Hackers camp on server: NZ 03 (1.7.7.1/103718) Regular

Hey guys, just letting you know I have found a hackers camp "Tent city" full of tents and vehicles in the area I marked on the below map with a cross at the far north east of the map on NZ 03, at the bottom of the hill where the tree line ends. The hackers managed to teleport me in the sky and kill me. Hoping someone can do the right thing and go back there with some grenades ;) http://i.imgur.com/vQqXkPw.png -
already have a TS server, See link in my signature. trying to get a casual PvP oriented group up for vanilla/DayZero. That said were looking for the full dayZ experience with hoarding gear, Vehicles, etc. Not really into mods that strongly lean towards super-fast gear up, cap someone, and die a dozen times a day.

I respect Rocket's decision for keeping 3rd person even though I disagree with it. This is his game after all and it is up to him on who his target audience but nothing can keep me from trying out the Sa. Now, I noticed that Rocket actually stated that 3rd person are more popular and I'm just merely repeating what a lot has said already. If given democracy, people will always choose the easiest path, the one with the least resistance. That's why servers in the mod with absurd numbers of vehicles and starting weapons are always more populated than those without it. It doesn't even matter if those servers are both 1st and 3rd or 1st person only. This is just my opinion but am I the only one bothered when I see that the majority of the playerbase of a survival game choose to play it like a 3rd person shoot em up with zombies? In my opinion, 3rd person needs more drastic changes than what Rocket is currently suggesting. Because right now, the exploits and advantages you gain from using 3rd person far outweighs the "legitimate reasons" of using it. -
Hi, basically i've had this problem since i've started playing dayz, and it is best represented in pictures. http://gyazo.com/3a2011e6250b4ba273c4d967c9ef1211 Basically, as you can see, things at long distance (Such as the cable below the arrow) are kind of bitty, if you know what i mean, and very hard to see at distance, this counts for vehicles + players etc, so if i see something like that, i usually need to use binoculars/a scope, and this wastes time, and if i don't have bino's then i'm screwed basically. I know in other people's games they can see players from like miles away across towns and stuff, but i can't do this, and it affects my gameplay. These are my ingame settings at the moment, http://gyazo.com/88d0369db24e7c79c6d7f26c3ac84dcf I have 8gb Ram, Radeon 560 Non TI, intel pentium cpu g645 @2.9ghz dual core, 1tb HDD. They have HMMWVs wrecked everywhere (And one that spawns undamaged) simply because Arma doesn't come with a huge variety of wreck vehicles and they had to compensate for that. It's also possible that Chernarus imported HMMWVs and Hueys for their own use [Assuming that they aren't forced alongside Arma II's storyline] And there is an Mi-17 already, it spawns on Skalisty Island. -

I don't know about you, but I did an air pump when I saw the damage monitor for items. That will discourage kill on sight and may actually promote real banditry! You say "we" and then show yourself as a "serious DayZ player" but then you try to make the game easy? Come on. If you were a serious DayZ player you would know that the mod is chalk full of bugs and really isn't what DayZ can become. One thing amazing about the Standalone is the fact that it allows the developers to improve DayZ in ways that the mod could never do. Right now the mod is only alive because mods of the mod are keeping it alive along with new maps and stuff. Those PvP servers with 10000 vehicles keep the name alive but not the actual game. Theres not a lot the mod team can do to fix the current state of DayZ. The state of the mod is abysmal and I'm glad the SA is going on steady. It is obvious that the game still has a lot of errors but I mean it still looks more fun to play than the run and gun mod. Did you even see the size of Chernogorsk? While the standalone may be an ugly duckling right now, that duckling will turn into a swan, and that is a beautiful thing. *A manly tear was shed. So you want vehicles to respawn at the last place they were before the game crashes or glitches? I think.

These could both have TPV on but only one person (the defender/abusher) gets the free information on where the other player is. Anways...good to hear the devs working on trying different solutions to try to please the bottom line player base...the three main areas the TPV is most abusive is: *Prone *Hallways *Overwatch *Prone: Forced prone in TPV is a pretty good solution to stop the periscope-a-ton in the outdoors. *Hallways:...a Deadspace shoulder perspective would go a long way to fixing hallways. Perhaps in urban/town enviroments the TPV becomes locked in a shoulder perspective. *Overwatch: A concealed person can still have a massvie advantage during overwatch even if their peepers could not actually see over/through their concealment...this type of situation is the hardest to work on a fix. The distinction between running in the open where Rocket says he would like TPV and suddenly stopping in a good postion (such as on top of a hill behind rocks) and being able to recon an entire area free of consequence will be hard to tweak. No ideas for that. *Gear/UI checks: would also be a pretty good way to examine your character you gear and maybe for a status check. So long as to obvious imbalances are worked on a compromise is sensible. Prone: to first person or zoomed way in Crouch: zoomed in. If it's over the should they're going to need to add the ability to switch which shoulder the camera is on on the fly or one side will always have a blindspot and be absolutely useless. Standing: standard third (I'd prefer it to be zoomed in a bit. Something similar to double tapping + in third person but maybe a little further back) No double tapping - to zoom out further. Vehicles: always FP. Always. To deal with what most people will start doing, which is to stand in a corner or behind a tree to get total TP angle, when standing against an object the camera should zoom in further. Perhaps to the distance of crouch cam. This is tricky as you can get annoying and motion sickness inducing camera zooming if done wrong. Finding the best spot to trigger the zoom and picking the best speed of the zoom will be the trick. -
We now offer 2 Different clan symbols that will appear on almost all of the Vehicles. This is for members who have been through the recruitment faze. a The symbols consist of a white Demon Skull with RwD under it in Camo Green or a Ninja Zombie head with 2 katana swords with RwD under it.

I would realy like to see some unique vehicles like the Tumbler and some aircraft carriers. As far as I know, no one has put vehicles like the tumbler in dayz. -

Not really, you can only write on labels that can be put on objects like syringes or other things. You can't write on guns/vehicles. sadly.

Tons of 3rd person view servers doesn't mean it's the right way. There are tons of 300+ vehicles, auto refuel, starter kit etc. but that doesn't mean DayZ should be like that. So _Anubis_ please stop there are already enough of trolls like you in the thread. It's better to pretend that there never was 3rd person view in Arma. Let's now think how we can provide 3rd person view in the game so it isn't exploitable. /By the sound of couple Gamescom interview Rocket doesn't want to get rid off completely of 3rd person view. -

So let me get this straight. You are worried about SA because: 1) It has better graphics 2) Matt, a person you know nothing about doesn't appear to have logged as many hours as you 3) You don't want a SA you want a polished mod 4) Green/Red text annoys you but not green/red icons 5) Vehicles won't be in the initial alpha release (ok i'll give you this one as some people will be disappointed in this) 6) You have to realistically fill an empty mag with bullets rather than it magically filling up on its own 7) Zombies jump 8) You don't want blood types as it is too complicated These reasons look a bit silly don't they? -

It's pre alpha, game will be released in alpha its been in development for not eve two years with a small team. Most of what is happening now Is in the light of future additions. Eg so any things being completely reworked like vehicles, inventory, crafting. It isn't what you see, but what the devs can see in the foundations of a great game. Nobody said you have to buy it if it doesn't impress you, if you like the mod it will always still be going. But I tell you it isn't even alpha yet, have some patience man! -

The thing is, no third person player would be making this argument. I completely understand that people who want an 'real' perspective of the world, where they can not have information their character could not whilst in first person. The thing is, if you enjoy playing third person games it simply ins't your primary concern. No more so then if you use outside systems to converse with you team mates you will have information your character couldn't. I'd much rather people didn't use skype / teamspeak etc, because It would be great to hear other teams talking in game, I don't however think that it would make the game overall more enjoyable for a lot of people. The fact the guy in the second screen can see me doesn't bother me at all, its just part of the game. Various components of a game add up to hopefully something fun. Some systems add fun and detract in another way and this what making games is all about balancing the feel of the game you want to go for against the entertainment value you believe your delivering. Any argument that third person players have abilities inherit in a third person camera is merely pointing out the obvious. I don't believe anyone is suggesting 3rd person is more authentic; just lots of people seem to find it fun; that there's more to gaming that being 100% authentic. I appreciate that a poll has been made but I am reasonably suspect to if this forum constitutes an average set of 'Dayz' players. That said, looking at PlayWithSix I'm not sure I want to use the top servers as an example. Does anyone know of a FPS only, loads of guns, vehicles and all that jazz server? I suspect though both un-modded and modded have greater popularity in third person; even if this is not the case on the sample of forum users. -
I think it would be neat if there was a fire extinguisher in DayZ SA. Stats Type: tool Spawn Locations: hospitals, hangars, air traffic control towers, and fire stations Rarity: moderately rare Uses: Vehicles can catch on fire if sufficient damage is taken. The fire extinguisher would be used to extinguish the flames. If an engine is damaged in a helicopter, for example, a fire would break out. If the fire is not extinguished in time, the engine is destroyed and the vehicle becomes inoperable. What do you think?

Now the difficulty here when posting on the forums is that our communication cannot take on the intended inflection, body language and the myriad of minute idiosyncrasies that allow us to make our intention known other than through vocabulary, so I wish to make it perfectly clear that I respect the POV of team 1st person, I do, I get it. I also agree that the 3rd person view needs tweaking, I enjoy 3rd person and use it about a 3rd (of course) of the time I’m in the game, and I do agree that the ability to look around corners is, well, quite frankly bullshit. But with that said in FP there is no ability to extend your head above the grass when prone, lift yourself up to peer over a wall and getting stuck in a doorway or bush pretty much launches the player right out of “immersion” pretty damn quick! I also feel there’s a restricted field of view in FP…if there’s a way to correct this by all means let me know. Since this thread first began I’ve been trying to play in first as long as possible to well, walk in the other person’s shoes and as of this posting I still enjoy a blend of both view points and believe both perspective need work in order to make this game as address the above mentioned doorways, and bushes as well as some of it’s obvious flaws while in control of vehicles as well as when the player decides to run a marathon from coast to NWAF. Third person I believe is solved by lowering the camera to say 10 to 12 inches behind and just above the character’s head curing some of the FP limitations while removing the X-ray or sight bending abilities that are currently a PITA for PvP play. Just my opinion, not judging your opinions, after all they are just that, yours. You may proceed to pick my post apart…I’m fine with that as well. Oh, one more thing..Dsi1, to be clear, I do not believe I have ever used the “vanity” defense as a reason for keeping 3rd person, yet you’ve grouped me with that crowd. Pease note that I am fine with how I look and while vain in this world I do not care in DayZ Peace -

3rd person adds many advantages than 1st person and they're all pointed out in Dslyecxi's vid. Whether you want to believe it or not, seeing around corners and whatnot should not be part of 3rd person if they can do it. I'm not against 3rd person view but it needs a complete overhaul and if they can't fix the way it is in the Mod for the SA then it needs to be removed. The reasoning that some give that they want to see their character and how they look, well you can see that in the gear UI in the SA. People have gotten to used to the 3rd person view; and as creatures of habit; change doesn't go over too well with most. Regardless, the advantages of 3rd person need to be rectified. In saying that, first person needs some fixing too... Riding in some vehicles; the ATV for example; makes the view jump around so much that it can make you sick and is not very pleasant. -

I refuse to give you any more beans, but keep putting up the good fight. I think you're hitting the nail right on the fucking head here. Prior to the numerous mods that were released, vanilla DayZ was far more interesting and populated. The problem is that the game can't progress any further with mods. The features that simply must be implemented, the ones that need to work properly - they have to be designed and programmed at a source code level. I think it would be nice to see the dev team offer some kind of route to "official mod" status, for certain developers. It would be nice to see 3rd party content that could be screened and incorporated into the official game. Like Namalsk, for example. I really like that map, and I'd like to see it in the Standalone. Kind of how the mod team was implementing community made assets recently. I do like map - and even some gameplay - diversity, but I don't like that servers can just "give out" loot, vehicles, weapons, ect. It's a shortcut. Might as well just make a "custom server" on L4D that gives you infinite ammo and godmode. It would be fucking easy and boring - a.k.a not a game. You might as well play monopoly and just print off money for everyone so nobody loses. It's just ridiculous. So really I think the question here is how do we get a middle ground? How can we allow community made assets (which can be extremely refreshing and can extend the lifetime of a game) without sacrificing the gameplay that actually defines DayZ as it's own game. Basically, we need to be able to mod DayZ without breaking it's fundamental rules. -
