Zombie Occupations

Recommended Posts

This is similar to the mechanic in L4D like the construction zombies that don't hear pipe bombs. I know "Oh no not more L4D stuff" but hear me out, since there are varying environments in chernarus, like farmland, urban, lakes, oceans etc, there would be different people. I am not saying add the hunter or whatever but in Chernarus it's only logical to maybe find a construction worker with his hearing protection thus not being as perceptable to noise, maybe a once hearty farmer still carries over his strength with increased damage. And also, logical loot with this for example, the military zombies already can carry magazines but the construction worker might carry scrap metal, a doctor zombie might have an epi-pen etc.

Sounds pretty cool, but doctors don't usually carry around epi-pens, and construction workers don't usually carry scrap metal.

If the loot was a bit more real instead of...you know...not, this idea would be a 10/10 from me.

Cops would carry pistols (maybe) and the corresponding mags, military would carry mags and be harder to take down with body shots, construction workers would be worse at hearing, firemen have a chance of carrying axes, etcetera.

Yeah, that'd be cool.

Being eaten by a zombie hurts, though, and they could have easily dropped all of those things when being eaten alive.

So guns and axes and even mags on zombies that usually have guns should be really rare.

Make military zombies spawn with body armor and helmets that work, and make bodybuilder zombies too. :D

Also, don't forget infected survivors, which weren't lucky to be immune to the virus. They would be carrying a backpack and some non-ordinary clothes (Camo pants, hunting equipment)

If the infected would carry items of their trade on them then why not include specialist items in their loot drop. I just dont want to see programmers drop PC's or construction workers drop metal girders etc.

IE

Construction Workers: may drop a hard hat, hi vis jacket, ear protection (think of A.C.E. and hearing issues)

Police: may drop handcuffs, mags, sidearm, cs/pepper spray, radio/mobile, keys to car/station.

Surgeon: may drop stethascope, lab coat, expensive shoes. (unlikely to be carrying any prescription drugs)

Fireman: would have to be rare as most are out off full uniform at any given time. Helmet, Fireproof/tough over coat/trouser, axe/crobar.

Soldier: (if on duty at time of infection) Mess Kit, Field First aid kit, webbing, canteen, mags. Possible sidearm, blade/bayonet.

Just remember not all professions carry round the tools of their trade at all times, so more often than not, you would find little of value.

A major problem with this is the majority of the people who are inevitably turned into Zombies wouldn't be carrying what they would typically be carrying. A police officer probably wouldn't have a firearm on him at all. He would have most likely been using that to engage zombies, probably ran out of ammo or dropped the weapon while by being mobbed and eaten.

Generic loot like car keys, cellphones, cigarettes, and stuff one would typically find in someones pockets should be rather plentiful though.

or these guys

DayZ really needs SOME variety in zombies. Because right now they aren't even a threat

You're going to be complaining when the SA comes around and all the zombies are sprinting at you in every direction in/outside buildings, destroying your car, etc.

interesting, only bad thing would be implementation, it could slow down the AI if badly scripted, and lots of new variables would get the engine clunky for an mmo with uses so much of the server, but if we end up following up your idea most business buildings wold have lots of weak zombies, and outside in farms almost all would be stronger, military ones would be resistant to a degree even to bullets if they had the vest, interesting......

I hope to see a blind zombie.... wait, so will moral or tear gas have effect on them? That would be interesting, imagine leaking poisonous gas to kill zombies, that would be nice.

Just stick the Village People into DayZ.

I'd have:

A tomahawk

A pistol

A hammer

A m16

Some handcuffs

and a Harley Davidson.

Macho, Macho Man, I've got to be a Macho man............

And.....
