Shouldn't the #1 priority be mods ?

You've been on this huge campaign to bring in military weapons, vehicles and gear. Guess what? They have that game. It's called ARMA -
When I am talking about mods I do not mean simple scripts like Self bloodbag, auto refuel, and tons of vehicles. I am talking about extensive total conversions that bring in new maps, totally new settings, new mechanics, base building etc. Essentially total conversions.

Heavy weapons should be treated like that. Context menu to deploy pieces of the weapon down such as tripods and then you can mount the actual weapon on the base. Bases of weapons such as a tripod should be weldable to a vehicles.

Hackers/dupping/bad patches etc started the large influx of regular open servers to go private. Once private using Mods was just a given... I ran a server almost from day one and I know why I went private and it was due to hackers. Nothing like logging in to find all the vehicles on the map blown up on the beach daily.. Once we went private again Mods just crept in.. You do make a point. If the game takes a steep dive in the developmental stages and they just push it out. Cough, Cough Arma 3. Then the community will work around it. With support or not. If they can keep the hackers/dupping/bad patches/ lack of content to a bare minimum so even the regular Joe doesn't have to worry about them then I don't ever see private hives or mods getting even one tenth of the player population.

Well I think the features that would make a train uniquely useful would be that they are faster than road vehicles and also that they should really be easier to patch up to working condition than a car because there shouldn't be any reason why they would be damaged whilst a car would likely have had a crash or been looted in an apocalyptic event. Also, this game is all about realism and so this adds another aspect of that that furthers the feel of the DayZ experience. I like this game because everything seems plausible and it has a simulator feel to it. In a real life apocalypse i cant see a reason why you couldn't try commandeer a train if you wanted to. So the ability to do this would just make DayZ feel more legit I suppose. I know this feature wouldn't be a priority but I certainly think it would have use and be very exciting and impressive.

Trains would really have the least utility of all the vehicles. MAYBE they should be electric-powered, able to work if you get Elektro's power running. Also, they need an inland extension of the rail line. Electric trains are already in Brockovka, Ogdenvodsk, and North Haverzino, and by gum it put them on the map!

The Land Rover wasn't the only AWD off-road SUV of its type built! I suggest the Toyota Land Cruiser, one of the most reliable and produced off-roaders in history. Either the original FJ40 manufactured from 1960 - 1984: or one of its successors, the FJ60 manufactured from 1980 - 1992 or both. Rugged and appropriate. Also up for consideration: 1990s Nissan Patrol (Warning, these photos are big.) Again, good SUV type of vehicle that is a direct competitor to the Land Rover. I would nominate the Jeep Cherokee XJ from 1987 - 2001 as it is renowned for its reliability and its simple AMC engine as well as pretty much all the features of the above vehicles but the odds of finding that in a former bloc country seems notably slim. -

At the few spawns further away from cherno or elektro, i would constantly find dead bodies of new players in the same exact spots. Then i realized why.. They are all simply looking for the nearest place to suicide so they can get a better spawn closer to one of the three hotspots. 1st of all: thats because the game is somewhat broken right now, and i find it funny that you see yourself so holy that your opinion is actually so good, you can predict how an entire "formula" of game will turn out. please, spare me your ignorance. 2nd of all: THE GAME IS IN ALPHA. how many goddamn times must this be repeated? i made an account on this forum finally just so i can reiterate this. everything is broken, unrealistic, and yes. there are 3 major hotspots. as shakespeare would say, "NO DURST". there are quite a few other things that will hopefully be implemented that will indirectly take care of this problem. by this i mean: An actual reason not to die. fresh spawns dont care- yes, thats true. however rocket decides to fix this (or if they fix it at all) is fine. Loot is broken, not to mention its predictable. once the spawns are more randomized and dont need a server reset, freshies wont be scrambling around for nothing, there will be loot to find most definately. 3rd of all: IT. IS. A. FOOTRACE. running simulator 2014. guess what? thats kind of a true thing. no, there arent any vehicles of any kind but in all honesty. if you stay in one place ina post apocalyptic world your going to die. your going to run out of food, and eventually be detected by other predators. not the smartest idea to sit in one place unless youve built a little fortress. It's more fun to find loot unexpectedly in an unlikely location than to simply just race all 30 other players to balota.. well. i seriously doubt your going to find a shotgun in the middle of the forest. or an m4 in a residential house. while were at it, why do schools have weapons in them? i find random loot all the time. a shotgun in a barn is a nice surprise, as is a mosin or a blaze chilling on a School rooftop. there is random loot, not as much as we like, but guess. fucking. what. ITS ALPHA. and even if it was beta, i would still say. ITS BETA. judge the game once its released, not in an aplha you ignoramus. -
Nope. He wants you to train up skills otherwise you may not repair vehicles. I don't want skills, I just want minigames.

I just had such high expectations for the game. I think I need to take a break from the for a while. I just have a few questions and again these aren’t insults there just questions. The standalone was made because the standard arma engine didn’t have the ability to realise Dean’s ambitions for the game so….. Why is the standalone more tasking on ones PC ? and this is with zero loot re-spawns and minimal zombies etc Why cant the updated engine / code manage loot re-spawns , isn’t that a step backwards. Why can’t the current system manage zombies? Why can’t the system manage animals? The whole thing bar player animations / graphics seems like a step back 2 years I just don’t get it. I just worry that im getting 30FPS yes on high I could turn it down but thats 30 FPS with very little in the game. How is dean going to get it to run with loot , vehicles , zombies etc etc. I think he’s dropped a bollock TBH. These are valid questions and need more attention that it’s just an alpha.

I like the idea for horses but it seems vehicles would come first because they seem easier to code for this engine.

I definitely think they should add vehicles, but I think it should be much later. Horses should be here for a while to make people really appreciate vehicles. I can see it now...a squad of averagely coordinated squeaking asshats gathering supplies to get a humvee working. All the while you're trying your hardest to gather a can of tuna and find a place to take a shit. All you hear is an engine in the distance, and as you turn around you catch a glimpse of some fucker in a raincoat and hardhat screaming "DO YOU EVEN LIFT?!?!?!" as he runs you down.

OP is forgetting one thing! DayZ is not only a survival game, but a walking simulator. As a walking simulator it rocks! All that empty space and neat looking towns. Better stock up before going on your hike, you might get hungry ;) Honestly, the zombies, looting, and PvP are just a backdrop to the true meaning of this game: walking. Honestly vehicles sound like they will be a bit game breaking, I say at best you either get a horse like you suggested or a bicycle. I would love to be in full kit riding through kamishovo on a pink bike, maybe even with training wheels and streamers.

We have a new server that just has started today. We are hoping to get poeple on the server to have more fun and to enjoy the PvE aspects of the game. We are still setting up some features for the server but we are inviting you to join and have fun. We have very friendly admins that would love to help you if you needed it so dont hesitate to ask. In a list below I will have all the mods that we have or will very soon have on the server. I use a good ol' nickel. Works so I don't complain. When we have vehicles won't be much of an issue. I'd rather have a "moon' macro, so i can show my ass to you before my mate ventilates you. -
Not all men can pilot an helicopter, make a blood transfusion and shoot with a sniper rifle. so, there is a way to make this more realistic but at the same time enjoyable? I'm not talking about classes like in team fotress 2; anyone will be able to do almost anything in the game. For example: a sniper can both shoot with his rifle and repair a car but he probably does the first better than the other. There are 5 classes and each one has 3 different specializations, so 15 specializations. them are listed below. The only different between specialization is the skill tree that cannot be unlocked with exp points but by challages. To unlock new abilities you have to complete some particular challanges, different from one ability to another. When you first spawn, your character has no abilities regardless of the choosen class. As you progress you learn new abilities and skills based on the class you choosen. This way there will be more cooperation between players and less little Chuck Norris spamming bullets in the head of an unlucky newbie. Obviously, when you die you lose your progresses... To combine the class system with the humanity system there are also 4 additional classes that develop only with humanity points. When you reach a certain amount of humanity points you can choose another additional "special" class or a second specialization of your actual class. Class list: ( UPPERCASE = CLASS lower case = specialization ) SOLDIER: BETTER USING GUNS AND WEAPONS marine: more agile. less reload time. better in hand to hand combat. gunner: more resistant. less recoil with all guns. better using heavy weapons sniper: harder to spot. more precision with all guns. better using long range weapons. SURVIVOR: BETTER IN SURVIVING AND AGAINST ZOMBIES hunter: less hungry. expert in hunting. can jump higher and longer. Fisher man: less thirst. expert in fishing. can swim faster. thief: resistant to sleep. expert in looting. can run faster. HANDYMAN: VERY USEFUL WHEN PLAYING IN GROUP builder: can build advanced structures and barricades. cook: can combine foods to make recipes. farmer: can grow crops ENGINEER: BETTER USING VEHICLES AND ADVANCED GEARS mechanic: can repair object such as weapons or vehicles. pilot: drives vehicles of all kinds better. sapper: can set up traps and craft advanced gears. MEDIC: BETTER HEALING AND HELP OTHER PLAYERS surgeon: can revive players and perform advanced operations first aid: can make medicines and fix little wounds faster. priest: it's a "humanity medic". he regains 1 humanity points per minute and can use holy object. Special classes: HERO: he has no special abilities but is better than the normal player NINJA: the best against bandits. nearly impercempible. can use different special combat abilities. GENERAL: can create and command platoons and give orders. BANDIT: when you reach a negative amount of humanity points, this class gives you penalities instead of benefits. This list is only a summary: i've got a lot of cool ideas for each class. For example: a very skilled ninja can catch up a flying arrow with his bare hands then throwing a shuriken to his murder or the thief can use picklocks to open locked chests. Introduction Greetings! We are a brand new clan known as "Bad Company!" Now, I know it's not an original name, but it is what we do that counts. We are a clan that operates with it's own dedicated (private hive) server. Like many of you, we enjoy the core sandbox features of the game. However; we weren't content to leave it at that. We wanted to inject a sense of Role Play into the gaming experience, and to be honest, it's quite fun! Now, that doesn't mean you have to run around saluting people, using military terms. Instead, we have created a three (3) faction system within the server. Each faction plays a role, and partakes in the many fun features of Dayz. Clan Factions Now that I have introduced you to the concept of factions, let me go into detail about what they are. Like I said, there are three factions. The Bandits, The Soldiers, and The Survivors. By default, everyone starts under the Survivors faction, which is considered neutral. You can, however; Decide to apply for the other two factions. Spots are limited on both sides, so we will choose those who are most qualified to be a Soldier/Bandit. Each faction has its pro's/con's, strictly for server balance. Faction Rules/Roles The Survivors - You are the breach between good and evil. The world is destroyed, under chaos, and is extremely dangerous. As a Survivor, you are not permitted to kill on sight. You can however, defend yourself. If someone shoots at you, go ahead and shoot back. Even if it means killing the bad guy. You are free to create your own Survival groups, and camps. You aren't bound by any authority, either. The Bandits - These guys exist for for one reason, and one reason alone. To spread and create more chaos! In this case, you are a group of soldiers gone bad. This faction can be, at times, the most powerful! We have designed a large bandit camp in the middle of the forest for this very faction(Bunkers, watch towers, etc..). The largest upside for this faction, is the very fact that their camp is untouchable. Don't fear placing tents/vehicles in this fortress, as we punish those who take from it. Think of this base as your chaos headquarters! Your specific goal stems from killing Survivors, looting everything, and fighting The Soldiers. Breaking the Bandit code could result in DEATH! The Soldiers - Now you are wondering, out of all the chaos, is there anyone left who is good? These guys are. Like the Bandits, the Soldiers have a base located somewhere on the map. This is where the PvP gets interesting. The Soldiers exist to put an end to the Bandits, and protect the Survivors. From time to time, you may notice the Soldiers dropping care packages. Or flying into a town, guns blazing, clearing a town of zombies for fellow Survivors. This faction isn't dumb, though. They know that the Bandits exist, and will be in constant fire fight with them. In short, they are the only defense for this world! This faction can shoot Bandits on sight, but can only shoot Survivors if shot at first. Remember, these are the good guys. Recruitment Here is how the recruitment process works. Over time, we will recruit more of certain factions to establish PvP balance. Simple right? Just make sure to check bellow for the open factions. Open Factions(Need more Bandits before we recruit Soldiers) - The Survivors CLOSED Factions- The Bandits The Soldiers Application- Name(Just your first name will work)- Age- Country- Game name/Tag- Do you have a Mic?- Would you be willing to install a voice chat service(raidcall/team speak...etc.)?- How much Dayz experience do you have?- How many hours per week do you play Dayz?- What are you best at (Flying, Shooting, Surviving, etc...)- Which faction would you like to apply for?- Please either respond in this thread, or send me a PM. Even in the mod you could do that. Tents and vehicles outside the map dissapeared on reset, not inmediately on crossing the border. -

In the mod ya could build out there, and store cars ect. Our server had to have some custom cleanup thing done that respawned any vehicles left there on restart. We had a cheeky group flying the heli off map to store it lol. Id bet the SA will have something built in to combat that :)
