Arma 3 a new DayZ?

Recommended Posts

So what happens when Arma 3 gets released with mod tools... will we get another zombie project for that as well?

I'd imagine people will make a new DayZ on it at some point. Maybe the community devs from here will port stuff over. It'll be very different to the SA though even with all the bells and whistles Arma 3 will have, it'll take a while to build too. It'll still be a mod with all of the issues that go along with being a mod that we suffer from now.

This thread was actually made a while ago. The same conclusion as Fraggle was made. That thread was more of, "When ArmA 3 comes out, the "NEW" DayZ will be awesome!" Still, it was said that of course the mod would not be optimized and blah blah blah, and that since DayZ already made it, it'd have to be something pretty special to earn its standalone.

I BET there will be Dayz kinda game mod on ARMA3 and this might impact SA sales. Coz Arma3 zombie mod will look much nicer than Arma2,5 Dayz. Anyway I will still buy DayZ SA on day1

One big thing that I hated DayZ about in Arma 2 is that DayZ servers fill up the whole server list and I'll hate that too in A3 if it happens.

But that's where you're wrong. ArmA 2 was made free.

The DEMO was made for free. I dunno if you can easily get DayZ with the demo of ArmA, but time=money in which your time is probably worth the cost of it all.

Why even bother with ArmA 3, in less than 5-10 years ArmA 4 will be released.

I thought Rocket said that because the Arma 2 engine is so polished he would be using it for now but once Arma 3's engine is good years from now he will make the engine change.

A2 has been available many times in promotions for no cost. I have a few keys myself kicking about. I've not seen OA available for free though.

If you use new Arma 2 Beta patches, you won't see servers with mods that you don't have enabled. Meaning that if you don't have DayZ enabled, you won't see DayZ servers

Nope. Free mod would be free.

Wish people would stop thinking they have paid for a free add on.

Its like getting given a free coffee percolator then complaining you need a stove to use it.

You bought a stove for its main purpose, i.e cooking, getting a cup of joe with your fry up is just a bonus, not the main show.

I hope Arma 3 doesn't become DayZ's slave.

I think he was referring to the idea that while a lite version of 2009's ArmA 2, known as ArmA 2: Free was released in 2011, one shouldn't expect Bohemia Interactive to release ArmA 3 and a ArmA 3 lite version simultaneously. And while you could play ArmA 2: Free for free, DayZ still required both ArmA 2 lite or not, but also the not free ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead.

So yes the mod will be free.

But no, don't expect a lite version of ArmA 3 this year. :)

Sure, the MOD is free, but hypothetically, you need the game to play the mod, correct? So if you have not the game in which to play the mod, you will need to pay to get in which you don't have so you have in which to play the mod. Which costs $$. The process of aquiring and getting everything to function correctly has costed you $$.

Therefore, the mod is free, but to play it, you are going to have to spend money in some way, some how, some where, and to some extent. If you haven't the game already.

Also you still need Arrowhead for this one. Which is, as you pointed out, NOT free.

If they did make a DayZ for ARMA3 it would be cool if it was a bit different from the original ARMA2 version somehow, rather than just an updated version - maybe a WW2 setting with zombies, or even set at the beginning of the outbreak. Still, won't be for a long time so it doesn't really matter... and maybe it wouldn't be as successful anyway due to the SA if that continued to develop alongside.
