    Recommend me a Namalsk server.

    BMRF 4. It's a whitelist server though. Also has like 3 other chernarus servers. Also something like Drunk gaming can't remember the exact name. They added a city, and I found a total of 6 vehicles within 2 hours.

    24/7 Daylight Servers... UGH?

    I believe Rocket originally intended to lock everything, save for the simple regular/veteran/expert settings, but eventually opened it up because the market wanted it (and because server admins were able to fight hackers better individually than collectively). I still don't see why anyone would want everything locked to Rocket's specifications though. Why not just ask him his ideal settings then start your own server using those settings instead of requiring every single server to be the exact same? What's so wrong about giving the players the options they want so they can have different experiences on different servers? Want to play in the daytime? There's a server for that. Want to play with 200+ vehicles and a half dozen choppers? There's a server for that. Want to play Chernarus as it was originally intended? There are servers for that too. Again, allowing the server admins, who pay for the servers themselves, to pick and choose some of the options they want is just meeting the demands of the market and has largely contributed to the continuing success of the mod. If you go through the forums everyday you'll see multiple people coming back to DayZ after a long hiatus and praising all the new options. If we were still stuck with nothing but Chernarus in its original form they would all just leave again. And I wasn't trying to be dramatic with "forcing". All I'm saying is we have an open system now. If you close it because a small minority thinks everyone should play the exact same settings you are going to create a firestorm. As for the darnkess, if it's cloudy changing gamma/brightness settings no longer helps after they patched it sometime in the 1.7.2.x releases. And I've been in pitch black woods (I'm from the Southeast US) plenty enough to know that I can see at least the faint outlines of trees and other objects a few feet in front of me. If it's cloudy and dark in DayZ I can be stuck running into a tree for 10 minutes and have no idea.

    Vehicle spawns?

    I'm at a loss here... I've joined a server that JUST got restarted and I hit like 15 different sites that should have vehicles, i.e. UAZ, GAZ, Old Bikes, and Motorcycles, yet all the sites had nothing there...? What gives? Spots that should have a couple of bikes and even motorcycles didn't have anything there. Am I not understanding the rate of spawns? I know that certain vehicles spawn faster than others, i.e. bikes every 4 hours vs GAZ which I think is every 12? But, it's a newly started server... shouldn't everything be there? Can someone explain the vehicle spawning process to me?

  7. Basically people realised that DayZ is a really bad survival simulator. There's an infinite supply of food and water which is extremely easy to obtain, while vehicles may be rare (at least on vanilla hives) fuel is also infinite and vehicles can run forever with little need of maintenance. Once people figured out that survival was a piece of cake and a character could achieve all the essentials for survival in less than an hour of play time, they realised that the real challenge/entertainment would be found in player vs player combat. I mean honestly whats the point of going all the way up to the NWAF to get funky military grade loot if you're not going to try and kill another player? Are you really going to go all the way to the barracks for an m240 just so you can kill zombies and random animals? When it comes down to it the unique game play elements of DayZ are very shallow and the standard Arma2 mechanics are what most people experience. Hopefully the stand alone can change this.

    I'm just going to put them here. Simple as that. ## Death and reawakening ## - After 30 sec to up to around 10 min, your body will become a zombie and will stand up before attacking anyone walking within ~30 meters of it. (If in visible range or making too much noise, making noise would wake the zombiefied person react from farther away) ** Buried bodies can raise from the ground, but will not notice other players as easy as those above ground. - All players that died by head shot will rot and can spread sickness to those close. Use a *shovel to bury their corpse to prevent sickness to spread. Explosions and death by fire may also result in a corpse not able to raise from the dead. - Zombies can not aim what they have in their hands, melee weapons may be swung and guns may be fired. Handguns or other firearms may be fired by the awoken zombie, but the zombies will not aim. A zombie wielding a 240 may still deal quite a bit of damage to other zombies or/and players. - Sometimes Zombies may drop what they have in their hands if shot at, wakes up or takes chase. - Zombies may dismember you after you die. Zombies without arms or legs may move slower, but can still bite you. !! Shooting dead players in the head before they turn into a zombie is a good idea. ## Burying,shovels,dragging,reawakening and rot. etc.. ## * Burying players is essential to keep away from sickness spread by rotting corpses. * The longer a corpse lays around, where and what weather it is in determines how fast the rot sets in and the risk of sickness to spread. * As bodies can not be buried indoors or on concrete, dragging bodies out to make an area safer to camp or rest in is essential. * Shovels are needed to be able to bury bodies. Shovels could also be good to allow hidden stashes for players, burring wooden boxes containing a few items or such. Shovels may make a fairly good weapon when fighting of lesser numbers of zombies or ambushing an unsuspecting person. * Various sicknesses, some slow you down, cause you to shake, tremble, lowered vision or hearing, slow you down, cause hysterical coughing, make you pass out, vomit and so forth. Various things may be good to help you keep on your feet until you find medicine or warm shelter where you can recover. Coughing and vomiting, along with other side effects will alert near by zombies of your presence. * Pain killers : In some cases this will give you a temporary ignorance to the sickness, but will not cure it. While the effects may not be affecting you for a short amount of time, you will still have a chance to infect others around you. * Antibiotics : Will cure most illness fast while others stay longer but cures faster than usual. * Heated water : May help to speed up recovery. * Dead bodies in water sources will make the water sources will infect the water. Boil your water. !! This will make players have second thoughts about looting corpses for gear. ## Medical & Vehicles ## * Players may bandage other players in most vehicles. * Players can not bandage all wounds themselves, if in a vehicle. * Some injuries will simply have to heal with time, don't strain yourself. * Antibiotics may be needed or infection may spread. * Shoot yourself in the head if you know you are going to die anyway. This will at least prevent you from waking up as a zombie and killing or injuring your group members/friends. * Dismember your wounded body parts with a machete to prevent sickness. Significantly slower at reloading weapons. !! "I'm truly sorry to say this, but we are going to have to amputate that arm sir." ## Weather ## * Snow : Zombies have decreased vision, may be/get frozen stuck and will also move slower, while players need to keep them selves warm. Terrain should be changed into winterlandish during snowy weather. Roads become slippery for zombies and players, as well as for cars. Put some chains on those wheels during the snowy times of the year. * Rain : Zombies have decreased vision and hearing. Also zombies will lose you easier in rain. But it is easy to get sick during heavy rain, while not as bad during light rain. * Wind : Wind may occur during wind and rain. Depending on direction and strength of the wind it may slow down movement of players and zombies while also making it more dangerous to ride some lighter vehicles. !! Don't stand too close to the edge of a building during strong wind. That's it.... for now.

    I'd like it to be somewhat like the first post. Wrecked vehicles, chopper crashes and other peoples vehicles could be sources to drain fuel from. * Sneaking into an enemy base area and draining fuel out of their vehicles would be a great tactical move if the number of members differ too much. * Taking the fuel out of one vehicle and putting it in a more important vehicle or one that allows for a faster or safer escape. + oooh shit I must go :P ~doesn't finnish~

    Yes... this is exactly where I was going with the script... I know SQL... and can have a job run every 10 or 15secs... and if player is off map... I will know... I am just new to DayZ admin... and not sure if/how I could notify the user when this happens... any help here would be great... What I would like to do... * Have a SQL Job Checking for Players out of bounds... ** Warn them about Vehicles that are out of bounds during server reboot will be lost... * Have a Second Startup Script... ** It will look for Vehicles that are out of bounds and move them to their original spawn... *** This will happen ONLY if there is no other vehicles withing 10m or so... **** AND There has not been another vehicle spawn from that same location... (same world_id or whatever...) I can get all the sql working in about 10 mins... but the ingame player notification... that is where I will need help... anyone know how to do this... preferably from SQL Script... (maybe call a bat file that will admin chat user... or something like that) Thanks for your help - Sea

    Do we need IEDs for the upcoming zombie convoys in the next patch? Makes no sense blowing up the entire loot because that's what it's good for and having almost no vehicles in the future of DayZ it's a useless item.

    Vehicle spawns?

    vehicles take time to respawn after being destroyed, server restarts don't matter, like the chopper takes a whole week to respawn, and i think most other vehicles are the same. Plus if vehicles have been saved by others then no matter if the server is restarted they wont be at the spawn points, they will be wherever the last player to use it saved it. Basically if you want a vehicle and they aint at their spawns then you are going to have to go hunting about for them.

    Like i said at the top, Having gas stations and fuel dumps have limited amount of fuel (enough to fill on car tank) would make it harder for people to get fuel, as the more people with cars the more empty these will be, having them fill up at a very slow rate would mean that it is possible to have your car on the road but it will be risky as other people will be looking to get the fuel too the ability to guard at gas station makes it a fun competitive addition to the game, especially for big groups with multiple vehicles i do like the idea of being able to siphon gas from other players vehicles would be cool so you can get more gas and not have to have another vehicle to tend to for the reasons above lol

    Yes it has been discussed before (to death almost) but that doesn't detract from it being a good point, and one I believe has been noted by the developers. The fact is the mod has it arse round - there's loads of fuel but few vehicles! Surely it makes more sense to have vehicles more common (to be honest most of them are crap anyway and offer very little advantage) and have fuel a bit harder to source. To me it makes more sense to have players need syphoning kits as resources in addition to jerry cans and have players rely on scavenging wrecks or rarer spawnable cans fuel in industrial buildings. Syphoning the fuel should be a time consuming business to increase the risk of it and make players more vulnerable when doing it. As far as Gas stations are concerned, maybe have a specialist syphoning drilling kit that's needed and make gas supplies limited for set periods of time in the servers life/cycle to prevent large groups of vehicles constantly being able to refuel at these bottomless pits of fuel.

    Would be realistic, and besides most admins and clans own most the vehicles already, And people do log off so that would mean an opportunity to get in their and get that truck. It may make people co-op a lil more cos if they dont their will be no fuel and no vehicles :P

    Maybe gas stations have limited amounts of fuel that runs out. Then have a fuel depot up north, and a fuel truck that can be filled from the depot (But fuel cannot be put into fuel cans or vehicles from the depot or truck.) So players would have to fill the truck up and take it to a gas station to fill the tank up there from the truck before they can get fuel from the gas station if it was empty. PS - the fuel truck can be fuelled at the depot only, so it can drive. But so that players dont just drive this truck about, if the tank part is shot at the truck will explode, as would irl :P
  19. Hey, my name is Chronocide. I've been playing DayZ for a few months now and my friend started weeks ago. Anyways, we are looking for a small group of around 5-10 people to setup a camp with. As long as you don't steal from us, we are kind sharing people, who DON'T shoot on site unless we somehow feel threatened. That being said, I am from the US (west coast), he is from Portugal so we play in both US and DE servers. If anyone is fine with that, post below and we'll be glad to meetup and setup a camp to store tents / vehicles. We are currently looking for a server that has a decent ping for both of us 100-150. I am on quite a bit during the weekdays from 10:40am-12:20pm (PST) and 3:00pm-10:00pm (PST). He is normally on from 10:00am-3:00pm (PST). Not sure if you will like them but hey :P Commander - Someone who leads a small group of members, Warlord - Someone who takes a couple of members to raid a town, Driver - Someone who will drive vehicles to transport items and members, Officer - Someone who controls new members, Pilot - Someone who will fly helicopters, (Joke Rank) Slave - The meatshield/Bait/Distraction.

    Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. Just updated Celle on all servers to the version that is compatible with Play withSIX, you can download it directly at http://dayz.st/files/Celle_Dayz.zip or from the source at http://opendayz.net/downloads/maps/celle/Celle_Dayz.zip or just use Play withSIX to connect. We just updated the map tool today to the version we've been working on - animated player/vehicle trails and rotation still aren't working/tested completely yet (they are in the code of the new map but disabled) but we fixed a couple problems where the map would stop working if players or vehicles had invalid location data (which we've seen a few times and was probably causing your issue). It now uses AJAX to pull data from your database so it may take a second or two to load instead of instantly like before. Click 'spawn' next to the max vehicles setting in the control panel? As for the spectator tool - I'm going to see what I can do, the problem is it's a completely different mission file and we compile missions on-the-fly using the bliss compile scripts which this is totally incompatible with. We can't reliably do things like enable rMod or side chat with the spectator missionfile currently. Also Dallas/Washington DC are sold out again, will probably try to get a Washington DC server up today, but it may take until Monday because of the weekend.

The database does not lie and all of these fine folks would not praise our server if I was "running players off the server" fyi the reason why teamspeak was empty was because it was damn near 3am where most people log off for the night. Alien lab you only ran into me at that hour was because I was redoing our custom buildings after a server mishap. I explained why you were banned personally and you started insulting myself and my server hence why you were banned from teamspeak. I have no problem discussing bans but I will not tolerate people moaning, crying and just out right raging because I caught you. Get over it, we pay attention to our server and if you spawn weapons equip. vehicles or even use a map hack we will find out eventually and you WILL be banned from our server. We run a private hive and if our staff determines someone is playing unfairly they will no longer be welcome in our community simple as that. I treat everyone I deal with exactly the same, no special treatment or exceptions will come from me.
  25. Bandits I can handle. Its hackers that are the real issue. As for the suggestions: Blood on hands if loot a player corpse. (zombies can smell the blood on you, and you can get rid by washing in a lake) no... countless times I've just found a body. Even nonbandits loot corpses... High powered guns much louder so if fired near zombies they come running. they already are & do. All high powered guns only spawn far up north, and make it cold up north so need certain clothing, drugs & food to survive the trek. most already do, AND they nerfed pistols to be weak as water (takes a full mag to kill a zombie unless its a headshot...) So the game is now more boring, and the new spawns who find a pistol first, can't defend themselves against the guys who came back down from the north with that already loud powerful rifle. I say put pistols back to where they were. 45 cal was made to be a slow moving but HARD hitting body stopper. Zombies should go down to it like they used to. Also vehicles break down in the cold and disease spreads way quicker in the cold. Vehicles already break when anything looks at them. And you want more breakage? Already you get sick real easily on the water, and you want more of that? Go play namalsk. Derp. All that should slow down the KOS mob with high powered guns cos if they die its a long dangerous trek to get more. No... it doesn't. Scarsity makes people more desperate, more likely to KOS. Namalsk is proof of that. Scarse food, easy sickness... people KOS constantly.
