My main question as to why I would play on this server, is if you spawn with so much gear and there are easy to obtain vehicles, why not just play Arma II? DayZ is about survival and gearing up, not getting free gear and shooting everyone you see.

This one is good. Nice, easy whitelist and fast if you get it done in the middle of the day (in the US), but that's saying something because if all the admins live in UK then it'd be evening to late there. Good ping, considering my connection has to cross an ocean and US internet SUCKS, nice people- and a strange amount of bikes.... Oh right, and you spawn with default gear, vehicles are pretty hard to come by, and there are no donor perks!

My friend and I were heading to Stary Sobor to load up on more ammo and guns. As we cleared the majority of the military tents, began to hear a faint sound of an engine. Instantly, I thought, "Shit." I told him to stop moving to see if heard the sound as well. He couldn't hear anything. The faint engine sound disappeared and then instantly came back, I told my friend to hide as fast as he could. I ran into a bush, next to the tents on the opposite side the city was on. The sound began to get louder and louder. About 30 seconds later, a HUMV comes into sight. I begin to become extremely tense. "What's happening?!", my friend asked puzzled. "I have a visual on the vehicle; it's a HUMV", I said nervously. We began to worry He, might notice someone had been looting 'his tents'. He continuously is going forward and backing up in small portions. I assumed he was trying to see if someone was trying to snipe him. He continued to do this for what seemed like 5 minutes, but he kept moving to different spots. He started to drive down by the two larger military tents. The vehicle came to a halt. I watched as he turned the car off. The armed driver got out and he was less than 20 feet away from me, and he was armed with what looked like some sort of assault rifle. As soon as you he got he moved toward the bush I was in, and then he went back into his HUMV and drove off a bit up the hill and then turned his lights on and continued to use the vehicles light and shine them on the strip of land I was on. I was forced to repeatedly adjust my position due to the bush not being terribly big. Eventually He progressed down the row of tents. I hoped that he wouldn't notice my friend in one of the tents. The HUMV slowly drove through; I became frantic, assuming that he would be checking the tents as he drove by. Luckily he began to speed up and drive down to the end and drove up the hill. He turned the lights toward the area one last time, then disappeared into the night. I thought I might have heard the vehicle possibly turn off. But I ignored it because I didn't see him anymore. "We should be able to resume looting the tents", I said to my friend. We began looting again and not even 30 seconds later, A DMR round is fired. My friend is hit and immediately knocked out in the large tent next to me. (I was in one of the smaller ones) I begin to panic knowing, there is a possibility my friend might not make it. I had to do something. My friend soon awakes from being knocked out and starts bandaging himself. I come to the decision to dart out of the tent I was currently in and sprint into the tent my friend was in. I dashed out and made it into the larger tent safely, no shots were fired at me. I checked if I had a blood bag in my pack. "Thank God", I thought to myself, as I found one inside. I proceeded to give my friend the transfusion. When the transfusion was complete I explained to my friend that we were going to sprint out and run through the city keeping to any blocking the shooters line of sight. A few shots were fired at us, but failed to hit us. We continued to sprint for our lives out of the city into a field and then down a small slope so the sniper would lose any visuals he had on either of us. Even if he did see us, we were past 300m. So I thought it would be harder for him to get the right mil dot and position himself correctly. No other shots were fired. We ran down the slope and into the forest. We had sprinted near 1000m away from Stary. We were safe for the time being. My friend and I were completely puzzled why a kill shot wasn’t fired through the tent. I thought it was possible it was intended to be non-lethal; maybe he just wanted to scare us off. The answer wasn’t available, we were just glad to be alive. We decided to use the forest as our refuge and went to sleep. Please post some comments about the story! Any criticism is appreciated, constructive or opinionated. Thanks for reading. Have you seen their forums, I was just on there YESTERDAY looking for help to problems and upgrades.... USELESS!! Tutorials section is EMPTY!! 10 hours!?!?!?! I've been locked out of my own server for 24 hours because I yelled at them in a support ticket and hurt their feelings, so they retaliate by NOT helping. I sent this to them ticket @0928 YESTERDAY "Now I get this.... You were kicked off the game. (BattlEye: Admin Ban (DayZ Anti-Hax (Object Access Flooding))) What is that and why am I getting it?? Also, I have tried MULTIPLE times to set the server to 24/7 daytime I have it set to time "static" or "dynamic" (either one with the time set as "always daytime" and NOTHING works, Yes I saved it with the server stopped.... One more item, we have set restarts @0400, 1000, 1600 and 2200.... NONE OF THEM ARE RESTARTING, could you please advise us on how to ensure these work? Ken" It is almost 24 hours later and NO RESPONSE OR HELP YET, maybe before all the players leave our server????? It is Tuesday, where is the new tool?? You guys talk a real nice game, but offer nothing in return. THREE PEOPLE CANNOT RUN A COMPANY I ASSUME AS BIG AS YOURS!! HIRE MORE PEOPLE AND MAKE IT WORK!! I have to go in DAILY or more and re-add destroyed vehicles in because they do NOT re-spawn for days on their own with server resets, even when you set their tool to re-spawn chance of "1" which means every time!! That's right, the server is not auto-restarting as scheduled, my bad. So ultimately, my crew is supporting me by playing on other servers, we pay for one but because I cannot get in and play, we have to resort to playing on someone else's server. I'm SO GLAD I PAY $35 for them to host and manage my server for us............................NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When they read this, they will retaliate by leaving me locked out of my server. BUYER BEWARE!!

Ahh so the vehicles could be anywhere but the location we left them, but still with all the gear in?

If you're new I'd just recommend going with the flow. All your experiences should be wonderful, good or bad, because they're all new experiences. I still get excited running along the coast with just a bandage and painkillers. Been playing a coupla months so I'm a noob too. Also, I use a private hive for hoarding stuff in my tents or sorting out vehicles and friendships; and I use public servers for my action adventures. Night time adds even more to the experience but I understand it's a pain when you're new. You can filter DayZ Commander so it shows only daytime servers by the way. Have fun! :)

I run a completely vanilla private hive Chernarus, it struggles along with about 7-8 people on in the evenings. I am doing this for myself, it is my "go to" server when the other non vanilla servers we run get me down. The server restarts every 3 hours, it is veteran, -12GMT, no side chat, no care packages, no additional wrecks, no extra vehicles and nothing but the standard starting gear (patrol pack, flashlight, pain killer, and a bandage) Since our other server is the main server and usually 20-40 on in the evenings, we don't spend a lot of time on the vanilla server. I personally go on a few hours a week and fumble along wood wookie style but if anyone hollers for an admin I get an alert and do keep an eye on players through gotcha/dart during most playing hours. The server is 206.190.129.92:3408 you are all free to enter and play anytime you wish it will remain vanilla with or without players.

No, it isn't. You don't need to save vehicles anymore, that is automatic. BUT, even when you did need to "save" vehicles, that only saved the items inside of it, not its location.

I was browsing private hives, and came across one with the settings I enjoy, and decided to give it a shot. It had no side chat, which is an immediate great first impression for me. I spawned in Kamenka, and despite popular consensus, I love spawning there. I hit up 4-5 deer stands on my way up north through Zelenogorsk and Pustoshka, checking for vehicles along the way. I was passing through the Zelenogorsk supermarket at dusk, picking up a crossbow (finally, a primary!) and some watches, of course. As I was sorting my inventory, I heard the low rumble of a car engine from the west in between zombie grunts. I was crouched in the supermarket and decided to stay in there, hoping that whoever it was would simply pass on through. This was not the case. A GAZ rolls down the road to the supermarket from the North, and drives past the front door and into the parking lot. It turns around, points towards the large windows of the supermarket, and shines the headlights into the supermarket. I was aiming at the car, waiting for people to get out. I said "If you drop your guns we can be friends. I've got more cover than you. Think about this." And from behind me I hear "I thought about it. I'm going to stick with the initial plan." I freelooked behind be to see a survivor pointing an AK at my back from the back room. He told me to "Drop your gun and we can be friends." I chuckled a bit and complied. He then ordered me to get into the car. Once I was in the back seat, the gunman got into the car and we started to drive off. The driver said "This one must be new." The gunman asked "How do you know that?" "Because he hasn't got shit all over him." I chuckled at the reference, and realized how well it applied to the situation. "These might be roleplayers." I thought. They drove me out to the two barns west of Zelenogorsk, and got out in between them. "Get out of the car and head into the barn." "Why, what are you guys going to do to me?" I wondered, while reminiscing of all the interesting hostage situations I watch on YouTube. "It's just a little experiment." I walked into the barn a little confused and saw a ring of wire kits set up, with a tank trap opening. "We're studying the infection to find a cure. You're going to make a huge impact on the future good of the human race. What's left of it, that is. Now, if you would, please, get into the ring. It's for your and our protection." I walked in, judging the guy's friendly tone as one that didn't mean any harm. I stood in the middle and the driver lit a road flare and threw it at my feet, and he and the gunman ran to the opposite side of the barn. "What are you guys going to do?" They took a second and said "Save humanity, of course! But the first thing we must understand is how the infection works, and how a person "turns". One must know one's enemy." Almost on queue, zombies from outside were walking towards the flare and into the ring with me. "Guys? Can you shoot this zombie for me?" The gunman ran over to the entrance, and placed a tank trap blocking me and the zombies in. "I will in a minute. Now please, there's no way out, just accept your fate and know that your role is important in saving the human race." The zombies started tearing me apart and I begged "What the fuck guys! This is sick, let me out!" The zombies tore into me and as I lay knocked out, bleeding rapidly towards death, they tried to console me saying "Don't worry, we will end your misery shortly, we only need to witness what happens after the initial death." I bled out, and was greeted with the "You are dead!" screen. I wasn't even mad...I was just impressed!

Curious to why so many are saying they are getting so much lag in the past few days - been on the server every day for the last week and never had any lag whatsoever. As for vehicles, people moaning about no vehicles - there are loads, just got to search for them, but expect to loose them if you don't hide them well. Just wanted to have a moan about the fact its working so well :D The admins are providing all of us a service for nothing, this is awesome. On a side note - anyone like the idea of a bus service running from Kamenka to Solchiny at certain points of the day?

Yes. PUBLIC hive server. Hosted by Gameservers.com the one listed in my sig. I don't really get what I can do to change it. but it keeps happening. everytime we have a major hack attack over the weekend and I go to check spawn points there are either double vehicles or one one day then another the next... depending on the timing of the vehicles being destroyed and their respawn rates... I had problems with non-legit stuff sticking on restarts before (thunderdomes and hacker boxes (empty after restart but the set piece remained)... For those stopping the server and waiting a couple minutes then restarting it fixed it up fine... this I can't get to go away... ALL the hacked vehicles seem to spawn with normal damage but at least some fuel if not full ( I don't know if it's leaking out as time goes by or if they are actually spawning with variable amounts of fuel) they also DO NOT spawn with any equipment like the legit ones do, IE no CZ's in White Offroad. Driving and parking as many as I can stomach off map helps for the low value vehicles cuz no one bothers, but the heli's and big trucks get stolen or teleported or destroyed almost EVERY weekend... I've lost any ability to play the game for fun... all I do is run around trying to keep the vehicle quantity as close to legit as I can... I REALLY don't want to do a re-install but I"m going to change the welcome message this week and warn people... Last time legit tents stuck (some duped but TONS disappeared) but vehicles all went back to day one... at the time there was no AH6 or Mi17 and our map had previously NOT been spawning a UH1 so the reinstall actually corrected the lack of UH1 (I don't know if that was a product of the reinstall or a change to the public hive that ensured every map had 1 heli).. Any help is GREATLY appreciatted. I wish there were more resources for Mods who want to host and keep a server running for dedicated legit players... I hate the idea of password locking or whitelisting but I feel like that's turning into my only option.

Me and a few friends were on a Chernarus server a couple of days ago when we found a Ural, we stashed a few weapons in it, some food and we had a tent. Lovely. We then proceeded to head North and scavenge for a bit before calling it at night, the next day we log on and the the Ural is gone... along with our weapons, food, ammo...and tent. Thinking someone must have taken it we go for a scout around and find it 8000m away at Devil's castle and then it disappears as soon as we set our eyes on it...bye bye night vision fal. Last night on the same server me and a friend were in the military tents at Stary and I catch a glimpse of a wheel....IT WAS AN SUV. Freshly spawned it was untouched, until we touched it.... anyway we then drove that around for a bit doing normal Day Z stuff eventually it was a minute before server restart (there was no one else in the server) so we hopped out and waited (our eyes on the SUV the whole time). We log back in to the server (receiving...) , (waiting for chacter to create....) BAM no more SUV. Someone please explain why we keep losing our stuff, we also found a motorbike and a land rover that we fixed up and they haven't disappeared, so why the Ural and the SUV??

Cal, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I wasn't on during the event but I'm going to get answers out of the guys who hosted it. By the looks of your comment, I'm not pleased to see what happened. If you want to come back, I will gladly compensate any damages. I wasn't in charge of the event. Update: Upon further review, it seems that the other Admins took it upon themselves to compete in the event. It's a general rule of thumb to not compete as an Admin. It usually kicks up dust in regards to fairness, I can understand that. They were unaware that they couldn't enjoy themselves as much as the players. They should know otherwise to not get involved and compete. This won't happen again and I appreciate your formal complaint in regards to what happened. Trust me, they won't get off lightly. Andrey, You missed the edit at the bottom of my post. This thread was otherwise dead, so I didn't bother changing much else on it. Nor have I changed the website. The server has been obviously more popular with more vehicles than it has without. Jumping around 2000 positions in less than two weeks (check the game tracker). Regards, Del

We are a fresh, new clan in Chernarus looking to expand. We are known as the Electric Company. We play in a private server that requires you to be whitelisted. It is pretty well popped 30-40 people every night. We are mostly from the states but also are open to recruiting people from other countries as one leader is from Europe. I used to play on NZ Orcon servers before I found another server with DayZ Commander. I've been on a few different NZ Orcon servers this past week though and just seen hacking all over the place. There's no anti hax on at all and no admins or anything. Hotels as far as the eye can see, whole map on fire, planes crashing all around survivors, laser shows, hacked weapon boxes and hacked vehicles, I've never seen hacking so bad. Honestly, just stay away from those Orcon servers.

Hey guys, just purchased by DayZ server today. Reasons for purchasing a server: 1.) Sick of admins abusing their power. 2.) Hackers are rampant in DayZ and I am a very active member and have free time on my hands to check the logs and keep the server fun. 3.) Have a group of close friends that wanted their own safe server to play on. Server Info (Reasons to Join my Server): 1.) 40-50 Vehicles active on the map at all times. 2.) Server is a PRIVATE HIVE [People can't server hop and bring in their own weapons etc.] 3.) Server reset every 8 hours. 4.) I'm an active admin and I have several friends that can watch the logs. 5.) Side chat 6.) 50 Man Server. Hopefully we get enough people to start guilds/clans/factions and feud! 7.) I bought a server from dayz.st they have this thing that lets me add vehicles and spawnpoints of the vehicle I choose each time I restart my server. Can I do the same on any other server because I would like to start a public server and change the spawn points of the vehicles and spawn wherever areas I want and can give random items each time someone logged back into my server? At the time I was hosting a private hive from Dayz.st just wondering about the public server. No I never use any hack to cheap playing DayZ beside its my own server at the time with an admin tools that Dayz.st gave me and wants to know if all public servers have this?
