Howdy, I first want to start by saying; it looks like you have a really well established youtube channel, it looks organized, and proper. Next I wanted to say I am interested in playing dayZ with you and a small group. I have been looking for a small group of reliable people to play with who take dayZ seriously but also do like to have fun while walking from town to town. I will tell you a bit about myself; I am 16 years old and from central United States. I do partake in other activities other than computer such as Football, Hunting, Fishing, and Working, so I may not be available at ALL times. I usually play dayZ as a Hero, and enoy making what I call my "Mechanics Shop", Basically I hoard vehicles and parts. I have a good microphone and headset. From what can be seen so far Pro's Enterable buildings Varied loot ... as long as it serves a purpose rather than tons of pickup trash Variable clothing with inventory space - as long as it isn't over emphasised ... and that t-shirt ends up with no slots Jumping - as long as it doesn't lead to bunny hopping and maybe "step over" stays in as an option Mentioned civilian weapon emphasis - it would be good to see more melee weapons and effective melee combat as well Mentioned customisable vehicles - siphoning fuel and looting parts would be good to see, as they work in the mod. Variety of infected and range of attacks - as long as they're improved quality wise Con's Infected seem to need a lot of work for a core part of the game ... their mod cousins seem better animated and behaved Infected hitting players from several metres away and when not even facing them ... are they using bastardised invisible guns to attack players? Infected glitching through buildings? - did I see that? Apparent inconsistency in loot size for some items - are they reflecting weight and/or importance by inventory size of items? Illogical loot capacity for clothing - six items in a t-shirt? I presume (and hope) it is a place holder for something with pockets like a jacket. Gear menu - needs some work by the looks of it, nobody wants to spend ages fumbling to pick up items and get beaten to death in the process. I'm looking forward to the SA, but the bar has been set by the mod and nobody will want to see features that aren't as good. -

positive. I know for a fact this isnt true seeing as i own my own server and i can't teleport anyone or spawn in any guns for myself, basically as a server admin, you can just restart the server, set the time, set people's spawn gear and check where players and vehicles are -

You must eat nothing but beans and drink nothing but water. You cannot use any utilities except the map, compass, matches and knife. You cannot use any vehicles. The challenge-survive for a month.

Hey I just watched the E3 Standalone demo and was already hooked Watching the zombie movements and reaction times I have guess you guys still fine tuning AI behaviour, also noticed zombies clipping into walls lol So from demo these are rabid Zombies who can run fast at you, also seem die from torso hits so they are technicaly infected biologicaly but still technicaly alive (28 days later style) and not classic, shambling undead (Dawn of Dead style). So here are some questions and ideas JUST ON ZOMBIES! 1) Can zombies form into large groups (20-30) or possibly into a Horde of 100s (Hide or Run you wont have enough bullets haha) 2) Are there going to be different types of Zombies? The Zombies in demo can run and long distance jump, a very recently infected type with lots of energy. Will there be slower zombies who have been infected longer time so they rotted away visibly and lost mobility? 3) Will the ability of zombies to track players once spotted end up endless pursuit for days or will zombies lose interest if you can find good hiding spot for short period time? 4) Decapitation Physics, I think Day Z really needs have realitic decapitation for zombies (you could apply this to players/humans). Swing Axe at zombie take off arm, Grenades could cut zombie in half (half zombie still crawling after you is scary), headshot up close with shotgun could explode skull, brains everywhere :) or hitting them with vehicles have real crash physics and not cartoon bounce. 5) You could still make the Zombies 'Undead' by making things little more hardcore with 'HeadShots Only' mode, destroying brain only true way stop a zombie ;)

Galil is Israeli, and the M1 Carbine and M1 Garand are both American, though I would like to see them (The garand is a pretty popular civilian rifle, the carbine is not as much but is a great gun nonetheless. The Galil would be badass. And on the note of 'replacing' the M16 with an AR-15, no. I don't get why ever weapon added has to replace a different gun, just have both being concurrent in the game and make the M-16 rare. Besides, the M-16 is one of the most common military firearms, falling short of very few other than the AK series, it's common enough that it makes sense to at least limitedly appear (Maybe different variants; M16A1, M16A2 and M16A4 anyone?). I'd be fine with making the m16 and foreign military weapons be rarer. On my note, I'd love to see these; - Maxim Machine gun (It's old and a collectors weapon, many militia groups today still use these and also modifications [Like the Lewis/Vickers guns] so a few of these would be interesting at the least) - MP-38/MP-40 (Post WW2, many german weapons were sold off to other countries and MP-40s alike continued service even into the 1980s as main infantry weapons, chances are that Russia would've passed on MP-40 stocks to Chernarus as aid during the cold war. - M1A/M-14 (Yeah, there's one with an Aimpoint, but I'd like to see one with just ironsights as well as M21 sniper rifles and such. The M1A is a civilian version which makes more or less sense) - RPG-7/Type 69 (The most common Rocket-Propelled Grenade Launcher as well as its Chinese copy. Both of these have been used in so many conflicts worldwide and are in use with tons of different nations and guerrilla groups. While these could still be super rare, it would be nice to have at least some form of explosive weaponry besides grenades and m203s. - M79 (I mainly want the M79 because its solely a grenade-launcher [unlike the M203 mounted rifles] which means that you could take advantage of the grenades being offset by the obvious repercussions of using it at any close range as well as it being slow) - M72A3 LAW (Specifically the A3 because of its enhanced range, the M-72 would be another one of those more situational, super-rare weapons which have the potential for much destruction and combat support but are limited outside of areas. Assuming vehicles can be used more efficiently in combat in the Standalone, the M-72 would be helpful for eliminating an assaulting pickup or whatever, but it's heavy and only can be used once, so you'd have to determine whether or not to take it.) -
Hey Leute ich hab das Forum schon durchsucht und auch Threads gefunden wo mein Fehler steht, allerdings ist mir damit überhaupt nicht geholfen weil bei mir immer noch nichts funktioniert. Es ist halt so: Ich hab mir Arma2 Gekauft ( Combined Operation...also Arma2 Blackedition und Operation Arrowhead) hab alles Installiert, den Six Updater besorgt, Spiel ein mal Laufen lassen. Dann Six Launcher an gemacht und DayZ angewählt, Geupdatet und wenn ich das Spiel nun Starte kommt der Fehler das mir Vehicles Fehlen. Wenn ich dann auch OK Klicke gehts weiter und ich kan neinen Server auswählen. Wenn ich nun eine nServer auswähle Sagt der mir entweder Verbindung unterbrochen oder Das ich Expension Dateien Löschen soll weil der Server den Schlüssel dafür nicht zulässt. Ich weis nimmer was ich machen sol ldamit ich Entlich mal DayZ Spielen kann. Ja ich weis es gibt Threads die wie meines sind, aber damit komm ich net weiter weil der Fehler weiterhin Besteht. In Tutorials wird immer nur Gesagt ( Ja installier das Spiel dann musste dir den SixUpdater besorgen und den Launcher Starten, alels Updaten und schon gehts) ES GEHT ABER NICH ^^ Bitte Helf mir doch jemand ^^

When I heard of the addition of Utes to the DayZ map, I thought that boats and ships would finally get more use. But the boats which are in the game don't have much inventory slots, so after looting utes you might not be able to store all your loot. Then I thought: Why couldn't you bring your car (or even Ural) to the island? There are no amphibious vehicles in vanilla DayZ, so why not split it up? Car ferries could be used to store your loot and just use them as boats, but you could also put your precious car on there to load even more loot- and also Utes itself isn't small, so a vehicle could make sense to use there. What's your opinion on this? Btw, I don't mean huge ocean ferries but smaller ones like this:

Ok Fanboys, prepare to have your jimmies rustled. Running on a dev PC with what looks to be "Normal" graphics at best, and it lags throughout the whole demo. The hitboxes are absolutely dismal, and trying to say otherwise makes you look blind. The player is being hit from miles away, and before the animation has begun at several points. Zombies are still clipping through walls (something supposedly remedied in the newest mod patch, so what's the dev's excuse for it?) The UI is a joke. You're all talking about the excellent functionality, so I must be the only one here who notices it messing up several times. The inside of buildings is nothing to piss your pants over, either. The textures are ugly, and you still can't run up stairs. It's running on the same engine as the mod, and seems to be more poorly optimised somehow. Call it pre-alpha all you like, but I see no progress here from the gameplay demo from months ago. Inventory system is ridiculous (look at the contents of jeans vs bag), not to mention it's ugly as sin. Doors are obviously still awkward to use. They've added extra buildings (something private hives have been doing for a long, long time.) Sorry if I don't shit my pants with excitement. Rocket has specifically said on several occasions that the graphics will NOT be improved upon, so please stop fapping your guts out at how "beautiful" things look, it's making you look silly. No vehicles at release because they're reworking them... I'm sorry, what? Isn't that the point of the standalone? It's genuinely baffling me how this is exciting to anyone. It also seems that we've reverted to the old defence of "It's pre-alpha" blah blah blah. By all means, keep allowing it to blind you. I'd say the rest of us will have moved on by the time this turd comes out. To the rest of you still circle-jerking each other over it, have fun. I think I'll spend my money on a game that the developers have put in the effort to make it look like a current generation title. I wouldn't be surprised if the SA was killed by the mod. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I doubt it somehow. The fact that the forum mods here are going out of their way to give people grief because they don't share their rose-tinted perspective is nothing short of pathetic. Real classy guys, real classy. -

Good The interiors look good. Bad The animations are terrible. The zombies are still hitting you when there not even close to you. zombies bugging through walls possibly no vehicles at launch crosshair on screen??? please remove that shit or give admins the ability to remove it. -
The zombies pathing and animations need to be fixed before making them harder. All the time I run past one and it's like 5ft away and it doesn't animate and suddenly I'm hit or it does the quick animation, hits the air but I'm still hit. They knock you on the floor but they ignore you until you get up....... I don't see the point? I don't get why the loot rates have been dropped, it's impossible to find food and drink now. I also don't get why vehicles still don't exist, I haven't seen one in months on public servers.

I don't believe we will see much leaping zombies. Don'like those much either. And I agree with thos motorbike helmets. They need a big disadvantage but hdy it's early alpha :P Still w.i.p. Ivan and the new guy are working on it. I like it too. Good point. Probably meant at the release on the alpha. There will be vehicles at some point. How communication is handled doesn't really affect how good the game is unless you go on WarZ level.Got to add that things are going like Dean predicted. Some people are disappointed and hype is getting lost when they see what alpha really means and I think he might be happy about that. -

exactly my problem with this, its no longer a survival game...its just a lets hide in the forest and not attempt to go in to cities game. the rarity of basic loot is insane, even in the real world apocolypse. you enter a hospital, you would find some decent medical supplies. You enter a grocery store, and there must be some sort of loot. Not just empty cans... Zombies fine, but bring back the loot tables from 1.7.6 I think they were basically perfect...struggled to find some items here and there, but an hour or so of searching and everything was good. Vehicles were a bitch to repair, perfect. Good guns were rare, hunting knife/matches were perfectly setup, food items were reasonable (maybe too easy) but at least the grocery store was a sure place to go. this could just be the final nail in the coffin for the public hives...in ever play on private hives and dont want to. -

Pros : i liked anything there. + im happy becuase the players can acctually jump enterable buildings alot zombies zombies run indoor inventory dropping and getting things from\into inventory cons: starting a new game with an AK right on the start? i prefer to start with no weapon and then search for one.. 1st person view, the wapon is very low on the screen no vehicles on the alpha, and idk when will the beta start.. demo? that how it calls? -

Agreed as someone mentioned Matts Video is just frigging Childish, no offense to him, i'd do the same, bit of Fun. But the whole thing just smacks of amateurs, and deserves so much better. In another post I asked these questions ( Sorry for those that already read them ) PREVIOUS POST A couple of questions from the Video. Doubt they will be answered by any Devs as its not Twitter or Reddit - Are all Zombies going to Leap/jump at me now ( sorry im a traditionalist when it comes to Zombie genre, and prefer slow moving or at the very least not Leaping Zombies - Whats the facination with Motorbike helmets, Matt almost wets himself when he sees one, looks damn stupid. Somebodies wonderful inclusion that has to be shown now on every Video, looks foolish Watching this Machinima Video and BINGO answered question 2 Rocket loves the frigging stupid Motor Bike Helmets, thinks they are cool and functional. EVER got off your Motocross Bike and ran 150 meters in your Moto Helmet ???? You'd pick the thing off your head and Kick it that far away it wouldnt matter. Not to mention you cant HEAR in one of them. Common Sense one would think. Most of the map hasn't actually changed at all or very little, that Building that was across from the Supermarket, is still there, man most we know off by heart, in any Town ( Yes agreed we can enter most buildings a BIG Plus ) Most of Chenarus is Identical from the latest build Matt mentioned that Rocket added the Knock Down just that Day, which is the Build they are using on the Stand. I like it , and like the randomness it is going to have Machinima Interviewer comments twice at separate times unquote " because we rely on all the Dev blogs you guys do " WELL hello , what ones is he receiving ? Give me a dollar for everyone complaining there isnt enough, after the announcement there was going to be weekly Dev blogs Most Vehicles are burnt out . HUH and then they have loot in them. Watch any Zombie Movie . 90 % of Vehicles are intact, might not be operational but the whole landscape is not burnt out Vehicles. ONCE again this is more from the Mod ie Arma 2 where the environment is part of a War Zone. We are supposed to be particapaiting in a Zombie Apocalypse that just happened are we not ? If it happened years ago why are there loot laying around as it would have been all gone withing the first few months after the Apocalypse. Now Rocket tells the Machinima Interviewer, sorry dont know his name, Standard Arma 2/ DayZ Mod Vehicles COULD be in the SA release. WTF ???? ROCKET " Will Space Travel to Mars be able in the SA Release " , " Not in the Initial Release, but something we are looking at " What I am trying to highlight is how badly the whole process is actually handled. Is it much different to the Mod how things are done regarding communication, no not at all. The release of DEV Blogs and Videos, NOPE just as badly handled. They were decided they would be Weekly, well that didnt happen, no announcment but they got a Monthly, then when ever. Have been a Total of what 5 ? Yeah sure they arent a right, but dont announce what you arent going to do. Press releases and Interviews . NOPE all badly handled. Rocket has made a fantastic ( best MOD ) game I like to Play. Clearly in Rockets eyes he has decided Reddit and Twitter are his main forms of communication for the SA. Interesting that he did not show his Face on these Social Mediums when he missed HIS RELEASE DATE of the end of December 2012 for the SA. I'm Glad they didnt and like the direction they decided to take redoing the Engine etc, however he did not answer ONE person for over a Month. NOW many that know me knows I am a big Supporter of DAYZed , before you Guys with 40 Posts fresh from Warz come a typing, But I am having real trouble from what is being released and how it's released Motivating many from our group and its followers to take up the SA. The SA has so much potential but get it wrong and it quickly becomes a memory and I dont want that -

gameplay seen looks tab boring zombie knock downs = just remvoe them its stupd or make them extremely rare. no vehicles on release whoever did this have a word with your self majority wont care if tey are being updated they need vehicles to get round big map and running equals not fun and boring so just add old ones until you finish the newer versions. make it fun . fun is what sells games and what makes them good not stupid windows 8 style functions and minecraft style gui. every dev is trying to crecreate minecraft features stop ! it aint cool its been done to death . create your own things and make it simple and easy. -

rocket and matt if you watching i dont want a reply even just listen please get someone at e3 who plays dayz and knows whats going off and how to play and is fun. the video you showed of matt was boring and didnt spark any interest it actually put most people off even buying the standalone i spoken too . looks like basically you getting less than the free mod and vehicles wont b on release and the stupid knock down animation thats been added is just no . i love the game / the mod played it since you made it and love it and played alot more than the avg joe (everyday last year ) and if im honest it just doesnt look fun ! video games should be fun foremost. if it isnt fun people will play leave it then fo back to the mod. you may not mind this as you may of been paid i really dont know. please listen to people who have fun in the game and make it priority. so many devs are putting out half assed video games going for the must have this windows 8 box icon this or feel and forgetting the one basic thing fun ! so will be nice to see the next video at e3 but please try and stimulate me no im not gay but you get the drift :lol: . just remove the zombie take down it doesnt work in te mod or the standalone it is repetitive and who wants to spend there time doing press ups ingame up down up down. waits inevitable play better blah blah fanboy responses :P -

There obviously is a lot more work to be done on DayZ, but it is still an alpha, and it honestly looks as if Rocket and the team are stepping out of their safe-zones. To the people asking why there isn't any vehicles in the standalone, it's because they are revamping them for the later stages such as Beta and the release. -
After reading yet another rant about the rampant KOS mentality currently permeating the mod, I considered a question that I have been toying with for a while now. Let me first say that I believe that the main reason so many people kill on sight is just because they're bored as hell. Once you've played the game for a while dying doesn't really mean shit, especially if you're playing with you friends. Its just not a big deal. You're essentially perma-geared which is the only real motivating factor to this game since there aren't attributes, XP or levels. So if you don't need to scavenge and if the zombies provide little entertainment because of how easy they are to deal with, then what would be the next logical step to keeping yourself entertained? Killing other players. Derp. Why Consider this though. It seems like the standalone is going to be implementing something i've long been hoping for - decreased spawn rates for loot (especially the higher end items like military weapons) and vehicles. Therefor making it much harder/more time consuming to gear up and reach "end game" and once you have finally managed to get some decent gear you would probably be pretty damn cautious about losing it. IE you probably wouldn't try to snipe some random dude just for the fun of it because he (or the newly improved zombies) might kill you. Buuuuut, it also might make people MORE likely to kill someone who is nearby under the "better safe than sorry" mentality. What do you think? I really do believe that dramatically decreasing the spawn rates and therefor making this game more about scavenging/surviving the zombies (who I also believe should pose a much higher threat to players) would be a step....no, a leap in the right direction. You should have to gradually earn your gear, not just by running around but by genuinely fighting with the zombies too. Do that and you not only increase the realism/authenticity but you continually provide players with something to do (other than killing players). We all love this game, but sometimes there really isn't much else to do besides hunt people. FOR NOW!

Likes: 95% enterable buildings and counting. Clothing options. Female zombies. Crafting. Many more zombies. Zombies run indoors. Possibly more players on the server. Loot being spread out and harder to find Less high end military weapons (more civilian weaponry) More towns, buildings, structures, Utes added to Chernarus + Workable Radios Weapon attachments. Players can now jump. Introduction of disease Zombie life cycles Zombies spawned all the time (zombies around no longer means player around) The idea of scavenging car parts to build a vehicle Motorcycle helmets look awesome Dislikes: Vehicles might not be in on first alpha release (a minor dislike tbh) Zombies still need work So there is my opinion. I for one am very excited. Perhaps a few people need to step back and ask why did they like DayZ in the first place if a few alpha animations are causing you to vomit at the screen. EDIT: I am also moving this to the General Discussion thread. -

So I've been away for a long time now and I don't know much about how to make the game work no more. Does Dayz Commander still work? Is there any other better client? Are hackers still running amok? are there more than one helicopter per server in vanilla (and without hacked in)? any other new vehicles/boats/planes/helis/weapons in the past year? has anything changed in the hero/bandit system? do groups like the medics or coalition still operate? thanks.
