    DayZ+ACE, Opinions?

    ACE and ACEX don't have that many weapons that would fit DayZ besides the variations on existing weapons. They do have an SKS and SPAS-12, which would be fun :) ACE only really modifies most of the pre-existing vehicles, or adds vehicles to factions that don't have ones. The few vehicles they have aren't for DayZ (The engineering vehicles, for instance) I'm absolutely for more customization items. I'm not sure exactly how they'd put all of those to use, but they would be nice. Claymores, landmines, and flash bangs would be cool as a rare item spawn, but phosphorous grenades, gas grenades and 'bouncing betties' don't really fit DayZ nor are common enough worldwide. Changes to the flight mechanics, towing, sniping and modified range-finders are cool. The fast-roping seems unnecessary for DayZ. There's no real point in having the pre-modified map, as the Devs can already add things like that if they wish to. ACE is a very cool mod, but just implementing it would create plenty of bugs or 'broken' gameplay. The two have completely different medical systems which wouldn't be compatible. The changes to AI could possibly break or damage zombie behavior. It's certainly a cool idea, but a lot of things wouldn't work or be necessary. As long as they, and their spawn rates are balanced, new weapons aren't a problem.

    HELP ME CHOOSE!

    So I spent hours trying to research things, and I can't decide. Here's the dilema, Spend 25$ (which is overpriced as hell) (but possibly worth it) for the opportunity to play this great game/mod that's truly one of a kind ORRR wait for the so called ''stand-alone'' thats still buggy, no vehicles, and pushed back in release. I mean it's already october... Some people are saying it's going to be months! You guys are the real deal community, you know whats going on! If im looking at a minimum of 90+ days of waiting im going to just bit the bullet. I tried to play that horrible rendition ISS because well it looked less buggy and better graphics, only to find out I ABSOLUTELY HATED IT. Anybody who thinks blowing real money takes it to the next level is merley an idiot. Now, Im not concerned with the fact I may be doing alot of ''nothing'' thats the idea of any sandbox type game, run around and make your story...that sounds great! I need to hear some good stories from heavy doubters that got converted. PLEASE LEND ME YOUR INPUT

    What does saving a vehicle do?

    It was actually re-added in 1.7.7 though. It gives players peace of mind but more importantly, it writes the vehicles location, condition and contents to the server sql.
  9. It's most definitely not a hack, and there is most definitely a setpos code for vehicles, and they occasionally appear in logs. It used to appear all the time in my server, and nothing weird EVER happened. Just because it doesn't log in your server that often, does not mean that it's a hack.

    Well, I can confirm that Tents dissapear, but the rest... the discon chains happen a lot, that is true. But my vehicles stay put and operational. Also I have not noticed any time issues.

    Bizarro Servers of DayZ

    I'm of mixed opinion on these. Some are really bad, some are okay. I like Vanilla, but there are times I want to do something else. This would be why I am currently running an Epoch server. I want to build a base but I don't want it to be player housing that you can't break into like Origins, I want it to be destructible given enough effort, but still want to be able to "secure" it. In other words I want the placement and planning to count. This isn't a horrible thing that pulls it too far away from DayZ. Yes, I can stockpile things and they can be locked away but really a Base Base becomes a target and a place for people to camp. It adds a different element to the whole game without pulling it too far afield. Well, and friggin cinderblocks are hard to loot with the Real Weight system in place. You put a bunch of effort into building a base, get a small bit of security from it and then need to work on maintaining it. Things like Breaking Point where they put more guns in and simply bumped up the zombies to try and compensate and then threw in a few buggy things like Bloodsuckers just don't capture DayZ very well. There was just too much loot and having to kill 20 zombies at a helicopter crash didn't mean a thing when you could find a couple vehicles with 50 cal machine guns on them or blaze away with a DMR based battle rifle and find an ammo box at nearly every crash site with 10 DMR mags in it. The Helo crashes were so common that you could spawn the zombies from one while looting another. Tons of loot at Devil's castle, extra barracks, NEAF more loot than NWAF on vanilla. It was just way to easy to gear up and that made it dull. There are mods that add to vanilla. Auto Refuel isn't a horrible thing and saves you minutes of tedium filling jerry cans and emptying them. Depending on the script it can take almost as long as using multiple jerry cans for most vehicles. My friend was trying out new servers and hopped on one all inocent. I joined him and while we were trying to meet up he found himself a MORTAR in a deerstand. I want to know who hunts with a mortar? :)
  15. It seems this problem with the public hive database server has come back again or the problem has taken on a new form. I have started receiving the "Hive Error: Unknown Internal Error" crashes again as well as a host of other issues. I have tried to contact R4Z0R about it, but his inbox is full again and I have also messaged Matt Lightfoot regarding this. My server is running on 1.8. The big problems are the tents are not saving the inventory you put in them and save. I have even experimented with moving items from one tent to another empty tent and after a server restart, the items are back in the previous tent and the other is empty again. Also, vehicles are not saving their positions. They continue to reset back to their spawn point regardless of whether you save the vehicle location or not. I have also been having a lot of desync chains lately (maybe the two are related) and the time on the server does not stay synced. (even with a empty/low pop server) It ends up drifting 2 or more hours behind the correct time by the time the server restarts every 4 hours. I applied the code fix to the server to correct the static time issue, but now it has this drift problem.     we didnt dupe anything. EDIT: but once you get used to it, 22-25fps is very playable. my computer hates epoch, plus the patches were shit, plus the server was extremely lagging im sure that had nothing to do with ever other base, the 1500+ vehicles, the shitty patches, and 40+ pop? :P
  17. It's a hack. Setpos event occurs when the gameclient did a setpos for a vehicle (in your case). Is there a setpos (or setposATL, or setposASL) in dayzmod code for vehicles? I don't think so. Players are kicked for setpos on objects, except zombies. I have been told there could be a setpos when changing skin (I have to check that too), but not for vehicles. I checked my logs on one of my servers, I had 3 setpos for vehicles in last 30 days, so it's definitely not something you find regularly. Your player has been kicked, and setpos has been blocked before it reached the gameserver. About banning or not, it's up to you. I think you should tag your player a suspicious and find other clues before ban (ESP and infinite ammo do much more harm than a setpos attempt)

  19. Hello DayZ Community, I have some questions and hope that you can help me. Im looking forward to set up a new server, location would be Europe/Germany. Now there are MANY different server providers and I'm not sure which one I should choose. I will just post my Ideas of the server settings I would like to have and hope that someone of you is able to tell me which hoster I should choose. So, since im living in Germany the Server should be hosted in Europe, best is of course Germany. The Mod I'm looking forward to use is DayZ Epoch with settings like: Sergeant AI (Bandit, Hero, Soldiers) Towable Vehicles Basebuilding Self-Bloodback Auto Refuel More Vehicles (around 100) I would like to use the Map Chernarus, but not the original Chernarus, I would use a map from another Mapper which includes more buildings, this is really important for us, so we need a provider who gives this option. Another question is, is it possible to change the loottable, adding more weapons (sth. like the Breaking Point weapons like the Galil or G3). Not so important but that would be a real nice to have. I hope someone is able to tell me a nice provider which is capable of fullfilling these wishes. So we made this server because we were fed up with admins abusing the powers they have on other servers, which is why there are only 2 admins who play in game and who i trust alot, if they abuse their powers they will have them removed straight away. No base destroying, yes you can loot the base and destroy vehicles but leave the building in tact! build a ladder to get in ;), no hacking/cheating...we have a great script scanner, no whining... we know its annoying if your stuff gets taken or if you get killed but that's the game :), no trader camping! ok so you can stroll into a trader camp and see someone and shoot someone thats fine, camping is waiting there on a hill or in a tree waiting for someone, we can check and first it will be a warning, then a kick and so on till we're fed up with it. So guys and girls come join us we have a great community and everyone is welcome to join our teamspeak.
  22. Who Are We? The Dry River Devils is a group of gamers who met in another clan and became friends. Due to a disagreement with the other clans leader we decided to strike out on our own and form a clan based on respect, having fun, and using real world tactics within DayZ. The Dry River Devils is conceptualized as a Private Contracting Company specializing in guarding high value assets (or destroying them) and zombie eradication (since the apocalypse) We are currently organized as a Reinforced Armored Rifle Company (in DayZ EPOCH) and as a infantry unit specializing in hostage rescue and wet work (in DayZRP). How Do We Play On DayZ Epoch? The Dry River Devil's is the original clan on a heavily modified DayZ EPOCH server that has recently aligned with the Survival Ops community (the Dry River Devils is not a member clan of Survival Ops). On the server we role play as ex military members who were working a contract with the local government when the zombie apocalypse began. We operate as a Reinforced Armored Rifle Company assisting the UN with stabilizing the region (as well as continuing private contracting on the side). We use real work armor tactics utilizing various armor, air, and water assets including (but not limited to): - T-34 and T-55 main tanks - BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles - BTR-60, BDRM-2 and BTR-40 scout vehicles -Other various military ground vehicles - Black Hawk, Viper, UH1H Huey, Little Birds, and other air assets - RHIB's and other water assets. We conduct operations on the EPOCH server like: - Armored convoys - Base Assaults - Search & Destroy - Reconnaissance - Amphibious Assaults - Hostage Rescue - Refugee Escort - Capture City's and towns - Wet Work - Airborne Assaults - and various others How Do We Play On DayZRP? We operate under the same back story as DayZ EPOCH while acknowledging the differences between servers. We are organized as a infantry unit specializing in hostage rescue and wet work. How Is Our Clan Structured? Due to some bad experiences our founding members have had in various clans that are run by a single individual the Dry River Devils are organized like a corporation with non-voting members having the ability to obtain ranks and voting members overseeing the daily administration of the clan. Voting members (Board of Directors) are the original 7 founders who vote in a Chairman to be the spokesman and head of the clan. The Board of Directors may also vote in new board members as the clan grows or vote out board members or even the Chairman in a vote of no confidence. The Board of Directors also handles mitigation between members. Our non-voting ranks reflect individual players progression within the clan based on abilities within the game(s) they play with us.     Dayz YouTube story idea

    I'm in, I'll be on skype this weekend, Here is the shot out of a cannon: dayz epoch. More vehicles with keys, traderzones make getting materials for the show easier, bases to show raids and scouting between bandits and survivor bases and to display proggession of the groups powers. Find an empty dayz epoch server, post on their forums, use their TS3 and chat with an admin. Use their server with their permission as they can spawn things if they are given the right admin powers.
  24. It isn't. @OP, it's a normal log that (I'm pretty sure) occasionally logs the locations of vehicles on the map. Usually if you see one of your regulars doing something, than it isn't a hack (not always). So no, this log file is not a hack, and I can tell you that with 100% certainty, as I have seen these exact type of codes logged before when I used to read server logs. (EDIT): If something is regularly showing up in your server logs, then 9 times out of 10 it isn't going to be a hack. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't investigate, check for suspicious things happening, even spectate the player that was listed (which is IMO the best way to get to the bottom of it).

    Huge Epoch Base - Devils Castle.

    Hey guys, me and some friends built this beast at Devils Castle. I was going to do a video tour, but our base got deleted. Enjoy :) It might be hard to see in these photo's, but we had 3 levels of security. We had concrete walls (they got bugged and turned into half walls) all around devils, forcing players through the main gate. We then had an inner compound where we parked all of our vehicles, this was sealed off with concrete walls/garage doors. Our last level of defense was our keep, which we put a door in front of, and an extra firing position on the top. We wanted to connect the two un-enterable towers (heli parking), but we got an error for max objects. Let me know what you think. Oh, and I might have to go take some screenies of the contents of the safes. :D
