DayZGame vs DayZMod

Recommended Posts

I'm saying the Developer needs to be able to make money for the up-keeping of servers, building new maps, and creating new features like the underground construction.

I'm sure the Dev team have other ideas for future content and features but a good deal of this comes down to the sales of the game and sales of DLC (if they do release DLC).

The reason why i'm ok paying for future DLC maps because I rather have that then a in game store like we see in WarZ.

Your last line - agree 100% no fuckin store

Yea, a DayZ store wouldn't really fit since it's a survival game and there are no settlements.

Plus having the new maps as a source of income, this will push the Developers to create even better maps= the better the map the more sales since the player will see the value in the map and be able justify the purchase.

I'm really against DLC in every way shape or form.

I'm not. A huge well balanced map that introduces a lot of new buildings, atmosphere, and gameplay that caters to all styles of play is easily worth 10 bucks to me. I like the community maps but if BI/RocketCo/whoever could take it to the next level then I'm all for it. They'd really have to outdo what the community has already brought to the table to be worth it. I'm eager to see what Chernaus plus looks like. Maybe then we'd get a taste of what future maps might look like.

Pay for maps? I won't be paying for them unless they are tried and tested thoroughly after release, in fact i am disappointed with paying for maps.. I would sooner donate as opposed to p[ay for Map's or any DLC (Thought being it should be in the game and not an extra charge)

I'd rather not have items stick out like blueberry pancakes surrounded by glowsticks

Man, i'm buying standalone. I will happily pay to play this game, DayZ a little shinier? Yes please. I just hope they get hackers under control and for the love of god, we need more Australian servers LOL!

I've changed the thread title because people aren't even reading the op and I'm getting sick of having to move posts to the WarZ thread. It was used as an example, don't turn this into a WarZ discussion/comparison thread.

Just don't get over expecting what SA will do. It will be an alpha. That means 'work in progress'. The focus will be in solidifying the product quality and stability. Then the cool stuff will be added gradually. So keep cool and give it some time!

Should have been dealt with straight after the first post, imho.

Rocket said it was a potential option for creating revenue if needed, however he also said, that might not work if they decided to accept usermade maps in the standalone. So right now there isn't no public decision about such DLC. Rocket has said further development is linked to the succes of the standalone, but I figure that the massive amount of sales from ArmA 2: OA are probably being used by BIS to pay Rocket's new project lead salary for a foreseeable future.

The DayZ standalone probably has to have negative sales for BIS to lose money on it.

I guess I've taken the Arma platform for granted and see only DayZ as its fruitation! I was browsing youtube videos and came upon a few other Arma mods, though I don't know how to install them and one (BCPD) requires you to sign up on their forums and get Teamspeak, don't mind the forums thing but I don't want Teamspeak. Interesting never the less... but with Arma3 being even better, what's to stop someone from modding it to make their own DayZ-like game? With modular weapons, enterable buildings, etc already coming standard for Arma3...

That is how I am judging DayZ Standalone. Would it be better than an Arma3 DayZ mod. I've been playing DayZ pretty extensively over the past few days and I think it's time to put it down already. There is just nothing overly interesting to do in the game. (Private hives allow you to type globally so that you can actually team up with people and not just shoot everyone) but then trying to orchestrate when those people will be on and you at the same time means you're most likely either not playing or stuck solo again.

So, I thought... maybe just running around and shooting anyone I see would be fun... So I would run to electro or cherno with the first weapon I find and attempt to shoot at anything I see. I'm a pretty bad kb+m shooter though, but managed to get killed twice but get two kills... in the end it made me feel like I was playing COD with huge respawn times. Boring.

As far as paying for DLC Maps... the only downside to this is if within those maps are additional features. If it's just a map, no big deal... but if when you buy this map you will also get the ability to construct things, etc... then you really aren't buying a map you're buying a feature. I don't want additional content to be paid for, but earned/found within the game.

There's no shame in that, if DayZ isn't for you, then it isn't for you. I love ArmA and I love being a little bird pilot in Insurgency mod, making roof top insertions and put the bird down in narrow compounds, but I never bought Take on Helicopters, it just wasn't for me.

As for DLC maps Rocket hasn't made a final statement on that subject and it's probably not on the top of his development list, the standalone is. But if you only got a weeks worth of enjoyment of the mod, maybe you should just withhold judgment until you see what the standalone has to offer. Unlike WarZ, you don't have to go buy it on blind faith.

I've had DayZ since like May, but I have to keep putting it down and coming back to it because it's rather boring after a few days. I of course am waiting on the Standalone to see what it offers that the Mod doesn't.

When I first played the game I was one of those people who were mad whenever they got randomly killed, but now it doesn't bother me and I don't even have any remorse towards killing another player. Just the content the game has right now is lacking in entertainment long-term for me. As mentioned in the previous post I purposely went on a mission to spawn/find/kill people on sight; just to see why people think that type of game play is fun... and it really wasn't. Though at this point gathering, looting, etc is equally as boring.
