    Ok not that it overly matters to me in the scope of playing the game but i would say 3 things tell me it is in the relatively early stages after outbreak . 1 The rundown condition of buildings, vehicles rusting in streets etc etc bare very little difference to the condition cherno was portrayed as in arma 2 ya know when there hadnt been a apoc merely civil war and the devs have said it follows after the arma 2 time line. 2 those things running around trying to eat you are not classic undead zombies but infected people. How long do you think these infected people will survive for?? the disease doesnt make them immune to starvation dehydration freezing to death etc etc and once the easy caught food is gone trying to run down animals for food would have them expire very very quickly ( both from hunger thirst and the ill effects of the disease killing them.. 3 DayZ the Z does not mean Zombie but Zero But hey at the end of the day either way it doesnt change how the game is being played with what has been given to us in game.

    well that would be a bit selfish and sad, if there are only 3 vehicles per server and you want one (or more) to vanish from the server when you log off cause you think you own it...

    Most likely not but other vehicles will be added, cars, bikes, scooters, hopefully some tractors but as I stated above by this point the mechanics should be in for vehicle repair so you won't just find one and hop in and go vroom.

    On experimental last week there was 20 vehicles per server. Not sure if this has changed. Found a five or six. Had two at one time for a short while.

    I hate lame databases that list stuff .....wait I'll take that back. DayZ needs to approach how, where and when items spawn a little more intuitively. Can we please have a game where we can sometimes be a little surprised at what we find and where? Can we not have such things as lame ass heli crash site guides due to the fact that we have predetermined crash sites in the first place? Can we please have a little unpredictability to keep this epic game fresh? This game is on the cutting edge of social interaction and is testimony to certain traits in human behavior. it is what we make it.....to a point. The DayZ team have a golden opportunity here to make or break this genre. To look beyond the limitations of the old mod and come up with something truly special. Unfortunately, I see a lot of 're-inventing the wheel' here and copying old routines and standards. A little off topic but a good example is the old Ambient Sound loop we constantly hear in game. I would really hope that things like this are replaced with a more basic 'base' sound loop that carries no random clanging sounds or odd creaks, can openning etc that do not actually occur. This makes no sense!!! The engine is more than capable of creating its own sound based on actual in-game events. Back to the topic. The current loot table can and will be mapped. As it changes people will adjust their databases and provide the info to the public. We now have rudimentary vehicles in game. An already we have a map on where they spawn. Why? I mean I understand why the public sector make these locations public but what about a more dynamic system that calculates vehicle spawn positions from an array of 1000 (rather than 20) possible spawn positions across the map? At least 100 to start with. Why should I know *(after a server restart) where to go to grab a vehicle - or what route to run to find a heli crash - or whatever else DayZ has hard wired into its static code.??!?!?? Deep breath....! I'm aware things may or may not change as we go along. I am fully aware of what Alpha means. But I'm seeing a certain trend of old processes being held onto and engraved in stone. ....and not looking outside the square. Can we please make DayZ a little less predictable and more of an adventure for new and old players alike ? Please ?

  7. For the last couple of weeks the AI bandits have been disappearing from the missions. Sometimes instantly, sometimes after between 5 to 20 minutes. The mission circles (red and blue), gear boxes, vehicles, etc remain. If there are 2 missions running the Ai from both will disappear simultaneously. The car engines that the Ai were driving continue running but all Ai just vanish. This began recently while the server was still 1.8.2 and continues now after updating to 1.8.3

    Haha, didn't know that. They have a ton of things to fix with the new vehicles I see. :D I should go find one, would love to see the new submarine they call a "land vehicle". Even tough people say that the updates are slow and "WHERE ARE THE WEHICLES!?!" stuff, I think that they are going a bit fast. I'd like to see it get done faster, but the faster Bohemia finishes it, the less stuff will be added. Good things take time. The engine has its limitations. It's amazing what they have gotten out of Arma2 engine, and I'm excited on what they get out of it next.

    Thank you for your answer. Well those 50.cal sniper rifles very useful in the ambushes against vehicles and to take down aircrafts, also if they were very rare, it wouldn't be so OP, don't you think? :/ Well I used to have the option 'upgrade' even when I hadn't all the stuff I needed to upgrade the stash. But now? I have the crate, woods and Etool in my inventory and I don't even have the option to upgrade it anymore.. maybe it's bugged?

  12. November and December are busy months for DayZ. Coming up next week we're aiming for the 0.51 update to stable branch, we have the conclusion of our Private Shard contest, and of course.. the initial implementation (at a very basic level) of wheeled vehicles into stable branch. It is important that when hunting for/fueling/driving these new base model V3S trucks across Chernarus you understand the limits, base functionality, and placeholder status of much associated at this time with the vehicle. - The V3S is not tied to the persistence system at this time, so when it restarts - it respawns. - Yes, worry not vehicles will save, just not at this time. - Much of the animations are in progress, we hope to greatly improve the visual immersion versus legacy animations when mounting and exiting - The interior of the cabin is still in progress, what is there currently is placeholder. - Instrumentation will eventually be the primary method for tracking speed, fuel, temperature, etc - New sound effects for the V3S will be recorded, for now we are using legacy placeholder sfx - At this time the bed / cargo / command sections of the V3S and its variants are disabled while we continue work on them - This means the truck has no item storage capacity, and seats two survivors (at this time!) - Very basic functionality is present for vehicle maintenance, this is limited to fuel consumption and refilling. - Further functionality is being worked on - spark plugs, exhaust, radiator, etc This first initial implementation of vehicles in DayZ is aimed at tracking the network impact, physical simulation performance, and gameplay impact of this feature on the title. Be warned, this is the first time stable branch will get its hands on these systems, and there will be bugs. As with all systems, we will be iterating and expanding upon this as we move forward with development of DayZ. Aside from the V3S, 0.51 contains a strong amount of new mechanics, expanded systems, security hotfixes, and as always content. Going into December, we will be observing the impact of this update on stable branch and work on a end of year update for December with 0.52 mid-month. On a more personal note, 0.51 - even with the title as early in development as it is has had a large impact on my playstyles within DayZ. I am very eager to see how survivors adapt and expand upon the world of Chernarus with these changes. In addition I hope to put a special status report up when 0.52 is published to stable branch (sort of a town hall style address) where myself, and the other leads recap the most impactful and persistent bugs in DayZ Early Access, and where we are / what the plans are for them moving into 2015.   13. With the implementation of vehicle(s), I am making this suggestion with the best intentions. I suggest all servers have a fuel source depletion timer/user amount and in turn a craftable means to equip and run vehicles with alternative resources. Example would be if a server is running for 3 weeks, the tax on all the fuel sources i.e. players constantly filling at stations/airfields/industrials would eventually run dry. After the servers main fuel sources have run dry players would be forced to craft alternative resources such as bio mass or vegetable oil to operate vehicles. The duration would last on a month or two month timer so at the end of it the resources would be replenished/reset. When resources run dry vehicles will have a scroll option to convert with a tool box and listed parts. Diesel vehicles will have an option to convert to bio fuel or vegetable oil, gas vehicles will have an option to convert to bio mass. Once using alternative resources, vehicles would run at a slower rate of speed, emit more smoke/soot and have a higher turn around on maintenance. Below listed is the craftable options (subject to change) for alternative resources with crafting list. Bio Mass(wood pellets)- Use an axe to cut wood chips off trees/combine and compress to create wood pellets which take x amount of inventory space as a jerry can. Vegetable Oil- Looted from markets and pubs filled into jerry cans. "Disclaimer"- I know alternate energy including electric cars have been mentioned in the past. This is entirely based on a time/realism outlook for servers on the public hive. Feel free to add, discuss, shoot down or call me stupid. Best Regards, Steak.

    it would be cool to build something similar. Cannon of sorts. of course this thing is stationary and really have one shot. Might add nice elements when we get vehicles/helicopters in. Build one at your base or on the side of the road to snare a moving vehicle or put down a low flying huey. Of course this isnt something easy to make. Ammo for this is rare, or not easily crafted. Cant be loaded up and fit in a backpack. Can be sabotaged and will misfire killing the shooter. ( person using it would have no idea its broken) Can only shoot one time, as it takes some time to load it up again. Basically you are pretty much a bad ass if you build this contraption in the right spot and hit something. Once we have some kind of base building it would be cool to have

    Theres not much to test about anymore, really. Exp showed that the crafting worked and the clipping with other clothing items works fine, same for the actual camouflaging. Way better than having stable ( which is on the same patch for about a month! ) crowded with shooting bushes waiting for vehicles.

    I think your missing the point still which is why I made this post to begin with, there is no amazing 50 years into the future technology, its quite literally 99% of older vehicles can run of alternate fuel sources with minimal to no changes at all to them. Read through the thread before replying it covers people internationally knowing others who are doing this IRL, including myself with an old F-250 diesel truck looking to run it off Bio Diesel.

    Hmm... personally I feel people apply context that wasn't there. Still as we are both singing from the same hymn sheet I'll move on.. :) How do you know? Have you never had a case where you are dead and a bullet sound plays? While that is, of course, no guarantee it was a sniper it's certainly a good indicator. If you've never suffered this, then as I alluded to before, then you've been pretty lucky. DayZ 101, really. The SA has been pretty benign since it's release. The zombies are now getting worthy of avoiding and while KoS merchants always have been and always will be around the addition of vehicles adds a certain pique of panic to those who remember jumping for hedgerows in the mod while a battered old car packed full of bandits rushes past. I've yet to fire a carbine. I've had a few in my inventory since it's addition, and I've had a couple of magazines for it too, I've just never had both at the same time! I would love a Kar98k to be implemented, purely for nostalgia reasons from using them in WW2 FPS games. Despite not being made in 50 odd years, there are still a shit ton of them knocking about.

    This game and trust go good together

    If there is more that one of you I have one word.....OVERWATCH :) This is the one most basic way to have the upper hand, you leave one (or 2) of your group in the treesand then one goes and meets, the one or two that meet don't mention the other member of your group and he reacts to any untoward behaviour. After the meet and greet is out of the way (and this relies on persistence and camps to be more fleshed out) the levels of trust begin. First you play together for a few nights. Then if yyou still trustthem reveal a campsite.....this should not be your main campsite! make it a small one with some medium tier gear in it. If after a week of so they have proved they will share, contribute, and are trustworthy reveal your main camp with top tier loot. Theres always the chance you will get backstabbed and tbh while out and about there isn't a great deal you can do beyond observation/reaction speed to protect yourself from a backstab. And with the game in this stage its a lot more bitter IMO, when camping and basebuilding come it you will be a lot more protected againt it, with a lot more tools to out the backstabbers. But that's the fun of dayz....and where the tension comes from. I could do all my little checks, spend a month developing a player.....only to have them destroy my camp and take my vehicles. And I wouldn't have it any other way :D

    then why are guns and shit so un common? if it happened dayz before, then why is everything just GONE. there would be cars and guns every where, people and zombies too. and finding vehicles without parts is supposed to be how vehicles work when they are eventually added and optimized, and if its the apocalypse, most people would be dead, right? then why is everything so off? its a game, but things just dont add up. but thats why i love this game, it doesnt have official lore for the most part. you make the story up as you go. it could be something different every time, and could even change how you play (if you role play, that is)
