I'm thinking of buying 2 Gtx 260's and placing them in SLI but i'm not sure what my average fps will be and what settings I can run it on. I can't really find anything about it on the internet so I tought i'd just come and ask here and maybe what settings and fps does a single gtx 260 get?

Thanks already :)

Honestly, the GTX260 is an outdated card and you won't find out a lot about it.

You'd be a lot better buying a newer, more powerful single card.

I have a 560 ti at the moment but I wasn't too sure if I could run future games with it so I tought I could get a double 260 in SLI but apperently it's not the way to go :P

The 260 is so old I would be surprised if they even sold it still. SLI doesn't double the power, and even if by a freak event it would then it would still be far inferior to your 560. There's more to it than just speed and memory amount.

You should instead get some newer cards, not neccessarily the newest, but a 1 year old card and connect it in SLI instead. Or just buy a brand spanking new one. Far better off.

A 560 can play Arma 2 and DayZ maxed out without problems.in the 40's up to 60 FPS depending on the map and location.

An SSD is a good investment also, A single SSD will greatly reduce texture popping and stuttering, 2 SSD's in RAID0 pretty much eliminate it.

The standalone will of course run even better then the current mod.

They will get pretty much exactly the same performance but the 560ti will run cooler, quieter and brings DX11 to the table.

If you want to buy another card try and get another 560Ti for SLI rather than buying 2 new cards.

Why not just get another GTX 560ti and sli. That would give you a good boost in performance.

that would be far too sensible

I recently upgraded from a gtx 260. it would average around 30-40 fps in DayZ

edit: I wouldn't want sli 260's just because I know it's a power hungry card. the performance might be decent, but a newer card would do better, with less power/heat/noise

Why the hell you would replace a 560ti with two 260's i will never know, a single 560ti is capable of running most modern games on ultra quite easily depending on the rest of your rig, if you are getting poor performance with it atm its probably due to your CPU bottlenecking your system.

AMD Radeon 7870 is the way to go, or get a 7850 (the best value card available at the moment) and in the future you can get two when you want a bit more power :)

How the heck are you guys maxing out with those cards? I've got a GTX 680 FTW+ and I still can't max Arma.

Half the crowd uses the mentality that if they have at least one setting on "High / Ultra", then that means they're playing at High / Ultra. The other half can actually play on High / Ultra because they use lower resolution monitor settings.

get a new card and dont have to upgrade for a while

If you really want to get a good rig, get a good processor and a GTX 690, you wont need to upgrade for years

The guy is talking about owning a 200 dollar card (560ti) and wanting to swap out for 2 100 dollar cards (260's) and you're recommending he get a 800~1000 dollar card? Clearly some reading comprehension is in order here.

Anyways if you're looking for an upgrade to the 560ti (which I'm not sure why you are, it's perfectly fine) you're safest bet is to avoid buying the #60's from Nvidia. You might look at the 660's and see a bargain but the general consensus around the computer nerd community tends to be #90's last 4 years, #80's last 3 years, #70's last 2 years and #60's are under performing (at the leading edge) by a years time.. so I recommend a GTX 670.

Not sure what CPU you're running though? If it's not a higher end i5 like the 2500K or an i7 chances are you're going to bottleneck on the higher end 600 series.

I tell anyone to go for GTX 690 and a i7 if they have money to spend on it, because truthfully you wont have to upgrade for years

Yeah, it's that easy, right? It's not like they'd have to take in to consideration the socket of their current mobo. Or the rating of their psu. Or the size of their case (meaning will a long card even fit).

It makes no sense to buy THE top end hardware unless you're one of those people who put together a new rig every year for the shear performance factor. It's better to buy the upper mid-level hardware and sell it every other year, putting that cash towards new upper mid-level hardware.

Not many people can due to Arma being horribly optimized (especially with higher tier cards), hopefully the SA and Arma 3 will be a bit better in this regard.
