Why did the DayZ players changed so much?(From friendly kids to backstabbing twats)

Basically people realised that DayZ is a really bad survival simulator. There's an infinite supply of food and water which is extremely easy to obtain, while vehicles may be rare (at least on vanilla hives) fuel is also infinite and vehicles can run forever with little need of maintenance. Once people figured out that survival was a piece of cake and a character could achieve all the essentials for survival in less than an hour of play time, they realised that the real challenge/entertainment would be found in player vs player combat. I mean honestly whats the point of going all the way up to the NWAF to get funky military grade loot if you're not going to try and kill another player? Are you really going to go all the way to the barracks for an m240 just so you can kill zombies and random animals? When it comes down to it the unique game play elements of DayZ are very shallow and the standard Arma2 mechanics are what most people experience. Hopefully the stand alone can change this. -

1) What is our proposal ? Private hive server, protected with anti cheat systems and anti-cheat tools like Pwnz0r spectator tool. Server is also whitelisted to prevent from entering by random ppl. Server is hosted by main admin wchich is one and only that have access to database so possibility for other admins to cheat using database is removed. Professional solutions guarantee low pings and good server optimization. Despite some cases with bugs in scripts (caused by new DayZ version) server provide with better FPS than other servers. Also frequent restarts are better for your gameplay performance. Processor: AMD FX-8150 4400Mhz Memory: 32GB Patriot 1600Mhz HDD: 4x160GB Raid 0+1 OS: Windows 2008 Server R2 64Bit Network: 2 x symmetric 1Gbit Up/Down + backup 100Mbit Up/Down 4) Changes in gameplay For better and more challenging gameplay, we have modified items in game. All overpowered "one shoot one kill" weapons were taken off or spawn chance is really really small. AS50 and M107 is totally removed, M107 sometimes accidently spawn but it's removed by admin manually. L85 AWS is also removed. Instead of those weapons you can find a lot of other weapons that are not banned in DayZ. Spawn chances of all weapons, especially those ones on heli crash sites are slightly reduced. Especially FN FAL and FN FAL AN/PVS-4 which were spawned in huge numbers. Spawn of crucial items like NVG, Rangefinder are modified time to time by main admin. Goal is to have few of each items per server, so if some items vanquish, chances are raised. When enough items are in players hands chances are reduced to 0%. That way we prevent from inflantion of top-high quality items. There is also a change in spawn rate of top equipment, coyote backpack and ghille suit. Here is some data about spawn chances of modified items: (0.01 means 1%) http://imageshack.us...7/broniehe.png/ There is also change in vehicles spawn rates. Number of vehicles is increased but spawns are delayed. So if vehicle is destroyed, next chance may occur next few days but not immediately. There is also a change about UH-1. There is only 1 UH-1 on the server. After it's destroyed it's spawned randomly next 4-7 days manually by main admin (there is no chance to guess when UH-1 comes back into the game). 5) Statistics We are working on statistics table. I'd like it to be somewhat like the first post. Wrecked vehicles, chopper crashes and other peoples vehicles could be sources to drain fuel from. * Sneaking into an enemy base area and draining fuel out of their vehicles would be a great tactical move if the number of members differ too much. * Taking the fuel out of one vehicle and putting it in a more important vehicle or one that allows for a faster or safer escape. + oooh shit I must go :P ~doesn't finnish~

Yes... this is exactly where I was going with the script... I know SQL... and can have a job run every 10 or 15secs... and if player is off map... I will know... I am just new to DayZ admin... and not sure if/how I could notify the user when this happens... any help here would be great... What I would like to do... * Have a SQL Job Checking for Players out of bounds... ** Warn them about Vehicles that are out of bounds during server reboot will be lost... * Have a Second Startup Script... ** It will look for Vehicles that are out of bounds and move them to their original spawn... *** This will happen ONLY if there is no other vehicles withing 10m or so... **** AND There has not been another vehicle spawn from that same location... (same world_id or whatever...) I can get all the sql working in about 10 mins... but the ingame player notification... that is where I will need help... anyone know how to do this... preferably from SQL Script... (maybe call a bat file that will admin chat user... or something like that) Thanks for your help - Sea -
So I've played Dayz since... well I can't even remember it was that long ago, maybe 200k players or something. Yes I'm looking forward to standalone like everyone else. Yes I hate Warz. But basically my gripe at the moment is the fact that I cant find a server that is regularly occupied by more than say, 2 people, or doesn't have half-arsed, amatuerish changes made to it, to make it resemble a Battlefield 3 add on. (6 choppers and 200 vehicles etc). I'm quite happy with a basic 'vanilla' map, but it appears the more servers there are the less good ones appear. With the standalone, at least I'll have peace of mind it's how it's supposed to be. What do you think?

Do we need IEDs for the upcoming zombie convoys in the next patch? Makes no sense blowing up the entire loot because that's what it's good for and having almost no vehicles in the future of DayZ it's a useless item.

vehicles take time to respawn after being destroyed, server restarts don't matter, like the chopper takes a whole week to respawn, and i think most other vehicles are the same. Plus if vehicles have been saved by others then no matter if the server is restarted they wont be at the spawn points, they will be wherever the last player to use it saved it. Basically if you want a vehicle and they aint at their spawns then you are going to have to go hunting about for them.

I'm at a loss here... I've joined a server that JUST got restarted and I hit like 15 different sites that should have vehicles, i.e. UAZ, GAZ, Old Bikes, and Motorcycles, yet all the sites had nothing there...? What gives? Spots that should have a couple of bikes and even motorcycles didn't have anything there. Am I not understanding the rate of spawns? I know that certain vehicles spawn faster than others, i.e. bikes every 4 hours vs GAZ which I think is every 12? But, it's a newly started server... shouldn't everything be there? Can someone explain the vehicle spawning process to me?

Like i said at the top, Having gas stations and fuel dumps have limited amount of fuel (enough to fill on car tank) would make it harder for people to get fuel, as the more people with cars the more empty these will be, having them fill up at a very slow rate would mean that it is possible to have your car on the road but it will be risky as other people will be looking to get the fuel too the ability to guard at gas station makes it a fun competitive addition to the game, especially for big groups with multiple vehicles i do like the idea of being able to siphon gas from other players vehicles would be cool so you can get more gas and not have to have another vehicle to tend to for the reasons above lol

CORE is now hosting a DayZ Namalsk server which runs on a private hive at DayZ.st (London) We are a UK based clan, and in the not too distance future we will be turning the whitelist on (the functionality is all there, but the community isn't large enough yet.) We run a full backup every ten minutes, so there is little chance you will ever be 10 minutes behind in the case of a server emergency. Multiple admins run Gotcha to keep an eye on the server when we are at work, and the logs are meticulously combed. Side chat is enabled but excessive mic use is not tolerated. You must be over 18 to apply for the whitelist (currently inactive) You must use English if you are going to chat. We hope to grow our community to a good size and then turn on the whitelist (to stop the drive by hackers) so the game can be enjoyed by everyone. Yes it has been discussed before (to death almost) but that doesn't detract from it being a good point, and one I believe has been noted by the developers. The fact is the mod has it arse round - there's loads of fuel but few vehicles! Surely it makes more sense to have vehicles more common (to be honest most of them are crap anyway and offer very little advantage) and have fuel a bit harder to source. To me it makes more sense to have players need syphoning kits as resources in addition to jerry cans and have players rely on scavenging wrecks or rarer spawnable cans fuel in industrial buildings. Syphoning the fuel should be a time consuming business to increase the risk of it and make players more vulnerable when doing it. As far as Gas stations are concerned, maybe have a specialist syphoning drilling kit that's needed and make gas supplies limited for set periods of time in the servers life/cycle to prevent large groups of vehicles constantly being able to refuel at these bottomless pits of fuel.

Would be realistic, and besides most admins and clans own most the vehicles already, And people do log off so that would mean an opportunity to get in their and get that truck. It may make people co-op a lil more cos if they dont their will be no fuel and no vehicles :P

Maybe gas stations have limited amounts of fuel that runs out. Then have a fuel depot up north, and a fuel truck that can be filled from the depot (But fuel cannot be put into fuel cans or vehicles from the depot or truck.) So players would have to fill the truck up and take it to a gas station to fill the tank up there from the truck before they can get fuel from the gas station if it was empty. PS - the fuel truck can be fuelled at the depot only, so it can drive. But so that players dont just drive this truck about, if the tank part is shot at the truck will explode, as would irl :P

Not sure if you will like them but hey :P Commander - Someone who leads a small group of members, Warlord - Someone who takes a couple of members to raid a town, Driver - Someone who will drive vehicles to transport items and members, Officer - Someone who controls new members, Pilot - Someone who will fly helicopters, (Joke Rank) Slave - The meatshield/Bait/Distraction.

Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. Just updated Celle on all servers to the version that is compatible with Play withSIX, you can download it directly at http://dayz.st/files/Celle_Dayz.zip or from the source at http://opendayz.net/downloads/maps/celle/Celle_Dayz.zip or just use Play withSIX to connect. We just updated the map tool today to the version we've been working on - animated player/vehicle trails and rotation still aren't working/tested completely yet (they are in the code of the new map but disabled) but we fixed a couple problems where the map would stop working if players or vehicles had invalid location data (which we've seen a few times and was probably causing your issue). It now uses AJAX to pull data from your database so it may take a second or two to load instead of instantly like before. Click 'spawn' next to the max vehicles setting in the control panel? As for the spectator tool - I'm going to see what I can do, the problem is it's a completely different mission file and we compile missions on-the-fly using the bliss compile scripts which this is totally incompatible with. We can't reliably do things like enable rMod or side chat with the spectator missionfile currently. Also Dallas/Washington DC are sold out again, will probably try to get a Washington DC server up today, but it may take until Monday because of the weekend.

The database does not lie and all of these fine folks would not praise our server if I was "running players off the server" fyi the reason why teamspeak was empty was because it was damn near 3am where most people log off for the night. Alien lab you only ran into me at that hour was because I was redoing our custom buildings after a server mishap. I explained why you were banned personally and you started insulting myself and my server hence why you were banned from teamspeak. I have no problem discussing bans but I will not tolerate people moaning, crying and just out right raging because I caught you. Get over it, we pay attention to our server and if you spawn weapons equip. vehicles or even use a map hack we will find out eventually and you WILL be banned from our server. We run a private hive and if our staff determines someone is playing unfairly they will no longer be welcome in our community simple as that. I treat everyone I deal with exactly the same, no special treatment or exceptions will come from me.

Bandits I can handle. Its hackers that are the real issue. As for the suggestions: Blood on hands if loot a player corpse. (zombies can smell the blood on you, and you can get rid by washing in a lake) no... countless times I've just found a body. Even nonbandits loot corpses... High powered guns much louder so if fired near zombies they come running. they already are & do. All high powered guns only spawn far up north, and make it cold up north so need certain clothing, drugs & food to survive the trek. most already do, AND they nerfed pistols to be weak as water (takes a full mag to kill a zombie unless its a headshot...) So the game is now more boring, and the new spawns who find a pistol first, can't defend themselves against the guys who came back down from the north with that already loud powerful rifle. I say put pistols back to where they were. 45 cal was made to be a slow moving but HARD hitting body stopper. Zombies should go down to it like they used to. Also vehicles break down in the cold and disease spreads way quicker in the cold. Vehicles already break when anything looks at them. And you want more breakage? Already you get sick real easily on the water, and you want more of that? Go play namalsk. Derp. All that should slow down the KOS mob with high powered guns cos if they die its a long dangerous trek to get more. No... it doesn't. Scarsity makes people more desperate, more likely to KOS. Namalsk is proof of that. Scarse food, easy sickness... people KOS constantly. -

Gas siphoning - good idea. But one slot is enough, they aren't that big/bulky. All you need is a lengbth of garden hose. Wish you could use that to fill the chopper... Lootable vehicles (for parts) I've thought of that but not posted. I too think is valid to be able to loot parts from vehicles... New tool box action? Eh, not sure I'd want to stand around for 2 minutes watching my character rip an engine out. Realism is one thing, boredom is another. Scavanging parts from abandoned cars is fine, but don't make the game tedious. -
Found an AS50, M107, FAL and NVGs at the same crashed heli site once, that was pretty good. Best legit setup I've had (i.e. weapons not obviously hacked in/finding vehicles with spawned-in weapons) would be AS50 and FAL.

That would have been epic to have seen that happen. They were all probably butt hurt after getting all the vehicles together and following some coherent plan. Probably on their way back to their "secret base". Were you screaming over direct or side chat when diving bombing them? Should of ejected and watch the fireworks!
