I steer clear of Epoch. The only mod I play outside of Vanilla is DayZero, and it's fairly tame with loot and vehicles. I can share that frustration sometimes, but you have to remember it's just a game. I was playing with some friends, when one of them drags on a friend of his. Annoying little prick NEVER stopped complaining. We found a Technical in DayZero, and attempted to take out a pedo van at Balota. He turns out to be a god awful gunner(PLAY ARMA PLEASE! YOU WILL BE MUCH BETTER! TRUST ME!), and the guys in the van jump out and snipe him off the truck. We were 15 meters away and he still couldn't hit it. And he blames me. He pretty much whined nonstop for the rest of the night, and broke his legs later on. We dropped him off at his Ural and asked for morphine, and we all told him we didn't have any. As soon as he leaves the TS, everyone admits to having two or more packs of morphine on them. -

I play on an Epoch server called "[1000+]TANKS! JETS! HELI's![custom vehicles] Epoch! and its IP address is 94.23.63.190:2302 I start out with a golden AK-47 I think it is, and a golden handgun. There's many vehicles in some places, just lying around on roads. When you start with a proper weapon it's so much easier and more enjoyable to play, than with a crowbar or whatever melee weapon. I had a double-barrel shotgun with very few rounds, and I wasn't prepared to die. I honestly can't imagine how the player could have survived the plane crash, but apparently he did. -

Great server and Rmod2 /2.1 is great. Adds a lot more guns and vehicles and aircraft, who doesn't love that. Vanilla dayz gets to be boring in comparison. Won't find me on non Rmod2 servers any more. O, also, just recently added modern cars and muscle cars! ;) Pic of some fun I was trying. I got it to fit but couldn't take off with it in there, doesn't stay put. -

Not sure how it is in Epoch, really, I've heard it's quite PvP oriented compared to vanilla, but solo-ing is easy, just takes a lot of patience. It's unnerving knowing no one is watching your back when you're poking around, but if you know the path less traveled, take it, and you will be fine 90% of the time. ________ My frustration stems from how "unfair" the game can be, or just how fair it truly is. I mostly aim to find and fix vehicles, I enjoy it, but then there are times when I spend hours gathering parts, having the worst luck finding something that is typically common, only to see someone drive off in the car as I return. Or worse, a helicopter is fixed, but just before refueling, disappears after restart. At this point it's just part of DayZ. -
I've been playing Epoch because of more cars and buildings. I cannot find a server that doesn't have every car locked or a trade zone. I just wanted a basic server with more buildings and fixable vehicles.No starting load out as well. Any ideas?

It's all down to what you want from the game. I prefer versions that follow the same formula and carry the spirit of the original game (Vanilla/DayZero) but some people just prefer to mindlessly shoot each other and drive vehicles around - something they could be doing in multiple other games that provide a better experience. There is also Epoch (which is very hit and miss) which provides base-building if you're a Minecraft fanboy - it tends to be full of crappy pay2win and bazillion vehicle servers which really defeats the purpose of the whole currency system since you find cars everywhere. Whatever floats your boat, really.

I'm a friendly player but I rarely play the mod, couldn't find any good hardcore server except for those with donator perks, 1k vehicles etc. I found the vanilla dayz boring, even after the updates, felt like endgame has really not much to offer for friendly players except for like giving someone a lift or searching for wounded players and bandage them/transfer blood ( which mostly is now useless due to most servers I've seen has self bloodbad addon ). I voted that I'm friendly, but as it is in the mod right now, for example, if I see someone running towards me with a hatchet, I'd consider him as a threat to me. If I consider someone as a threat to me, I'm trying to act in self defence; eliminate threat. So under certain circumstances I might KoS. I never cared about loot, so item degradation won't affect my gameplay that much. If it's kill-or-be-killed situation I'd not give a shit about gear I probably damaged. But what I believe IS going to change my gameplay, are the gestures. When I'll see someone weaving/surrendering I'd feel more safe and certainly won't do any hostile actions. Even if someone would trap me like that and steal all my precious beans, I guess I'd find it more entertaining than just a regular DayZ Mod KoS. You know, more things to talk about with friends, like 'Oh, and that guy was weaving at me, lured me and then 5 guys jumped out of bushes and killed me' rather than just 'I died'. I might also try another playstyles, but none of them would include KoS as it's not fun experience for me. As for the topic, in my opinion there are still going to be plenty of KoS bandits, and it can't be helped without penalizing it. But DayZ without KoS players wouldn't be so challenging, if there'd be only friendly players, everyone'd get bored quite fast because from what I've seen so far, DayZ SA zombies aren't really challenging. But those are only my 2 cents here. -

Update: Server is finally up and running. A few modifications have been done to get it working properly. have made the centralized trader (Stary) a little more protected from ramming vehicles killing people. Also zombies like to stay away while you try and trade items and gold. so far its just a Vanilla epoch server with some building modifications in place. still a PVE/PVP open server. choose your play :) If any squads/clans would like to join the server and make the switch I will make a starter package for you and the group. simple materials to get things going and your base setup! as for players wanting a good PVE/PVP epoch server I will do the same. Not as extensive as a squad package but it'll work. would really like for this to be a populated server. After awhile I can add a few admins to help run it all, but for now there is no need till things really get going. basic & advanced Skills with Books & User Manuels

I agree, books like this are a great idea. But if we're talking about skills, then we also need to address personal advancement (without literature or outside help) and also direct teaching from player to player and cooperation. For example, two players should be able to work on an engine together, which would cause the less skilled player to become quickly skilled at that specific skill set, and of course would advance the teacher's skills slightly as well, out of repetition. But you gotta know that most people on this forum hear the work "skill," "level," or anything that sounds like apparent character progression within the confines of the game, and they're going to get all pissy just because they don't want to be handicapped (see above). As if they know how to repair a fucking engine in real life. Face it people, not everything in this game can be based on "your own" personal knowledge. There has to be some sort of challenge for us to overcome, otherwise it's not a game - It's just a toy. As we've established many times on the forum, there is a difference between realism and authenticity. A "realistic" game would give us vehicles that had thousands of individual little parts that could break and dynamically effect the performance of a vehicle. You would have to literally lift the hood and look inside to find out what was wrong with it. You'd have to find the broken part and replace it or otherwise mend it. Well, unfortunately, that's simply not going to happen in this game - and that's the only way the game could be base solely on "your own knowledge." Every task would have to be so minute and difficult that you'd basically be playing surgeon simulator, moving around a pair of hands, trying to pick up a hammer to build a barricade. Certain tasks are simply too intricate to simulate in a game. This is why micro skills and character advancement are relevant features. Basically everyone thinks PvP is way out of hand. That aspect of the game certainly isn't "realistic." Sure, people kill each other - but in real life we are driven by more basic, immediate needs. Warmth. Rest. Companionship. There are physical and mental limitations we must abide by. Many people have never even shot a gun in their life. That is a skill that a person must develop over time and practice. If people could teach each other skills in the game, and actually use their individual skills to the benefit of a group, then we would see a lot more group activity in the game. Of course lone wolfs and bandit elements will always exist, but they won't have the same capabilities as a coordinated group, and the same goes for real life. So are skills "realistic?" Well, no. But they are authentic, meaning that it could be a believable mechanic, and that it has the effect of making the gameplay more realistic. -

The googles tell me this is probably BattleEye, so I will check things out from that angle tonight when I resume efforts on this. Any other light anyone else could shed in the meantime would be awesome. The only way I can get BattleEye to not print errors to the arma console is to launch the reality "restarter.exe" as administrator. I'm happy to do this as a matter of procedure. Anything else I should check for battleeye? I do have ports 29910 and 29911 UDP open and forwared appropriately, along with port 2302 TCP. My game is showing up in the public browser, which I take as a positive test that they're set correctly. -
All for auto walk key... in fact suggested it a while ago.. but not while tabbed. An auto-walk is needed for standalone, in arma not much need to run as you can just use vehicles at bases and stuff. However Dayz is going more for a RPG style, and if you look at other games in this genre most have it....im thinking Skyrim/Fallout3. It could be a lil immersion breaking, but isn't it the same as seeing an AFK player was just sat in a bush and even if you scream at him you will get no response. As other people said, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. But I for one do not wanna end up with RSI just to have a little more game immersion :P

Yes. I will KoS BECAUSE of the new item degradation system. I tend to stay on foot. Vehicles announce your presence. Since they added wounds which slow the player due to boot wear and tear, I'll be killing everyone I see for a fresh pair. Traveling on foot has plenty of disadvantages already. I'll be damned if I'm going to be slowed and hindered more just because I choose to travel on foot. And since I don't aim for the feet, I should be able to collect some boots from player kills. -

We made tweak to ai missions and included a wider variety of weapons gear and vehicles which can be sold. We also have gotten 10 or so new regulars. I hope we can get more. C130s also have a chance to crash on the server and spawn loot. -

no the problem is yellow smoke grenades are not part of available loots, however the public hive creates vehicles with this yellow smoke in their inventory. you are unbanned. -
Howdy, :beans: Welcome to my forum post. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this :thumbsup: . I have been playing DayZ for at least a year and a half and decided to venture into waters unknown :D . This is not my first DayZ server host but my second! The first one was Vanilla DayZ with about a constant of 15 guys daily. But for this server its going to be a little different. I was planning on doing a faction/clan only type of server. But i had some of my fellow comrades say that soloing is also fun :lol: . But either way here are some things you should know about me and my team! -Our team is compiled of about 3 of us(Trying to get more admins and such at the moment) -I am 18 and a Senior in sunny Florida :) -Active and usually on my TS(Will post below) -Fun and have alot of cool ideas such as events and such OK so what i had in mind would be to setup a application and hold meetings in my TS for clans to hop on and i see how many active members you have and so on.... ***I would also like feedback from the community if you all think it would be better for me to create rooms for the Clans to be in so if they have a question they can Poke me****. This is going to be a long-shot but i'm not going to have any stupid rules like you cant attack each others bases and stuff cause i like the guerrilla warfare that DayZ has. ONE THING I DO NOT STAND FOR ARE WHINERS. When you whine and complain to me about dieng or getting shot and loosing all your precious gear and gold, i will say, "Good Luck". I think variety is key. An overturned truck (lorry for British readers), with a chance to find a decent supply of food.A crashed car with a variety of low end gear.Crashed jeeps and vans from foreign military and news crews respectively. The military vehicles would have decent weapons in them, though picking them up would mean you would run out of ammo until you found another similar value site. The news vans could contain lore items and electronic components which would be useful for crafting, maybe even bateries or chargers to keep your NVGs going.I agree completely that crashed helicopters are iconic to DayZ and should make a come back. They should contain weapons with limited ammo of course, medical supplies as ever, they should be a lot rarer. Some people may remember reading my post where I (and others) suggested that sometimes the map, GPS etc have notes written on them directing you to such crash sites, so sometimes these crashes would be exciting hot spots. The thing I enjoy most about this discussion is all the potential. If done well the random nature would mean that you would never quite know what to expect when you log on. People have also been talking about Dean's idea for ultra rare items. I think this all adds up to DayZ being 'your story'. -

At least a constructive way to use useless items. OPs suggestion is a good way of turning perfectly good ammo into useless shit for KoS purposes. You don't need scrap electronics to repair a russian helicopter, they work withsteel cables and vakuum tubes for the on board computer to fly. Do military vehicles use basic off the shelf electronic parts...? -
Should be done off Reddit. Having a dedicated server admin can be awesome. He might keep a few vehicles spawned, de spawn broken ones. Really keeps servers alive. What they have done should be visible for other admins IMO, if people got a problem just stick it on Reddit. They can view player activity and maybe still have some fun in game by just playing other servers they aren't admins on. But they can still cross check another server for admins activity and really check to see if its clear of corruption. I hate nothing more than seeing hackers defended by admins and they mistreated looking for fun to be perma banned, never to have a voice again. Let the Reddit community be the jury and the Devs themselves be the judge.

All my players data is not saving to my Navicat database, I have Dayz Admin tools by bluephinox installed, Is there a way to make it so vehicles, items and character data save? Thankyou in advanced (P.s) If all you have to say is redo everything I have already tried Also, Is there a way to disable the anti TP I have added the DZE_teleport thing but it hasnt seemed to work, Its in my init.sqf
