WW2 Dayz - Iron Front: Liberation 1944

Recommended Posts

As many of you may be aware of, the ARMA 2 based game "Iron Front: Liberation 1944". This is based on the ARMA 2 game engine, so would it be possible to "Port" the mod to this game, would it work? As it would be interesting to have a few different sought of things like this. Its a different map, different weapons, unique weapons ETC.

I would love to try help develop stuff like this, but I do not know a huge amount of code, I have done Development for a Flight Simulator "Flightear", What type of codes do I need to start learning?

I haven't written much in this particular post, as I would like to see what feedback it gets...

Iron front is locked down, not moddable or user made addons like Arma 2.

That's part of the reason the game tanked badly.

I can see what you mean, thanks for alerting me to this, however, I already have thought of this factor... I present you with Invasion 1944 ARMA 2 mod:

So what about this? It might or might not work, would a Mod within a mod work?

Not interesting, zombie apocalypse in a WW2 atmosphere... Nah.

It's actually very interesting... you probably like Marmite to.

I agree - different backdrops to a DayZ style zombie apocalypse would be very interesting.

Using only WW2 era weapons, equipment and vehicles would be a hoot.

Escaping from a broken down Dutch town and into some German trenches where you would work together with them to take out the infected would be awesome to me.

However it'd be like Dayz as it is and that's still pretty great IMO.

FYI, whilst IFL is somewhat "closed" the devs will include user made content in patches is the quality is good enough.

If you had the permission from the appropriate parties something could be attempted. To go the I44 way would be simpler, but again you need permission.

Permission!

seek it.

Look at the vid posted above, snow maps, snow gear, and Zombies. What is not to like? the fact the weapons are periodic and vehicle and such. there Plenty more hours for DayZ to be had.

WWII and zombies? Fun times ahead.

I can't believe nobody has referenced Nazi Zombies yet..

Anyways, I like the idea of WW2 DayZ.

I would love to play a WWII version of dayz with everything WWII.

The map, the vehicule, the zombies and etc...

If you don't like it. Just play the classic dayz.

I44 also has some "neat" gameplay mechanics, such as "weapon resting" which I adore.

OK, I will look towards that, But I first need to know how I will actually do it? Do I have support, someone may have noticed i don't actually know entirely where to start... Then, I can start to look at seeking permision....

As for everyone elses replys, I agree. its kinda neat if it could be done... Its something that gives DayZ a bit more potential...

Hmmmm.... Not entirely sure I know what I am doing... I can understand the scripts, but not how they are used to port the weopans, maps and player models into DayZ...

Hello there

You are trying to run before you can walk.

Take an existing Arma mission into the editor, depbo it and start to look at all the external reference files/sqf's etc.

This isn't a quick job.

Hello there

I do mean that it'll be an enormo job. :)

A good tester which isn't too difficult is to port the mission "Domination" by Xeno from one island to another and add custom units. The "code" is supplied unpacked and there are instructions.

There will be many similar pipelines involved in a dayz port.

Just dont forget to get permission before you fiddle with i44.

Did I mention to get permission?

Yeah you did, thats why I am waiting till tomorrow... It would help to have a helper, as I will be quite novice at this, I want to learn a bit before I take any attempts yet or so....

Ah ok, I will try, obviosly the custom units then come from i44? or just fiddle with ARMA 2's own models so far? I will read the instructions soon. I understand that it will be very hard, thats why I need to learn haha (Have I said it enough?).
