I have to agree. It's very annoying having to hunt through pages of '1000+ VEHICLES. 200 CHOPPERS. INSTA-REFUEL. STARTING WEAPONS. FREE GHILLIE' servers trying to find one that isn't a totally bastardized version of the original game. Having a good strong 'base' game is the key to any game like this and the ability to stop on one server and start on another and not have to work out how many vehicles are around, what the loot tables are like etc. makes life much easier for everyone.

But we also want an almost vanilla Day Z, without a single extra spawn item (this is a must) and not 298175981751897519 vehicles around (A few more it's ok). I did not see any custom spawn items in the OP so I guess this server is suitable for us. -
im sure alot of players have lost some gear through it being destroyed due to not enough space left in their car or tent. a space counter would be a BIG improvment in vehicles and tents , a simple thing just the same as what is used for back packs would help greatly.

Not a bad idea. I do think the entrenching tool could be put to better use though anyway. Id like to use it to dig vehicles into the ground making them easier to camo from the air. -
Hey guys! My name is Jake. Currently, me and and couple of my clan members (State Farm Squad) have purchased a dayZ server. Its pretty good, we are still adding lots of vehicles, so the server will be restarting from time to time from the regular scheduled restarts (12 hours). But it would be a great chance for you to learn and try to get in good since we are looking for admins... Our server offers new players (for a short while, then we will begin what we call Challenge weeks more info on this email [email protected]) an amazing custom load out including but not limited to an L85 HOLO. There's some more things, but im not here to cover the gear portion. Our server runs a little bit of mods, it includes the debug monitor, Death messages(are a bit glitch), and you can refuel anywhere. we also have rMOD installed. This means that our Fallujah server is going to be running a lot of air/ground vehicles. To be on the point we changed the server to allow 999 vehicles but we have to put in the spawns one by one. This server is usually admin active, but there are cases where it isn't. The admins are very helpful, and love to play DayZ. Like I said the server is good for learns as the amount of vehicles. We also have a teamspeak3 server. And we also are going to start recording gameplay on the server.. The server ip is:173.192.200.126:3357. the custom start screen includes the teamspeak 3 info. I'm hoping that the vehicle update will be deployed this upcoming weekend. This means that all vehicles will be wiped. As such, new spawns are spawning with tents(which were recently re-activated for people to be able to save their gear over the wipe). One week after the vehicle update, tents will be disabled again(unless the tent bug goes away before then). This should give players plenty of time to re-acquire transportation for storage purposes. -

I personalyl dont like the M14 and Im not crazy about the M107 unless there's a lot of vehicles on the server. My perfect weapon load out is a 1911, an M4 Holo or an M16 ACOG and an SVD Camo/as50 (on high vehicle servers).

Hello Players! DayZ(PLN) have just started a new server! It has been up for about 20hrs right now, so there's still alot of stuff to be done but we have decided to open it to the public while we continue building. Come join our community @ http://dayz.pln.nu and get on our server n' have fun with the rest! (Server information will be shown at the end of this presentation, or on the forums). We are currently working on the following: Custom Buildings Vehicle Spawns Devil's Castle Military Base Custom Loadouts And some other stuff :) Things to look forward to in a near future: Events (with special prices) will be shown on the calender on the forums. New Weapons New Vehicles Devil's Castle Military Base Custom Buildings The server will be open to the public without a password in the start. There will be atleast 1 admin online most of the time. The plan is to build a steady player base before we protect the server with a Whitelist/Password. When we have a steady base, we will be using Password and/or Whitelist to protect the server from script kids and hackers. But as of right now, the server will be open to the public! NOTE that the server is still in "Alpha" which means it is only open to for testing, and for lolz. Everything is subject to change. Only a certain number of vehicles spawn on every server. The map on dayzdb lists every POSSIBLE vehicle spawn. There's more possible vehicle spawns than there's actual vehicles. A lot of the spawns will get you nothing. Edit: If you play on private hives, they sometimes have more vehicles, as well as custom spawn points (usually closer to the coast so you have to walk less.)

Hey guys, Currently play on a private hive that restarts every 6 hours. Just wondering how vehicle spawns work. I found a bike at a spawn point located on dayzdb.com and had it destroyed a few days later. On the next restart it wasn't at the spawn location. This confused my idea of how i thought it all work. Anybody got an explanation for me? Also, dayzdb.com seems to not have many of the spawn points of vehicles. Is there a better map? Thanks

It all began at 11:25 AM Eastern Time. I was driving my Military Offroad on a server that a friend had started on, when I come across a guy running across the street, I pick him up (like the nice guy I am,) He didn't sound that old, so I blew it off thinking it was just another kid. I drove around a bit more till I stopped to look at a bus. As soon as I got out of the Offroad, I noticed something very weird, whenever I looked at him I got a sort of "aimbot" that made me aim at his head whenever I got even close to aiming at him. I confronted him about it and he mumbled about it (I later found out that it was him telling me that HE was the hacker). I messaged everyone in side chat asking if anyone was having the same issue, and soon after I got a message that popped up in the center of my screen saying "shut up n***** " . He asked me if I got it, I said 'no' to be sure that he was the hacker. He then announced (again) that he was the hacker. After I heard this I shot him multiple times with the CZ that I had acquired on my short journey, but it had no effect on him. I jumped into my Offroad and tried to drive off, but was soon bombarded by minigun fire around ground level from his direction. After my death, I announced to the server that he was a hacker and listed off those reasons, and I got a quick reply from ZerteC saying that if I didn't shut up that he would "shut my key" I have no video, nor pictures of this happening Server: DayZChernarus - [500+ Vehicles 20+ Helicopter/Planes][Auto Refuel][increased Barracks][Donator Perks][24/7 Day Server][increased Starting Loadout][RECRUIT] Even if you can't stop this script kiddie. I still think it's a funny story to go in the books.

He's probably refering to how you can't find normal DayZ anymore. Most servers are modded to make the game easier, or more COD-like. "9000+ vehicles," "Starting gear," "Increased loot," all that crap. People may enjoy it, but it isn't really DayZ.

If you want to lose your gear, just play the game. You can't win either way. The dirty little secret is that while there may be less hackers on private servers, the server admins can find out where your tents and vehicles are with about 3 mouse clicks. So just try to play with someone you trust, and don't sweat it either way. Hopefully all of this will change with the stand-alone.

Oh god... and this is mine: http://arma2.swec.se...ver/data/355361 There's over 2000 vehicles listed just in the server names, let alone the ones that say "max vehicles" and so on... Custom Map Areas? Max + Custom vehicles? 500+ Vehicles many Hellis? (whatever they are) sigh... Interesting to see average game length of 4 hours when my server has used 6 hour restarts for 2 months now.. kinda highlights what I'm talking about stability wise.

Nice one R.J.. Had forgotten the vehicle repair problems... some have the "magic part" where if you repair that it's all 100%, some refuse to repair at all. Have also had players report similar problems with refueling also, works for some, not others.. sometimes requires a relog to fix, sometimes you might as well give up. Was the same for me, prior to 2 weeks ago server ran great, just had some issues with tents/vehicles not working properly. This lag is a whole lot harder to deal with - sounds very much like you have the same desync issues as me, although they manifest themselves in all sorts of crazy ways... Flying as a passenger in a chopper right now takes some balls! :) Yours also a UK based server by any chance?

I've been looking vehicles for a while now, and I haven't found much. I did find a heli and a car before but they're long gone. Any tips? -
I can vouch for terrible desync and lag. It's so bad you can literally drive through roadblocks and other obstructions. Firing your weapon at zombies or other players usually results in them going down about 20-30 seconds later. In addition to the lag, vehicles still have issue being repaired. Sometimes parts will take and others not. For example, a chopper needing a rotor assembly is repaired with a rotor assembly. After the repair, the vehicle still needs a rotor assembly. Other times, a vehicle needing multiple parts will magically repair after only one part is installed. If anything, the lag these past two weeks was pretty bad. Never had any issues up until this point.

I think that this system would only be effective when coupled with scavenging from other vehicles otherwise i think you would spend far too much time looking for something specific, imagine spending days looking for that particular type of wheel like a truck wheel which presumably would have a lower spawn rate than car wheels.

The AU server is probably our pure vanilla server, and it has the most players out of all of our servers most of the time. It does have a day/night cycle. No extra vehicles what so ever. The US server is the more PvP based server, with a couple of extra barracks at the NE and NW airfields. It does have a few more hueys than normal [although I think I've crashed a lot of them]; a total of 94 vehicles all up. It has, at times, around 30 or so players on, depending upon the time in which you play. Currently our loot tables are all vanilla. Do the vanilla ones have a good amount of players, and a full day/night cycle? Does that mean there are extra vehicles? >.>

Been waiting without response on a support ticket since Sunday morning, will summarise my issues here as well as I'd be surprised if I'm alone with this as most seem to be caused by the default server setup or simply lack of server resources. Some have been ongoing since the 1.7.5 DayZ patch although getting considerably worse lately, others are fresh in the last weeks. - Cannot access my logs AT ALL. Not via web browser, CuteFTP, FireFTP or any other method I can find. This happened early last week and haven't had access since. Nightmare trying to work out anything now. - Server drops to unplayable as soon as more than 15-20 players online. Massive desync, players at times can't even see each other. Vehicles kick passengers out killing them when this happens. Then if the driver logs out, the vehicle will reset to the point where the passengers were thrown out and explode. - Once lagged up, server will start "Seagulling" people meaning wiped chars and lost player base until the server catches up again. - Back when I could still access logs they were full of errors and timeouts, server often seen to drop to 4 FPS and below (I run no custom scripts, only thing I've edited is the default spawn gear to add a hatchet, and upped the vehicle count, currently 79). Obviously when it lags like this it's unplayable. - Server will at times simply lock up. I can't restart it, shut it down, nothing.. Only option is to go to bed and hope it's back in the morning. - All admin tools are massively delayed and often loose communication with the server (Dart, TSW). RCON messages can at times takes upto 15mins to actually reach the server, if they reach it at all. - Players spawn at times inside a building with no exit in Novy Sobor. - Players often teleported to the beach by the anti-teleport script simply for logging in. - Players are often "rolled back" a few mins when they log out, showing the database hasn't saved when they quit. This is being used by people who get killed to re-appear where they died with all their gear still. - If I do a full server rollback to a previous backup it will ALWAYS change my starting gear to include MP5, GPS, Pistol etc.. This means in order to rollback I have to start the server twice to edit this before someone gets in and spawns with that gear. - Server restarts can take anything up to 20mins, and while the logs were still visible this was due to again, huge numbers of errors in the logs. (Please remember I have nothing custom running on this server AT ALL.. these are thrown up by the Dayz.st default setup) I'd love to post some logs to show my issues but of course I can't access them. The last 2 weeks have seen my server go from 30+ players a night and a stable player base to almost nothing thanks to buggy tent saves, vehicles saves and now a totally lagged up server. Would love some sort of solution, or even just a response to my email to say it's been received and is being dealt with.

I heard about the Balota Buddies servers some times, i think i'll give it a try as soon as i die or surviving gets too boring :D my old standard server is unreachable for me since december, so most of my stored gear and vehicles are lost anyway ;)

When I first started DayZ I liked the idea that there are beginner-servers, regular servers and veteran servers. Veteran-servers going for max-realism, 1st person only, highest difficulty, with beginner server set most things to easy, showing your position on the map, giving peripheral vision and 3rd person view. Over the time, with server-admins changing it to how they liked it, that has become more and more unclear. I definitely would like to see something like that in SA. Let a serveradmin choose to set his server to "beginner" - "standard" - "veteran" and "custom" So if a player looks for veteran-settings, he gets veteran settings and only those looking for a custom setup, get that. *sarcasm* Probably because all the COD kiddies want to be able to loot other players now and they didn't include that in their design. there just aren't any people willing to play COD to get killed over and over again so now they have to make a single-player Shooter where the AI brags first but whines over side-chat when it's killed, so that the typical COD-kiddie can get his trollboner... Also a spawn-weapon menu is included by default, to make it even easier for the COD-Kiddie to get his kill. Vehicles aren't invincible, but can be insta-repaired by one button, just to give the cod-kiddie the impression of power. AI usually misses, if it attacks at all, but goes down with epic bloody animations, spraying blood all over the map. */sarcasm* -

OK, so moving on. Due to the large amount of vehicles spawning around berezino these days, I have so far, added in 12 new spawn locations around the map, with the intention of adding more when time allows. This will hopefully mix up the gameplay a wee bit. I have also added in a few new vehicles, one of my favourites being: Stay tuned for proper random damage on all new vehicles as well.
