Why was this removed?

I've had an inkling about it being gone for a while now. I'm pretty sure it stopped being a thing when the DB shotgun was intoduced. So why remove the 15 round pellets? That was one of my favorite weapons for killing zombies pre-DB shotgun. The Winchester is an awesome weapon with pellets. with slug ammunition it's just... meh.

And if anyone says 'balance', I'd like to point out that we still have the M107 and AS50, which are to balance what a sledgehammer is to a kneecap.

I've neve shot a non-hacker with it before. And seeing as it's so rare, and only has slugs, I don't bother picking it up unless I have nothing, or only a DB shotgun at the time.

The pellets were removed because the winchester actually isn't a shotgun, it only acts like one because it's was made specifically for dayz from a reskinned shotgun.

My father actually owns an 1866 Centennial Edition, from 1966. It's gold plated, never been fired and still in it's box with paperwork etc.

I'm not really into guns.

You could however drop shot into any shell casing, and it will still function. This gun also has a different shadow model than the model in game too. Gets kind of funny.

I believe the shotgun shell model is just a placeholder, the ammo it fires looks more like the .45's the 1911 fires.

Yes this is a rifle in RL, usually chambered for .44-40. The shotgun ammo icon is just a placeholder.

In a survival situation, this would be a great, quick-handling gun.

I'd still LOVE to see a .22 LR rifle in game. Great for Zeds. Ammo and gun are common in RL.

I'd rather have a .22 WMR, better known as the .22 magnum. My father owns a German bolt-action .22 WMR, Anschtuz if I'm correct. I could drive nails with it if I tried. Still, a .22 would be useless for PvP, much like the crossbow. Well, the crossbow is useless for everything pretty much.

The 1866 was never even a shotgun in the first place, it was a lever action rifle using .44 rimfire.

If anything, they might have trying implement the 1887 model and mistaken it for the 1866.

Well thanks guys. I was treating the Winchester as a shotgun and not a RIFLE. I might have to fool around with one and see if it's as good as the Leeroy Enfield at range.

I'd like to see the 94 Winchester 30-30. Much more common lever action rifle (compared to a 150 year old antique) using a bottlenecked rifle round similar ballistically to the 7.62x39 round used by the AK.

In-game it would have a shorter range than Enfield..halfway between a shotty and a CZ. Keep in mind older models were top-ejectors, making scope mounting difficult/impossible.

Newer models spit casings out the side.
