sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) From the article:"According to Hall, Bohemia has made around €26 million ($33 million Canadian) in profit since the spring." :oNot too shabby. Not too shabby at all. Even with a story, Hall wants the player to be in control. One of the biggest alterations is the degree to which players will be able to effect the world of DayZ. In the new version, some players can gather the proper equipment to set up a lab and attempt to cure the virus.?! dallas 5195 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the edit, I thought I had it under control after 3rd edit, but apparently not. ;)I don't know how many of those 26 million are from DayZ, but I'm glad BIS is doing well. BelMarduk 169 Posted November 24, 2012 One of my still favorite games ever of all time was elite (DayZ is a close second if not actually tied). I have a pile of floppies for my commodore64 (and a few cassettes) and the only one I miss playing is elite (and the bards tale's which I still play now and again, my boys love getting retro too) sadly though, the little plastic anti-play-a-copy device broke a few years back (well, maybe about 7 or so), and I havent been able to play it since:( Rocket, you ROCK! (with a very good taste in games!!!).
BelMarduk 169 Posted November 24, 2012 - you are now reading the above quote in a Valley Girl accent.I'm really starting to dislike the misuse of the alpha/beta testing stages lately. Either to rush the game out the door before it's finished and/or hide behind the alpha/beta state so you can trade on the promise of what may come, rather than what actually exists. On the surface, Rocket appears to be moving away from that kind of "marketing", but is the actual game just going to follow the same release pattern? Rolling updates like we have with DayZ mod?The minecraft model. In its 'alpha' release state it will be very cheap (both less content but very low price). As the game gets more content and better functionality, all the 'updates' will be free to those that have already bought the game, but as those updates (e.g. the game gets better) the price to 'jump in' will increase. When I first got minecraft for my boy, It cost 15 bucks I think. When I finally decided to get a copy myself so we could play together I had to pay like 25 bucks for my copy (a year or so later, maybe two...). The content that I got was far more than the content he got (when first bought) BUT we both end up with the same content.. This year the game might cost 20 bucks at release, next year however it might be 25-30 bucks to buy. That's the 'minecraft' model. So yes, there will be (ad infinitim?) rolling updates to the stand alone.
