Disadvantages To Carrying/Using AS50/M107

Recommended Posts

Im sure they could fix it so you would have to be online for 24hours to count it as one day. I didnt think it should be endless, but just a little bit better.

There shouldn't be any reward from surviving long enough other than having more stuff because you spent the time playing.

This is a nice idea, maybe there should be restrictions on at what stance your character is able to fire the weapon/fire the weapon effectively. Maybe a system where there is a small yet still plausible possibility to damage yourself firing the weapon from a standing or hip firing stance...

I'd say the only real way to fire these weapons is from a prone position using a manually set up bipod via the command option. Firing these weapons from a standing or a crouched position is no easy task, their so heavy for one the idle sway would be increased even when standing still for several seconds. I believe an option should be used such as "Deploy Bipod" which steadies the weapons for as long as you are prone.

The downside of using this, is because it is manual action you will have to deselect and reselct the bipod process, adding prescious seconds to bipoding and picking up / deploying the weapon.

Shooting the weapon in a standing or crouched position will take a long time to realign the next shot, I'm thinking after each shot you get a temporary "pain effect" where your hands shake uncontrollably like when your hurt or are cold for a few seconds with each shot, making semi-auto firing "accurately" near impossible without the use of the bipod.

A good example of this is with any LMG such as the M240, Mk.48 or M249, all three have bipods which automatically deploy when you go prone, but have horrid accuracy and recoil when fired from a crouched or standing position (the M249 being the most controlable out of the bunch).

I like the deployable bipod idea, as long as you can deply it and rest it on a wall when crouched/standing depending on how high the wall is.

There are two new classes of AS-50 in the new Arma 2 betas.

"BAF_AS50_scoped_Large"

"PMC_AS50_scoped_Large"

They are the same as the normal AS50's but you cannot carry a backpack with them. No "M107_Large" unfortunately yet.

http://forums.bistud..._Large-quot-for

Thought it would be mentioning here as I see no posts regarding them on these forums so not sure if Razor or his team know about them yet.

I'm sorry to interrupt but weren't the scoped rifles removed in the latest dev build?

I believe there were, conflicting against the normal ones

I'm still for my bipod idea or at least forcing these snipers to go prone with a devasting recoil effect that causes a slight pain effect. Also I don't think these weapons should be able to be stored inside a backpack at all, the alternative of course is to dismantle the weapon into parts to store it

I'd like to know why they needed 2 separate classes for what should be the exact same rifle...

EDIT: I re-read your post - Not really sure. I think there's minor cosmetic differences.
