DayZ Survivor Diaries: Jack Hunter's Story (final chapter added)
GlitchyV2 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A FEW THINGS Ok, there are a few things i want to say before you read this :3 I originally wrote the backstory as for my RP character in DayZRP, but i got blacklisted for not meeting the age requirement :( But, shit happens xD I got the idea to write a story when i was writing the backstory, as for some reason i enjoyed it... And i was also inspired by the story Past DayZ by dblxross (Great story, go check it out! http://tinyurl.com/PastDayZ If you want me to write more please comment as i WILL write if people want me to :) JACK'S BACKSTORY Born and raised in Finland, Jack is your usual nordic survivor. He is endurable, quite tough and a very good shot, he was one of the best snipers in the Finnish Army (land forces branch of the Finnish Defence Forces). Jack was born on the second day of September in 1990, and was name after his grandfather. He had a normal childhood, except that he learned English at a very young age for a Finn from TV, movies and videogames. When he started school at the age of seven, he was quite a lot ahead of other students as he was very good at maths and such. At the age of 16 when he finished his comprehensive school he started studying in a career school to be a police, and he finished his studies at the age of 18, but didn't yet start on the job, he had to go to the army first. In the army he did well, because he was in good shape, the rough training wasn't much of a challenge to him, so he decided to stay in the army for 2 more years as a non-commissioned officer. Once he returned to his ordinary every day life, he wanted a vacation of everything, so he decided to go on a travel across the globe. He went to Britain, America and various other countries and met new friends there. When the infection hit, he was hunting in Russia, on the island of Taviana with some friends of his. They had been hunting for 2 days and they were going to leave after sleeping over the night but somehow a few of the zombies found them and attacked their camp. Unaware about the zombie apocalypse, they had no idea what was going on, and well, that didn't turn out too well... Jack got away from the zombies but his friends were killed. He was extremely angry at himself for letting his friends die, but at the same time horrified about an zombie apocalypse... He tried to call home, but nobody would answer, and he decided to head home no matter what. But without any kind of a vehicle, he was trapped in a wasteland full of zombies and bandits, so he had to abandon any hopes of getting back home... After that he has been surviving in the wasteland for a long time, in the hopes of a new start... CHAPTER 1 - LOW ON SUPPLIES 1, 2, 3... 4 slugs, 1 loaded in the rifle, 3 in my pockets. 2 cans of food, 1 water bottle, 1 can of Coca Cola... I carefully count my ammo, supplies and equipment. "Damn it, i won't last long with these, i need to go out there and get some supplies..." I carefully take a look out of the windom in the barn, but i can't see anything as it is almost midnight. I haven't gone out in a while, not since my friends were killed... That day i ran for my life, i didn't help my friends, i was in a complete shock when i realised what i had done... I grabbed everything i found on the way, not caring about anything else than survival, MY survival! I squeeze my fist as hard as i can, i have to stop thinking about it, i have to let go! See, one thing i have learned about survival in this world gone to hell, the past is not a thing you should care about, otherwise you will become insane... Once i saw a few bandits outside of the barn, they executed one of their so called "comrades"... They just emptied their clips into the poor guy, luckily for me they ran away after that because of all the zombies that came because of the noise... I think i have been in this barn for 9 days now, and i have been trying to keep my thirst and hunger under control, but i have used my supplies up way too fast... I clear my mind and decide to get some sleep and go salvage everything from the town not too far away, i do not have a map so i cannot pinpoint my position, which makes moving around a lot harder... I have not seen any vehicles either, they are most likely in the custody of bandits... My eyes start to feel heavy, and i fall asleep... When i wake up the sun is already up high, i take a sip of water and eat what little is left of the can i opened yesterday morning... I grab my Winchester and my backpack, and slowly open the doors of the barn to check for any zombies. None of them are in sight, so i start moving fast in a crouched position and make my way to a small town. "1, 2, 3, 4, atleast 7 zombies roaming around, damn it, i'll have to be very quiet and sneaky..." I go prone and crawl my way to the nearest house that i can get into. I find a few empty cans of beans and soda, but nothing of use, so i move to the next house i can see... The door opens with ease, and no zombies are in sight so i get in, and walk slowly towards the kitchen, still crouched. I start opening the cabinets and i find a few cans of food and a bottle of water. "Thank you thank you thank you" I have no idea who i'm talking to, but i am so happy that i don't even care! I don't find anything else of use, so i start moving to the next house. I quickly come to a spot where the road splits into two directions, to the right, leading to a station of some kind and to the left, leading to more houses. I'm thinking of going to the station, but suddenly i hear a gunshot from the left. As an reaction i instantly drop to the ground, roll to a bush on the side of the road, and ready my rifle. All i can think about is survival, it could be anyone... [end of chapter 1] CHAPTER 2 - DANGER AHEAD I hold my position for a while, i don't move at all, concentrating on the road. I hear 3 more gunshots, then screams, sound of some one being killed... I get up after atleast five minutes of nothing else but the grunts and noises of the undead, and move to the other side of the road. I start slowly crawling towards the sounds, and once i see the situation, i regret my actions instantly. There was a man lying on the ground, dead, torn into pieces. I let this happen. For the next few minutes i think of what could have happened if i would have helped this guy, this poor, poor guy... I mentally slap myself as i promised not to think like this anymore, and concentrate on what is happening in front of me. Once the zombies finished their "business" with him, and had wandered off i slowly moved at the body. I know that in this wasteland you take what you can, so i dragged the body off the road and searched it. I felt disgusted at myself, but i took what little this guy had with him: a map of the island, a compass, a roadflare and some matches... For some reason the gun he had used wasn't anywhere to be found, but at the time i didn't think about it. I left the body and started moving at the houses that i yet had not searched. I went in the first one i could, and grabbed what i could find, the same with the other four houses too. I was already starting to get back to the barn, but then i remembered the station! There could be lots of stuff in there! I made my way back to the station's gate and tried to open it, but it would not budge! Climbing over it was not an option as it was too hard to climb and too high to get over, so i could not get in... I was flustrated by this, so i decided to get back to the barn, but what i saw was pretty much a surprise... The barn was on fire, with bandits around it! It seemed like they were looking for something around the barn, most likely because they didn't find it in the barn... Were those bandits i saw before some kind of traitors? Or were they looking for me? I didn't have too much time to think, because i saw some zombies coming out of the forest, heading towards the barn... I knew that things were going to go to hell very soon, so i went prone and hid in the tall grass. Not too long and i heard a few people yelling and the sound of cars driving away, i realize that i reacted just in time... I had no place to go, way too much stuff with me and bandits and zombies all around me! I had to find a safe place to stay, but first i had to stop, make a plan and check the bag i got... I hid in a bush on the edge of the town and opened the bag. I was surprised to find 3 bandages, some painkillers, morphine, 2 roadflares and a silenced M9 pistol! Unfortunately the was no ammo with the pistol, but i still took it with me... Next i took the map and looked at it. "Fuck! I can't read Russian!" But even if i could not read it, i still could find my location in the map if i knew the towns name, so i started looking around for a roadsign, and i soon found it... I was in a small town called Kryvoe, but the map didn't help with the plan as it didn't show much details... I had no choice but to start following the road until i find another hideout, and that is going to be one dangerous journey... [end of chapter 2] CHAPTER 3 - A SAFE PLACE TO BE After about three hours of walking on the side of the road i was getting tired. I had passed a few towns because they seemed to be dangerous, full of zombies but i hadn't seen any shacks or barns or any kind of safe places... I stopped for a while to take a sip of water but i was cut short when i heard a loud explosion from the field on the other side of the forest. I didn't react like i usually would as i started running deeper into the forest, away from the sound. Somebody was apparently having some fun with explosives as i heard atleast 3 more explosions, but they were more and more distant every time... My ears were still ringing from before while i was running, so i didn't pay too much attention on anything else than getting away. I tripped on a tree branch, but luckily the ground was soft and i didn't get hurt and kept going. When i was completely out of breath and my legs hurt from all that running, i collapsed to the ground. I had to stop for a while to catch my breath, but i was still worried that someone was after me, and when i looked behind me, i was relieved because nobody was in sight. I slowly got up and started looking around... I didn't see much anything, so i decided to get to a higher position as it would be much easier to find a hideout from there... After a little bit of searching i found a hill that provided me a good vantage point. I started carefully scanning my surroundings, and the first thing that caught my attention was a quite large farm in the west. I decided to go check the farm out as i could find supplies and maybe even find a safe place to live in for a while... It was not a long trip, about 850 meters, and i was already on the edge of the forest. I could easily see the farm from there, but i wasn't going to rush to it before i knew it was safe! I started going around the house to check for dangers, but the only thing i found was a small pick-up truck that was obviously broken... It looked safe, but the house was too easily visible in the open, so i would have to find another place to stay at... Then i noticed a small shed on the edge of the forest, pretty much hidden but still visible! That would be almost perfect for a hideout, so i got really pumped about it, and i ran to it to check its condition. It was a basic wooden shed with metal sheets all over it, and it was in good condition, it looked almost untouched! I opened the door and stepped in, it was small, but large enough to fit me, my stuff and the various tools inside of it, and it was pretty clean on the inside too! It was basically a wooden box with metal sheets on it, but it was a good, safe place to be! But before i could make any decision i would need to search the house, as it could be full of zombies or bandits! I stepped out and readied my rifle, thinking about the possible dangers inside got me on my toes... I slowly went in through the basement, and was surprised to find out that the basement was not completely looted and still had stored food and such in it! I took what i could with me, as i could really use food and water... I found 4 cans of beans, 3 bottles of water and a cardboard box with a blood pack and a package of painkillers in it, but everything else was useless. My backpack was almost full, but i was able to fit the supplies in it. I opened the door to the first floor, and what was waiting for me was a huge mess; broken windows, broken furniture... "Jesus, looks like someone really left in a hurry..." I looked out of the window, it was getting darker, i had to be a little faster... I didn't find anything of use in the first floor so i got up to the second floor, just to find an even bigger mess! I searched the floor quickly, and found nothing of interest... I got out of the house, and went to the truck. I opened the drivers door, but the truck was empty, but the radio had been taken out of its place, and it looked like someone would have tried to take it with them... I tried to pull it out but its wires were still attached, so i had to somehow get them out in one piece if i wanted to get the radio working... The radio also seemed to have a microphone, but it was attached to the radio... One of the wires went to the roof, to an antenna, and luckily it could be easily twisted out, one down, one to go! The other one had to be attached to the car's battery so i opened the hood and took the battery out along with the wire that was used to power the radio, i took the radio, its battery and the antenna in my arms, if i would get this to work i might be able to get off this damned island! The car's bed was covered with a large camouflage cover. I got an idea to take the cover and put it on the shed for extra safety. When i got back to my new hideout it was already very dark, so i took some strong branches and set the cover up as quickly as possible. I got in the shed and dropped my stuff on the floor. I was tired from all the running and decided to get a good sleep. Using my backpack as a pillow and my rifle next to me i take a good position on the floor. When i closed my eyes i fell asleep almost instantly, not even thinking what is ahead of me tomorrow... [end of chapter 3] CHAPTER 4 - FRIENDLIES!? I got up full of energy, almost eager to start scavenging and traveling. I had the feeling you have when the day is going to be a good one, so of course i was pumped! The first thing i did was counting my supplies. I hadn't shot with my rifle at all, so i still had the ammo i had before. I opened my backpack and took out all of the stuff in it; six cans of food, four full water bottles, a can of cola, some matches, a blood pack, some painkillers and morphine. Suddenly i felt how empty my stomach was. When you don't think about food you often don't even realize how hungry you are. I open a can of food and eat it in under a minute. Then i open the can of cola and slowly empty its contents. I sigh of relief when i feel my stomach settling down. "That hit the spot..." Then i remember the radio. I set it up as fast as i can in the hopes of finding help, people that could take me with them - not in a bodybag. I know that there are many groups of survivors out there, as i have seen them... I hook the radio onto the battery and turn it on, but surprise surprise, of course it doesn't work! I curse as loud as i can, and with my hopes crushed again i feel so pissed that i could tear someone apart. Three minutes ago i was going to happily go scavenging, but now i just feel bad. But i knew i had to go... I pack everything i have into my backpack, grab my rifle and get out, ready for anything. I step out of the shed and carefully look around me. I can't see nor hear any danger, so i walk out of the woods to the open. But that might have been a mistake. I heard a loud scream from the other side of the house. It was obviously a woman, so i rushed at the sound, my rifle readied. The next thing i heard was a gunshot. I took cover behind the truck next to the house, assuming that the shot was at me. "Ok now... Get up, aim, fire..." I got up and took aim at the direction of the shot. But what i saw made my jaw drop... Two people, a man and a woman were desperately trying to get away from a zombie with a orange coat. The zombie was covered with blood and full of bullets, but it was still moving. The man and woman were trying to get away, but the woman seemed to be injured, so they could not stand a chance. Bandits or not this is not how anyone should end up. I took aim at the zombies head and pulled the trigger. It was clearly a straight hit, and the zombie dropped on the ground. The man and woman stopped the moment they heard the shot and started looking around. Suddenly the zombie got back up, and started running at me. 'Think fast'... that is what i did, i flipped my gun over and hit the zombie in the face with the stock, knocking it out. Then i reloaded and shot it in the face... Twice. It was dead for sure this time. The man and woman didn't look like bandits, so i approached them slowly. The man had a pistol in his right hand. "Drop the gun" i said, in a commanding tone. "What?" the man asked. They were just standing there, staring at me. "Drop it" i said again. "No!" the man seemed afraid. "Are you bandits?" i ask, as this was a thing that i was worried about! ... The man didn't answer. "Are you!?" i asked, i was getting pretty pissed. I grasped my gun harder. "No, we're not!" the man was obviously afraid. "Good, then drop the gun." I was happy to find survivors like me, but nowadays you can't really treat any one like a friend... "Ok.. But don't hurt us..." "Don't worry, i'm not like that." i said, relieved about not having to use force. I walked towards them, with my rifle lowered onto my hip. "Are you hurt?" i asked. "I'm not, but Lucy has been shot..." i was kind of surprised to hear an english name. "Ok, so she is Lucy... What is your..." The man took his pistol and aimed at me, and i reacted by rolling to the right. A bullet went flying past my head, but didn't hit. The man took aim at me again, but this time i already had my rifle on his head. "Well, shit... Looks like we are stuck..." [end of chapter 4] CHAPTER 5 - TROUBLE "Well, let's see who breaks first..." i say, trying to be as intimitating as possible. "S.. Stop it!" The woman... or Lucy is trying to stand up and is yelling at us to stop. "Stop this now! You're just making it worse for all of us!" Lucy is desperately trying to make us stop. "Fuck!" the man curses, lowering his weapon. The man drops his pistol and walks to Lucy. "Good. Now who are you and what are you doing here?" i ask. For a moment there is just an awkward silence between us... "We're just looking for food and meds, don't kill us..." "I already said that i'm not like that... But why would you be here in the open? There are zombies and bandits around!" "We need meds for her, she was shot..." "By who?" i ask. "We found a camp after our car broke down. The people at the camp seemed friendly at first, but they tried to rob us when were sleeping. We somehow managed to fight them off, but Lucy was shot when we tried to run. I did grab this gun from one of the guys..." "So you ran from the camp and ended up here..." i feel bad for these people. "Yes, we desperately need help!" Lucy says. "I have some meds, let me look at that wound..." "Really? And you would help us!?" the man asks. "Of course! You two are the first friendly people i have seen in ages!" i reply. "Great! Thank you!" "Ok, now just lay on your back and let me look at that wound..." The gunshot wound had gone clean through, and even though it looked bad, it was just a minor wound. "I'm no doctor, but this isn't as bad as it looks... The bullet has gone clean through, so i think a little water, a bandage and some painkillers should have you up and going in no time!" I flash a friendly smile and proceed to take one of my water bottles out. "This might sting a little..." I pour some water onto the wound, and Lucy lets out a small yelp. Then i take the only bandage i have and wrap it around the wound. "That should do it, now just take this painkiller and you should feel a lot better!" I hand over a pill and the water bottle, and she happily takes the pill. I take my water bottle and put it in my backpack. The man helps Lucy up. "Thank you, i can stand up better now." Lucy says, thankfully. "No problem!" i say, feeling good about helping her. "What can we do to thank you?" The man asks. "Well i never got your name..." i say in an asking tone. "Oh, right, sorry for the earlier, you just can't trust anyone these days... My name is Matt! Nice to meet you!" "It's ok, i understand... But to be honest Matt, you scared me shitless!" "Hehe, well..." "Wait what is that sound?" Lucy asks. "Is that..?" "Oh shit, i think thats a car! To the forest, quick!" i command. We run to the forest as fast as possible, and the sound keeps getting louder and louder. "Get down, we don't want any bandits to find us!" "Are you sure they are bandits?" Matt asks. "Who else could it be? It must be a group of bandits, they are everywhere!" The car comes visible from the other side of the hill. It's a military jeep with 4 people in it with rifles and bulletproof vests. "What the... These don't look like bandits..." "Maybe they are part of a faction or something?" Matt asks. "I don't know, lets find out!" i say, with a strange urge. For some reason i want to find out who they are, maybe they have a camp or something that could help us survive! I hand Matt his pistol back, and tell him and Jane to run if something bad happens to me. "What the hell mate?" Matt asks. "I need to do this, they might be friendlies!" I don't know why i would even do this, but i get up and start walking towards the men, with my rifle lowered to my waist. As i walk towards them i get a little nervous. One of them notices me coming up the hill and yells somethig to his friends. They all take aim at me. "Woah! I'm friendly, don't shoot!" A guy with a strong Russian accent is the first to reply. "Don't move or you die!" "Ok ok! Just don't shoot ok?" i say, trying to calm the men down. "Who are you!?" the russian man asks. "I'm just someone who tries to survive, i'm not a bandit or anything!" The men talk for a while and then respond: "Ok, come up here, but no sudden moves!" "And keep that gun down!" one of them adds. I start walking up the hill slowly, my weapon on my waist. When i am about 10 meters away from them i stop and ask: "Who are you?" i ask. "You don't need to know that!" one of the men says, this time with a more german accent. "Ok... But why not?" Suddenly the fourth man yells at me: "Shut up and give us your stuff!" "No! I need these, and besides i'm friendly!" i say, shocked about the sudden hostility. "Then hand over your stuff!" "No!" "Fine! We will just rip them off of you!" The man takes a shot at me, but i barely manage to dodge it, and take cover behind their truck. "Shit! This is bad, i need to take these guys out!" I roll into the open from the truck's back, and shoot one of the men twice. Once in the leg and once in his right hand. He drops his gun and screams in pain, i sprint to him and lift him up as a meat shield. The guy isn't very heavy, but not light either. "This must be the dumbest idea ever!" i think to myself. I grab the guys AK and driven by adrenaline i drop the first two guys i see with clean headshots. The third guy is on the right side of the truck, so i move onto the front and aim at him. "You fucker! You killed my comrades!" "And you're next!" i yell, with a mad tone in my voice. We're aiming at each other, ready to fire. I have a shield, he does not. For a moment everything seems to stop. Then... BANG! [end of chapter 5] CHAPTER 6 -NEW HOPE, NEW PLAN The russian man drops to the ground, lifeless. We fired our weapons at the same time, but he didn't hit me. But my meat shield, the person i'm holding as protection, has gone limp, and is bleeding a lot. I let go of him, and he falls on his back. He coughs some blood out, and dies. Seems like he got in in his chest by the russian guy... "Unlucky, he didn't have to die.." i thought. I heard footsteps behind me, it was Jane and Matt. "Oh jesus!" Matt was clearly not aroused of the sight. "This is the way the world is now, deal with it or die..." i don't know why i said this, it could be because i was angry or something... "Who were they?" Lucy asked, obviously grossed too. "I'll check them for ID:s" i said. They all had the basic medical equipment, a bandage, some painkillers, antibiotics and morphine. I took them and stuffed all of it to my backpack. The russian guy had a drivers licence with him, and i picked it up to take a look. "This guy was 27 years old, russian and his name was Berto Kowalski. Classy." "No tags or anything? They were in soldier uniforms..." Matt asked. "Nope, could they be refugees or something? I mean... I think they could have been kicked out of a bandit group for stealing stuff..?" "I don't know, and i don't think we should even care, as they attacked you!" Matt said. "What's in the jeep?" Lucy asked out of the blue. "Hmm, there could be something useful..." I walk up to the back of the truck and look to the bed. As a big surprise, there was a crate of explosives, most likely enough to blow a town up! "Holy shit, come take a look at this!" i shout. Lucy and Matt rush to take a look. "Woah! Are you nuts? What if those things go boom?" Matt asks, clearly worried. "They won't!" i say. "Are you completely sure?" Lucy asks. "Yes, i have experience on explosives, these will only blow up when triggered using a remote detonator." "Oh, good! Then we should be safe right?" Matt asks. "I think so!" i say. "Wait... Does the car run?" i ask from myself. I leap to the front, open the door and get in. The car seems to be completely fine, so i try to start it. It takes a moment, but the car starts up and runs beautifully. "Well, where shall we go?" i ask. I flash a smile at Matt and Lucy. "I heard about some places from the guys that tried to rob us before, there are supposed to be communities out there!" Matt says. "I heard it too! They talked about some place called Haven..." Jane adds. "Hmm, first we should find out where we are..." It takes a while, but we are finally able to pinpoint our location on the map. "So, any ideas where these communities could be?" i ask, actually hoping for a location. "We drove past a city, it had gone to hell..." Jane said with a sad tone in her voice. "Let's get to a road before we choose anything!" Matt obviously just wanted to get out of there. "Ok, hop in!" i say, completely ready to go. "You are driving?" Matt asks. "You can drive if you want to." i told Matt. "No problem, i bet i'm a better driver than you anyways!" Matt says with a smirk on his face. I get out of the truck, give Matt the map and he gets to the drivers seat. Lucy hops onto the passenger seat and i sit onto the jeeps bed. Once we have been moving for a while i start thinking about a plan for the future. "I might need to use these explosives, so i'll take a look at them..." [end of chapter 6] CHAPTER 7 - CREPITUS: THE GRAND FINALE I open the crate and take a look inside. It is packed with C-4 charges. "These could be useful..." I close the crate and set it carefully to the left corner of the trucks bed. Then i lay on my back and close my eyes to think on a plan. "I need to think of everything..." Some time later i've thought of almost every possible situation. I considered it necessary to plan ahead because before things had gone bad really fast. "Uhh.. Jack?" "Yeah?" "Which do you want to hear first, the bad news or the really bad ones?" I am a little surprised about Matt's question as everything seemed to be going well. "What's wrong?" i ask. "Well, it's getting dark... It is going to be harder to drive without lights, and if the lights are on, we will be an easy target for anyone..." "Hmm... We need to act fast. What are the really bad news?" i ask. "Well, it kind of fixes the first problem... We are running out of gas." Matt said. "Oh shit, in that case we need to stop." "But where? We can't just stay on the road..." Lucy says. "Let's drive into the forest, we can get some cover for a camp there." i say, as i had planned for this to happen too. Matt pulls to the woods and drives deeper and deeper in. When we have driven for a good 15 minutes i tell Matt to stop. "We should be far from the road now, let's stop and setup a camp." Matt stops the car and he and Lucy get out. Meanwhile i open the C-4 crate and get one of the detonators. I get out of the car and check out the surroundings. "We should be safe here. Let's find some branches and stuff to make a campfire." i say. Once we have made a campfire i tell Lucy and Matt to get some rest. "What about you?" Lucy asks. "I'll be on guard." "Ok, be sure to wake us up if something happens." Matt says, already half asleep. Some time passes, and everything goes well until i hear something coming our way. "Engines, oh fuck!" The sounds keep getting louder and louder, so i wake Matt and Lucy. "There is someone coming, grab my backpack and run!" Matt and Lucy take the backpack and run deeper into the forest without saying anything. "I have a feeling this will not end well." The cars quickly stop right next to our camp, and two people get out. "Who are you?" i ask. "We are from the same group this truck of yours used to belong to, we are looking for two captives that escaped from us and shot one of our men." "So you are not looking for some one who killed four of your groups men?" "We don't know about anything like that, this truck was stolen from us." "We only want to know about the captives." the other man said "One of our men spotted you with them, you will either tell us where they went peacefully, or we can use force too." "I think i know who you are looking for, but they are long gone." i say with a smirk on my face. "Don't fuck with us!" the other guy kicks me in the jaw, damn that hurt. "We'll only say it one more time, we are looking for two captives that escaped from us and shot one of our men. You tell us where they went and you can live to see a new day." "Fuck... you.." The only thing they realized was that i put my right hand into my pocket. On the split second i pressed on the detonator i thought: Going out with a bang, never expected that to happen. Actually, rocket already said that this is how they want vehicles to work in the SA. It's a good idea, I'm just pointing out that this is already "in the pipeline" as it were. -

Active Admins - We'll always be happy to help you out no matter what it is, as long as it's regarding the server. Heli Lifts - We'll be happy to pick you up and drop you anywhere, as long as it's not to attack a base, we'll drop you off 500m away if that's the case! Auto Refuel - We have no managed to get the auto refuel script working! Just simply drive upto a petrol station, scroll with your mouse wheel and select refuel, simple as that! Debug Monitor - Our debug gives you information on kills, blood, humanity ect. Edited Map - The map has been edited so the towns are improved, loot has increased and even make it a lot more challenging! Camps/Bases - Throughout the map you will find camps and bases with a story behind them, it is your task to reveal the truth! Basic Loadout - We have made sure that we haven't made it too easy for you, our simple but strategic loadout gives you the original DayZ excitement! Thriving Community - Our friendly and active admins will be happy to talk to you, or just simply talk to the community...even the bandits are sometimes talkative! You may be wondering that there isn't any salvaging or self bloodpacks or anything like that? Well we believe that things like that take the teamwork out of DayZ, if you can self bloodpack, you might as well be a bandit! This is just a few of the things which we have to offer, please feel free to just drop by and play with us, we'll be happy to help you out in anyway possible! Just don't ask any of the admins for free loot or vehicles, it's not going to happen! But we can help you search for it! Check the photographs of the server, they are just a few things which we have done to the map! Thanks a lot and enjoy! I.P. 185.2.139.156 PORT: 3425

The War Zone replied to Unborn's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hi guys, If you are also looking for a server then give us a try! Lots of vehicles still available on the server and TONS of places for bases! The War Zone We have a dedicated TS3 Server also - 68.43.200.192:9987 -
Rocket has said that when they redo the vehicles players will be able to remove a door from one car to put it on another. i imagine this is pretty much what he means. though not sure whether you'll be limited to only getting parts from the same car type.

Some vehicles not showing up on Overwatch server
morgan32 posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello, recently I have been running an Overwatch server and it's owrking well, but I have one problem, some of the vehicles aren't spawning. For example the HMMWV_Avenger, or C130, or multiple jets, they all show up spawned in the database but they are not on the server (possibly invisible, but then I would be able to collide with them) Is this BE restriction of those vehicles, are they banned from DayZ, or what is the problem? And how can I fix it? -
Never. Doubt. Ducktape. NEVER. *Edit* You'd be surprised actually. The cars in Chenarus aren't the fiberglass and aluminum tin cans we drive now. While yeah pounding out a dent in a car that wrapped around a tree going 70 MPH won't 'fix it' you can still salvage parts from the car itself or do HEAVY repairs. And perhaps that'd be the point. Sure the Arma system deals with 'wrecked' cars by blowing them up, but lets say Rocket finds a way to merge the tech in this game with Standalone for vehicles. It would probably take a bit of work but the payout could be very rewarding. Lets say someone drives his car into a tree, for all intents and purposes destroying the front end and the engine (and a mechanic in game marks the vehicle as 'unrepairable' and marks it for despawn after 2 restarts and makes the vehicle respawn after a 3rd in its spawn location), and dies in the accident. Another player comes along and finds the wreck, grabs what he can from the dead driver's equipment and goes off. Another driver finds the remains of the car and strips off a part that's still in 'workable' condition (doors, tires, fuel tank, ect) and mounts it in a compatible vehicle. Comes back a day later and peels off every part he can that's not 'destroyed' then takes them to a garage/workshop/player base to do 'heavy' repairs.

"The North Expansion" and South?
Legoroxby replied to BloodyWarriorHD's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
First of all, chernarus ( or at the least not map accurate) is not real. the map you find in game is based on a place in the Czech Republic. I think expanding on the "semi fake" current chernarus would be an amazing idea! Definitely a Namalsk type zone up north, and a sothern Utes/Takistan zone accessible by air vehicles or perhaps a new kind of big boat/ship. As someone said some end game loot would be in the Northern Territory, with maybe more of a focus on vehicles like jets/helicopters/aircraft carrier?/and Hum-Vees down south. Maybe farther to the east could be a big ass island like Madagascar. This island could be an NPC outpost/base like in Origins mod. More endgame loot possibly??? (P.S bring the Gauss gun back in the desert map?!?). (P.P.S A but load of oil rigs please) -
Well that happens in riots so something really bad has happened when there are so many of those burned vehicles.

Looks like my binding idea wasn't so bad after all.... :) Gagging and Binding02 April 2013 - 09:55 AM Now I don't know if this idea has been brought up before, but I thought I might as well suggest it anyway. With the new crafting elements that will be present in the Standalone, I think that the ability to gag another player would be very useful. Firstly, the item to gag another player could be a rag. This rag could also be used for creating molotov cocktails. When a player is gagged, they are unable to use any in-game forms of communication, including text chat. They are able to remove the gag, if their hands are not tied. Now restraining a player by tying their hands with rope would also be another cool feature for the Standalone. If a player has their hands tied, they are unable to equip and use any weapons, use melee, climb ladders, or drive vehicles. To remove the rope, the player needs either someone else to remove it, or to find a sharp weapon such as an axe or hunting knife as a loot item. I feel that by including these elements will give players another reason NOT to shoot on sight. This would also add new ways to play the game, including taking hostages, using other players as bait (for other players and zombies) etc. I believe this could actually help reduce players shooting on sight. A main reason why players do so now, is because they either feel immediately threatened, or feel that they may be threatened in the near future. By adding in these elements, the gagged and bound player is much less of a threat. They can even become an asset. Opinions? -

ah ok! you never know when dean is all sarcastic and when not ;). ok but maybe after some time a more dynamic/smoother way could be achieved, to me these scenes felt odd. how about a dodging button, like something to jump at a side to dodge vehicles/bullets/any sort of impact... -

This looks great. Why is it that a good 40% of this community only cares about superficial animation crap? That's the kind of stuff you iron out in late development. They're still dealing with real issues which require a massive amount of programming, debugging, testing, implementing, ect. It takes time. I'm glad to see that you're figuring out ways of fixing desync. I trust that the server will be able to stream all that persistent information on-the-fly to the client with maximum fidelity. Have you tested the new streaming system with vehicles yet? Is it possible that inside a vehicle, your player's "update range" could automatically increase to accommodate for your increased speed? Hopefully that could mitigate issues like running into barriers/objects that suddenly *pop* into being right in front of your vehicle, which happens in the mod from time to time. Also, any chances we could maybe get some screens or a small video of some of that bleeding action? I get that it doesn't work in MP yet, but just a demo of the functionality itself might be nice to see. P.S. rocket, I actually like the zombie attacks. They don't look bad at all. I also like how the jumping attack opens up a small window for the zombie to miss you, if you dodge them just right. I think people who complain about it just want slow, easy zombies that they don't have to worry about so they can go around killing other players 90% of the time. -

lone wulf friendly player looking for company
phL (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
hi all, i am looking for someone who wants to team up with me. i am a mature guy playing DayZ for a year now and i like PvE servers. that does not exclude playerkills. for me there is just no point in pure PvP in DayZ but i like the thrill of other maybe hostile players around. it would be nice if our playstyles fit somehow. i like to play: -vanilla or "harder environment" e.g dayzero (no 500 vehicles, no extra barracks, no extra/changed loottables...) basically i want to experience "rocket's" concept of this game. -chernarus only (so far, i just didn't play any other maps and i like it that way but this may change at some point) -mostly on low populated private hive servers (like 5-10 players, no ghosting possible) -i am not very experienced in PvP, ok though at killing and loosing zeds i think -german or english language plz, EU servers preferred i can use any comunication program, or ingame chat. so if you think we should play together, leave a message here or add me on skype: carlosvandb i am looking forward to quick-loot the cities, explore the map and maybe find some camps, hide some ATVs, stashing Antibiotics, stalking ppl, find an arch-enemy and battle ;-) -
What ever. I'm making a pun to most video games with the whole never burning rag. Also another Idea for sabotaging vehicles in DayZ could be this...

What is wrong with today's Dayz players?
Statik (DayZ) replied to US333Nate's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've read posts like this too many times. It seems like all you're just hating on the bandit playstyle. I've been playing DayZ for over a year. When I first started, I started with a bandit mentality. If you crossed me, I shot you. I tried the medic scene, but it didn't work out, and I still carry that bandit mentality today. I like to think of it in the way that the people of this community paid for Arma 2, meaning they can play it however they please. If they're not hacking, exploiting, etc, etc, it is 100% within their rights to do as they please. If they want to shoot fresh spawns, so be it. Do I agree with it? No. But it's apart of the game. I enjoy DayZ the way it is today. I wouldn't enjoy it if everyone was just one big happy family running around the map. Don't take this the wrong way, but frankly, I feel you're half bitching and moaning about KoS, and half bitching an moaning about "12 year old", combat logging, and/or sidechat. If you don't like combat logging, find a good server/community. If you don't like sidechat, find a server with sidechat disabled. And since you clearly dislike 12 year old who lack "testicle fortitude" find a whitelisted server that has an age limit. I also don't understand your bitching vanilla, and how if you play something non-vanilla you should go be a little girl and play Pokemon and WoW. That is utter bullshit. Just because a server isn't vanilla, that doesn't mean it's "10,000,000 vehicles", etc, etc. Without mods like Namalsk, 2017, DayZero, etc, I would have been bored of DayZ a while ago. People are playing these mods because they are trying to keep that spark, trying to keep their interest peeked. I'm sure I've missed plenty, but it just seems your post is just you making the DayZ community look like one big fuckup. You're making it sound like whomever doesn't play 100% vanilla is a 12 year old KOSing, combat logger. People have differnent playstyles, opinions, and beliefs. The sooner you except they aren't going to be mirror images of yours, the better off you will be here. -
What the F#@k is wrong with the DayZ players today? I remember when I first started playing DayZ, at least a year ago. You remember when somebody would say "Anybody in Cherno?" and you could watch side chat, 5 minutes later, they would team up with somebody else who was marooned in Cherno by themselves and then they would head north and play some mother flippin' dayz. These days however, "Anybody in Cherno?" is usually followed by a death message.I understand that over time, players have developed the "don't trust anybody mentality", because of bandits and player killers. That i understand, but its the absolute cowardice and shameful behavior of today's players that is ruining the game. I recently rented a server, its still very low pop, I wont use this as an opportunity to do a plug, because I'm sure whomever shows up will be a real piece of crap and ruin my experience. I was playing today, just now, when i was inspired to create this rant. I broke my leg and was killed by zombies. I re spawned. No gear, just a "vest pouch" a can of beans and a bandage. There were only two other players on the server. I went on to looting. I found an M16, one mag, some food and even a big ass 12 slot backpack. I was owning it. I'm running down the east coast, in the tree line, and a player runs out in front of me, small world!?. it scared me! I myself have been corrupted, i popped off a few rounds. He evaded me in the pine trees. i followed in the direction he was headed for a little bit with no real hostile intentions, I immediately regretted shooting at him. I saw a zombie, shot it. he may have heard it. i figured i had lost him and I'm pretty sure he was a new spawn because i don't think i saw a gun. I decided to leave him alone. Then i caught a glimpse of him in the distance. What the heck?, I'll follow him and see what he does. I followed him into Solinichy, or whatever its called. Keeping my distance. I had to shoot another zombie, I'm sure he heard me shoot. Then i saw him again, he ran to the end of a dock and logged out. His buddy who was on also, then began trying to distract me telling me there was a chopper somewhere or whatever.. I didn't respond, I knew what he was trying to do. A minute later, the other one logged out too. These guys would play on this server for hours at a time. Nobody bothered them because there rarely was anybody on. Fixing vehicles, crashing them. Fixing a helo, crashing it, they were persistent little turds. But, because of that little interaction, they haven't been back. I laugh, because if they can't handle that, then what are they gonna do on another server with lots of players? ridiculous. Some 12 year old kid shoots at you, and misses, and then loses site of you, they are sure to be gone 30 seconds after for fear of a counter attack. So if somebody shoots at you, you d@mn well better kill them in less than 30 seconds. What if they hit you? and your about to die? They don't even have the guts to stay and finish the job most of the time. So your stuck with a broken leg 2000m from any potential source of morphine. and not a decent person in site to put you out of your misery. The human interaction aspect of the game is garbage now, because your not interacting with humans anymore. Your dealing with some young, dumb 12 year old, that doesn't know jack squat about being a man and doing the right thing or some DayZ veteran that has been torn, by the behavior of the average DayZ scumbags, that run rampant today. I don't usually mess with people on my server, unless they are trash talking or being complete dbags. I try to be nice and help people. If somebody needs a ride. i give it to them. I don't care if i notice that they are holding a DMR as they approach the car. i get killed a lot by the players on the server. I'm ok with that, I understand that if your getting shot at by everyone and lied to and tricked by bandits and trolls and abusive admin, when you come to a server without that, you still act the same way. i get it. but its just a game? Wouldn't you have more fun playing it with others the way it is supposed to be played? If you get scared and log out, then your playing it all wrong. Its not real life. Its a simulation. Act the way a decent human being would act in that situation. Of course i realize that most people today aren't decent human beings but... hey, what can ya do? What I'm trying to say is this, Play the game the way it was meant to be played. Screw all the stupid youtube videos with "hero bandits". its a shame that this is what it has come to. the whole point of the game is to survive as long as you can, to realize who you would be in a situation like that. "whats your story?". That's the caption for the game,"whats your story?", not "how much of a scum bag are you?". Those guys that make the videos don't last very long in game. i know that player versus player is an important aspect of the game, but its not the only one. I blame most of the admins for this. If the server doesn't have 10,000,000 vehicles or some bogus script mods to make it easier, they wont play, because its too hard. WELL SCREW THEM! Don't accommodate those little pricks. They are the reason that the game is the way it is now. Keep your severs vanilla. If your players don't like that then they should go play WOW or pokemon or whatever little girls play nowadays. if they cant spawn in with a gun and find a vehicle within the first 10 minutes to go to the NWAF and find a helo, they dont wanna play it, because they'll get shot and have to start over boo hoo:.( because its too hard that way. What do you think they would do if they had a helo with m240s on it. THEY WOULD PLAYER KILL! Do you see what i mean? That's everybody's goal now is to get geared up and kill players because that's what they've been taught, by guys like "Frankie"( i love to watch Frankie"s vids because of how he interacts with people, but these kids just see him killing other players and think that is how is supposed to be done, they wanna be "beast" like Frankie.). but if you do the same to them, they dont like it. I play on my server all the time, i don't cheat and spawn crazy stuff for me, because its not fun that way. I rented a server because i like to play DAYZ. I don't like to play on other servers where they are overrun with admin buddies and the cooperative aspect has been destroyed. Its frustrating to play now... maybe I'm not explaining it well enough. I am afraid of what is going to happen with this game. I love this game. I love Zombies, I love the human nature aspect of this game. But dear God, this cant be it. This cant be the way that people are. It didn't use to be like this. I pray everyday that the zombie apocalypse happens, but recently, my lack of faith in humanity, has changed my mind. If it did happen for real, we would all probably just get trolled for our beans by some 12 year old with a .50cal.. I wouldn't be surprised if the SA is a flop. I know everyone will get it when it comes out, but they will quickly realize that ultimately it is the same as the DayZ mod. A bunch of 12 year olds, without the testicular fortitude to behave like decent self respecting human beings. and they will ruin the SA just like they have the mod. Maybe I'm taking it too seriously? I don't know. Don't get me wrong though, I love to mess with people. One of my favorite things to do now (unfortunately) is to shoot "at" a player. Don't hit him, just shoot at him. Watch what he does. Shoot at them and then press the "P" key. You will not be surprised. if they don't log out, you will hear them whimper on side chat. That's pretty much what will happen. But every once in a while, they'll man up, and stay in, and stay alive. A glimmer of hope? I don't do this to all the players on my server, but every once in a while, I'll mess with a "regular". They may log out and never return. Or we will have a nice laugh about it and call a truce and play the game together, like its supposed to be played. I don't care either way. I'd rather have no players on my server then 50 Dbags. If there were no players on my server that would be the only way to get a real simulation of a zombie apocalypse, because there wouldn't be anybody. Just me. With my morals intact. Maybe I'm too opinionated? Yes i am. It is my strong opinion that the apocalypse will be a lonely place because very few people would have what it takes to survive, and if you were to meet somebody, you would have to kill them, because our society is rotten to the core. Back stabbing Cowards. I'm not totally sure of what this rant was supposed to be about, i just needed to get if off my chest. Because I care about this game, and i care about the future of this game. I've been playing video games since Atari, Yes, I'm old. I'm 26. I've seen everything. I've watched this younger generation grow up, right behind me, in a totally different world. I remember the toys i had when i was a kid in comparison to what kids grow up with nowadays... Lets just say when i was a kid, my buddies would have beat me up if i was being brought up like the generation after us. I remember if my dad caught me wearing "pads" or a helmet to ride my bike or skateboard, he would have laughed at me, my mom too. They wanted us to grow up tough. they wanted us to fall and get hurt. And we did. I've probably had more injuries in my first 12 years, than today's pansy ass 23 year olds in total. It was literally that quick of a change. I'm so glad that i was born when i was and not 3 years later. I did 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, EERRRRAAAHHH! I know a thing or two about "human nature" in a stressful environment. And the weak morals of today's society could never hack it in a situation like this, because you can't combat log in real life. Instead, you would die because your a coward and you would be petrified when the bullets start flying. I'm terribly sorry if you hated reading this, I'm sure you probably did, because statistically your just another DayZ Dbag. However, In the rare case you are not, and your moral fiber is mature enough for a game like this, PLEASE!!!,please, don't let them ruin you. don't let them destroy this game, just like they did the little plastic green and tan army men i had when i was a kid, i cant find them anymore, and if i do, they are crappy, made in china garbage that wouldnt be worth the "blackcat" that i would tape to them and send them to hell on, those tan scumbags!.. Whenever there is something good, it always gets ruined by these very people. And everybody else that gives a d@mn, doesn't have it in them to fight for it anymore. Just like this country is going down the toilet. I know somebody out there feels the same way as i do. there has to be!. there just has to be some decent people out there than can appreciate this game as i do.... i cant be the only one... ..."Anybody in Cherno?"
