  1. www.warofsurvival.com - 192.99.32.96:2302 - TS: 192.99.32.96 Background information After several weeks of hard work and development, we can finally release the community to the public. We made sure that our servers met the proper requirements and scripts, so that we wouldn't have a bad start to begin with. Thanks to our dedicated administration team we've made it possible to let players enjoy a server with all necessarily script features such as self-bloodbag, tow vehicles, take clothing, spawn bicycle, custom effects, custom base building, user-friendly stats and control panels and a secure donation system. This is just the top of the iceberg as our administration and development team continues to develop the community throughout the upcoming time. Not only that, but also have we got a community website, forum, Teamspeak server and advanced security system. Our community takes the gaming experience as top-priority. Our goal is to make a enjoyable player experience within DayZ Epoch by providing our playerbase quick support and assistance where necessarily, but at the same time developing the scripts and features as advanced as possible. We want players to be able to enjoy the game and play fairly, without having any issues by doing so. Advantage is possible, but not limited. You may donate for items, but by hard work and exploring you may find the same type of item you can donate for. Nothing is limited within our community, and thats our goal. About War of Survival Epoch While the server is opened we remain to develop it continuesly, meaning you will find new updates and script features on a averange basis. We do this to keep the player experience as enjoyable as possible, but also to keep our scripts up-to-date and renew the server with the latest possible script technology. Our server has many features such as advanced base building, custom and extra vehicles / weapons but aswell many scripts which regular Epoch does not provide. These items can be gained by hunting and scanning throughout the map, but also by donating for a particular item or collection of items. We make sure to keep this fair to all players, which means that any item that can be donated for can be gained the regular way by finding those items around the map. The only change is that donating is a quick way of gaining a particular item, and finding them is a lot more difficult and time consuming. The player experience is our most important value and number one priority.     It's not like noone is listening to the community, infact the dev's listen to the community quite a lot and take all the feedback into account. This feedback needs to arrive in appropriate fashion, though. If someone is just ranting about vehicles not taking into account how much work it is to implement the vehicles then I don't consider that appropriate feedback. That's just my oppinion, though. The vehicles are being worked on and rocket himself stated multiple times that the bikes are going to come sooner than anyone would expect them to be. But instead of doing a bit of research and calming down before posting soapmaker jumps on here ranting about bicycles and not realising noone is going against him, but ccalls us all fanboys. I can give you a reliable source for that. My experience. What do you think is needed to bring the bicycles in the game? If they were to add the ARMA 2 bikes they would look like shit, because the textures are old and not designed for DayZ. Imagine the feedback of that. More people would just jump on here complaining about them, just because you wanted to have them ASAP without giving it any thought? How would it work with the Database? It takes a lot of time and work implementing them into the database, so they save their position, respawn if necessary (not used for a while for example). Not only is it necessary to implement a respawn-query, but a damagehandler, a check whether it's being used or not. If you say they needn't be implemented into the DB, what would happen with them? Would they just spawn in the same location, so people would effectively farm them / serverhop to get a bicycle to get up north ASAP? If they wouldn't save to the DB it would destroy the feeling, as it would just be a race to the bicycle, that's all. Who would find the locations? Someone would have to spend hours searching for places where bicycles could spawn. I could go on forever, as you don't seem to be understanding how it works and that it takes longer than 5 minutes to implement bikes. You also don't seem to be understanding, that it's already being worked on, so go out there and acquire a bit of knowledge about the current situation before coming back. TL;DR: Think before posting.

    Day Z map size?

    No specifics, no. For that matter, I'm unsure if they intend to expand the map (i.e. make it larger) or just expand it in terms of depth. But, I've always been of the opinion that to make it a true "MMO" they really need to start looking at procedural maps. But I doubt that'd happen, even in the long-run. I think that Chernarus, as it stands now, could use a modest bump in overall player count. But it ain't as big as people think (in terms of encountering other players). There's currently too big a gap now between encountering TONS of players in cities to encountering NOBODY EVER in the smaller towns. I'd like to be encountering players every now and then when I loot a village. Part of it has to do with how many servers there are, so people can just chill in an unpopulated server to their heart's content. I personally think server counts (not player counts) should be dynamically allocated to suit the population at any given time. No more and no less. I recognize that "rented" servers might take a hit, but that's sort of the idea. I think that as they add more features (vehicles, barricading, and storage) that we'll see people spread out more.

    Why is running so hard for people? We did it all the time in the mod. Spawn on the coast, haul your ass around Cherno/Elektro. Haul your ass north thorugh Starry to NWAF. Haul your ass to Devil's. Haul your ass to NEAF. Do this ad nauseum or until you find tents and can setup a base camp. Then you haul your ass from tents to point of interest then back to tents until your eyes bleed. Plus, even if they add vehicles its not going to be like the mod was with "99 GORRILION VEHICLES HELIS ON EVERY CORNER JETS ON ALL RUNWAYS" it's going to be like in the beginning where they were so damn rare it was easier to walk and even if you saw one fixing it was usually so much work it wasn't even worth it.

    My "love for vehicles" has nothing to do with an "easy mode" for this title - you are far too presumptious. I simply remember fondly the hundreds if not thousands of hours that I and my friends put into the mod. We often found that having a vehicle convoy introduced the tyranny of worrying about fuel stops, jerry cans and ambushes and yes, it would probably have been easier to survive by hiding out in the woods on foot. This is, however beside the point. I shall now flesh out my response a little. When vehicles are re-introduced I would like sprint distance reduced to 100M/200M (we are not supposed to be trained military personnel/fitness fanatics) with a massively increased aim-shake until the out-of-breath condition has eased. I would also like to see jogging slowed to a more reasonable speed and, depending on distance travelled (circa 2KM/3KM) the complete inability to do anything other than collapse in an exhausted heap. I want to see walking become the norm as it is in real life, with a speed set at 4.5KMH to 5.5KMH depending on what's underfoot (easily done in the Arma engine). I also want to see speed modifiers based on clothing condition (try running in wet shoes/jeans). Until vehicles are re-introduced the current marathon runner survivor is the obvious solution.

    Why do people only think about how it would be easier to play a game? I, honestly, don't share the love for vehicles. I find it much more pleasant to walk through the beautiful countryside, see all the stuff myself and make this whole another adventure. It is so short-sighted to think vehicles will be Gods gift. You are more likely survive on foot than on bicycle. Cars are still far away, shouldn't even think about that yet.

    ArmA had working vehicle system. DayZ does not. What is there to not understand? I don't try to be rude - speak up but there is no point of making such suggestions. These can't be added if there is no working vehicle system and adding another half-assed thing into the game may make you happier because you can get faster to NW airfield to loot all the barracks but once you get killed by 300 bugs and glitches that it comes with, you think differently. Also, "I want vehicles because running to [enter popular loot spawn] takes too long and I don't want to waste my time running" is not feedback. Vehicles will be added when they are ready for it. Meanwhile, you could focus on giving real feedback like "loot can't be picked up in any way" or "walking upstairs throws you into space and kills you". That would be feedback aka something is wrong and should be fixed. The time it gets fixed is not what we can affect though unless you want to put yourself up for a job to dev team.

    I'm with you soapmak3r. Its up to the community to voice their opinion. The devs have to listen to feedback from us. They have specifically stated they listen to our feedback. If some people feel that vehicles need to be added asap in order to facilitate a more enjoyable gaming session than thats your right to speak up. Vehicles were in the mod and didnt destabilize gameplay balance then and wont now. If you feel your voice is being oppressed by close minded fanboys who want to play semantical games and offer vile generic pavlovian response, you should tell them how you feel. You're sick of it. I'm sick of it. Deal with OUR opinions, cause we have to put up with yours.

    The uh... reason why they can't do this... is made apparent by the topic itself. Let me rephrase it: Put [vehicles] [into] the game until you have the new vehicle system ready. ^^ that doesn't make a lot of sense in addition i notice a lot of low end computer users complaining about low fps in cities, so crashing an entire server by flying your bike through cherno seems likely at this point.

  14. A few questions: - How big will the survival be? We mostly saw guns and vehicles in videos. Will there be some little more advanced health system? Sickness? Something like that would be cool. - Will you be able to build stuff? Its a big part of Minecraft and I think it would be a shame if you wouldnt use the possibilities. I would love to barricade existing buildings and also build some new stuff. Another things is farming, its already in Minecraft so would be awesome if its possible in your mod too. - Some new animals and maybe some AI for it? Would be awesome if hunting animals would be possible and not too easy.

    If it causes any additional bugs then I rather vote no. More important things are to be done. Vehicles don't affect gameplay all that much besides you will be able to move faster. This map isn't so big, running is fine and safer anyway.

  18. Well, the devs already said in the 0.42 changelog: "Pending: More Robust Spawn System", so the Z spawning is going to be change later. What about doing it this way: - The speed of a Zed should be set randomly between Walking and Sprinting when they spawn - Zeds should alert nearby zombies, when they see a survivor - Have the Cities/Airfields crowded (They increased it a bit in the 0.42, but still far too rare for my taste :) - Add stamina when vehicles are implemented (So you cant run away forever, but still it wont take you an 1 hour from city to city) Requirement for all this would be, that they cant clip through walls/fences/doors, so you can hide anywhere
  19. Respawn zombies around the town they spawned at or are killed at. When you spawn it, choose a location x00 meters away from the town and out of sight of any players within draw distance. Once spawned, tell the zombie to move towards the location where the previous zombie was killed. What would this do for the player? Zombie counts are constant, but you'd be able to clear a town and hold it. Zombies would come in from the forest to replace the old ones. There wouldn't be any gimmicky popping into creation nonsense, no one would have zombies spawn on top of them. Players could fortify an area and not have to worry about zombies spawning inside, they'd only have to worry about securing a wall which would give them something to do. Respawn loot in a similar manner as the zombies. Every A-B minutes, spawn enough items into the server to bring the number of items in the server (in inventories, on the ground, etc) up to a certain cap. Spawn the items in random buildings across the map that are outside of render distance of the players. What would this do for the player? You can guarantee a fairly constant amount of loot on a server, somewhere. Areas like major cities would be generally scavenged clean, meaning players need to move around the map to find loot. You wouldn't often find stuff in major cities, so the smaller towns get a larger appeal. Server hopping would be inefficient, because anywhere high-value loot spawns is likely to already be empty. It would facilitate the idea that the grass is always greener somewhere else. If a group of people want to fortify a town, they could erect walls and watchtowers and so on and clear out all of the zombies. However, this town wouldn't suddenly become some sort of loot haven. Loot wouldn't respawn there often/at all since there would often be players nearby. Players would have to venture out to get more supplies/hunt for food. This system is also not very exploitable. Since loot respawns somewhere away from any player, there's no way to tell on a 15km x 15km map where stuff respawns. You and your buddies might have a general understanding that you haven't been to Zelenogorsk recently so there might be stuff there, but it's not a guarantee. You can apply this to spawns for just about anything. Players, vehicles, animals, loot, zombies, whatever. When that item is destroyed, removed, or killed, find somewhere far away to add in a replacement. Spawns would be generally not near other players, or weighted towards that (they're not still using that shitty lottery-style weighted selection algorithm, are they?). Wildlife could be thinned out in high-traffic areas or over-hunted. You could always assume that there's a vehicle somewhere over that hill somewhere to replace your wrecked car. This also helps with the current issue with respawning loot, which (last I heard) was that they were trying to spawn it all at once on the server. Don't respawn anything until you need to.

    You have some serious issues. Why don't you wait until the game is released and you can make your Arma 2.5 game from modding instead of this stupid campaign you seem to have going on trying to have zombies removed and military vehicles and bases put in everywhere
  21. So I was thinking about how horses would work as a possible means of transportation. Vehicles such as cars and what not will require fuel and repairs im assuming, like the did in the mod. Horses could require a form of this as well in the shape of food, water and possible injuries that if sever enough would kill or force you to kill the horse such as legs getting broken or being shot. This would give people an alternative means of transportation that would have its own pros and cons just like vehicles. While riding a horse you are potentially easier to shoot and you run the risk of having the horse shot out from underneath you and so on. However they would be better for navigating tougher terrain such as forests where most motor vehicles wont fit, they would be quieter since you could make them walk and so on and you could build saddle bags for a bit of extra storage, but the bags could be shot potentially ruining what you have in them. You could tie them to posts or trees while you loot and so forth. They could be stolen but unlike a car could make alot of noise if someone other than their normal rider tries to mount them. They of course would be much slower than motor vehicles, which would still make cars and what not the fastest way for getting around. The horses could be found on farms or potentially roaming around after they got loose. Just my thought, to me horses seem like they would fit perfectly in a survival game Thoughts guys?

    http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ What is next for the future? Once the current build is stabilized we want to finish up on our “survival” push for the month. This means hunting and cooking finished and process on our “survival combat” which involves the bow and arrow, crossbow, improvised weapons, and thrown items. In the more distant future we’re already planning for vehicles and barricading systems. --- Bikes on the other hand are coming much sooner than 'vehicles' are.
