    Direction of development: rocket & co. please read!

    I'm... not... going... to... say... it... Watch this: TBH, your concerns about the direction of development are unfounded. What you are writing about as trivial and little things are some of the bigger problems for modders of the RV engine contend with. As someone who has tried with limited success to create a MP-capable weather sync system for ArmA3, I can tell you the engine actively fights you on this. If Dean and team have found a fix for this, brilliant! But it still needs testing, which is our main purpose here. As to some of the issues with the Zs, this is an ongoing problem. It hasn't seen significant changes in the public builds as it is only a placeholder system ATM. It is intended to be completely rewritten at some point, and fixing the existing system would just be so much wasted development time. We've got a long way to go. Wee've got at least 6 months before they are looking to include vehicles. That's a lot of time to fix bugs and reinforce the basic framework they'll be hanging everything else off of. A lot of the small things they are adding is simply because the framework already supports them.     There Is Hope For DayZ

    TO ALL WHO SAY THAT KOS IS ONLY BECAUSE OF A LACK OF CONTENT: You must not have played the mods. KOS will always be there. More content is just more content. Vehicles = fast paced clan wars, and bandits quickly clearing towns Bases = base attacks and ambushes Hunting = getting shot while skinning an animal Fishing = shot at the lake Trading/Shops = places for bandits to snipe The only thing that Ive seen detract against KOS is super dangerous Zeds that spawn in large packs forcing everyone to be so afraid of shooting that they work together. Even then, still plenty of KOS. Just slightly more friendly players as a whole.

    2016 seems to be an exaggeration, but other than that I completely agree. My squad is really bummed now because the population on US3480 is going down but SA just isn't fun yet for us. We fully appreciate and understand the *potential* of SA, but in it's current state it's just a zombieless sandbox game with people derping around making "funny" videos of taking their pants off, pointing at things, and handcuffing people. No motivation to go North, no real presence of squad play, and no populated night time servers. Couple that with the complete lack of vehicles (which tends to be a primary objective in DayZ) and you just have people wandering around coastal towns trying to take funny pictures and post them on Reddit. For us, the mod is still where it's at. We hope to see the update go live. =\

    Considering it's using the engine of Take on Helicopters I would assume it's the pbo's from there or ARMA. I wouldn't really pay attention to it, as there's nothing to it, I don't even think they have started working on the vehicles. EDIT: This is the content of the vehicle.pbo: It's simple, normal ARMA-stuff. And so on...

    I didn't say that it will be defenetely impossible but by looking at the current server performance status and taking into account that coming server performance improvments will be equalized by new implemented stuff ( like more players, animals, loot and zombie respawn, loot containers, persistent storage , vehicles, basebuilding keeping dead bodies for a longer time, new map areas etc etc) it does not look that good for large zed hoards....is that so hard to understand...even as a longtime fan and forum member I do not have to like and believe everything just because the game is alpha ...I also do not like the uni sex approach ..but.that's just me as it seems it is not possible anymore to discuss things here on the forums properly without running into new members who think they must defend their beloved game even if their only argument is "ALPHA"... honestly this sucks ...no wonder more and more old regulars are gone or do not post that often here anymore....

    Bluffing and sadism.

    I wish I had a chance to play like this because it would be so much fun. Instead all I get are bullets whizzing by and I either return fire or bolt into the wilderness. People go on and on about how KOS is great and a badge of honor but the game would be infinitely more fun if people tried to kidnap folks or just shake them down for gear. It may change once vehicles get implimented and some people can simply drive up on you and tell you to get in the car and then drive back to their base or some desolate spot to finish you off. Right now this game for me plays like an extended counter strike mission which is sad because thats not what DayZ is supposed to be

  11. The question I have is: Why is everyone against having a lot of military gear in the game? I would like to think that if something like this happened the military/police would be the ones to respond. Therefore it is my idea that military loot would be as random as civilian loot. Everyone rushing to leave and find a safe place to live would not even bother with picking up items off the ground. Maybe I'm just looking at it from the wrong perspective. Edit: 1) Not only referring to weapons. I'm counting in the clothing/vests and equipment. 2) Also speaking of vehicles when they are implemented. 3) There is no "gun" that is strictly for military. Unless you're looking at some of the high end explosives/grenade launchers. Almost every weapon the military uses has some sort of civilian counter part. Meaning most of the time they are no longer fully automatic.

    Its a bizarre assumptions rodeo everyone! Lets all join in! I think Rocket is secretly on the take from companies that make hiking gear, that is why there aren't vehicles in the game yet.

    I don't think that 50 players + including their saved gear etc have less impact on performance than adding a few more zombies and I am defenetely not moaning about missing zombie variations, not functioning pathfinfing, no collision, no proper Ai, no proper damage system shitty sounds etc etc etc since I also know this is alpha ( I am around here on the forums since the very beginning I am not completely stupid....).but taking into account that adding more players will cost performance resources...adding animals will cost performance resources....adding loot respawn will cost resources...adding numerous towns and locations will also have impact on the performance as well as adding features like vehicles, tents, loot storages, basebuilding etc makes me wonder if it will even be possible to add the pure number of zombies that would be necessary for a nice zombie apocalypse scenario. Just imagine how many zeds they will just have to place at the new locations in the north and on Utes ( not being sure if there are even more new islands planned).I think we can be happy if we will see respawning zombies added to all locations( including the new areas) mayby slightly inreased in number compared to what we have right now. Probably they will try to compensate that by making them more dangerous and deadly. But I am pretty sure that it will never be possible to add the masses and hoards that we all would like to see using the current system ( spwaning them all at server start). And this is why I start to think that servers for 50 players and the zombie spawn system sytem which is used in the mod would be probably better (zombies only spawn if players are around but in large numbers) as I also said these are just my thoughts....no rant or moaning... no need to call the fanboy police ....

    big numbers ! for sure i thought it may orginally top out at a million by end of this year before release but its looking like 2million is a reality now or even more. thing is as said alot have jumped on the hype train to early and i bet a tenth of those who actually brought it are playing at moment. thing is now they have all th mega cash i would like to see proper through development at a good speed. we hav had alot of patches lately but cars bases and good big game changing content should come soon now they have the manpower and money to do it. BI will be basking in the success and so will be rocket but lets remember we paid for this so let get some real good content out . would really like to hear especially on the main content and how thats progressing like vehicles and base building or fortification. those two will be the core content that many are waiting for. i understand alot of work needs to be done but it isnt modders anymore this is big money and studio is fully behind it so this should be out soon. 3 months is more than enough to get the vehicles in. keep the players interested.

    Agreed. When they add vehicles it sure will be the first step to more fun. BUT without some sort of containers like tents for base building. This game would get pretty dull in a matter of hours/days

    Rocket already said that binoculairs are almost ready so expect them soon. And he said that vehicles come after hunting/cooking/crafting (lets call them the big 3.) with bikes probably being the first ones to get tested.All of these will come in 6 months or less so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

    You know what? It would be nice to see bikes and binoculars in-game, running around the entire world sucks, why not show us in the Bike the idea you guys from DayZ SA want to bring to the game vehicles. I heard that you guys wanted to make something like shooting from inside the vehicles in movement, why not let us drive the bike and shoot with pistols? :D I think it would be great to test/early-improve and have these features in-game on it's current phase.

    Sorry, but I find it kinda dumb they still have to wait for Dean's approval. With the release of the SA, he should have given up any authority over the mod and handed it off to others. 1.8.1 has been ready for 5+ months now.... it's absurd that it hasn't been released yet. I'll eventually switch over to SA, but not until there's vehicles. And the rate they're going, that'll be 2016

Hackers are banned very quickly, and if an admin is not present, posting on the forums at out website is a quick way to get one. Features -Logistics Lifting -Custom WAI based mission system -Refuel/Repair at gas stations -Safe safezones -Many new vehicles added to the trader -Many more to come. Our server has limited tanks, so you could not for example, buy a t90 and completely rape everything on the server. That's not what we wanted. Currently our selection of tanks is limited to a t34 and a Tunguska to combat the jets. If you are interested in our server please come hop in! I'm always adding new things and the server runs smooth hosted by hfbservers which is a high performance company.     I believe it's already been addressed that the running full sprint wouldn't been removed until they offered vehicles. I could be wrong. I usually am. But until they do I will run Forrest run.
  23. Two things. First off, a month or a month and a half ago, I died as my character a male, and when I respawned, I respawned as a girl. I went to the homepage and checked my default character, when I got there, my character was still shown as a male and I pressed "Set as default character". But to this day it hasnt changed back to a male. Whenever I play I am stuck as a girl. Maybe I wouldnt mind it...but the chick is ugly, even for a computer game. Is this a known bug? Can I fix this? I want my character to be a guy. Second question-Are there vehicles or tents yet?

    Whats Being Done To Combat ESP Hacks?

    Anyone who wants to get the hacks for DayZ will find them. If they really want to hack in DayZ, clearly they don't care about losing a CD Key, which puts them at ending up with the current set of hacks even higher. If you haven't seen all the videos, everywhere, on youtube, of legitimate item, player, and NPC locations, distances to each, toggleable Radar, and autoaim, you haven't looked very hard. Are they commonplace? No, there are probably quite a few would-bes that are too afraid/broke to risk it, and in the majority are players who think cheating in online games is as scummy as it gets. Cheating in a single player game is fine, who cares? As soon as you cheat in an online game, especially ones with databases for items/interaction, the integrity of the game is completely obliterated. At any point, on any server you play on right now, there's a given chance that a hacker could log on, warp over to your location, and autoaim your face as he warps through the walls of the building you're in, making no noise as he's about to deliver the bullet to your dome. Why any of them think that's fun is a different discussion entirely, I don't think that question will ever be answered. ArmA 2 had toggleable AutoAim set in the server options, if this was carried over into the engine for SA, they need to completely remove it from the code, immediately. If NPCs use autoaim, figure something else out. At least autoaim should be able to get rid of, the locations of everything are being pinged from the servers database, and the warping/teleporting could easily be stopped by putting in a check for distance traveled in a given amount of time. There's no vehicles right now, players can only run as fast as they can while sprinting. If they ever move faster than that then warp = DETECTED. Why is DayZ Standalone, created in 2012 and forward, missing features from online games written in 1997? Why was Everquest better at combating player's warping around in 1999 than DayZ is in 2014? Even with vehicles it'd be a simple check of isInVehicle=0, before checking the player's speed, and even if they were in a vehicle, as those will have a maximum speed as well. Come on now.

    Anybody need a partner?

    Hello all! I'm still relatively new to this game. I own both the DayZ MOD and Stand-alone. Running around solo can be quite boring after a while in both versions. I make this forum post in hopes to find a survival companion. None of my friends own it so I'm riding solo. In the Stand-alone, I know how to do everything but use the IV/Blood bags, and in the MOD, I don't know how to build things, buy/sell things, or repair vehicles. I would be willing to learn if you could throw me some DayZ knowledge my way. You don't need to be experienced. I just need a teammate. So if you're looking for a teammate to play with and/or minimally show the ropes please feel free to add me on steam so we can start fragging zombies and bandits! cac_headbusta_
