Concerned about Standalone Interiors

Recommended Posts

So I read that the Rocket and the gang are hard at work fleshing out interiors for all the buildings in Chernarus.

I'm all for it, but won't this have a negative impact on the zombie threat?

I've become pretty adept at shaking zombies in the game, to the point that they're really not an issue for me any more. If every building in all the cities has an interior then I would think zombies would be of little concern since you can just pop in and out several buildings to shake them.

I would image that one solution would be to remove the forced-walking that zombies face when entering interiors. What do you guys think?

Hello there

I sure the devs have thought that through, it would be silly of them to hobble their own release.

The numbers will surely go up as well. Lose some, run into to more. Hopefully. :)

just a thought on making Zombels NOt slow down in buildings..

curious how fresh spawns are supposed to ditch a zombie train if you have no equipment..

if zombies run as fast as you do even throu buildings, your basicly fuked if you pick up a zombie and have no weapon, you wouldnt have time to search or find equipment..

i just dont see how making zombies as fast as players all the time will work...

Zombie AI is being completely reworked for the standalone. In the mod the zombies are based on infantry AI from ARMA 2. In the standalone they will have their very own AI from the ground up.

I can't wait for real hardcore zombies.

I bet that there will be a way to lose them, such as ducking around corners, dropping into a sewer, climbing a ladder ect.

Forget about the zombies, worry about other players. Cities are going to be ridiculously dangerous once every building is a potential sniper's nest.

I can hardly wait.

Everyone is going to have to learn how to be stealthy again.

Spawn the Infected inside buildings again along with the roaming around citys/towns.... They were fun times.

what Hetstaine said^.

Zombies should be able to run (even in buildings.), noobs will need to line of sight them around buildings/shrubs,

and players will actually have an incentive to be slow and careful, and less willing to fire at others.

I was under the impression that zombies would be slowed down to something between a shamble and a run (even having variations of zombies, some fast, some slow), but their pace wouldn't slow down indoors, and there'd be far more zombies spawning at once. I mean, we still can't have zombies running the same speed as us, then having MORE annoying advantages.

I'm slightly concerned that my PC won't run it very well. With the added enterable buildings, interiors, and more zombies. I could see a real FPS hit.

better get used to crawling everywhere because I doubt zombie mechanics will be the same thus making it an actual challenge to get in and out of high populated areas.

Personally I'd like to see shambling zombies that you can outrun when out in the open but can run/shamble indoors. Meet one isolated one in the field and it's no problem. Get several cornering you in a building and you're screwed. That would give the game a nice traditional zombie fiction feel.

OP, what makes you think there simply won't be zeds inside the buildings? Perhaps you shouldn't worry

I don't need an incentive to fire on others. And where do you get the idea we should be any less willing to fire on others? Standalone or otherwise I will be firing on you unless your carebear stare is too powerful for me

Zombies are getting various tweaks in the standalone.

For one they won't be Usain Bolt anymore and will "shamble" at a decent speed.

They will follow you into buildings.

These are the ones I can think on the top of my head right now.

And like someone posted, zombies are getting a decent AI that is being made from the ground up so they don't use half the soldier's AI from Arma anymore.

Read my post.

1.I don't mention an incentive to fire on others. I mention an incentive to be sneaky.

2. More dangerous, and harder to lose Zeds aggroing on you WILL make you less willing to fire on others without putting much thought into it. You misquote me by assuming you shouldn't KOS. I'm simply stating that your killing will now have to be more strategic and less CoD.

Stop reading carebear into it.

It's going to be a brand new learning experience. I'm looking forward to it a lot.

This coupled with us not being able to sprint forever! I wonder how many "hard core" will be on the forums filling my cup? Like I said before I hope the Devs dial it in right, so things are rough but doable. I don't want to see an end of KoS, just to make it mean something.
