Mr. Wallace I think we have a failure to communicate here. It sounded like you are basing DayZ off as a shooter only. If this is your opinion that is fine.

I however think of it more of a sandbox. Granted there aren't a ton of sandbox features in it yet. I have no problem with PvP, I am quite active in it.

I just believe if you treat DayZ as a fragfest, killing everyone, you are doing a disservice to the game. (just as the people who want just pve) There are players who like to create things inside the world. events, crafting, and whatever their imaginations can come up with. Albeit atm we all have limited options. which is why a lot of folks just pvp.

I just think in a game that's said to be a sandbox, we the players should learn to accept we each have a valid playstyle.

Unless you hack/script/cheat then you just suck!

I will kill if I have to, it's survival, but I won't go out of my way to kill someone unless fired upon or if the person I meet rubs me the wrong way and won't go away after being warned. I'll help others out if I can and will avoid pvp most of the time unless forced into it - but I accept that it's just a game, as much as I love it, I still realize that pvp is going to happen weather I like it or not and that's just fine, the fact is that this game will bring out the worst and best in people, it will also bring out the sub-human in a select few that refuse to enjoy it and resort to scripting (it's not hacking, remember).

You're right OP, it is OK to not like PVP, but doesn't mean that it will change any time soon. I hear there are servers out there that kick people for pvp.

Whoever hosts servers like that deserve to be kicked. In the shins. <_<

People keep saying that PvP makes this game. And that's just not true. It's the THREAT of PvP that really makes it. While firefights are fun and all, it's the idea that you might run into a hostile at any moment. Even if you run into someone who claims to be friendly, is he actually friendly?

Me and my friend only play together. We've had two encounters with two other groups of two. Both times, it was as tense as the cold war.

Hello there

I forgot to add that even though in DAYZ it's not "my thing" it's also ok to love PvP.

That's the good thing about the mod and A2, something for everyone.

I hear all these guys telling awesome stories about how they met person X randomly in the wilderness/fire station/wherever and how they communicated and after a rocky start eventually hung out and became allies etc etc.

WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLE?

I encounter no one and nothing except unspeaking murderous children who should be playing CoD. I have yet to have an encounter - post the initial few euphoric weeks of playing this game - that did not involve them running straight at me with whatever is at hand or simply blowing my brains out with a high-powered scoped sniper rifle from 3km away.

I would dearly, dearly, love to be able to say "Hey whats up" over in-game VOIP and get a friendly response, or for someone to offer a friendly "Hi friendly?" before they just bulldoze my corpse into a ditch and walk away with what little I own.

I confess, I'm not a huge PVP fan in most games, but PVP in this game feels... futile. There are no attempts at contact or negotiation or communication whatsoever. When I've spent days crawling around looking for a GPS (I actually found one, and a whole bunch of awesome stuff the other day) and just getting one-shotted from a speck on the horizon I just haven't logged in since. I wasn't even annoyed at that point I just thought to myself "What is the point?"

Thoughts?

you cannot imagine how many times you have to kill or die to get a friendly encounter! you just don't have to get attached to your gear, the more you have the more others want. i suggest you to join teamspeak..there are strangers who team up everyday

is hacking is ok to do however not scripting? if he are making the script for other player then he is difference? i dont care if he are making all alone one aircraft carrier at Cherno to say he are smart or that he just press one button from an hack, they all have fuck dayz and are all hacker to me. there is people like this who think they are clevere than all so they have right way to break rules. if u can mod at arma 2 its good but do that at not at other player times. between the teleport hacker and anti PVP hacker there also are the "smart" hacker who are making entertaining "sandbox" he think. fuck they clowns, it is not smart for anyone can learn to mod but it show they think the rules dont apply at they. join at the dayz team or any mod team in this case but stop to proofing u are "smart" to other people at dayz losers!

i have to look this word for understand what u say

"kiddiot(KID.ee.uht) n. A young, malicious hacker who isn't smart enough or skilled enough to create custom hacking software, so must rely on programs created by other people."

so it says he is "hacker" but just one "stupid" or "lazyness" hacker!! i worry about the people who are make distonctions between the hacking like some are ok. fuck it all

Before I start, I just wanna clarify that I've never geared up and gone down south purposely for PvP and can honestly say the only time I camp around Electro/Cherno is to countersnipe or gear up quickly. I also want to add I have a conscience and haven't betrayed someone and always feel some guilt for shooting on sight so I'm not flat out a bandit.

My only argument with people who are against PvP and look down on banditry is realistically what else do you have to do? You can't tell me killing infinite spawning zeds is particularly fun, there's no reward in doing that anyway. Vehicles as a end game? I've been there, spent 3 hours searching for a wheel for example - boring. I've played on the 3-5 people max private hives who all know eachother, geared up with enough guns to start a small war to the point me and my buddy were ditching good gear because it was completely pointless hording anymore and...it's boring. I hopped on a 30+ pop at all times server, grabbed a akm and had a blast with no gear at all with plenty of PvP/player interaction. If everyone was friendly, there would be no tension at all in the game. It makes me laugh when people cry about there being no friendlies in game and being killed because they have good loot/ghillie which is only useful against players. Otherwise we'd all grab a common gun, like a Enfield, matches/hatchet/knife and a water bottle and just walk around the map. I've played on a few servers with medics/people giving taxi rides, role playing or just trolling people and I can understand that's fun but if there wasn't PvP in the game no other playstyles would exist IMO.

PvP makes day-z what it is imo. And I'm aware i'm in the minority but I pray the standalone remains a hostile/PvP environment and isn't just spent grinding for various meds/supplies for days on end focused on PvE.

Did you come up with that comment by yourself or is your social worker typing it for you?
