The two main changes I'd like to see asap are as follows, and they are more Quality of Life fixes than anything else. - Status Indicators - Respawning mechanics for basic items. Guns etc. shouldn't respawn, but basic commodities like food should. There's two possible fixes for the respawning. - Actually make food/drink respawn - Massively increase the length of time between requiring food/drink. Oh, and finally: - Selectable fire modes. Vehicles, Tents, Base Building. All of that can wait whilst the core basic features get nailed down. Amazing work though Rocket, well impressed. -

I think the issue people are struggling with is - why is the game play not improved from the mod after 18 months. And while that point is debatable - it is true that a lot of features are missing, things likes vehicles and weapons etc... What took up some much dev time was the transformation of the game from largely client side (hacking impossible to stop) to server side. This was a pretty big ordeal that involved ripping the engine down to it's core and re-enginneering a lot of how arma works. I actually think it's fairly amazing they were able to do that in such a short (relatively speaking) period of time. If they did it well (made the code modular in nature) then they should be able to rapidly (relatively speaking) tack on new features and troubleshoot bugs. Yea sure it would have been cool to have seen this early version of the game be substantially better than the mod, and you can argue that point all you want when the truth is you wont start seeing those types of gains for a while. Keep in mind a lot of people here and on reddit were BEGGING for this version of the game to be released, so I guess becareful what you wish for. -

Yeah I would not buy the game unless A. You want to save money, and B you want to help test. Don't expect to join a server, have no issues and build up a base/camp its not going to happen right now. As far as I can tell there are no vehicles at all yet. There are many broken items/ bugs at this point that would need to be fixed before I would even consider playing hardcore trying to actually find good gear to keep. The Knock out is bugged right now I just kill myself when it happens. I think the food/thirst is also bugged as 5 seconds after you spawn in it says your thirsty, if you drink 2 seconds later I told me I was thirsty after 2 cans of soda.... Not sure if they added factors like Only water will hydrate you ect. I did see a Saline bag so this might be a thing. This is not going to be Dayz Mod, its going to take some skill to play and solo play will be tough. It will take hours to gear up after a death and might make people think twice before trying to kill someone. -
When you're bleeding, drop your shirt on the ground scroll and rip to shreds. Then go to your invent and use those shreds to bandage. You won't find vehicles, they aren't implemented. I agree, I'm disappointed the gameplay is still clunky and quite frankly I'm not anticipating this to be temporary.

Well ideally Vehicles/Tents/Bases... ...Realistically: First: Fix Zombies running through walls (happening all the time to me) Then: Better status indicators for hunger/thirst and possibly visibility and sound (like the mod) at least until good in game audio/visual queues are developed. I actually like the text (It sort of encourages the RP for me) but preferably in ADDITION to the indicators. -
I do agree with you but 1000+ vehicles and spawn with dmr easymode can help people to increase theirs pvp skills And I like these servers, they keep most of kids/cheaters away from the good one's :)

i hope they consider what can be modded carefully, epoch and overwatch kept the mod alive, 1000+ vehicles and spawn with dmr easymode made the mod shite, and soaked up all the players until the mod turned into a generic clunkier battlefield.

Haven't bought standalone yet (waiting for it to get some more content and the most game breaking bugs worked out), but I don't see myself playing DayZ mod again. Non-vanilla versions have been nice as content additions (the feature additions have always been tacked on and half working, with few exceptions), but they're not the standalone killers some people trumpet them as. DayZ mod reached its limits a long time ago, and the standalone is just getting started. As far as Arma 3 DayZ goes... blech. I've wanted to love Arma 3 like Arma 2, bought it back in Alpha, but I can't. The gun mechanics and animations don't feel right, the only thing I really enjoy in Arma 3 is the vehicles because of the huge amount of care and detail they have. -
.Played TOH and totally agree. But I was never a fan of them in DayZ. Would always get a clan that just fly over the map collecting all the vehicles

Now that's a prick move... pretty elaborate though. Still, I don't come along well who kill vehicles (especially helis) without need. Vehicle KoS if you want. :P

You can have two land vehicles with mounted weapons. As for 50cals not sure just now It can happen we try to limit but it can slip though.

So i had this formidable idea. There is widely mixed opinions on "End Game", "Events", or "quests" or whatsoever. How about implementing all of these in the game, from the very beginning (*edit: of course not necessarily all of them)?! Imagine several objects somehow embedded into the game's landscape, useless or just "ornaments" at first glance but what if i say, in some way you can interact with them?! *Two very particular examples: *Metallic "thing" in the swamp: A player finds somehow hidden in a swamp under some shrubs a metallic something. He points with his cursor at it and it says "metallic something", huhh? What does that mean? He gets completely fascinated by it and the idea to somehow get this thing out of the mud, but somehow he can't move sh*t. So he thinks further, what if i was with more ppl to interact with this thing (idea: tie a rope to it and pull at it), but somehow this doesn't work either. What if i have something with more HP?... Long story short: It turns out, that you can get this thing out with 3! vehicles pulling with ropes. The thing is a super duper special tank* or anything you want to fit as a special reward* you know. Have fun with it! Quintessence (of example): In-advance-implemented "quests", unlockable due to player interaction(can)* provide huge social interaction (you need several guys)(can)* provide "End Game" (you need the proper equipment and amount of it; get anything you want to fit as a special reward* or a fixable super duper specialtank*)NO NPCs neededcan increase long term motivationmore awareness for environement, as everything could be a potential "quest - bringer/giver" another example - the well of fortune (*added from subsequent post) How about a well in the village XYZ. You approach the well and get anykind of hint, that you can possibly interact with it. In the nearby town you'll find leaflets for tourist information. Some cyrillic crazy sh*t's going on on the cover with a picture of that very well. The only thing you can clearly identify is also "104m" on that leaflet. (let us imagine, there is something like Pickup-trucks with a cable whinch attached to it in the game; or maybe it is even brought into game for such special purposes ;)) Now you are curious...after some time you really get that truck and try to go back to that well. Well that works perfectly out. Then....(some magic happens)...and you have the most unbelievable (insert here awesome or maybe even unique stuff) in front of you. WOW! I know there could be some problems like: What about respawning of that loot, should it ever?Will it get a major point of interest, after some time when word has spread, so it is no fun any more (respawning provided)?Will it attract griefers?These are some issues i have to admit, but i think they can be sorted out quite conveniently. *(added from subsequent post) Idea: Experimenting with things/objects etc. to eventually unlock other areas/equipment/content whatsoever. It would be up to the players to create a "quest" out of it. I know this all is very generally speaking, but that's why i made this thread. to share the main idea and get some feedback as well as good ideas/arguments ;) edit: well yeah i am aware there are tanks already in the game - just for illustrating purposes *edited to avoid, "well we have already tanks" answers... *edited because ppl like to speak far too much about tanks...and tank issues... *edited

Good news, Bad News... Bad News: Towing is now only possible if you buy or borrow a towing truck. See the Epoch Wiki for more information on the towing truck. Good News: We have a swanky new heli lift script, with lift radar and parachute drops for vehicles over a certain height. Helis of different sizes can lift different types of vehicles, so for example a Bell can lift anything up to a motorcycle, a Huey can lift anything up to a car and a Chenook can lift just about anything :) Dropping vehicles from a great height and watching them descend by parachute is awesome. Have fun, but don't take the piss. Oh , talking of which you can also drop vehicles on top of buildings now, apparently. There was comments about not being to lift it off again, but oh well.. You live and learn! -

NEWS: Our first event after updating to 1.0.3, The Manhunt, was a complete success and a ton of fun! The winner was [C-I] Chesty, he scored an L85 Thermal, MK17 RCO, EIGHT full briefcases, AND the grand prize, out of 6 available non spawning vehicles, picked an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier! DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.

Jbrick, I do not agree with everything you say, but I completely understand your point of view and you have every right to think that way.You are correct when stating the hype has come and gone, and vanilla is as empty as you could ever imagine it. Standalone is bringing more to the table to attempt to refresh the old feeling we had for dayz. The new features will play an impact in dayz. However to say I'm impressed with what I have seen would be a lie. I'm slightly disappointed with what I have seen so far. Sure you have unwashed seedless watermelons and Vitamin D+ for items. But lets look at the rest, look at the zombie animations, look at the stability. These should be addressed before you plunder 400 items into a game. In my honest opinion they shouldn't release that alpha until next year, until it's stable and playable to at least a certain extent. Jbrick if I were you I would wait before even contemplating the purchase of standalone, with the bugs and lack of vehicles and throwable items I'm sure you will be greatly disappointed with it and almost see it as a step backwards. Best thing to do is wait and see if it lives up to the expectations of everyone. As for me ill wait a week or so before buying it, my expectations lower with every piece of footage I see, if the Alpha is even half of what everyone expects it to be, it will still have surpassed the rather low mark I have personally set for the game. I really hope I'm wrong, and the whole community could just point me the finger and say "I told you so", I really do hope. -

This has been confirmed. From what I've heard (Rumors) they haven't even started modelling the vehicles yet.

The mod will also familiarize you with the game (Unless you've ever played Arma). Even with SA, I don't think it will be as populated as the original mod at first due to all the bugs. I also heard in the SA alpha they won't have vehicles at first for a while? I don't know if that's true or not.

DayZ Private Server Spawning Items

You need admin tools which are essentially hacks, your best bet is to go on other servers and look what admin tools they use. The only other way is to add weapons etc to your character via the database, and with a worldspace location/s you can spawn vehicles in, but this requires a restart everytime.
