    Dayz.st , first impressions and then some.

    Just noticed today (I haven't had a chance to get on in about a week) that they have included the rmod when selecting vehicles to spawn. And included quite a few awesome new vehicles. I have had them for about 3 weeks now and very impressed. If you have not seen the new vehicles check them out now. Had a blast with them this morning. Just wish they would do the same with weapons, which I feel is on the way.

Es gab bisher keine cheater/hacker Zwischenfälle und das zweite sehr positive auf diesem Server ist, dieser Clan hortet die Vehicles und Waffen nicht wie es andere tun. Die Leute spielen selber in 3-4 Mann Gruppen und erschiessen sich auch gegenseitig, was ich für die Spielmechanik als sehr wichtig ansehe. Bei Problemen wird einem im TS geholfen und das auch wirklich gerne. Also wer mal wieder richtig in Ruhe und ohne nervende Hacker und Deppen spielen möchte, der sollte sich hier mal einfinden. Vorheriges registrieren im Forum und Eintrag in die Whitelist ist Pflicht. Das sollte kein Problem sein, denn dafür hat man eben seine Ruhe vor all dem Mist. Gruß TR!PLE

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

    I'm not impressed with what I've seen from all the updates. Screenshots look no better than the mod. I don't understand the "wow" factor people write about it, when it's pretty much the same thing. Maybe I've some untrained eye but the "Day Z vs Standalone" Comparison screenshot looks like the brightness was turned down some, and the Standalone has an additional structure/road it looked like. Wow! Seriously people... Some of my cons. - No real character progression other than gear... which is the only way we "progress" in the mod. - A disease system that I cannot see adding to the gameplay in anyway shape or form. Yeah great, I just took some boots off a dead guy and now I have some deadly virus. That's going to be as lame as breaking a leg walking through a doorway. - Release date, to which everyone thought was nearly concrete of Dec 2012. Now a "we don't know." So, before we were under the impression we would be getting a work in progress game. Now should we assume we are going to be getting a basic polished/ready to go version? Some of my pros. + Customizable weapons, clothing, and persons. This is kind of "standard" in any game, honestly. People want to personalize and make things their own. Finding that new baseball cap and getting a tattoo is not really progression however. (See con above) + Mad Max styled vehicles. This is another as to be expected in this type of game, just happy it'll be added (maybe). Though who knows if we will ever get it. + MMO Server Architiect I sincerely hope that along with this we will be getting official Day Z-only servers. Characters are dedicated to those servers/worlds like in typical MMOs and no community servers. I really doubt this will happen though and it'll be another... same as we have deal except how the "Data" is handled.

Intro: Hey new players, presumably a lot of you bought ArmA II for DayZ alone and I'm just gonna make a little post on how you can improve yourself at DayZ/Arma in general, as well as not losing interest, which I'll point out some keys in the way you should look at your starting days. How to prevent losing interest: Now, I've had lots of friends buy ArmA for DayZ then lose interest after dying a few times, and haven't ever played again, and I realize that dying when you just start if frustrating. However, there's measures you can take to prevent these deaths and overall loss of interest. First thing's first. Learn where each spawn location is, and where you should head from them to find some mediocre loot while maintaining a relatively safe route for PvP. This will drastically decrease your amount of deaths, and will set you up for success later in these lives, as you'll have loot to set off for friends, or even solo with. You can find the name of your spawn here, and see which places offer the easiest, yet necessary loot. http://dayzdb.com/map. Now please note, this map does NOT show high PvP areas, but based off the loot/sizes of areas you can see which places are common for snipers/PvPers in general, I'll also include a list down below of each area where PvP generally happens, and the danger of it. Also, another thing you can do to avoid deaths is notice patterns, or behaviors you take that lead to your deaths, such as not being careful enough, getting too impatient, etc. The last thing to keep in mind to avoid losing interest is that there's not much in DayZ that gets interesting fast. Everything in DayZ, or in ArmA in general takes time, and if you're expecting to find the best loot, a helicopter and have a tent full of guns in 10 minutes only to die, you'll be disappointed. Getting better: Now for getting better at Day Z. One thing you could do is get a group of buddies to play with you, and have each of you communicating via TeamSpeak, Skype, etc. this will give you a lot of support, my only warning doing this is be prepared to fight over guns, and be the leader, and break up the fight before it turns into something ugly, and breaks the group apart. Next thing you could do is try to play some other ArmA gamemodes and practice in gunfights. ArmA is a really really realistic game, and if you wanna get really good at it, I'd suggest trying ACE mod. ACE is another gamemode in ArmA where you basically try and clear enemy presence across the map during player made missions, which is pretty cool, but it also allows you to have certain jobs within a squad so you can practice teamwork as well. Ex, medic, in ACE being a medic is very similar to DayZ in the sense you have to pack a lot and always be ready to throw yourself on the front to save somebody else, while still maintaining safety for the rest of your buddies. However, that's not all you can do in ACE, in ACE you could be a squad leader, which will help you, when making decisions for the team in DayZ. One great thing about ACE is that it gives you the feel of getting shot at and the reflexes on how to react to it. Because I can't even count how many times my buddies whom solely bought this game for DayZ have died because they think during a firefight it's appropriate to just prone and hope the other guy loses sight, which in some cases (Ghillie suit in a field of grass), it is an acceptable response but a majority of the time in cities etc, you have to revert to an all out firefight, and at times it's a 2v1 firefight at times its a 5v5 at times in really populated servers I've had a 10v12 firefight, but that's besides the point. The point is that you can lose interest in Day Z and ArmA as a whole solely on the fact that you're not well adapted to how the style of game should be played, and my suggestion would again be to play more of ArmAs offerings, and play in a group. Playing tactically is gonna make you win your gunfights a whole lot more, and survive a lot longer. YouTube Tutorials: One last thing before the PVP chart, do NOT I repeat do NOT follow a YouTube tutorial on how to play Day Z. Not that they're bad or anything but a majority of them are made a million times, which means every jackass troll in Day Z has seen them and makes tactics to counter them. You want to develop original routes, original tactics and learn from the best of ArmA. I can almost guarantee to you those trolls in DayZ with the AS50 (Not to say it's a troll gun it takes plenty of skill to use without rangefinders at distances about 500m) only came to ArmA for Day Z, so if you can practice up, get yourself built up in strategy, manpower, leadership, and firepower you'll be an unstoppable team. Dying: Dying is part of DayZ and yes, it sucks. However, although losing everything you just worked for is a real bummer and can sometimes be from the most absurd reasons, don't take dying as a chance to call it quits. Each death is a new learning experience, so take it that way, and just try again. This ties in with the whole losing interest topic, and really it's a part of Day Z that cannot be avoided because eventually you're gonna die, everybody is gonna die, and the only thing you can do to try to stop it is make it less frequent by following some of the tips here. PVP Zones: Please note that these notes based off of my experience in Day Z. Northwest Airfield - The most common place for experienced, and well equipped players to camp for loot is here. Snipers are incredibly common here, and if you go in here recklessly you'll more than surely die. There's a lot of tension and firefights here, if you plan to loot it I'd recommend being quick, but quite. It's one of the highest PVP'ed areas in Day Z. Stary Sobor - This city is just as normal to every other city, with the exception of the tents in the back of it which allow for some quick, semi good loot, to good loot if you're lucky. And that is what turns this place into a sniper haven, let alone looting these tents gives any sniper enough time to calculate your range, and carve your name into his next round. Be careful here, and try not to attract much attention. Balota Airfield - It's a common place for newly spawned players to have conflicts with each other, and a fairly common place for mid-tier equipped players (Remington 870, guns in that category, maybe a M16 etc.) to look for ammo, etc. However, the tents closer to the shoreline have the best loot here in my experience, and are rarely ever watched because they're covered by trees on the northern side, and have no hiding places on the southern side. So they're commonly safe to loot. Elektro - There's snipers who sit on the hill directly north of the power plant (The place with a firestation, and huge smokestack) here. They mainly watch the top of the schoolyard and hospital but they will be looking around occasionally, most of the players if not all the players you see in the city itself are gonna be newly spawned. Experienced players don't like to come here often because it's not a source of a lot of loot they'll be needing other than a hospital but even then it's probably already looted by all the newly spawned players since most of the games spawns are on the East side of the map. Cherno - There's snipers who camp the silos and back of the city (near the hospital/apartments), but they're easily avoided if you're safe not to expose yourself for a long enough period of time. However, there's plenty of rogues in the city itself too, so be cautious when running through Cherno, especially on highly populated servers, and if in a group always be looking around for other players, and be careful going anywhere. A lot of the players here will be newly spawned, there is however a chance you could run into well equipped players looking for med supplies to restock their medical tent at their base, so always be on the lookout for them, and if you see them, it could either be some easy loot, a ticket to book the hell outta there, or a death, you decide. Zeleno - This city is located almost in the middle of the far west side of the map. It's pretty large, and contains a lot of residential loot (Ghillies, food, water etc.), but I've rarely ever heard gunshots here, and have never actually killed anybody here. I've seen a few people walking into it in a team, but other than that, I'd call Zeleno pretty safe from my experience, but still despite what this guide tells you, be aware as it is a place for people to come looking for ghillie suits etc. Berezino - Definitely the largest city on the game, as well as the least traveled. It holds 2 shopping centers, 4 military spawns plenty of gas stations/industrial spawns, but rarely any dead players. I've seen a collective of 3 dead players here, but unlike other major cities in Day Z there's not really many vantage points for snipers so most of your engagements will be close quarters. a lot of this is contributed to the fact there's almost no tall buildings and you're surrounded by large empty fields, which let it be known, can house a lot of helicopter crash sites (which contain some of the best loot in the game, including the AS50). Northeast Airfield - This is one of the least traveled areas in the map, and to be honest I've got no idea why as it contains a helicopter spawn, which is probably the cause for most the gunfights that go on here, but besides that this airfield is relatively safe, but not really worth going to. I'd rather go into the city near it for industrial loot to try and fix up one of the vehicles that may spawn nearby. That's it guys, I hope I helped.     All I know is I've updated these scripts and ran them all and there is almost NO increase in auto kicks/bans or reduction in cheating... How are people dropping cars with specific inventory in game, desintegrating building? PLEASE take the time to check out some of the videos I've posted on YouTube... Me server gets ASS RAPED every weekend in new and interesting ways it makes it pointless for a legit player to try building up a base or fixing vehicles because they will all be gone or destroyed come monday morning... I'm really not trying to bitch but I don't understand this stuff enough and feel that the documentation and reporting system SUCKS really bad, On top of that we are FORCED on a public hive to run BE which IMO is not NEARLY as effective as a responsible admin counter-hacking... I got global banned for using a tool to get myself unclipped through a wall while testing a new release (and that was only because I ran it wrong or it was a 3rd party CD theft tool I have NO idea) ON MY OWN SERVER WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS ON... NO ONE was killed NOTHING was destroyed or spawned in... I moved from inside a closed off room I clipped through (dismount bike animation clipped me through a wall to a un-enterable building)... I teleport 2 meters so I can keep testing a Build release THE NIGHT IT WAS PUT OUT... so I'm sure my players will not have major issues... and I get global banned. For the record the "tool" I was using was "local only" IE I can't even spawn in crap that will stick or other people can use.. it ONLY affects me... yet every weekend I go running around the map someone has spawned in SUV's (not even allowed in chernarus) or helicopters flying around surrounded by a box of buses... or nukes, or AI "helicopter swarms".... NONE of which have so much as a hint to their existence in ANY of the logs that I can find... The ONLY thing that makes catching hackers easy in the logs for me is: 1. Complete shitheads who type talk about hacking like above 2. They are dumb enough to blow up TONS of stuff... I know for a fact that several players TP ALL AROUND the map but it doesn't get caught by any of your logs nor do they get kicked... Again a lot of this is MY fault as I haven't taken the time to go through all this logging, scripting, and interpreting... I add on average 5 bans a day based on what I find in the logs, but it takes a LOT of combing through and work, and I KNOW that not only am I missing a LOT of hackers. I'm fairly sure I'm COMPLETELY missing the MOST SERIOUS ONES... I know it's long but PLEASE take the time to watch all 3 parts... THIS is what legit admins are facing and having to do in order to figure out whats going on... I nearly died 3-4 times having to RUN down to Elektro because I don't have 1/10th of the power that a hacker does on my own server... I am more than happy to provide you with logs and details regarding what script/log files I had running at the time... but agin ZERO entries... That 45min. video for ONE hacking incident took: 2hrs of running 1hr of running around the town seeing WTF had happened 1hr of reviewing logs trying to see if the two guys were logged in any way I would have noticed if I wasn't on or reading the console log 2hrs of video editing to try to show how impossible it is for a caring admin to have ANY control or order on a public hive I'm not trying to beat you or BE up. But you guys can't keep blaming DayZ and DayZ can't keep blaming you... And we as admins of public hive servers are left with 2 options... 1. Watch the public hive burn in front of our eyes despite our love for it 2. Give up and walk away /rant. And on a side note I want to be clear how much I do understand what a difficult task you're faced with... however I think BE and DayZ can come up with a VERY simple system to solve this... Admins can't get or kill on their own servers and they can't be banned on their own servers...that CAN NOT be a hard thing to impliment... Shit even if it's done on the honor system the GOOD admins could sniff out the bad one's in a jiffy.... We make a list of the remaining public hives, who is admin'ing them and then start dealing with that i/o trying to ban every hacker in the universe that can just get another CD key for free or dirt cheap... Admins left standing can split duties of keeping the un-claimed or hacker friendly public hive servers up and safe.... Keep in mind this suggestion would likely either force me out of control of my own server or force me to accept outside help as currently I am the ONLY active admin for BOTH of our servers... the private hive is all but empty so it's not much work... but the public hive is absorbing WAY too much of my time w/o help and with the way hackers are dealt with now. I know that you are employed by BE only, but you are the main contact between BE and DayZ no? Pretty sure DayZ Dev team would be happy to hand over Public Hive issues/security to a community group.. it's all but been stated.... and I can't imagine you like having to be one of a small group reviewing THOUSANDS of daily hack reports coming out of this game ONLY... I think that BE focusing on logging if the Admins are cheating, then the Admins focusing on getting rid of cheating players.... we will end up with a MUCH MUCH cleaner playing field VERY shortly...

    Last Week Of Fun ! Before Moving Over

    2 day crazy bonanza , of 20 choppers and loads of armoured cars ! just for the sh*ts and giggles , we're basically moving to a new server in the next day or 2 , and thought we'd give something back for the folks playing on our server , as you probably have already seen, we have 500+ buildings ( 90% lootable ) custom skins from the whole of arma 2 ( ask for it in the server we'll apply it to your character ) new weapons and a new improved NWAF and NEAF ,3 huge A.I camps ( between 20 - 100 A.I at each camp ) and also around 18 random roaming AI patrols ( all heavily armoured ) all packing heat LOL !   14. My issue is that 3rd person totally overcompensates for the lack of mechanics implemented in the game. Like if you wanted to look over a wall, exposing your head only, you can't. Instead you use third person view to simply watch over walls, no matter how tall they are without a millimeter of your body sticking out. Honestly, none of those seem like a big deal aside from vehicles. There are already mods for ARMA that deal with clumisness of guns in interiors and stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar has already been implemented in DayZ SA with the controls being more streamlined. FOV is already adjustable and frame rate is pretty much the same in both views. Whatever you gain by a more zoomed out view, you lose it by more stuff to your sides having to be rendered. For vehicles, ideally we would have an option to see out of the window. As a temporary solution, enabling 3rd person in vehicles would work fine.

    Why do you use 3rd person?

    First off, CoD and Battlefield are for casual gamers. I think the people that get dizzy in CoD and BF are called "facebook gamers" or something worse. There are enough first person shooters on the market and even if the view was why they were popular, which is not the case in my opinion, it wouldn't matter because the scale of this game is much larger than the garden variety pew pew arena respawn deathmatch garbage found cluttering the market. And it's kind of late in the game to chance one of the most recognizable features of dayz, in my opinion. I guess Third Person is the new whipping boy now that a lot of the hacking has been reduced thanks to whitelisted servers. So now everyone wants to blame their deaths on the "exploitation" of the third person camera and not on their poor tactics or their poor choice of routes into locations. TP takes some getting used to and since there really isn't a campaign for DayZ, I strongly recommend everyone fire up Arma2 and play some missions or even the campaign until third person becomes second nature. Once you learn to use it effectively you can imagine how others are using it. It's more than just peaking around corners or going prone on top of some sniper nest in Cherno. You have to anticipate where players are likely to hide to get the best view of wherever you're trying to move to. Then you have to find a route to your destination while minimizing your exposure. That's harder than strafing side to side in first person or sprinting past a doorway with ALT held down until you think the coast is clear. I honestly don't see why you guys think the game is any easier when an opponent can spot you from just about anywhere. It's easier for them to spot you if you run around without thinking but not easier for them to approach you. If you're taking your time and not just running through Elektro trying to gear up as fast as you can then you'll likely have plenty of opportunities to spot any player trying to get the drop on you, short of sniper hill. Knowing other players are using third person also adds more tension as you never do know if you're being watched. Yes. Adapt. Forcing everyone into first person will make the game easier for the third person haters, and they know it. Reasons why FP view is awful: Framerates - if you're pushing 20 fps, cities and forests look like ass in FP. Third Person mitigates the noticeable stuttering and the game becomes playable. Arma/DayZ eats computers for lunch so only the best rigs, or random freaks of nature, are pulling smooth framerates in the cities and forests. Field of View - it's boinked. Sure, this could be improved quite a bit but I don't think the devs are too focused on this though. The design of some interiors - It's hard enough to squeeze through some doors in TP and I've been playing for months. I can't imagine there was a lot of reason to run around inside some of the buildings in Arma as much as we do in DayZ. They don't seem to be designed for the kind of use they're seeing. It won't solve the "cheap" deaths people experience - It'll make it worse as more people will find its easier to doorway camp. Vehicles - Some do not appear to be designed with FP view in mind. Try driving that V3S in FP or ride in the back of any of the cars. Not being able to see out the window I'm sitting next to is immersion breaking for me. Climbing ladders - This made me want to puke at 50 fps Reasons why FP view is awesome: Immersion - Despite it's flaws, it really does beef up the immersion and makes looting and navigating harder. Driving - It's fun to be the driver, even if you can't see. Zombies become a threat again (this one could easily be overcome with experience) Plays differently across the board.

These ideas would make a lot of sense and actually, I have heard you could be able to add components on vehicles such as a tarp to keep it hidden so I wouldn't be surprised you could add some upgrades but the problem with that would be more weight being added to the vehicle making it run harder which could cause possible overheating and more gas consumed if those were major factors. Shooting out of the car was already addressed by Rocket, I have a quote here.. During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car. Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that? A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done.     Reading the latest rocket chat interview by shannon, i even doubt that the standalone will be released this year lol. Q: Do you think we will see any kind of leveling for your character? A: We feel pretty strongly (definitely I do) that the levelling you do in DayZ is your gear, perhaps the different thing about DayZ is that.. I think Zero Punctuation put it very well when he said the great equalizer in DayZ is you can suddenly turn around and kill someone and take all their gear if you are lucky or skilled and it's not that you have won because you are a higher level. So I don't think we are ever going to have any type of levelling, we are always going to have this focus on the gear being your levelling and I think that's a really cool direction to go. I really want to see us develop more of the character side of it, that is our focus for the next few months, reinforcing the sense of character and beyond that we will look towards end-game content like customizable vehicles towards the middle of the year, stealing another cars bonet because you need a new one or want a different colour etc. At the moment the vehicle system will do exactly like it does in the mod just better performance but later on towards the middle of the year will be heavily customizable and then towards the end of the year providing the game has been successful we can start doing huge things like underground instanced construction. So if they are still working on the game mid year, i only see SA being released in 2014 to be honest.

"hacking" I've only had the game a month I have no idea how to hack nor would I want to... the server was getting raped by hackers while I was playing and the admin "Maccy" decided to just ban me... So can I get an unban, or at least some evidence? I've never seen such admin abuse before I played on here, but maybe it was just the time of day or something so be wary people. Server deatz....   23. Aren't you an OFP/ARMA veteran Dallas? It's kinda strange that you're implying it has been this way since day one with this game. It hasn't. Even DayZ at the beggining had plenty of full 1st person servers because unlike now 3rd person wasn't enabled on practically every server. Third person is popular because it is easier and allows people to peek around corners and over the walls without being seen. Just like 24/7 daylight or 1000 vehicles 100 choppers servers are getting more and more popular. If we were to go with what's most popular, DayZ standalone would be basically ARMA with some zombies thrown in. You're looking at it the wrong way around by saying the problem lies with empty 1st person servers IMO. DayZ mod would have gotten just as big even if there never was a 3rd person option. It's only now that everyone is used to it that removing it would be a problem.
