  1. There is no confirmed date for when vehicles are going to be implemented. I fucking hope it's soon, can't wait to drive around Balota in my super car fitted with hydraulics pickin' up bitches
  2. Or even a bicycle, that will be awesome once it's in the game.

    Real life zombie apocalypse

No, I don't think it is nor will it be an accurate representation. For one, when you die you die there's no respawns in real life, which means people would generally be a lot more afraid of the consequences of their actions. Most people don't know shit about injuries, definitely not how to treat stab wounds, bullet wounds... using a bandage? Yeah right, not very likely when you've just had your gut punctured by a blade or a bullet. And taking myself as an example, I couldn't fix a car if my life depended on it - I can change a tire and that's about it, I've never had any interest in mechanics or motor vehicles of any kind. So obviously that's a person I'd want with me, just hoping that someone would find someone with knowledge in chemistry beneficial... most people haven't skinned an animal either, or gutted it or know what the hell to do with it once it's dead and skinned (this is after all a time where you wouldn't want to waste anything, the hide from the animal could become very useful). I know everyone likes to believe that they're in special forces, the best surgeons in the world, can hit an apple three hundred kilometres away with an arrow (well you get the picture) - however, most people aren't and even if you're good at one thing you probably suck at something else that could be vital for survival. That being said, of course there will be groups of people who wouldn't be friendly at all, just take a look around in this world of ours and it's not that hard to see that of course these groups of people will exist, because they exist even now. The only thing that's stopping them now is the fact that there is a society and within that society we have laws, rules and regulations. But someone just laying in a window or on top of a building waiting for someone to shoot? No, it doesn't sound very likely. Just as KOS is probably not very likely either, not without a dialogue first.

    Improved Medical System

i like the idea of broken arms and being able to carry players, however i think it should only be added in after vehicles, so you can carry your buddy 30m to the car, park the car outside a city, go loot the hospital and bring him the gear rather than carry him 800m to the nearest place to get morphine
  5. big props to you guys , you helped me yesterday .good luck with your work. I hope dean will donate you some vehicles.

    [SA] Vehicle suggestions

If we get helicopters they need ToH controls, so hardly anybody is able to understand or fly them without having a proper (REAL) understanding of aircraft start and take off functions. Ascent and descent. For cars I would like to see manual gearboxes, a more rugged and off roady selection. All cars should be very beat up looking, very customisable with the rare newer model which would have advantages like better handing, better brakes. Maybe less top speed? When I drive my mothers car I can feel the difference in handling and acceleration. I would like the same sort of thing, in dayZ where everything seems equally as slow to gain speed or equally as difficult to control on corners. I wanna see a range from military and civilian vehicles with civilian usually being more damaged and rarer. Bicycles, mopeds, motorbikes, quad bikes, small cars, medium cars, large cars, SUVs, Utes, tow trucks, frate trucks, infantry trucks. Microlights, light planes, helicopters. All helicopters hard to fly, all aircraft require aircraft fuel. Crashed tanker trucks for a chance to grab some fuel, who knows which kind :) maybe order clipboard in driver cabin? Burn a cap full to test? Ofcourse depth and variety should be added over time, I'm happy with a bicycle for a month and an ugly sedan for another two after a year and a half of waiting.

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

If you guys seriously have trouble driving vehicles in Arma/DayZ and require TPV, maybe you shouldn't fly 100km/h down a tight turn. There's a start.

having more than one character. thoughts?

No. It would cause more problems than it would fix. Dayz has always been about having to put in effort to get where you want to go. You decided to play every day so you need to decide whether or not a twenty minute walk is worth playing with your friends when they eventually log in. We will have vehicles eventually so this really is just a temporary problem anyway. The problems that arise with multiple characters is that it completely changes the game for trolls. Lets say you and two friends are at NWAF when a larger group of people roll in. What happens if you each had four different characters, all geared and all in different places around the airfield? What's to keep you from logging out once you know where they are, logging back in and killing one or two from a distance. Logging in on another guy to kill a few more then back to your original character? Making choices that keep you from dying is a major part of the idea behind Dayz. What happens to that idea when people start making characters that don't ever move and exist only to hold a supplies? Like a tent that can't be raided it would break a huge part of the game.

I think the map is too small for cars. Am I the only one

This is how I best see it: Cars should be EVERYWHERE and all of them should be REPAIRABLE. But most of them aren't going to be worth the time to try to fix them, while on the other hand you try to find a car that has less broken parts then another car you seen awhile back. You're still looking for a car to repair, but you're going to look for a car that is going to be repaired faster than all of the other cars you've seen. As for helicopters, I would want civilian helicopters/hospital helicopters etc You know how they have a set loot limit for all the servers ? ex; 1500 M4's across all of the servers? Why can't they do that with vehicles? lets say 100 helicopters across all of the servers, so you'd be lucky to find one, and if you crash it, you have a highly unlikely chance of it spawning again on your server. I would also like the ability to lock cars, but be able to smash the windows with a crowbar and read a in-game book on how to hotwire a car and hot wire it after let's say a couple of minutes? Just shooting ideas here :P
  13. The east is quite important for vehicles. Solnichny, Dolina Factory, Berezino Harbour. I really hope they do something creative with that wrecked car lot as well.

The only solution for DayZ: Simulation.

About vehicles. I prefer if most reliable vehicles in Chernarus remain the diesel trucks. Big chunky soviet (mostly) trucks. Also i hope, that overall speed of vehicles would be lowered. What about a helicopter, my humbling opinion is, that they don't fit good in postapocalyptic Cherno. AN-2, Pilatus Porter PC-6 or a very light aircraft seems more logical. Especially with repair options. A light aircraft ..

    [SA] Vehicle suggestions

I know this topic has been done before, but I havn't seen one since standalone came out. So here's the question; what vehicles vould you like to see in SA. My personal list: -Bicycles (never understood the alure until I tried one. I sometimes just went on long rides to look at the scenery) Motorcycles/ATV's -Dirt Bikes (Paniers could be an optional attachment to get cargo space) -ATV's (with cargo rack and/or paniers for storage, and assuming they fix the abysmal off road handling they had in the mod) -Old moto (from Operation Arrowhead, or maybe a Ural motorcycle. Again with paniers and possibly a side car.) Cars/Trucks: I like the list I've seen so far of Ambulances, police cars, fire trucks (particularly if they come with a turret style fire hose), white off-road pickup (one of my favorites, aside from the glaring white color you can see from a mile off. So more color variety would be nice, and a few variants already exist in ArmA.) and hummers (which I really can't get excited about, but whatever.) In the case of ambulances and police cars, having predetermined loot tables for the trunk would also make sense. In addition I also would like to see; -UAZ (My absolute favorite car for its balance of speed and maneuverability, as well as its ample space for gear and passengers.) -Sedans (bring back the hatchbach, GAZ, etc. They weren't the best, but they got the job done. and it stands to reason that they would be the most common.) -Bettie Vans (they're delightfuly quirky, and there's nothing like seeing a group of hardened, camo clad survivors armed to the teeth rolling around in one.) -Ural truck (The holy grail of cars for large groups) -The Off-road (land-cruiser) truck (its right hand drive, burly, and I'll admit a soft spot for them, as it was my first car ever. Still love the Brown Beast.) Aircraft: Let me start by saying that I've had every aircraft in the mod. Choppers are fun (i particularly like the little bird with bench seats) but IMO they kill the game. They make it too easy to get from place to place, and door guns are way OP. From an immersion/realism standpoint they ruin it for me. Planes are, relatively speaking, fairly intuitive to fly. Helicopters are incredibly complex machines that anyone without training would more than likely crash outright. Which is funny, because planes in the mod (and most games) take more skill to fly and particularly to land, as well as requiring more careful selection of landing sites than helicopters. If heli's ever make it into standalone, I can live with that, but if they are left out I'd be much happier. So, my list; -AN-2 colt (I love this plane, even when I had a huey, I would usually take my colt, which I dubbed the Jade Valkyrie) -USEC Maul (A great little plane for small groups, easy to land off runway, and plenty quick.) -Amphibious plane (I have an addon for arma which adds Cessna Skywagons of many varieties, including a few with pontoons. They seat about 4, and the ability to land on solid ground and water would be a real game changer without breaking anything. Though with the addon trying to land on lakes caused the plane to explode, so that could be a good thing to fix.) -Gyrocopter or Ultralight (surprisingly common actually. Could be a single or double seater, slow and with liimited cargo space, but an option for solo or small groups.) While we're on the subject of aircraft; -Paracutes (would take the place of a backpack, limiting how much gear you could carry, and may fail if damaged. Would also need to be repacked after landing.) And lastly, Boats: Aside from how painfully slow they were, and the lack of anywhere to go in them, I like that boats were in the mod. With Skalisky now having loot and viability as a camp location and the prospect of Utes and fishing being added, boats make more sense than ever. But really, more speed, please. -Fishing boat (From the mod. For larger groups who haven't found a plane yet) -Small Boat (Again from the mod. For smaller groups) -Row boat (Small and fairly slow, but better than swimming. Could seat 4-6.) -Sailboat (I'm hesitant on this one, as I'm not sure how far the mechanics could go in the games engine. I'm thinking along the lines of a little daysailer which could seat 4-6 passengers, and function off a set wind direction, lets say from the south. It would require tacking to go some places, but you could do it quietly. I recognize that this suggestion comes from my opinion that there should be some stuff to do in the game that, while it may not be the most effective method, may be the best or only method at the time. As I said, I used to go on bike rides to enjoy the scenery. It's those peaceful little breaks you get sometimes in the struggle to survive -a campfire converstion with friends, a quick rest at the top of a hill with a great view of the sunset, or a convoy rolling back into the camp you've spent so long building, after a succesful outing- that really bring this game to life for me though. I could see adding a pleasant sail down the coast or to an island to that list.) Anyway, those are my thoughts so far. And sorry for the terrible spelling/grammar, it's late and I just don't care. Any other suggestions for vehicles, their associated attachments and/or mechanics?

    Base building

I would be happy with just tents and vehicles to store gear and move around, before they work on base building.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113953

Once loot and zombies are throughoutly debugged and the servers are optimized, they will probably start looking into the crafting system and effects of damaged gear. Then they might consider adding vehicles. My absolutely random guess is no earlier than summer.

    Somethings need to change

you want to get down to brass tax? In an end of the world situation the greatest threat will always be other humans. BUT like stated they will also be the biggest asset. Remaining humans after the dust settles will try to build a new community to assure security and mutual survival. 3 people can build a structure, vehicles, or farm a field while defending each other better then one person can. Right now there are 2 forms of team work team in Dayz...teaming up to hunt for gear and to be a bandit team. The first almost always leads to a bandit group forming. Where is the community aspect? I know it is alpha but all the stuff on the table right now is guns ammo and more guns....oh and some bugs. How about player build safe houses? Trading posts? All of which cant be used if you have to many player kills......ANYTHING to turn the tables from pure ganking to a balance of environmental survive and survival of the "who has the biggest gun and best hiding spot". Even if it were a pure PVP style game it would be a horrible one at that....there is no gun physics. No bullet drop....muzzle flash....no long distance shot sounds. You ever fire a ar-15 in real life? The sound can be heard for miles in open area....the sonic boom from the round alone is enough be heard for miles. And you cant silence an ar-15 unless you use subsonic rounds and even then...you have manually cycle the gun. Yet when I get shot at from across a field all I hear is rounds hitting concrete or windows. Every aspect of the game right now favors the trolls....so as stated SOMETHING need to be put to balance it out....if I wanted to play a FPS then I would go play one. I want a zombie survival game. If this one doesn't change its tune in the coming months..then they will not get another cent from my bank account. I am not going to support something that gives every advantage to trolls and griefers.
  20. I have been playing the dayz standalone for a couple of hours, and I thought that dayz could use some more character. I like the blood stains, there should also be more ruined cars in the road cause the roads look empty at the moment. I loved that building in that town (I forgot what town) that had the wrecked plane crashed into it. I think there should be more of those kinds of things. (I don't mean more crashed planes I mean wrecked stuff or signs that you are in the zombie apocalypse so that you can tell that you are really in the zombie apocalypse) for example there could be some military vehicles blocking the road with road blocks, like as if the military was trying to stop the infection. its these things that make dayz have its own stories. I do know that the game is in early alpha and I understand that I just wanted to give some suggestions. I know you have a lot of posts and if your reading this I greatly appreciate it. :) (I would also like to hear what you think) :D

    Stop changing spawns until....

private hives are bad, please remove them. they ruined the mod, yes they kept it alive, but only through leeching all the life from the actual game, and while i understand that the actual game was very limited in the survival aspects towards the end of it's life, i'm pretty confident that the SA will at least attempt to fully deliver a survival+pvp experience, rather than the "1000 vehicles, spawn with dmr" dogshit you guys want. That's the game they're making, if you don't like it, you bought the wrong game. too bad. you, that is a good idea. they should spread spawns all over the map. it'd be confusing for a new player though lol.
  22. If anyone is looking for a standard Dayz Chernarus Server, then come play on 70.36.96.106:4080. It's a brand new server, so really nobody has played yet. Some features of the server would include extra buildings, weapons and VEHICLES. We have auto-refuel working and no debris, working on adding several more as I type this. Come on over and enjoy some fun. Need some more active players. Have a few but it can take so much more.

    [Suggestion] Vehicles, corpses, clutter

It does sound like a good idea, but aren't the broken civil vehicles containing loot already in the game? :P Or are you talking about something else. Also, there will have to be a lot of optimization if this was to happen, it will get very laggy, but i do like the idea
  24. Hi everyone. I really love the environment of DayZ (and it feels close to me because I am from Czech Republic), but it feels empty. I think it would be really cool to see some broken/crashed military/civil vehicles randomly generated around Chernarus carrying corresponding loot. Maybe with some corpses lying around, so the place would not feel like all the residents suddenly disappeared. However the bloodstains and similar things are really good idea. And some clutter inside buildings would be nice. Quickly packed suitcases, barricaded windows... Things that would tell us this place was once populated and people left in hurry or they stayed to fight. Something like the little "skeleton stories" in Fallout. I know it is impossible to make every building unique, but if loot can appear in like 20 places in one building and there is just a chance it will be there, they could do similar with the clutter. What do you think?

    Getting injured

I think going color blind is a bit outdated. Id rather see a limping or decreased movement. Maybe a blurry, black, and white screen when you are minutes from death. Nothing grinds my gears more than getting nicked by a zed and have to walk around with a colorless atmosphere. Dayz is beautiful but i find myself frustrated trying to enjoy it. If anything i want to see hindered movespeed upon being shot. no sprinting or jumping until you heal up. Shooting people doesn't feel right becasue they go into a crazed sprint and its hard to tell if you hit them. I think they should fall down or start limping depending on the shot. chest and head shots should be kills Anywhere else should bring your character to a stop or at least to a slow jog. EDIT** I havent really seen to much about vehicles. are they planning to add choppers? Are they going to up the vehicle count compared to the mod. IMO vehicles should be everywhere. Gas, batteries, tires and other things should be the tricky part. On average i would like to see a estimated :50-1:20 for your average joe to freshly log on find and fix a car. Just some of my thoughts! Happy zombie killing my friends
