The number one issue my friends talk about is how the game has turned into kill on sight.

Look, this argument keeps coming up over and over again. 1) The game is KOS because that's how people want to play it. That's why you have all the "600 vehicles! Custom bases! Spawn with a machinegun!" servers. They want to run and gun through cherno and not care if they get killed because they can just pick up more gear in 5 minutes. 2) Who told you the game is NOT KOS? From the moment I heard about this game, the one consistent message was "beware of other players and especially bandits". 3) Maybe you need to work on your people skills? I meet friendly (or at least not immediately hostile) players all the time. If you jump out at someone with a ghillie suit and a silenced M4 and don't say anything, they are going to shoot you. If you don't want to get KOS, you need to see the other guy first, and then try to communicate with him from a tactically advantageous position. If he doesn't respond or acts weird, then kill him. 4) As it stands, the game is more or less accidently designed for KOS. There isn't much to "do". Other than some pretty scenery, there isn't a lot to explore. Once you know the lay of the land, surviving is pretty easy. Living out in the far wilderness gets pretty boring. So what do people do? They run to Cherno and Electro to get their basic gear. Then they run to NWAF or Stary Sober or try to find a heli crash in the fields up there so they can grab military hardware. Then back down to the coast to kill people in Cherno and Electro. I think the standalone might fix some of the KOS problems. The way rocket described them - controlled on the server, attracted to sound, wont stop chasing you - it sounds like it will be a lot harder to just snipe at people or start a running gun battle without attracting every zombie in the area. -

Nope i added heaps of vehicles and items also about 10 players. got couple of friends to go around and we went and did ffa Friends were getting Good fps aswell just like i did -
hi, i'm looking for an EU vanilla dayz server with private hive. no added things like vehicles, buildings, etc. full moon, fuel refill and stuff like that is ok testet like 20 servers and only hard modded or no players so far. thx

So, since almost all my friends stopped playing DayZ, I'm looking for someone to team up with. I am REALLY good at scouting and finding things such as vehicles or nice spots to snipe, things like that. I also tried to be a sniper, but I think I am way better using automatic rifles or hatchets. Who would drive these vehicles? If you had a cruise ship would you really pick up random people off the shore of some third world country. DayZ is about authenticity. This is not authentic IMHO :| How would a ride from Chernarus to Japan (or anywhere for that matter) take 20min? :huh: The idea of making other areas available has been throw around a lot. This isn't the best way to do it, I feel. Sorry to rain on your parade :|

No worries, I know there is a lot of footage there and it can be difficult to pinpoint the abuse. I left with my crew of eight players after the Admin started spawning in tanks, jets, attack helicopters, and rocket launchers for himself. My friend U53R and I tried to explain that op vehicles and gear were a horrible idea because they could fall into the hands of the ordinary player, and of course they did. There were so many other abuse moments that occurred before I had recording software, such as two times where the admin used tanks to attack players rolling around in trucks which caused 20+ people to quit the server. The original owner is 16 years old I think, and it really shows in his behaviour and attitude towards the responsibilities as a server owner/admin. In fact the only people that continue to play that server are the ones he bribed with admin status to keep them around! -

We are a US based server with server hosting located in Missouri. This is a fairly new server but we are growing! We use HFB Servers for our hosting and everything has been running smoothly so far. We currently are running one server but are looking to start hosting another one on the same hive. We have a forum as well as a TeamSpeak set up for our players. Me and my clan have been playing on a origins server for the past few days, and its the most friendly and welcoming server ever! Of course its not all sunshine and rainbows, PVP is still supported! Bandits will be lurking around any corner...This server generally has 10-15 people on it and we are looking to maybe get more people in it, so come on in and give it a try, theyre are plenty of vehicles to find and actually 3 pretty large (4 or more members on each) clans constantly battling it out! I'm using Pwnoz0r's DayZ Private Server Pack, which apparently does not include any sort of script to delete vehicles that have been left outside the normal boundaries of the map. I had asked on OpenDayZ.net about this, but the thread isn't getting any attention, so I figured I'd ask here as well. Pwnoz0r's DayZ Private Server Pack uses a script in the MySQL (technically I think it calls itself InnoDB but everything seems to treat it as MySQL) database called pCleanup to perform certain cleanup functions on startup, and this script is called from pMain which handles spawning of vehicles. Vehicle locations are stored in a format that looks like this: [239,[4896.77,10135.8,0.081]] What I need to be able to do is modify the pCleanup to check the 'Worldspace' column for each vehicle in the database, determine if the vehicle is outside of the map (presumably by checking if the X or Y are negative), and then delete a vehicle where that returns true. I guess the basic syntax would be something like this: DELETE FROM object_data WHERE <vehicle is outside of map> Obviously I have no clue how to write the part where it determines if a vehicle is outside of the map, so if someone could give me a hand with that, then that would be awesome. ;)

it wasnt over powered, we had rmod going, but nothing extreme point being of my post is cause they bashed on us and we cant even reply. because of their crying the server got shot down, the server was intended for clan survival pvp. without excessive vehicles, also rmod was being used mainly for clan skins..... -

Warning! This post will LITERALLY be a wall of text. Reading it may or may not kill your eyes. :lol: With that out the way, here's the stuff: Character customization(s) Key-binded Weapon aim Weapons (including Improvised and melee + attachments and modifications) Clothing and accesories Vehicles Other stuff that wasn't mentioned above So let's get to it! 1. Character customization(s) YES, i know there are some other threads with these suggestions. My thought with Char customization is kind of like The Sims 3, exept without the bad sync and such. What i would like see in DayZ's char customization is more choises, like body mass and muscles, facial details and a personality that adds skill-ish possitive effects, and disadvantaging negative effects, making your character more like a real person. With this, the KOS people might have second thoughts about getting into a fight and also making it easier for Squads/clans to identify their squadmates. 2. Key-Binded Weapon aim YES, Rocket is thinking of adding this into SA, i only want to promote it here, though he mostly said all possible arguments during the small SA gameplay dev blog. The best thing i like with this idea is that it makes the game more realistic, due to that you can't always hold a gun in 90 degrees for a long time. a recommendation i want to do for this idea is that maybe make this key-bind toggleable in the controls options. also put a time delay so that when your character have held his/her weapon aimed for more than 10 seconds, he/she puts it back down in a non-aimed stance. That is IF the player haven't aimed down their sights for 5 seconds. 3. Weapons (including Improvised and melee + attachments and modifications) OK, so here's a wall of text: Melee weapons Fists, arms and legs Basic unarmed defence that does not make high or any bleeding damage, but have a small chance of dealing knockdown or bone breaking damage. Sharp/Cutting weapons Knives, machetes, axes and more, chance of decapitating or amputating zombies and players, and also a high risk of dealing bleeding damage. Blunt weapons Sledgehammers, wrenches and more, high chance of bone breaking and knockdown damage. Guns What can i say? the subtitle explains itself... Maybe add some modern day weapons and guns that may or may not be normal to find in Russia or wherever the map is located. Improvised weapons Branches, planks and other stuff found around the map, dealing Sharp and/or Blund damage. Attachments and modifications Flashlights, sights, stock mods, barrel mounts, undermounts, magazine mods and more. 4. Clothing and accesories Maybe add some modern day brands and customized clothes. 5. Vehicles Different kinds of pickups, SUVs, hatchbacks and automobiles, also boats, rafts, helicopters, planes, bikes and motorcycles. 6. Other stuff that wasn't mentioned above Maybe add: a use for the crowbar, such as to open locked or barricaded doors and windows. a siphoning system for Vehicles. big malls and apartment buildings to loot. More animals to hunt. a squad/clan system. There, done! ;) Feel free to add and discuss your, mine or/and others ideas to the list and hopefully Rocket and the dev team gets good ideas from our ideas!

I've got some questions... Can someone please explain me the deeper meaning of "alpha" ...does it mean we do not get a proper font for the inventory :o and no vehicles right from the start ? Why do they not use the Arma 3 engine. Will it still be Chernarus or a new map in the SA ??

Hi, I'm one of the main developers of downstream mod. You can check it decompiling dayz_code/config.cpp for example. You could see that all the weapons and descriptions are in Spanish. By the way, all the loot tables were done by me. Dunno if the map of breakingpoint was modified but, the custom map base also is mine, like Dichina's Castle, Krasnostav's new Airfield, Barracks in Stary Sobor, Guglovo + Zelenogorsk Hospitals...etc. Taser modification too. We've also added selective spawn (Earth-Air), basebuilding MOD, extra weapons, clothes can be taken from dead corpses, modification of DayZ vehicles (Offroad get 80km/h in openfield), etc. Regarding the new zombies, that awesome work was exclusively done by DeathlyRage. He added the wind effects and volumetric fog and the black GUI. Also added the r3f artillery and logistics, that we now have changed with another better mod. Correct me, but the rest of work was done by us. Server Files always were different. BreakingPoint uses reality DB. Downstream uses custom database synchronised with the web. You can manage in that web your inventory in real-time, can create clans and you will see all the tents, could create bases with gates and custom code, could have a custom and unique skin associated to that clan, can see the car spawnpoints.. I'll put an example of this Example images. Manage your Tents. You and your clan mates see the space, coordinates, last update (can see if has been stolen or not) Custom SpawnPoints. See every vehicle spawnpoint in the map, with his drop chance. There is an auto-script that spawns a new vehicle every restart depending on its dropchance. We have custom premium skins. If you have two or more, can the skin you want to spawn with. Kills are logged. You can see your recent deaths. You also can see your survivor. Where you are, your inventory, your tents, etc. We are wiping all our databases today. Will introduce the newest baseBuilding mod version, specially coded by w4rgo, with custom panels with key. That key won't be needed if a clan is registered on our web. It will be an automated process. I hope to clarify the situation. Its hard to see our map, custom loot table and the rest of work without being recognised. Regards.

I am a utilitarian sort. Lately I have had fun monitoring chat and other communications, responding sometimes to the needs of others - whether they ask for it or not. I like to fly people around. Buzz low over clan camps (sometimes strafing them with imprecise cannon fire). Run a taxi service. Run for parts other survivors need to fix up their various vehicles. Provide mysterious over watch. Run a few miles to give aid. Stock full a Ural with goodies and then park it in a busy area. I guess I enjoy unclaimed good deeds. Sometimes I get the hero skin and other times I loose it. It's due to a recent grim fascination with hunting down perpetrators of foolish and goofy behavior. But, everyone needs a hobby, right?
