Hey, first want state that I played old ARMA2 DayZ Mod as first expierence to DayZ After waitin long while I finaly decided purchase the Standalone Alpha and its very glitched in significant ways and this is version .49 gettin updated into .50 very soon from what I read on featured updates/Youtube vids. Here are all problems I have encountered only 2nd day into playing Standalone Alpha Bugs - I Know DayZ is a very realistic hardcore game that makes players work hard find gear/weapons/supplys however its incredibly rare to find any firearm weapon in game now and if you are lucky enough find rifle theres 0 ammo for it completely useless - All military/police/firestations (THE ONLY PLACES WITH RIFLES) are looted every server find with more than 10 players. You should consider adding higher random % spawn chance of guns being in random houses/buildings all over map not just in concentrated areas. - Item Damage rates insanely HIGH!, using tools or getting shot destroys all inventory in only few moments its broken feature, Fireaxe breaks after 3 tree chopping actions, Shoot enemy 2 times all gear broken when try loot them, this damaged gear feature is not working properly and ruins gameplay you need remove it completely or drasticly scale down % rate damage on ALL ITEMS/WEAPONS - If have large enough backpack you should be able carry spare rifle in inventory - Pistols and Rifles wont load with 'R', you have go into inventory manualy load weapons with ammo mid-combat this is shitty feature - Always Freezing Cold all time even after have many clothes equiped, indoors, no rain Always Hungry ( Ate 4 cans food in row still starving only 15min into gameplay) , Starve & Freeze way too fast even with food and clothes not realistic - Zombies killed in doorway get trapped in room, they act like barricade and cant step over them with 'V' so your trapped have log out of game please remove collision - Zombies do not have any items on body after kill them (You should get can food or little ammo off killin zombies, some can have no loot but not 100% all time) - Zombies spawn inside walls/ceilings you can hear them but they are trapped in wall and they can still hit your character with invisible attacks have run out of building or get killed - Zombies spawn at large distance then lock onto character like homing beacon at any distance cant get away/hide you are forced to kill them (even spawning fresh on Coast with no gear) - Zombies knock unconcious, wont attack body, then when finaly regain concious they instantly knock you out then game gets stuck on blackscreen and wont confirm you die it freezes on knockout screen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My only 2 immediate requests are PUT VEHICLES INTO GAME SOON AS POSSIBLE! & Enable Global Chat so players can communicate with admin and eachother Every Server I have tried theres no Global Chat so cant communicate with admins or anybody really, have yell at strangers lucky enough come across on fuzzy soundin game-mic (Most players using Teamspeak or Steamchat for communication get around this so its not adding to the game's immersion having Global Chat disabled) this can make servers seem dead and inactive. The scale of Map is massive to move around without some form of transportation (ARMA2 DayZ atleast had simple vehicles to use on main roads), I know the .50 update will have 'Vehicle Parts' added however if your not adding in complete driveable car or truck or even a bicycle then these 'parts' are useless junk right? This game has great potential but is still lacking a stable gameplay platform, my only advice is focusing more on basics of game function and fixing bugs than adding in extra Misc. items, crafting recipes, small village details because none of this matters when you cant find working gun with 3 bullets or stay alive 5min without dying of starvation

    THE NEW ZOMBIE?

    THIS POST IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSION ON STAND-ALONE ZOMBIES (DO NOT SPAM IT WITH RANDOM TOPICS) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watched the latest Dev-blog demo, new graphics and inventory are lookin very good, but the zombies are basicly at 0% completion. There is still time to pitch ideas to create some dangerous zombies into the game. 1) Fixing the AI pathfinding: DayZ Arma2 zombies move like tweaked out monkeys, lose all motivation to run indoors, and end up fused into sides of buildings. Sometimes a more basic AI pattern can still be incredibly effective, zombies dont need cordination they just lock onto target and kill A => B , crawling or running. 2) Decapitation: Using certain high calibre weapons and grenades rip off limbs or explode heads, there needs be more damage patterns and physical loss of body meshes on zombies. 3) Increasing Zombie encounters random%generator: Making encounters actually dangerous by overwhelming players with massive gangs of zombies in random areas at random times, never encountered more than gang of 14 zombies max in city areas always predictable, I would like see some more epic encounters (50-80 zombies) forcing players to barricade buidling and fight or retreat from deadly odds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zombies as they are in Arma2 mod are not a threat, almost funny how bad they are at moving and killing you. The Stand-Alone release should have deadly, focused, swarming masses of flesh-eating infected cannibals making players piss themselves in terror at the coming wave of death to make the game a real challenge.

I have played DayZ Arma2 for about a month now and I have mixed feelings about the game, tried various servers with unique setups and scripts, bagged my share of kills, had some fun combat expierence, sniped lots of bambis and played long enough for a review of this game The whole concept of DayZ is amazing but there are endless problems/bugs with setup and gameplay and I wont list them all, just the most crucial physics bugs that need fixes for final release.(Viewed latest standalone demo videos) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basic Character Control/Movement The limitations of character movement in DayZ are uncreative and bugged. No Ability to Climb or Jump: Not talking about a mountain here ;) , only being able to climb over 3 foot rock or ontop of a crate or a vehicle or a roof of low building (expands on tactical advantages and escaping from zombies) Cant expect move parkour style through city but the complete lack of being able to jump over and climb small simple barriers is pathetic right? Jumping out of windows & Fall landing phsyics: There should be funtion to escape out of windows (same function should let zombies crawl into windows), if you are on ground level, trapped and need fast escape route why not smash window and jump out. Also the fall phsyics are bugged, once a 4 foot drop killed my character put him in coma haha, when drop any small distance it freezes your character controls for about 5-8 seconds (very buggy) Fast Stealthy Melee Attacks The biggest problem in DayZ is melee combat, there is no hotkey function to grab a crowbar or axe when you need it quick (have drop gun and cycle through broken inventory) there needs to be a quick equip funtion for melee weapons that wont interfere with primary weapon or pistol. Buildings/Walls/Doors/Stairs The physics of buildings in DayZ are just bugged and sometimes broken. Ghost Walls or Noclip Walls : Many buildings/walls/fences/rocks in game do nothing stop zombies from phasing through solid barrier and sometimes I have watched players exploit these same broken physics (for game that promotes realism this is serious problem) Broken Door Frames: constantly getting stuck in doorways even when moving directly in center away from edges Closing Doors - Locking Doors: Doors made out of wood should be destructable, serve as barriers for protection or to buy some time for an escape from zombies, If you can knock over trees, signs, gates, small walls with vehicles why not be able destroy door with axe or machine gun? Stairways: moving on stairs causes complete crawl in movement speed and turning, also same problem as doors end up stuck on corners Vehicles (Excluding boats and aircraft) The handling of cars/jeeps/trucks in game are not responsive in control both on main paved roads and offroad terrain, amazingly you can move much faster with a bicycle uphill, across an open field than using a 4Wheel Drive Military Jeep which does not add up. It seems all Vehicles on wheels share same physics control on terrain, there needs to be seperate classes of control physics when choosing types of Urban vehicles and Offroad vehicles. The Spawn Points and Item Spawn Points Starting out in this game always get stuck spawning up and down Eastern border coast and this just results in mass Spawn-Killing, since new players always spawn out in same spots (or next to Cherno or Elektro) veteran players abuse this on every server basicly as camping spots for a turkey shoot, new player spawnpoints should spread out more across Chernarus map not just along Coast. The Item/Weapon Spawn points have exact same problem as stated above, veteran players permanently camp only weapon spawn points that are Military or Advanced Gear, so new player can never get hands on better items and are are always slaughtered unless server setup gives you a rifle to start with. There needs to be more random % of chance in locations of weapons/gear so new players can gain items and vet players will not be able to completely abuse spawn point drops. I wont list anything for zombies since devs already mentioned they are overhauling zombie scripts and animations. Okay these are the biggest problems with DayZ game from my expierence playing, clash of good and bad elements making this game unique but very rough around edges (especialy with character control) The core game physics in DayZ need serious overhaul before the final release because the current problems/bugs kinda ruin your overall expierence. Okay have decency to WARN PEOPLE ABOUT THIRD PARTY SPYWARE AND CRAP SOFTWARE THAT AUTI-INSTALLS with DayZCommander not cool So after ripping out all the junk software I installed DayZCommander and when checked update menu it says DayZ is corrupt? Verified all files 100% 'using STEAM run game forgot to mention that.'
  5. I can load Day Z mainscreen and Menu Options but theres 1 massive problem...... There are NO Servers that I can play on!!!! :( - I have complete ARMA 2 pack with all expansion content - version 1.7.7.1 Day Z Beta - Installed ARMA2 OA PUBLIC BETA BUILD patch (ARMA2_OA_Build_106400) I see that my version is 1.62 Every server I view in menu says its version 1.62.####### (counted about 12 other versions???) and it wont allow me join in. It seems almost impossible get into a game and play, please help!

Hey I just watched the E3 Standalone demo and was already hooked Watching the zombie movements and reaction times I have guess you guys still fine tuning AI behaviour, also noticed zombies clipping into walls lol So from demo these are rabid Zombies who can run fast at you, also seem die from torso hits so they are technicaly infected biologicaly but still technicaly alive (28 days later style) and not classic, shambling undead (Dawn of Dead style). So here are some questions and ideas JUST ON ZOMBIES! 1) Can zombies form into large groups (20-30) or possibly into a Horde of 100s (Hide or Run you wont have enough bullets haha) 2) Are there going to be different types of Zombies? The Zombies in demo can run and long distance jump, a very recently infected type with lots of energy. Will there be slower zombies who have been infected longer time so they rotted away visibly and lost mobility? 3) Will the ability of zombies to track players once spotted end up endless pursuit for days or will zombies lose interest if you can find good hiding spot for short period time? 4) Decapitation Physics, I think Day Z really needs have realitic decapitation for zombies (you could apply this to players/humans). Swing Axe at zombie take off arm, Grenades could cut zombie in half (half zombie still crawling after you is scary), headshot up close with shotgun could explode skull, brains everywhere :) or hitting them with vehicles have real crash physics and not cartoon bounce. 5) You could still make the Zombies 'Undead' by making things little more hardcore with 'HeadShots Only' mode, destroying brain only true way stop a zombie ;)
