I installed the mod and joined a server. Three or four times I was killed before I could get anything. I read the guide on how to play. I understand about sneaking around, but no matter what I do, there's zombies everywhere and I can't get near anything that might have items in it. Maybe I'm missing something? Maybe I joined a server that has larger numbers of zombies? I'm not sure.

best bet is to run and try to lose them in buildings. They cant run in buildings and you can lose them there. Sneaking doesn't work as well as it used to.

Sneaking has no point unless you're getting shot at or know someone's in the area, in my opinion.

The part about the buildings... most buildings I find can't be entered... I expected resistance from zombies, but my initial experience isn't very good. I thought I'd have SOME chance at getting into buildings and getting items, but I just can't see to do it. I was able to get into one building and I found a couple of small items there. I started with a crossbow on that server but I couldn't retrieve my bolts after I shot them, or at least I wasn't doing it right... guess there's really a huge learning curve.

Practice, practice and more practice.

Give it some time and in an couple of hours it will all click into place. At the moment you're probably suffering sensory overload. The game is far simpler than you think.

Walk and crouch to get past zeds (stay out of sightlines too) just remember to walk.

Go on an empty server and practice with zeds. Get a train going and see how quick you can lose them. Run through trees to break los, go through buildings with 2 doors or crouch in pine trees. You will soon have them in your pocket :)

Ignore the person saying sneaking has no purpose. If you crouch/prone you can get by zombies pretty damn close(depending on the terrain) or at the very least avoid drawing them even in the open. Also when being chased running up hills(if its steep enough you cant run up it) is a good way to eventually lose them or slow them enough that theyre easy to kill as they are much slower going up a hill. Yes often it will be junk items or possibly a players already been there and looted the good stuff. Keep trying and dont give up hope. Also when moving between places try to move in the woods as youll be harder to see and usually there are no zombies there.

Keep at it. You'll get the hang of it. Once you get used to how the zombies react to certain player actions it will be a breeze. Then all you'll have to worry about is blood thirsty bandits.

play at night on dark servers with them before they are no longer an obstacle to you, trust me, eventually they become zero craic when you have them mastered..
