  2. While reading (yet again), another skills thread, I thought of an idea that will actually be about player skill, and not...not player skill. To make things more interactive. For example, put more first aid stuffs in the game, and allow players to bandage (for example) through a little surgeon mini-game. From the surface, it appears all you have to do is move your mouse around to bandage your wound. But there would be more optional things sorta hidden. Like dose the wound with alcohol or peroxide. (or a liquid of any kind, really. Oil if you feel as though that would be a good idea.) Or you could remove the bullet from the wound if he person you're operating on was shot in a little...remove the bullet type minigame thing. (I was thinking this would be more time consuming and delicate. Could cause the patient to scream or something, attracting zombies and players. Unless you put him to sleep, of course.) And when you give an injection, you have to put the needle in the correct place or something. Same with reparing vehicles and stuff. (I don't know anything about cars, sorry ;~;.) This will allow actual player skill and knowledge be implemented into these things, instead of any average Joe being able to do them with absolutely no knowledge on the subject. It won't be TOO complicated, but it would be complex enough to prevent everybody from doing everything. Imagine being the offical mechanic of the group you're in. It also could promote team play. It could be: "Dude, can you fix my truck", instead of "Dude, I'm just gonna take you out because I can fix my car myself". Sounds pretty cool to me.

    Editing map in 3d Editor

    So i have rmod running on saintly server setup and can join, i think its working correctly because i added this 'default dayz banned' rather peculiar looking heli "Ka137_PMC" to my database and it spawned in the map. :0 happy dayz (excuse the pun). so i know how to add vehicles and spawn points for them etc. my question is all the loot and guns that spawn are still default dayz stuff what do i have to do to get all the 'rMod unbanned' stuff to spawn in the map too? also how can i use the custom player skins that rMod apparently adds? Other than vehicles i don't really know how to get the rest of the new stuff in my game. I'm not wanting to add any buildings with map editor at this point, thanks in advance.

Zombie Ideas for Dayz Standalone Zombies – On the whole, zombies need to be more of a threat than they currently are. Put the fear of zombies back into the survivors. They need to hit harder (like in dayz +), and they should have mechanics that make them formidable. 1. Zombie Variety a. Zombie Types i.Military 1. Within the class of Military Zombies can be several subclasses of different military types. They would have different loot, and different potential abilities. a. Hazmat Zombies b. Army Zombies c. Naval Zombies etc.. u get the idea 2. Military Zombies are usually but not necessarily always armored a. This means they are harder to kill than your average zombie 3. Military Zombies should work together to some degree to try to track their prey. This should be noticeable when comparing the civilian zombies. When entering a building with 2 exits, half of the zombies would go to the other exit etc. ii.Civilian 1. Much like the standard zombies we have now 2. These zombies can have many different appearances to reflect the different parts of society they are apart of. iii.Survivor Zombies 1. If a survivor dies in an area where zombies spawn, then it increases the chance that survivor zombies will spawn. a. They will have backpacks, some will be heroes, some will be bandits etc.. 2. Survivor zombies will have better than average loot, however they might be a bit smarter than your average zombie for example, or perhaps they can rally others. iv.Hybrid Zombies 1. These zombies are more rare, and are people who haven’t been completely changed by the outbreak. They retain cognitive abilities, and aren’t mindless at all. There are different types of hybrid zombies that have different abilities, & different agendas. Killing them would award exceptional loot. a. Types i. The Fearful One – Characterized by their fearful nature, shy when approached. Their cries for help.. “Please help me”. But once your back is turned, they will try to eat you alive. They don’t hit you, they will feed on you where you stand, complete with you screaming for help. 1. Slow to turn into a zombie, this enemy is still partly human. 2. Still suffering from the hunger of flesh, they will try to eat you if you turn your back to them. 3. Exceptional senses, they know you are coming long before normal zombies 4. They aren’t particularly resilient, but they are smart, and will run from you and conceal themselves before they strike once aggroed. ii. The Angry One – Characterized by his aggressive behavior, he can charge you and knock you off your feet. He is particularly strong and can shatter your bones. Shooting him pisses him off, and the more you shoot him the more aggressive he gets. Expect to put the better part of a clip into this guy. 1. Will Kill other zombies to get to you 2. Is smart and not easily hidden from 3. Can pull you from vehicles as he can open the door. v. Children Zombies (fear the children) 1. More uncommon than adult or teenage zombies (due to them just being eaten rather than just infected). 1 to every 100 normal zombies? 2. Different behavior than standard zombies. Very unpredictable. 3. Some children zombies might just sit there and just watch you (how creepy would that be) but if you did anything to alert them, they would scream to alert a horde. Some will chase you. 4. They have the tendency to grapple your leg to slow you down, cause bleeding/infections -keep them at a distance-. 5. These zombies would generally be more infectious than a standard zombie 6. These zombies lack outright strength to do much damage to you, so instead they stalk the survivor hiding behind objects and buildings but constantly following you, persistent, stealthy, very scary. They make little noise when stalking you, but once shot or scared they have the ability to alert all nearby zombies (the horde). 7. Unless killed with a headshot, can alert the horde. vi. Teen 1. Teen models are only different from adult models in their look. Added for the sake of variety and realism. vii. Adult 1. The standard zombie that’s already implemented into DayZ. b. Genders 1. Male for all 3 age groups (Child/Teen/Adult) 2. Female for all 3 age groups (Child/Teen/Adult) c. Zombie Attributes – This will be a list of attributes zombies can have, I would suggest that there can be combinations of attributes that they can have (1 to 3 at a time?) and that its randomized. Different areas might be have more common attributes etc. (heli crashes might have more dismembered zombies?) i. Fast ii. Slow – Have the highest chance of breaking your limbs iii. Grappler – slows the survivor, causes bleeds (all children zombies do this when attacking) iv. Hunter – Stalks the survivor, is stealthy (all children zombies do this once aggroed) v. Rally – A Zombie who can rally other zombies (children have a high chance do this) vi. Infectious – Infectious zombies have a percentage chance to get infectious material on your clothing, or your skin. You need to get rid of infectious articles of clothing because it’s only a matter of time until you get infected. vii. Tactical – Zombies utilize teamwork (military zombies do this) viii. Wandering – Will wander past their normal spawn boundries ix. Missing Limbs 1. Missing Leg(s) – Will crawl, it spreads disease through its blood, stay away 2. Missing arms – Can be fast, it spreads disease through its blood, stay away
  5. I logged into a random server and immediately saw a heli sitting near the coast. I got in to check it out, it was in perfect condition and had max fuel. I checked the guns on the side and they had full ammo, then I realized the suspicion in all of this. After exiting the heli and studying it a bit, I turned around to see a player standing there behind me. All of a sudden there were vehicles appearing everywhere. Another fresh spawn arrived, saw what was happening, and ran away towards Cherno, but I was far too amused to go just yet. Then the guy got into one of the helis and took off..along with most of the other vehicles. I hopped on a bicycle and began to peddle towards Cherno while still watching the fleet of helis and buses shoot off into the distance. I then looked forward, but it was too late as I smacked into a tree. :huh:

    Standalone on the horizon who's in for the long haul on the mod?

    Who's your host? you should be able to back up the install via FTP and then re-install it on another machine, the server stored vehicle and tent info will stay and the public hive info is transferred naturally as players log in to your new machine/ip... So long as the install folder structure is the same it should be copy and paste... if the folder structure is different you just point the launcher's file references to the new paths.... There is someone now working on a variant of the public hive that functions with multiple DB structures and hosts... I am going to start discussing with him about some ideas that might get that to catch on a little faster... I think if my idea will work, which it should, it will make utilizing a central hive structure (likely his) a no brain'er and any hosting company or mod with any clue how messed up things are now will jump all over it... That is on next weeks agenda though... for now... off to place vehicles... somewhere no DayZ admin ever has DOT DOT DOT (like in poetry)

    I own a "Ural" An M35A2 and There is no lock or key. So Excluding all military vehicles except for suv type vehicles then yes on the lock. but you need to have the key in your inventory slot...
  11. Never really posted one of these before so apologies if this is wrong, but we're literally on our last legs here, its damaging our server and costing us players. We host a server through DayZ.ST Server name is now DayZChernarus 1.5.0/100296 - FOXTROT, however it used to be DayZTaviana 1.5.0/100296 when this started. The time zone this happened in is GMT time usually between 17.00 and 22.00, and has happened more than once. Initially we had a guy called Grant i5 who was a regular on our server, however he then purchased hacks and a battle eye bypass, so then we banned him when he started kicking, tping and killing people on our server with hacked in weapons and vehicles. After this, he came back, three times on Taviana and has come back twice since we switched to Chernarus two days ago. Annoyingly I don't have any proof of the Taviana hacks as we figured if we just perma banned him through our RCon tool it would get rid of him, but it doesn't work. I have a conversation of the most recent time which he joined our server, immediately after we banned him. Again, apologies if this is wrong or something, but this guy is literally screwing with our server on a daily basis, I will try and provide more proof when I can. Many thanks and I hope you guys can help us solve this!

Hi All, We're currently looking to recruit more players for our white-list server, bambi's, bandits, hero's and survivors are welcome, anyone 16 or older and speaks english can apply :) We already have a solid group of active friendly regulars who are always a good laugh, we're just looking to get a few more numbers and encourage a bit more pvp and banter maybe ;) The server is UK based, set to GMT -8 (though that may change) and is hacker free. We have vastly increased the number of vehicles and added a debug monitor to view your humanity, fps, health, kills etc. The regulars will happily help new players get familiar with the game or meet for a fight :) If you're interested just register on our forums in my signature link below :-D

    Yes, it is located 11Km south-east of Skalisty but is considerd a debug-area so vehicles and characters will get deleted/reset on relogging.

    Main hive anarchy

    Main problem with transitioning from the main to private hives is the fact you csn't find a vanilla server for shit. I've looked for months now and still can't find one. They all have extra vehicles, custom loot drops, care packages, starting loadouts, etc. I frankly just want to play a pure vanilla and hacker-free server. I have so far been unable to do that.
  17. Think all the vehicle wrecks you see should be drivable so long as you can fix them up and find fuel. In other words, I agree :) Also vehicles will be far more balanced if, as has been suggested will be the case, all the zombies on the map are already spawned.
  18. Namalsk Hardcore: no crosshairs, tags or 3rd person. We host a number of established DayZ and Arma servers on dedicated hardware with robust anti-cheat protection and active ingame admins, plus we have a name and shame policy on banned scripters. We are proud to host a new LIVE STATS page: http://iogc.co.uk/stats/namalsk/ (If you die your stats get wiped) Always action on this Namalsk server - Americans, Europeans and Russians shooting eachother non stop. Don't bother asking "are you friendly". EVR and Stalkers are active. If you've any issues like lost gear, suspected scripters etc, then posting on our forums you will get a quick response. Standard loadout/vehicles etc with a few tweaks (Railgun is in, but extremely rare). We are currently getting 20-30 players consistently in the evenings UK time. Check out our server by filtering iogc in DayZ Commander or use 188.138.122.37:2303. We have our own TS server, website and active forums at www.iogc.co.uk. We'd happy to have you onboard if you like the look of us - always looking for non-idiot new members (mature 18ish+ as we swear etc). Our members age from 18ish up to 60. We like to have a laugh and everybody's opinion counts.

    Great Idea. You would be able to survey the ground for players/vehicles/loot locations. If you get shot down, they would just be risking their location to bandits and Zeds, perhaps a Hero that would like to take a bandit out. Because after all you are a fresh spawn and have nothing to lose besides a great ride. As for suicides that would be a problem... Overall GREAT IDEA wabbit! Thanks,

  21. So I am sure this topic has been brought up before, but just want to see what the communities opinion is on having vehicle attachments. Who would like to see vehicle attachments implemented in-game? Much like weapon attachments this would allow a player with the right parts to customize and improve there vehicle. Now in my DayZ squad I am the driver and I have driven every vehicle ingame, it's obvious that adding things like guns would turn the game into a battle of the most OP vehicle, so instead I made a list of improvements that wouldn't make the vehicle a player killing machine and instead would just improve small things such as vehicle front damage, off-road capability/speed, tire strength, and a bit more. Some Ideas: Improvised pushbar/plow- Could improve the vehicles front strength to allow the ability to go undamaged while driving through chain linked fences, or pushing smaller vehicles out of the way. Improved tire- Maybe a set of tires that could act like a lift kit for offroading and increasing vehicle speed while not of pavement. Roof lights- Improved lighting and allows the player to see behind the vehicle as well. Improvised window armor- This would allow players to attach metal pieces to there vehicle's windows which would allow drivers to have better protection from smaller caliber rounds, obviously .50 rounds would still penetrate this. Engine armor- Much like window armor; round that hit the engine block would have less effect. Roof rack- This would add a storage rack to the top of the vehicle increasing the amount of goodies the vehicle could hold. What else would you guys like to see? if anything... Keep in mind that certain things would just completely make the game unfair, try to keep the ideas more like this: And less like this:
  22. GamingUnity's Vilayerprivate hive server (40 slots) needs active players. Currently running with Taviana. UTC -9 Search GamingUnity in Dayz Commander and come join us. Active admins happy to help out, friendly players (but need more). 200+ vehicles and plenty of heli crash spawns. Server restarted regularly to refresh the spawns. Vehicle resets only done by consensus of regular visitors. Hope to see you there.

    Vulnerable when logged off?

    Additionally, your tent or any vehicle you were using is vulnerable to other players in that server only, as both tents and vehicles stay in 24/7.

    Main hive anarchy

    Who still plays main hive chernarus? Must be a minority of players by now. Private Hives are better managed, less laggy, have more features (such as working fuel stations, more weapons/vehicles), and are generally hacker free (depending on admin awareness).
