Words like tosh spread to mind when I read this but I'll try an respond in a reasonable manner. One Zombie knocks out in two hits? Laughably absurd, are all the infected professional boxers all of a sudden? That's a joke suggestion and certainly shouldn't be the norm as it just not logical it goes back to super zombies again. These are infected people from all walks of life some will be women yet people here are saying that they should be super fast, super strong, have super visions it's just absurd. Zombies should ONLY be dangerous in large numbers, hence as Old Fossil points out those that are careless and cause lots of noise will suffer the consequences. As for teaming up shoudln't that be the players choice? Your forcing gameplay on people, forcing them to co-operate, going lonewolf should be a viable option as any way people choose to play. In fact in theory it should be a lot easier to avoid zombies on your own. It's fine to have server options where the zombies are 'super' if that's what some people want but it certainly should not be the default setting.Different flavours for different people. Like I said if you want to fight against super hard AI zombies play left 4 dead or something on the max level, Yes the game is labelled as a survival game, but it's a game, it's meant to be fun and I would reckon for a lot of people scavenging around in the woods hunting isn't that fun, what's really fun is this massive open world you have where you don;t know what's round the next corner, where you have no real story or plan deciding your fate, where the unpredictability of other players going through the same experience can make each day different. That's something the AI zombies will never be able to achieve and it's why they shouldn't be a major focus in this game. Zombies are Day Z's environment, the background, the setting. PvP is what gives Day Z it's soul. As for the rest of it, I play on Vanilla public servers with very few vehicles and standard starting kit. The only As-50s I've seen have been hacked in. I've been playing pretty much every day for a couple of months now and I think I've killed two people, both of whom attacked me first. I've also had several conversations with other players and teamed up with them. My PvP experience has been very varied. I agree to an extent, at the moment they are maybe more in the nuisance bracker than the threat bracket. However I'm not keen on changes to their abilities until their randomness is sorted out. If I know the line, then I'm happy for zombies to be more powerful, if I know I need to sneak aroudn them, not fire within this distance etc. etc. that's fine they can do some more damage aggro longer etc. At the moment though I follow the rules and the Zombies break them, they will aggro across fields for no reason, they will go through doors, through wall, they'll hit from 10ft away. They are currently far too random and unpredictable, basically too glitched IMO for them to be stronger. Once they aren't as glitched I'll happily have them a bit more dangerous but they should always be a background threat, something that will threaten the careless, the loud, the brash etc.

I don't get all the complain about this game on the forum ?
Saethkept replied to iPewPewU's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well ... I agree that the limitation of weapons and vehicles and military materiel is somewhat unrealistic. Simple answer there is that Rocket and other DayZ devs did this to balance gameplay. But I get what you're saying, I see where you are coming from. Why can we have a silenced assault carbine and a couple of silenced SMGs but not a silenced PDW? Or why an armed chopper, but not an armed boat? Makes you want to pull out your hair. From a somewhat real world point of view - well in my realm of thought it would depend at what point in the apocalypse you arrived in "Chernarus" or whatever other hypothetical modern nation. At the outset retailers of weapons such as Wal Mart and Dick's and Cabela's, etc. would get mobbed by ... well a mob of terrified civilians seeking a firearm or three. Heck, when they call for an inch of snow around here, everyone buys up all the bread, eggs and milk. Police would still be in control to some extent, so you're not going to raid their armory, and even if they were suddenly gone, you'd need some power tools to get at the boomsticks. National Guard or Army Reserve armories? Try breaking into one of their vaults. Mid way through the crisis, let's say the regular Army has been deployed, are you gonna ask a grunt at some barricade to borrow his weapon? Again with the police armories - every dude in a many mile radius is going to have the same idea, and any place that contains firearms is going to be death match central. Further on into the "aftermath" - some time after the police and our armies have fallen, all of those posh burst fire and automatic weapons will have sat out in the elements for weeks, months, a year. Good luck getting them to function. Of course scavengers will have picked most of that hardware clean by then. Gearing up after a real world collapse of civilization would be more difficult than it seems. Myself, think I would head to the Beretta manufacturing plant south of here, but everyone would likely think of that. Just for fun, imagine trying to teach yourself to fly a Bell Jet Ranger, or a Blackhawk or even one of those Agusta helicopters they use for Life Flights. I think I would keep my feet planted on the ground, zombies or not. -
Yeah. There are a lot of spawn with _____ and there are 235235235 vehicles private hives, unfortunately.

DayZ Standalone, Freelook, Third Person
[email protected] replied to DontTrustPubs's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's OK folks. The next DayZ SA map will have no hills, no walls and no cover, taking away your need to cry about "exploits". On the subject of vehicles. It doesn't bother me either way. 3dp won't do much to help when you're driving. In fact, your vehicle gets in the way of what's in front of you. FPV is more comfortable. PiP rear-view mirrors will improve the whole experience. Not everyone has the same preferences. The one thing we have in common is everyone seems to have the same attitude towards others' preferences. -
DayZ Standalone, Freelook, Third Person
terrvik replied to DontTrustPubs's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have the perfect solution: let the infected see over walls and around corners as well on third person servers. There's really no argument against it. :) Anyways; what is everyone's opinion on perspective when driving vehicles? I can understand why some would like third person when running around but being locked to first person when driving makes sense, right? -

But you may need rmod installed to see a couple weapons!! Rmod is not necessary but it is required if you ever want to see or use these awesome guns! :murder: The IP for this server is : 67.228.177.32:3170 So the only problem we have is that we need you guys to join :( Please help us out by joining and have fun! see you there! ^_^ -
Hmmm well I looked into this a bit more. Apparently the DayZ soldier has "3" armor (hitpoints), "2" armorStructural, and "0.6" armor for his head. So... the head should have "1.8" armor (hitpoints)... and his body should have "3" armor. I believe if the "head" is killed, the player dies (much like how vehicles explode if the engine is destroyed). So... by the formula ((h/4.0235)^2)/(A*a), shooting someone in the face with a 1911 would do.... 0.86 damage to the head plus 0.26 overall... and a Makarov would do 0.55 damage plus 0.16 overall... a Lee-Enfield would do 4.15 damage plus 1.25 overall... Obviously the above seems to be incorrect somehow, Makarovs kill fine with headshots in ArmA... Anyways zombies have a head armor of "0.3", so that means a Makarov would (according to this) do 1.32 damage + 0.20 damage (instant death). Just musing here, I still don't understand damage properly. Also note DayZ itself seems to make headshots more damaging. So if a certain body shot took away 2000 blood... a headshot with the weapon would take away 3000? Large question mark...

Would love to have more people on the BMRF hive (especially server #2)
BongMcPuffin posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi there... I would like to invite everyone that wants to play Day-Z the way it was meant to be played, as in Day/Night cycles, First Person only, and fair distribution of vehicles without being overly generous make this server top-notch in my book. It plays on Chernarus, but its a slightly modified version with extra places to go and loot in the towns, and the loot distribution makes realistic sense to some degree. Its a whitelisted server, and its been relatively hacker free in the few weeks I've been playing there, I haven't seen or heard of any hackers or any complaints... and the admins are very active and weed out the dickbags and hackers and rule breakers pretty religiously. Personally I stick to BMRF #2 for the difficulty and the First Person only thing (because I feel it makes the playing field more fair). This is the best server I've played on yet, it feels like the true-spirit of what Day-Z was meant to be. Its difficult enough to keep the game interesting, without being too strict or too harsh to be fun. You can sign up here... http://bmrf.me/vbforums/register.php This server is difficult and interesting enough as it is... but it would only be MORE interesting if it had more people playing on it, and at more varied hours of the day/night! Features of the server that I've noticed so far: Active admins Low hacker population AI Helicopters that fly around and eventually crash to form crash-sites, which you can also shoot down to cause a crash-site. Extra buildings and areas to explore to the north and west and central area of the map. Awesome community of people that are both friendly and helpful, but ruthless and coldhearted at the same time (the Day-Z way!) -

Hello everyone! The server ip is: 192.31.185.214:3323 Server modifications 1.AI Patrol Functionality (from Sarge's post) player triggered AI (same concept as Dayz's zombie spawn, this prevents "unused" AI on the map) - 3 AI factions: AI survivors (shoot Zeds and player bandits) AI bandits (shoot Zeds and player bandits/player survivors) AI soldiers (shoot Zeds, AI bandits and player bandits) Dynamic "enemy" handling - only units near players will be made "unfriendly" towards Zeds / Bandits etc. Randomized gear/skins and group setups(leader/sniper/riflemen) Randomized patrol waypoints around the player preconfigurable sizes of groups, number of groups and probability of groups spawning close to player static AI configureable (e.g. put a group of bandits in Devils Castle, let 30 soldiers protect your camp, etc.) static Heli patrols predefined (Chernarus south coast, east coast, airfields). custom patrols configurable. automatic despawn if no players present anymore in the area killed AI bodies get deleted after a short amount of time (reduce server lag) 2.Auto refuel (refuel at any gas station) 3.Debug monitor (keep track of your bandit kills/murders + more) 4.Custom spawn table (certian items have a higher spawn chance) 5.Striping vehicles (take parts off vehicles with a toolbox) 6.Evac sirens/quarintine bombing (authinetic sirens from israel that lasts 60 secounds... then the bombing begins!) 7.Custom buildings + Hero/bandit bases (self explainatory) 8.Custom loading screen 9.Custom loadout (start with machette/map) 10.TSW Antihack Admins are friendly and will help anybody who needs it on the server, they will answer any questions that you have and they are also very fair. The Havok gaming server used to run 30-40 people daily so help us get back to that for our new server! From all the admins we say thank you for reading this Server topic -Rabidsquirrel -chicken065 -treeface -paris -Reaper -Retsam DayzMod.com post feedback below. - iBricks This server is the best DayZ server I have ever played on. One of the main reasons I say that is because of the friendliest admins/staff that I've ever seen. From the second I joined the server, I got welcomed by everyone on there. When you got a problem, they'll help. Heck, they'll even help noobies who don't know how to play the game. They also refund your stuff if you die because of the server (Ex: buggy plugin) (This doesn't happen anymore because they got things sorted out,). Also, if you have a question about this server, they'll answer it, like when I didn't understand why I was shaking and loosing blood. They pointed out I had an infection and I needed antibiotics. I asked where I could find some and they gave me some. Another reason I really enjoy this server is because of the great features of it. One great example of this is the max vehicle spawns. I enjoy this because its easy enough to find a car, but not to easy that there isn't a point to the game. Another thing I really enjoy is auto refueling. I mean going up to a gas tank, scroll wheeling, then refueling! Awesomeness if you ask me. My favorite feature of this server would probably have to be the ability to take apart cars and use there parts. You can walk up to a car, scroll wheel and take an engine/glass/anything else off of it and repair helis, other cars, boats and airplanes. Another I really enjoy but it was removed but its coming back was the ability to TOW cars. You can latch one car to another. You can also airlift things from one place to another. Oh yes, and I cant forget, they even have custom buildings around the map! These are some of my favorite features, but there are many more! My final reason for highly enjoying this server is because of the great and all knowing community. If you need a heli ride/car ride to anywhere on the map, their there for you. Got a player after you and have a friendly near by? They'll help you out. The community if great of here. Overall I give this server a 1000/10 . I HIGHLY suggest you play on this amazing sever, I don't think you can find a better one. If you see me on the server I'm Ben. Hope to see you there soon! P.S IM A FRIENDLY DONT SHOOT

Private servers prove that the average players don't know shit about gameplay
DontTrustPubs replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Admins abuse their powers far too frequently on private hives. They will inform their pals of approaching enemies, hidden tents and vehicles. Hopefully the SA will enforce a single rule set across all servers. -
Private servers prove that the average players don't know shit about gameplay
Saethkept replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can see where you're coming from. The tone of a private server depends on the owner/admin. Some do nothing at all to modify their servers. Others cater to the crowd of which you speak. Still others have gone the other way ... trying to make the experience more difficult. I've had a private server for four months. Before renting a server DayZ was a much different experience for me in that I really had no clue what happened behind the scenes so to speak, both in the game and server code and via different admin control panels. I can see someone with less control taking advantage of that newfound knowledge at the expense of their players. Of course, that is not too cool. Truth is, it is amazingly simple and cheap to rent a server - but quite difficult to both be a fair admin and to run a server properly. Some take it to the extreme; some use their servers as money making vehicles; some like to play little dictator or use their admin panel to mess with players. I think that right now the most important thing to remember is that public DayZ servers must remain true to the original vision and must operate within a set of enforced rules and standards. I would only begin to worry when that changes. To each their own I suppose. I certainly - as an avid player - would never "donate" to a server admin for perks that any experienced player can acquire for free from the game world. Some however must be willing to do this, as you see tons of servers that ask for donations. As for the starting gear and million vehicles, that is not for me - either as an admin or a player. -
Private servers prove that the average players don't know shit about gameplay
Zarniwoop replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really hope the Standalone will be difficult as f*ck!! No 35839^56 vehicles, no 42 choppers, no 7 barracks at balota/kamenka etc, hardly any military grade stuff, food and drink that is scarce, deseases that wipe out entire servers, something that gives your character meaning and not just your gear etc. An authentic survival experience. Something that stays true to the starting principles of DayZ which are what I started DayZ because of, back in May. Let me just quote R a moment: "I hear what everyone is saying, and yes - its cruel and unsporting when you get killed 10 seconds into the game. But that's what this is, it is brutal, it is cruel. This is not fair. Maybe you will hate this game. Maybe you already do. It is an unforgiving environment with no structure. It is up to you to decide what to do next. DayZ was designed to be impossibly cruel, dark, and brutal. It was not designed as a game it was more of an experiment, I prefer the term "anti-game" - in other words the mechanics are not designed to be balanced, or offer a way out for different situations. These are things game designers normally take care with.It is the kind of system/environment that will sometimes make you want to punch the computer screen. But with that kind of risk, comes great emotional reward when you carry something off. So here's the challenge - just take a moment and think about what you are asking me for, with alot of these requests. Balancing, structure, rules, protection. These are what the game industry has shoved in your face for the last twenty years." posted in April 2012. As you say there is no point to these servers IMHO but the majority of DayZ players seem to flock to them. It baffles me what new players starting DayZ now will think of the SA. At the moment I have to look under rocks to find a hacker-free server with a DayZ experience close to vanilla. They will most probably hate SA because it will be "too difficult and unforgiving". I dont know, I hope I am wrong. Anyway end rant :P Had to get that off me. So Dean, Matt and co please make this game challenging, dark, brutal, unforgiving etc. but at the same time rewarding and worthwhile like the mod still is sometimes. -
1. go for industrial spawns to pickup an axe (and maybe a windscreen or two) 2. depending on spawnpoint, plan a route north with general stores and deerstands as waypoints. Focus: map, hunting knife, matches, tents, possibly compass for the luxury not having to look up to the clouds.. (did i mention windscreens?) 3. depending on spawnpoint and resulting route, hit NWAF and Stary or NEAF and Bere (there might be rifles.. and windscreens) 4. usually one to two hours passed now since i spawned, and i'm decently geared. depending on my plans for the evening, either tour highvalue industrials for vehicle parts or hospitals for medical supplies or airfields and heli crash sites for highvalue military loot. en route check vehicle spawn points and typical hideout places, find vehicles to repair and then utilise them for further supply&logistics ops.. (you never know where you find a windscreen) 5. dump loot in a cache, resume scavenging.- you never have too many windscreens

DayZEVO No-KOS, Custom Mod, EU & Soon US, Whitelist!
dayzevo posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
DayZEVO is a community and server founded by Samuel, Papa Emertius II and Tazoo. We wished to create an opportunity for players to experience DayZ in the way it was played in its early days, the way it was supposed to be played. We still encourage and sometimes we even sponsor epic firefights between great clans, groups and individuals. A special version of the DayZ mod has been developed by our developers to make sure best possible game play is achieved at all times. We ensure the game is played in the more "player-encounter friendly" way by issuing special rules, such as no KOS. Read more about the rules at DayZEVO.com We will also host dynamic server events that stretches from everything between military level para-drops, to simple "hide & seek" missions As you most likely understand, DayZEVO is a young community, but it is build on a solid ground by highly experienced staff members. We will to everything we can to ensure the best of the players, the best of the community. The DayZEVO mod will evolve as the server progress grow, thus there is a lot more content and awesomeness to be added in the future! Current custom content of the DayZEVO mod: * Special weapon packs * Custom vehicles * Custom skins * And a lot more! What we are hoping to achieve is a fun and rich environment for everyone to enjoy without corruption and killing without reason. Hope to see all fun seeking players in the future. Come visit us! http://dayzevo.com Why not join our Teamspeak and have a chat with the community? ts.dayzevo.com -
Well at this point as others have said all of the servers are all "9001+ vehicles and custom loadouts" that include everything you could ever need, also custom buildings that make the small towns just as good for looting as cities used to be. For me with those custom buildings I can hit up a Kamenka grocery store find food, weapons, tools, and be on my way straight north. At this point I don't even need a compass or map because I know every inch of this map. Sad but true even when S.A. makes its release we won't feel that same old feeling because it will still be on the same map just a revised version of it. The good thing about stand-alone is a lot of the mechanics of gameplay have been changed and remade, so we will get some what of a new feeling when playing. But like all games if you play them enough you will know every possible outcome.

Also not the point. The point of the thread is to give tips and tricks on how to get better FPS in DayZ, not to say you get X amount of FPS, because you've you got this and that. Screenshots are also helpful, but you have to factor in amount of players on the server, as well as objects on the server. Most servers have custom buildings, extra vehicles, etc.. The more load on the server, the more it can affect your FPS. You find the longer the server goes without a restart, your FPS will start to drop very slightly. I max out at 60FPS across majority of servers (I only play U.K/EU servers), but I have V-Sync turned on which will cause it to stay on 60. Why do I have it on? Because the game looks horrible when your buddy infront of you has his legs 2 meters from the rest of his body. Screen tearing is the worst. I have everything set to High including Shadows, excluding Postprocess, and I think its AntiAlising? But I get 60FPS solid, which is great for recording, plus without screen tearing and shadows turned on, makes the game look very nice. Also a tip for recording, use Dxtory. You can play in 1080 @ 60, while recording in 720 @ 30. Brilliant piece of software.
