    Some Suggestions

    I think you're missing the point. There is no way to hide your camp from the sky. It is beyond easy for one group of people with a chopper to scout out the entire map and find every camp. The fact is choppers are OP and shouldn't be added. I suppose choppers would be semi balanced if they were truely rare and limited to one per server as well as hard to repair/maintain and have no weapons, but I would much rather have ground vehicles only.

    Hackers all over place

    If you're referring to why scripting was never stopped in the mod, it's probably because the engine/mod required scripting to be able to spawn loot, zombies, vehicles, animals, etc. To stop scripting, you'd have to rebuild the spawn system... Thus, they used battleye to ban cd keys that used scripting codes.

( Binoculars - optics - wind and zeroing system ) Also i haven't saw any binoculars in standalone and im sure these will be on game soon but there is one important thing binoculars not works like automatic zoom on video cameras when you zoom in there is a blur effect because field of depth. and you can adjust Field of depth on binoculars i think u can add zeroing option on binoculars as well. http://youtu.be/TxEfy66r0G8 also im disappointed about zeroing option on weapons i hope it gets more complicated in time. Because there is no wind effect on bullets there is no horizonal bullet drop. After adding more sniper rifles etc. game going to get ruined again by snipers on city hills. Please make zeroing system more complicated and add wind factor to game its not that hard Arma 2 ace mod did that you can do that too.. Ability of one shot kill should be more hardcore. Otherwise game gonna get ruined as usual. ( Health system and blood type ) For a record i loved the improvements about health system. blood types, syringes etc ) After get shot by bullet. Bandage should not fix everything. Players should heat a knife on campfire and remove bullet if bullet still in your body. in 1 hour character die because of blood poisoning. And please add a feature as crafting poisoned or hollow point bullets that would be cool. - and thing about the blood type. What kind or person lives without knowing his bloodtype ? its so stupid please add some indicator or left bottom side message when character spawned. . Blood test kit should be for only being sure someone lying you or not :) ( ID cards, passports or dogtags as random undropable item at each spawn ) If you guys make somekindof undropable item as ID card, driving licese, passport or Dog tag unique for each player that would be fine for knowing bloodtypes, names - little random background story as jobs and thropies for bandits. That item should be lootable when character is dead or unconcious. That will add game some cool effect you can collect id cards from foes and store them as thropies. Study body option should be only for investigating reason of death. ( Draging and loading dead or unconcious players - Graves for hiding bodies ) After vehicles adding to game there should be option carry or drag bodies. ( even dead ones because looting them on ground is dangerous ) and hiding bodies must be more complicated . We should drag them to dirt surface and bury them with shovel. You can do that as crafting tents i guess when you select option bury dead body turns into grave. and every grave disappears after restart thats all. ( shooting from vehicles ) Please add gunner seat option for civlian vehicles. players o passenger seats should able to shoot and defend themselves. Im sure that feature not gonna turn game into GTA. Aiming and shooting on dayz hard eough to prevent this. ( Civilian night vision = video camera ) :) people have played outlast before understands what im talking about. That should be on dayz too. Night vision googles is high end military equipment its hard to find on dayz as its has to be. but finding video cameras in houses etc. would be great. playing dayz at night will be more playable and fun with that feature also i cant imagine how that item effects on video streamers and youtube gaming channels. They can use that as filming equipment :) like low budget horror films. ( i heard about dayz internet radio channel ) Hope thats true listening music in cars or little hand radios in game will be great. ( Repairing Cars and vehicles - mini games - lock picking ) hope repair system not as dayz mod on standalone. Add simple mini games for repairing like using screwdriver, hammering or connecting electrical circuits ) Please add car keys and hijacking system to game like picking locks etc. looting houses and military will be much fun with that try open locked weapon safes or closets would be great. :) ( Soldier zombies ) zombies not lootable yet i guees and there is no soldier zombies but when you guys add that please add a little random chance to soldier zombie still has his weapon on his back. ( heli crash announces on radios ) there was random helicopter crashes on dayz mod and standalone needs that too but they are always spawns with same pattern. please add more than 40 crash location and before 1 min heli hits the ground people got radio should hear on military channel a distress call from pilot. pilot should give their last grid location before going down. That will change games direction and give players a goal. ( find radio wait for distress call and start search for crashed heli :) ) ( Book request ) :) please add Tolkien books Lord of the rings, sirmarillon etc :) im sure there is some copyright issues about that but i want to collect and read them again in game while i waiting my friends in game :) these suggestions are most of the things i wanted :) please read it once and use them on your game im sure lots of players will embrace these. if you liked those please write comment and share your ideas... sorry for my english :) have a nice day

    Dont you guys think (payday masks)

    The helmets make it look like Warz, Maybe they should only spawn on a motorbike (when vehicles are put in) The masks are fine, only an idiot wears one tho because they show up like a beacon with all the colours and make you an easy target.
  5. Hey guys, Me and my friend just got a dayz server and we've started setting it up and adding the scripts we wanted (Self-Blood Bag etc.) but now I've got another question. I've played on many servers and admins have been able to spawn weapons, briefcases (in epoch), and vehicles in realtime. All the posts reguarding this topic seem to be very outdated. I've seen that they are hacking as well but that is outdated because there is no way almost every admin in DayZ is hacking. We got the server through HFB and I'm wondering how the hell the admins do this, not to be abusive, but to possibly help other players in sticky situatuions. Anyone have any information or if this has been talked about recently pointing me into the right direction of a post I may have missed.

    Suggestion - Usable Train - Dayz SA

    I like the idea to have trains that players can repair and use, but i think that trains shouldn't be this overpowered just increase the capacity as refund for only being able to drive on rails and go for it, i don't see a reason why trains should have gunports and stuff while other vehicles don't.

    I don't care iggy me thats fine. You all are compair this to Battlefield much smaller maps and just faster pace game type. You all play this game for the survivalness of the game and bigger maps to hide tents and stuff on. With the size and rendering distance of the map the game it's going to come with some FPS lost there will be no way to stop that. ~Pager p.s. All the Vehicles haven't been add in yet which is going to make it even more of a challenge for them because that will down FPS as well also Tents and other stuff that are saved to the map. Just more fun for them to come.

    Why no warning on server restart?

    Another thing that comes out from here is this: In a future you will be able to craft some defenses to protect your place (or that's what I've read around internet) and will be able to have a vehicle to hide in that base. With the server restart will all your work (defenses, loot stored, vehicles, other things that you can't hold with you in that moment) disappear? god sake i hope it doesent , cant wait for a stored place or something :) but in the start i guesses since its alpha it will disapear..

    Today I thought that I would like to hide and storage my food and things in a bush with other friends to prevent losing them and going loot more, but then I noticed that if I did that, the server could restart and I'd lose everything. Couldn't the server hosts say at least "Server will restart in 10 minutes"? Things you drop on the floor wont be safe if you don't know when the server will restart.     See, this argument for 3rd person always kind of bothers me, because you can get your 1st person FOV really high in this game. Plenty of people still use the standard FOV when playing DayZ, and you can easily get a 1st person FOV that is much higher than the default 3rd person FOV. Oh well, at least I don't see people complaining about head bob anymore. And to people saying that server owners should have as many options as they want, don't you think it's a good thing that 97% of the servers aren't "10,000 vehicles start with guns daylight 24/7" anymore? Just before SA I actually had a really hard time finding any server that wasn't like that. It may be their own server, but giving people too much freedom just means that they're going to go for the lowest common denominator, and make DayZ into something that it's not. I certainly hope that doesn't happen to the standalone as well. Anyways, since we are able to have only one or two items across all servers now, I think there should be a very small amount of news choppers, but completely wrecked. I imagine all of the ones in working order would have already left Chernarus.

    Sniper Rifles

    Right, let's put this into perspective. The only reason AS50's were originally in DayZ was because of Arma 2. AS50's are military standard weapons that marksmen train to master. I don't think it's realistic when a random survivor picks up this 50 cal and without any experience goes on a killing spree, beyond the point... This weapon is used to penetrate light armoured vehicles and to shoot through walls. I don't think rocket should even think about thinking about adding it!

    there will be servers for 1st person and third so you will be able to pick n choose, I understand the bullshitery of third and want to try more firstperson. helicopters yeah they are not needed at all, I mean maybe it would be cool to have super rare ones but I mean super rare rare rare ya know and not op with guns just for transport and maybe you can shoot your handgun from the side passenger seats or something. The character per server thing is silly I must say, just rejoin the same server then. what if a server goes down that you play on a lot then well great your home is lost and with base building, stashes and vehicles in the future updates you will return to the same server unless you loose everything. And your other ideas I think are cool.

    Remove thrid person is great for the game feeling at all. An idea for adding choppers: Add choppers but hold an amount limit of 1 or 2, make them realy realy hard to repair (rare reapir parts like main rotor -> Split the item) so most people dont try to begin it. Add a kind of skill system for vehicles (not sure if it is a good idea) but it is an idea. Greetings ReDim42
  14. Well, vehicles at least. Ability to drive is all up to you. Yep. Whether underground bases are still planned or if it will be something else I'm not sure. I do now that barricades and other player constructed objects will be in at some point. The transitions between animations aren't finished and that adds a lot to the clunky feel. For instance when an action is changed (design-wise) the timing of the animation will be off and hence it will feel unresponsive. It will be polished and tweaked. Can't remember any confirmation but I would assume so. How the will work (as in will they work the same way as the mod?) I do not know. If building and tents are in? Yep! More items in general will be added. Both useful stuff and space wasting crap. Dean talked about growing plants and foraging and stuff not long ago. EDIT: Oh, yes. Animals and the hunting of them will be expanded upon as well. Compared to the mod I would say it already is. It's also known that Dean wants to see other maps in the future. Same as above really. Once it leaves alpha and perhaps even beta and modding is released who knows what will be created?

    *notices pants on head comment... cannot restrain himself* To be -sure- I read this right... you are making a note of how the AS50 is 'gas' operated as in petrol fuel? As in... pour diesel into your rifle for it to work... This comment, much like so many here makes it painfully apparent many of the people here have no experience or working knowledge of -actual- fire arms. The M4A1 is not a "high powered assault rifle". In fact it is not an assault rifle at all. The M4A1 is a carbine, which is a shorter and lighter version of a combat rifle/battle rifle. The AK-47 and it's off shoots -are- assault rifles. People are talking about 'average joes' not being able to handle M4 recoil. -Child- soldiers in Africa operate AK-47's with lethal effects, and the AK has twice the recoil of an M4. During night training in the US Army, we literally fired our M4's at targets slung lightly at our waist using the IR lasers to hit our targets. M4A1 recoil is extremely easy to handle. As noted by others it's also extremely well spread and distributed across the world. Comparing M4A1 standard issue light carbines to specialized anti-material rifles is like... well... comparing a gecko to a dinosaur. As others have said, -why- have a .50 cal rifle in the game? What purpose or role does it fill? The reason they were in the mod was simple... they were in Arma2. Why were they in Arma2? Because that was a full spectrum military simulator. It could be used for all of it's intended roles in a military sim. The only 'role' a .50 Cal fits into in DayZ is for sniping. Ok so you want to snipe for good or ill. Well here is a Mosin. Maybe they will even add a Remington 700. SVD? Sure why not. All of these fill the 'needed' role of reaching out and touching your target without them knowing you are there. If these weapons serve the purpose, someone explain why a .50 Cal rifle is needed or even a good idea? I am sorry, but anyone claiming to use an AS50 for any purposes other than trolling is full of their beans. If you are shooting people at 800+ meters, I am pretty sure you are not running down there to snag their loot. Which means you are just acting like the thumb of God and smiting people for your own amusement. I played the Mod a -lot- and I have had the AS50 and the M107. I purposely used them to kill bandits in Cherno, but found it a better choice to use things like the DMR instead. Even in the mod the .50 Cal rifles just serve no real purpose. I have been killed a lot in the SA so far, but at least they have never been to snap and a 'You are Dead' screen. Also, to the gent arguing that the military had time/resources to import Hummers and 'infinite assault rifles'... Hummers are light vehicles and widely spread all over the armed forces. There are entire motor pools of the things collecting dust in hundreds of bases around the world, not to mention rapid deployment options for the Marine Corps and the like. The M4 carbine is standard issue for regular grunts. Granted not the A1 version, but really burst fire and full auto doesn't make much of a difference. My Drill Sarge emptied a 30 round magazine on target using semi-auto faster than my buddy could dump using full auto. In a containment and civilian centric operation like the outbreak would have been, they would not have had .50 Cal rifles, bazookas (AT4), claymores, or any of the like. Even if there were 'bandits' they had to fight. I have served for 5 years in the US Army including tours overseas and I have seen a grand total of -one- .50 Cal sniper rifle and it was at a zeroing range in Afghanistan. Like Rocket says, it's not about realism, it's about being 'authentic' and a .50 Cal sniper rifle is not authentic to the setting or Rocket's vision of DayZ. Period.

    There's a lot you can look into to find out this and more but here we og. Vehicles will be added. Some form of base building too. Animations I don't think will be changing much. Try ArmA 2's. Tents I really don't know but wouldn't be surprised considering they were in the mod. Define "camps" There's enough food but animals will be added which you can kill, gut, and eat. The world isn't big enough? Not enough terrain?? Maybe they'll make Altis work and you just won't know what to do with yourself.

    Maybe turn down the basebuilding a bit. Sound like you want to build a town :D AK is something they will add for sure.. Now.. I would like to see some basebuilding, but more like a camp and not a fortress xD - But the crops is a good idea (I actually think they allready mentioned this) EDIT: The plating on cars etc. is something I could imagine being implemented. Surely that could be one of the reasons why they are remaking the vehicles completely

    I had a Dream!

    ...about DayZ. Humor me. In my dream, I saw civilian vehicles with armor plates that players put on themselves. These vehicles had interchangeable slots in the interior like switching out the bed of a truck for a medical ambulance, or a machine gun. The vehicle mechanic system was even more complex than the medical and nutrition system. There were custom built bases with sandbags, gates, barbed wire, hesco's, and guard towers. Towns were filled with Zombies, so many that veteran players banned together to help fresh spawns get out of hot zones and helped them gear up. People had to actually work together to survive. The base building system was so intricate that you could build shelves, beds, bunks, armories, cafeterias, grow your own crops inside your base. It was amazing.

    What would you like see added to the game

    For me the mod added a lot of cool features, I like a lot of the ideas in Project Zomboid which would be cool to have in DayZ I.e fortifying buildings with hammers and nails, (PZ) putting sheets up at the windows (PZ) farming, seeds tools etc, being able to live off the land and be self sufficient (PZ) crafting water butts that fill when it rains, used for drinking and growing crops (PZ) some others: natural resources - oil wells (crafting distillation equipment for petrol for vehicles), Wood, Stone, (for construction) guilds/clans - territory ownership and the claim to the resources within those territories in depth character creation, weight/height/occupation/traits etc.

    I've also had loads of fun with the choppers, I just don't think they're beneficial to the game as a whole. They make a few good experiences but overall they just destroy the gameplay. IF camps can be so well hidden / camouflaged that they aren't easily spotted from a low flying chopper scanning the forests with a fine tooth comb, then I'm fine with having them added. As of the start of the mod helicopters have made camps almost completely pointless. They would have to add in a lot of very in-depth items which allow you to re-color or cover up vehicles and tents/bases. Otherwise adding choppers would just mean everyday your camp is raided and all your items are gone... unless you're the one with the chopper.

    It doesn't fit the setting, nor would the military deploy a .50 sniper rifle in the event of the zombie apocalypse. It's not practical. On that note, .maybe a 50 cal could be added in the future, as a vehicle mounted weapon when vehicles and vehicle modding is added and working, and make the ammo super rare, because ya know the troops expended most of them on the oncoming hordes.
  22. Shut up & take my money :) Seriously... if you keep in mind that its a pre alpha, you WILL enjoy it. Old fashioned DayZ - NO .50 cal noob-bandits, NO Vodniks, BTQs or other shit-tanklike vehicles... i really hope it stays that way.

    Some Suggestions

    1. Equipped weapon melee! It just sucks having someone at gunpoint and knowing you have to switch to a melee weapon or fists before you can knock them out or even the handcuffs before you can detain them. That one little moment could cause you to lose control of the situation and end up with you being force fed disinfectant spray and/or dead. Also, If you melee with a weapon there could even be a chance to break the stock or some other part on the weapon. 2. ArmA 3 Stand Animations! This one is pretty self explanatory but I'll just leave this here for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C78KrLeMnu4 Unfortunately he doesn't mention the side-step animations that also exist, but I'm sure you get the idea. 3. Supply Collection / Modular Base Building! Of all the mod variations, I have to say Epoch had the most well developed base building system(I believe there was another with a really similar system but I can't remember the name of it). I'd say it's an ideal place to start and beginning improving from. Nothing says accomplishment like collecting a massive amount of base building materials and forging a base from nothing with your bare hands, either from scratch or by using some of the existing architecture in the world. It practically makes my mouth water when I picture this system improved and then combined with the ability to enter 99.9% of the buildings in DayZ Standalone. I would just leave out things such as they key-code locked safe they have. Item lose is and should remain part of DayZ but that doesn't mean it should be easy....In-fact you could keep something such as the safe if you implemented a way to crack it other than spending the rest of eternity trying to guess combinations. I would also leave out the merchants that Epoch has, trading and item value should be completely player driver and based on barter. Here is a pretty good example as to how it works in DayZ Epoch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvBXXwX_pm4 4. Player to Player Trade UI and "Mark" friendly players! There should really be a way of initiating a trade with other players that is complete with an actual UI. This would be a huge improvement over having to throw items on the ground to trade, which just seems weird to be honest. I would say your hands have to be empty and you can't have your fists raised to be able to access the trade UI. It would also be nice to be able to mark other players as friendly. It wouldn't add any sort of UI or make them easier to tell apart from anyone else. All it would do is allow players who trust eachother to more quickly trade with eachother without the need for the trade UI or dropping of items. Just like with the trade UI, I would say your hands would need to be empty and your fists lowered, this would allow the option to pop up in the in-game scroll menu, and again, for it to work, both people have to "Befriend" eachother. Say I meet my friend in game. I look at him and use the in-game scroll menu to select "Befriend" or something of the sort. If he does the same then we're marked as friendly. I can then enter his backpack or he can enter mine and looting it is similar to how it worked in the mod. That way I could give him food, drink or meds without having to force feed him. I could give him ammo or take ammo I need if we were in the middle of a gunfight. You could even have someone refilling your weapon's magazines so you didn't have to take your eyes off a crucial target! 5. Weapon scopes usable as Binoculars! We should be able to hold weapon optics in our hands and use them! 6. Noise-Makers! Find some firecrackers+matches, glass bottles or perhaps...flashbang grenades and be able to toss/place them somewhere to lure in the infected. I just can't stop picturing a nice surprise for server hoppers when they spawn into a small barracks room filled with infected. Reminds me of the good ol' days of seeing a server hopper spawn onto a tank trap. 7. Ruined Item Drawbacks! I know some ruined items have drawbacks already and most are pretty obvious/common sense but here are some others to consider. -Ruined Clothes/Backpacks: fairly high chance to fall off and be on the ground, high chance for things to fall out of the pockets fairly high chance for both to happen at the same time. You would have to stop to pick them back and put items back into the pockets. -Ruined Canned Food: Filled with shards of metal from the can. Fairly high chance to make you bleed from the mouth, unable to be stopped with bandages but stops bleeding on it's own after a very short amount of time. High chance of making you sick and antibiotics could counter it as per the norm. -Ruined Magazines/Ammo: When loaded into a weapon and fired they have an extremely high chance of causing the weapon to jam. -Ruined Bandaged: Very high chance to NOT stop the bleeding. 8. UI/Overlays for Different Headgear! If you're wearing something such as a motorcycle helmet or gas mask, there should be an overlay on the screen to show it. Think of it as how the nightvision works in the mod. 9. Infected hordes and stragglers! I was up north earlier(Which looks absolutely gorgeous) and I found the lack of zombies a bit saddening. There are a lot of areas with really dense trees right along side the road and I just kept thinking how awesome it would be to all the sudden have a group of 10+ infected pop out of them because they heard my footsteps from just out of sight. It'd also be nice to have random single zombies out in the middle of nowhere as well. I know the zombie count is a massive work in progress but this is something to keep in mind! 10. Separate characters for each server... or something! I just like that feeling of having a "Home" server. When you can join any server that feeling is gone. Perhaps there is a way to have a unique ID for your character that is stored somewhere safe that tells the main hive what gear to give your character for whichever server you join? I dunno, I'm certainly no programmer but there must be a way to do it without storing massive amounts of data for each player. Just tossing out ideas! 11. Don't add helicopters! I absolutely love flying helicopters in the DayZ Mod and ArmA. I really think they shouldn't be added, at all, to Standalone. In the mod they always made camps pointless. Players in a chopper could find every camp on the server in a single day. I just don't want to see all the amazing camp/base locations I've found made obsolete because of an un-needed flying vehicle. I'm all for having nearly any type of ground vehicle. However - If we have the means of making our camps and vehicles so well camouflaged that they are able to be hidden from a chopper that is flying low and specifically looking for camps, I'd be fine with them being added. 12. Remove third person! Usually I'm all about choice but on this topic I don't think there should be one. Third person gives all players and a godly advantage over all other players... but not at the same time. A person peeking around a corner with third person will kill the player approaching the corner 99/100+ times. Third person makes it MUCH easier to spot other players at a distance. It allows you to see over, around and even through walls, doors, windows, grass, bushes, trees and hills. It's much easier to aim using third person and a crosshair than first person. It removes the sense of fear and confusion almost completely. I'm sure I will eventually be able to choose between a first and third person server but that doesn't solve the problem. The first person servers will always be near empty or the owner won't continue to pay for them for long periods of time from lack of players and donations. Also, everyone who enjoys playing first person only has at least one friend who doesn't want to play first person, someone losses every time you play together. The number one reason it should be removed is because doing so makes the game more balanced for everyone. It removes the ability to have an unequal, nearly unbeatable, advantage from every player which is a very good thing. Honestly, it goes against the entire point of the mod... hardcore, unforgiving survival where risk and fear of death are constant companions. No Private Hives / Minimum server owner control! The server admins shouldn't be able to change the settings for the game. Especially when their settings effect every other server. If they add private hive servers with custom settings then then game will just devolve into what the mods are now... a whole lot of garbage with a few good features. All they should be able to do is manage the players on the server. They shouldn't be able to lock servers and if they just ban everyone who joins so they can play alone, their server should be removed from the list. If you think that sounds cruel then you're wrong. All it's doing is stopping players from giving themselves an advantage. If you think that's a bad thing then it's the exact same thing as saying hacking isn't a bad thing. I know many of these have been suggested to death, it just goes to show how important they are and it's always worth mentioning them again.   24. Yeah, I think that's a given. But what OP questions is the decision to base the SA off a completely new engine and architecture instead of starting with what they had in the mod and just continually develop. The plusses of the latter would be that all the functionality of todays mod would be intact (models, guns, vehicles, zombie and loot behavior). The reason they decided to go for a fresh approach instead of continuing to develop the mod into a full version has been elaborated on by rocket a great deal. I think his initial thought was the same as your. I remember he said somewhere around September last year that "the project was a failure if it wasn't out by new year". But the weeks came and went and rocket and the team saw the need for a totally new approach to many aspects of the game that needed more than just "tweaking" for DayZ:SA to become what he had envisioned. This includes the server architecture, the inventory system and the new animations. I guess these are the most important factors as to why they started fresh instead of building on what they had.
