there seems to be a problem with saving of backpack contents: putting a backpack with some gear in it into a vehicles gear works fine. if this backpack is removed from the vehicle later all the contents of the backpack are still in the backpack. but it looks like the contents of the backpack are not saved to the database when the backpack is put into a vehicle. if a server restart happens while the backpack (with gear in it) is in a vehicle, the backpack contents are not restored. thus, when the backpack is removed from the vehicle after the restart, the backpack is empty. opened also an issue on github ...

I've played Dayz since maybe late September of last year, so I have pretty much mastered all the basics as you would expect. I can drive/fly anything very well, I spend a lot of time practicing with cars, trucks, boats, bikes, choppers and planes in the armory (mostly choppers though, most fun IMO). As for shooting/fighting, I hardly fight anyone but usually win or at least survive. So I'm just an average well-rounded player, my strong point is piloting vehicles.

DayZ Standalone Suggestion about backpack and storage system

From what I have seen so far the idea of separate slots for each item of clothing seems really good but I think a feature that could increase gameplay experience is to have a total carry weight. This would make you choose what you carry more carefully and from that you could easily extend on it and add even more to the gameplay experience such as the more you carry the slower you walk/run and perhaps the more you carry also means you get thirsty and hungry quicker and overall more tired and warn out. This would add a lot more detail to the survival aspect of the game and this would also make you want to have camps or places to store your gear a lot more often and early on once you spawn. This also effects the combat experience because you would want to try to avoid any conflict with either zombies/infected or other players because if you are carrying a lot and are weighed down you might not want to get yourself into a fight because you are more slow and unfit for a fight. This would make owning vehicles a much better thing to have because 1 you can fill your vehicle with the heavier loot but also it means if you are carrying heavier gear the vehicle can still get you around quicker. This would make even a simple vehicle such as perhaps a peddle bike more needed and helpful because it means you can get around that little bit faster when carrying heavy gear. Also currently in the DayZ mod you carry vehicle parts in your gear, certain items are bigger so take up more slots which is good but I think vehicle parts and bigger items should only be carried around in your hands and not stored in your bag or on your person slowing you down and unfit for any combat unless you have a friend/s to cover you while you walk with the item. This would also help balance and make owning a vehicle perhaps more rare and interesting because it means you want to be a lot more careful with your vehicle because getting the parts you needs means either carrying the part from somewhere back to where you have left your car or it means risking driving your car into perhaps cities to have to load the different parts straight into the vehicle. This would just make owning a vehicle more special and rare but also keeps the game balanced between new spawns and long time survivors because long time survivors would most likely want to try and keep as many vehicles hidden away meaning new spawns have less chance to find a vehicle at all. This idea above of course means bringing vehicles back onto roads and cities with a chance of them being left there due to the owner getting in an ambush or just being killed by zombies. -
Edit I accidentally posted here, no grave digging intended. But this happens with all the vehicles. Best thing is to park it at least 250m out of town.

Hello there so i haven't seen any fix threads about this so i just thought id throw out the temp fix that im using on my server to fix the BackpackCargo Restriction #12 kick problem. Simply navigate yourself to the File Manager > \cfgdayz\BattlEye\addbackpackcargo.txt And change line 13 from 5 DZ_ to 1 DZ_ This will still log anyone who does this but wont kick them for it. This will actually allow people to put backpacks in tents and vehicles. Hope this helps! EDIT: Oh and obviously restart your server after the change has been made.

Any thoughts on rolling back to before 1.7.7 and give the Devs time to sort all this out. Seemed like it was alot less broken then. There were more players, the Zeds were like "Walking Dead" zombies (Not super smart but, deadly), loot was more available encouraging exploration of the whole map, vehicles were therebut had to be at least fixed, we all seemed to enjoy it. Now, Zeds phase through walls, have super hearing, long LOS, hit like a tank, no loot anymore, no vehicles anymore, and everyone is bitching. Just a thought.

I would say my pros are Spotting other players/tents/vehicles, I basically play the game constantly freelooking w/ alt and can now navigate pretty well while looking in the complete opposite direction :D. I'm also good at predicting player movements and getting inside their heads based on what I think they're doing/where they're headed after watching them. CQC in respect of reflex/twitch moments (which in arma isn't exactly a key thing, but I often am ADS'ing and one shotting players with a Lee/M14/FAL before I've even processed ''there's a dude there'') and driving. Aim is good, but i'm not too familiar with mil dots and guestimating ranges over 200m. also, I would say I either have fantastic situational awareness or I'm just incredibly lucky but 8/10 i'll spot another player before they spot me - running through a forest or creeping around Cherno - I put it down to luck. My cons are it takes me ages to land helis, like I mentioned before manually ranging/mil dots and my confidence/paranoia. like even if I know i'm in a place where I have the advantage I still want to move as I don't like other players knowing roughly where I am. Like if I kill one guy, and I'm behind good cover, I get to paranoid and have to book it. I see tons of other ''youtuber/streamer dudes'' and general good players just holding down one spot picking off 3/4 man squads whereas I'd probably have GTFO after the first couple shots. tactically i could use work, also I'm usually too paranoid to even contemplate looting stary/nwaf solo or drive a vehicle anywhere. unless it's the old bike :D I often get quite sloppy when I'm playing solo and find myself just wandering too close/basically along roads and booking it across open fields because I can be quite impatient if i'm not in a PVP situation. also I'm the most unlucky person for finding crashed heli sites, haven't seen one in like a week of playing but I have been on foot 95% of the time.and finally..duh duh duhh..i spend way to much time camp hunting around the west/north and hording gear. :(

I like to think myself as rather excellent. I know Chernarus off-by-heart, I am a skilled driver of all vehicles, especially the white off-road/hilux. I can pilot the UH-1H rather well [and I often take a few risks whilst piloting]. I am skilled with almost every DayZ weapon. Oh, of course, I am a nice tactician most of the time. I also love to kill a large amount of zombies. dat ego

There are 2 kinds of servers, private hive and main hive. Main hive servers are for your vanilla game. They are all connected together and will have the same loot tables, and the same spawning gear. When you log out of one server on the main hive, you can join another and you'll be in the same spot. Private hive servers are really just by themselves. You can have different new spawn gear, different loot tables, extra vehicles and additional buildings on the map. Log out on a private hive server and join a different one and they're not connected, so you'll be spawning again as a new character. When you ask if the guy stil has the bat and revolver on the other server, yes he still does, but he will only have access to it on that specific server because it was a private hive. Versions: 103718 / 1.7.7.1 (Both "Up to Date") The Short: I am interrupted when bandaging, either myself or another player (applies to Blood Bags as well). Also on a Private Server with Base Building I am interrupted when attempting to place structures, which seems to be the same issue. This happens on both official and unofficial servers, but not all of them. I can do just about everything else with no issues what-so-ever, and of course I am not moving during the bandage process. What happens? I open my inventory, right click the bandage, and left click or press Enter to begin Bandaging myself (or similar processes for the other things I cannot do). The bandage is then taken from my inventory and the animation begins then is immediately interrupted, then the bandage appears back into my inventory and my character stands up abruptly. Additional information: I can: Repair Vehicles, Drink, Eat, Use other Medication, Combine Ammunition, Create Fireplaces, Cook Meet, Gut Animals, Place Tanktraps and similar, Pickup items directly, and just about everything else that uses an animation. When using added things such as "Self-Blood" or "Base Building" on Private Servers where this issue persists, I receive a clear message stating that it was interrupted. While base building, it states that it was cancelled because I moved. I have completely reinstalled everything under 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead' , and am using Steam to install A2/A2OA, and DayZCommander/SixLauncher for DayZ (Though I have tried Steam as well). Along with many other attempts at launching DayZ with other options, but with no success. I have attempted using a different mouse and keyboard under the impression that perhaps they are doing something whacky to make the game think I am moving, I do not touch either one after clicking or pressing Enter to begin the process. There are no Errors when starting the game nor connecting to a server. However, within the 'error log' of sorts, this appears quite a lot both before and after the reinstallation: Error in expression <typeName; remExFP = 1; publicVariable "remExFP";> Error position: <; remExFP = 1; publicVariable "remExFP";> Error Invalid number in expression Thank you all very much for your assistance, I truly do appreciate it as it is very frustrating trying to play solo and not being able to simply bandage myself.

I agree, line of sight is the main issue. However, the additional problem is these new zombies have been given the vision of bloody eagles! They can see you from the next town. <_< Anyhoo, I say keep walls and bushes and trees and vehicles between you and the zombies. If it's dark and you're walking slowly then you can walk right passed them. If it's daylight and you blink too loudly the entire map's zeds will come running but as I say, learn to swap quickly from slow crouch to fast run and back again. I've changed my keys so they are closer to my arrow keys, which I use instead of the wasd keys. :thumbsup:

Hi. i'm not sure whr i should post this, but i will do it here. i'm disapointed with the latest updates...it's kinda silly how the new nerfed spawns are atm, you barely find stuff, especialy food and medical suplys, so it makes less interesting go to the north, to try find loot, and you usualy die when you try to go to this places, in servers that have 15+ ppl online, so the new loot makes it that you wont have resources are anything to try get there again to loot your stuff or try to get loot again, so why should i go top if i wont find anything ? Now everything takes more time to get, which makes it kinda boring. The new infection system is kinda lameish, i prefer the old braking bones, and i think the old braking bones and unconscious system was better, was at least more funny. :) the infection system also makes that ppl wont go to the north because, they will get infected while they trying to get loot, and since now the loot is so rare...they wont cure themselves and probly just die. i been playing this new patch, 1.7.7.1 since it was out, and i haven't find elektro hospital with loot rofl and i usualy just stay in elektro server hoping for loot and try get some kills, cuz back when i started, it was actualy good to stay in this places, cuz the geared players would come to the citys with good guns to loot the hospitals to get medical suplys and stuff, so it was good for the ppl that just had like an akm or aks with just some mags to actualy fight them for theyr loot, now i haven't seen any geared player in the south. Also i remember the antibiotics being very rare. 1 time was playing with some friends, and 1 got sick, and we couldn't find antibiotics, and we agreed to actualy kill him, cuz we read in the internet that ppl near the sick person would have a chance to get sick,we didn't know if this was true or not, but we did not want to take risks, it was a funny situation :D now you just get infected 24/7 and that takes out the surprise element of being sick and try to come up with a solution. Another thing is, those zombies suck, the zombies in this game REALLY sucks LOL should be trying to fix the zombies like making them not go between walls and shit, instead of trying to balance the game by removing guns or vehicles... oh 1 question why every server has a side-chat now? really sry about the post. it's so long,and not so good at english :) rofl but yeah i'm a dayz addicted, but i'm not realy liking the way dayz mod is going D:

There weren't any missing textures in any of the demos, nor did they say anything about missing textures. Missing animations is a different thing. However from what I understood vehicles will be in the game at release, they'll just be the same as the mod. Then they will revamp them later. The SA will be better than the mod in almost every way. It'll look better, run better, play better and be better. No offense to the mod devs, but when you basically write an engine specifically for a game it's going to work a lot better than the mod.

Personally, I would buy the game and install the mod. The Standalone will be a true alpha (because it's being worked on by a small, indie team) with textures missing, no vehicles, etc. The main thing that is being worked on is server-client architecture, which seems to be one of the only things that will be finished upon the arrival of the SA. I think that the first release will be missing a lot, and it's therefore a good idea to get the mod and Arma II -
They work quite well, depending on the vehicle they range from small to quite large. You even have a back up camera in some vehicles. All are using the new PiP technology.
