Hello everyone and welcome to AGS. This is our website: http://armageddongameservers.com/forum/m/11359815/viewthread/18674534-overview-features This will be a relatively simple post pertaining to the features of the server and it's overall mindset. First off, this is not an "abundance" server. Things are not particularly cheap and you will have a harder time finding stuff than as you would in other servers. We favor a risk versus reward style of gameplay and hopefully our server resembles that. Now that that is out of the way, I'll list as many of the features of the server as I can. I should also note at some point a changelog will be posted that will list all things that change in our updates. * Server IP: 69.162.71.130:2302 * Teamspeak: armagedd.typefrag.com * Parameters (For those who need it): -mod=@DayzOverwatch;@DayZ_Epoch; * If you use DayZ Launcher, you don't need parameters Features are as follow * Map: Napf * Mod: Overpoch (Epoch + Overwatch) * God-mode Safezones * Coin system with Bank * Currently 24/7 Day, that can be changed due to either in-game voting or player suggestion for a day cycle * We use a modified Wicked AI mission system that allows both Hero missions and Bandit missions * Customized Loot tables that results in military loot being more scarce * Added Overwatch and New weapons to both Traders and Loot tables * Indestructible Cinder Block Bases * Added extra buildings to the map * Gas stations as service points. A more costly, but convenient way to repair and refuel vehicles in the field.* That about sums up out list. If you have any questions or know if I left something out, feel free to join the Teamspeak and let either Raelor or Snow know. Also, everyone group that joins can earn a free safe by following a short guide under "News" on the website!

Okay. Thanks for answering. Currently in the vanilla servers I've been playing on vehicles always spawn with 80% damaged engine, 80% damaged fuel parts, and no tires, and I don't recall having to find jerry cans to get anything up and running other than a helicopter.

The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)
Steak and Potatoes replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Moved to community list of vehicles, not for dev environment thread ;). -
I have a question about the parts necessary to rebuild vehicles. I may be remembering wrong, but I thought that a couple years back when I first started playing on the public hive servers that vehicles spawned with no fuel and 0% health on all items which required you to find an engine, fuel parts, a jerry can, and 4 tires to get it running. Repairing the glass and hull were optional but useful to survive being shot at. Currently, on US434 and other vanilla servers I have played on, vehicles spawn with some fuel in the tank and a working engine and fuel parts (both 80% damaged), requiring only 4 wheels to get the vehicle on the road. Similarly, airplanes spawn with 1/2 or 3/4 full fuel tank, requiring absolutely no work to get in the air. Am I remembering the public hive mechanics wrong, or did things change when all the former public hive servers loaded the private hive defaults. Or is it a step further than that and server admins have tweaked what vehicles spawn with to make it easier?

That is true, very true :) But its like this with every single game being developed, i call it "the greed in gamers" basicly. No matter what you do, its not good enough, it has to be bigger and better and just do more things. Gamers have no clue, as to what they actually want haha. But this is exactly why i keep saying we will get DLC's and expansions, with more content, more features and much more detailed game mechanics. Arma III is a great indicator of this, the expansions and DLC have added both new toys (items, vehicles) and completely rewamped and way more detailed mechanics and functions. Thats also why i say, this talk is kinda "redundant" right now, because DayZ isnt even half way through its development. Basicly we have an empty shell, a chasis if you will, but we still lack any kind of motor, stearing and litteraly almost all other details, that makes it come together to an awsome "car" in the end :) Dont get me wrong, i would LOVE if we have had DayZ based on VBS technology and i would love to have all the things you describe, but thats simply not possible, so Bohemia Interactive have no other choice but to work with what they have, they're version of the RV engine. While its limited in some areas, its far superior in others, i guess thats the tradeoff when it comes to choosing an engine. You cant have it all, and if you could, all games would run on the same engine, basicly hehe. The only way this would be possible, is if they either buy a license for a new and "better" engine (which will have other limitations) or they sit down and start over, which i seriously doubt they will. Or if they keep developing the game for the next 5 years, which IMHO seems like the most plausible option. EDIT: Sorry for the confronting post before by the way, its been a rough day!

Because DayZ is dead. What was fun about the mod? There were TONS of zombies and while they were easy to dispatch in small numbers if you were inside of a building, you could also get cornered in many buildings and be forced to draw a weapon, which would attract more zombies.. Any stray hit from a zombie could cause you to become infected.. Infection meant you needed antibiotics. Antibiotics were extremely rare. There were only a few places you could even find them (namely, hospitals and crash sights, as well as a few spawns which had them VERY rarely.).. Infection meant anybody could die at any time if they were not extremely careful, and since not everybody on the server could always have anti's, people needed other people.. People would betray one another for antibiotics, to extend their own survival if possible.. It was often necessary to give bloodbags.. Low hunger/thirst, a bunch of small hits, a gun fight, a few unfortunate swipes from a zombie... All could leave you blurry and grey scale and reduce your chances for survival.. If you couldn't get enough food to bring your blood levels up high enough, you needed a blood bag.. Blood bags were not extremely rare, but you actually needed other players to give them to you.. This along with infection/anti-biotics forced player interactions. Also, ONLY NWAF had barracks and the best weapons/items in the game ONLY spawned at NWAF.. The best backpacks could only be found at NWAF, Heli crashes, Stary Sobor, Balota, or NEAF.. This forced people away from the coast if they wanted the best gear.. Being forced away from the coast meant finding a vehicle was extremely useful. Vehicles were hard to get.. This gave people objectives.. Made people group up in order to search for tires/engines/fuel tanks/fuel/glass.. Meanwhile trying to keep themselves fed and hydrated and avoid getting cornered by zombies or spotted by bandits.. The end game WAS making it to NWAF, getting geared, finding tents, etc. Nobody trusted bandits to give them blood or antibiotics.. Heroes were, but heroes were often betrayed by survivors.. Survivors could either be your next best friend or turn into your worst enemy.. Bandits would often only hang with other bandits and create small groups to hunt survivors and/or heroes (and/or bandits..) Vehicles were fairly rare, and difficult to maintain.. Same with Heli's.. Which meant groups/players who had those items were targets and/or gained some foothold on the server.. Camps gave people reasons to seek out additional supplies and allowed people to drop off valuables (such as antibiotics and rare guns) so they could go on raids to high population density areas. These things made DayZ fun: Community, player interaction, challenge, rivalries. DayZ SA has very little of any of these. Combine that with rampant hackers, bugs, glitchy PVP, server crashes, client crashes, and you have a game which is frustrating to play while offering very little reward for actually playing. Odds are if you spend 4 hours gearing up, you'll just get shot by a teleporting script kiddie. After 900+ hours of playing StandAlone, I just can't justify it anymore. I tried signing in again tonight, and found it intolerable.. Low FPS, laggy animations/movement, unrewarding/unpredictable PVP.. There's virtually no skill involved in the PVP.. DayZ is basically a grief engine. It attracts people who just want to ruin another persons day. It's become a slow version of Call of Duty.. Everyone Most people just want to run around making other people feel bad, either by KOSing them, torturing them, or taunting/name calling them. Most PVP = People server hop or dupe or hack to get gear, then they run around high pop areas with lots of fresh spawns/low geared players, and shoot them while they can't defend themselves.. Either by sniping them, shooting them in the back, or having a full squad of guys geared with AK's spraying down low-geared players. None of this requires skill.. There's no stats, leaderboards, and no end game, so there's literally no way to know who's good or who's a bad player.. This means there's no incentive to actually get "good" at the game.. Being "good" just means you're more geared or more adept at shooting people in the back, avoiding people, or finding the best sniper spot to pick off a few people, then combat logging before people hunt you down. And don't get me started on the community... Honestly, right up there with World of Warcraft for most psychotic, sociopathic, and narcissistic community on the internet.

I think we've sent them plenty of ideas. Ball is in their court. I personally like the arma squad.xml system which allows clan tags to display on vehicles driven by those with the .xml configured in their profile as well as on certain clothing. This appears for everyone in the server. Only problem there is that it's a combination of resource issue and policing the .xml content that become problems long term. I think the player should have to acquire a specific resource to be able to add the patch or icon to their clothing. It could even be simplified to fewer pixels for performance and be a spray paint recipe that only those given the right info can access. But whatever it is, this indicator needs to be equally visible to enemies as allies and be something that can be stolen from corpses for infiltration.

What are your biggest concerns and fears regarding the near/far future of the game?
Bororm replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
My biggest concern is that with Rocket gone the team might try to curve too many behaviors/take the game in a slightly different enough direction to lose a bit of what made it special. I think there's an underlying current of this already happening with sniping, where they seem to want to regulate it to an unfounded degree by holding off putting in any sniper rifles until the loot economy is done. I don't think it's an inherently bad decision and could turn out alright, as I don't think sniper rifles should be super common, but no other weapons are currently being regulated in the same way so it makes me worry a bit about the motives behind it more than the act itself. I think trying to curve specific behaviors to a high degree just goes against the essence of the game. Why is a 75 round drum mag acceptable but a 10 round sniper rifle isn't? We'll have to wait and see. Aside from that example, talk of dynamic events has me cautiously optimistic. I really don't want to see anything like ai convoys or helicopters flying before they crash because it takes away from the experience of seeing vehicles and knowing they are player driven and all the excitement that comes with that. While various versions of the mod had flying helicopters to shoot down which were some what cool, I felt they really detracted from those moments where you hear a helicopter and know its a player/group and have no idea what their intentions are going to be. Instead it became "heliocopter! oh, it's ai :[" I think that again, this is something Rocket really understood and I just hope the team can continue this line. There's no real indication they will stray from this but it's something I worry about because the majority of people don't put a lot of thought into this sort of thing and just think "it's fun and cool to shoot down helicopters!" and hopefully the team doesn't just concede. Those types of things are my concern more so than bugs and that sorta stuff. The game losing its core elements. So far so good though, and there's a lot of positive talk from the team that makes me think they'll hold true. -
I see in patch notes they changed the amount of vehicles that are spawned. Can anyone shed some light on how much? I kinds gave dayz a break and i was waiting for vehicles.
-
It is 5 vehicles across 70 possible spawnpoints.
-
I thought it was five spawns when it was on experimental branch , and I could have sworn when they pushed to stable they said there was 7 spawns ... So if I am right about that then it's 7 spawns across 70 possible locations as opposed to 5 spawning across 18 different locations ... But maybe it still is five , and now across 70 (as that's what dayztv seems to think on the v3s map, but I swear I saw the up to 7 in the .52 stable patch notes). Regardless , best places to find them are in the west , but best places in the east to find them (which won't be as often as they spawn in the west for some reason) in my opinion are svetlojarsk, krasnostov and staroye ! I've found a v3s at each of these spots at least once in the past 2 weeks . I Honestly can't wait til vehicles persist , that was my favorite feeling in the mod , Having to upkeep a vehicle and basically live out of it because it persisted on server reset :) .

I know it's really late to reply to this but I just came across this post. While I agree that rare top tier gear is a good thing I have to question whether or not you're actually playing on vanilla servers when you make statements like "you are very likely to find M14 aims, m249's, m24 in every airfield visit.", "90% of the people I see above spawn cities has either a DMR or an LMG (or both)", "it seems AK and AKM is rarer than a dmr weapon", "every player has DMR's and LMG's", "Almost everyone is carrying [czech packs], and you can almost expect finding one when you run up north to loot military". These statements simply aren't true. We get pretty bummed out when we lose a DMR or a Czech pack because they're actually pretty difficult to find and you may go a few days, a week, or more without one. We make many airfield visits in which we only find AK variants, Stanag guns, and ammo. We see PLENTY of people inland as far as Stary and NWAF that have non-DMR/LMG weapons on a regular basis. I actually feel the spawn rates for DMRs and czech/coyote packs is really good right now. We'll go days without seeing any of those and are more likely to come across one by killing a bandit that has one of those items on them. It sounds to me like you're playing on servers that have altered the loot tables to make top tier weapons and equipment easier to find if your claims are accurate. As for squads that regularly have high end gear, they have WORKED for that gear. My squad (knights) regularly goes through all the trouble to gather the parts necessary to get a helicopter running so that we can make trips to industrial spots for more parts, military spots for more weapons/backpacks, and heli crash sites to find the top tier stuff. It takes HOURS of gameplay to find and store up a decent amount of high end stuff in stashes and tents. And to be perfectly honest, even with hours of gameplay on a weekly basis, I currently only have ONE spare DMR in a stash and TWO spare M14s. And I pretty much never pass up a DMR/M14 when I come across them. Our squad has been spending a good amount of time running with British assault packs and even the small assault packs as of late as survival ACUs, Czech packs, and coyote packs are hard to come by in 1.8.3. Now, could the game benefit from making some of these items a bit more rare? Maybe. But remember, that will most likely have a much harder hit to the little guy lonewolf than squad players. Squads will still be able to collect top tier gear through manpower, use of vehicles/aircraft, and the ability to win gunfights while the lonewolf survivor will hit the airfield time after time without ever getting a chance to get their hands on that precious DMR. Lastly, I think it's a fallacy that the DMR is the god tier weapon in DayZ mod. The variable scope, detachable magazine, compatibility with NVGs, and semi-auto are great, but it has no zeroing so you have to rely on your ability to memorize mildots to range it, and it becomes really difficult to make a shot past 700m because you have to zoom out to level one to keep using the mildots. The M24 and M40A3, however, can be zeroed. You can get a perfect headshot at 800+ meters with these guns by ranging it and dialing it in. The DMR is a really tempting gun but the bolt action rifles with zeroing are much more effective at making long range kills.

After seeing a lot of talk of no vanilla Taviana servers we went a head and created just that. Using the Epoch Mod as a platform to create a Vanilla Taviana server we have adjusted loot tables, vehicle spawns, nutrition system, the ability to carry weapons on back and various other small details that would make it current to what the vanilla dayz mod is doing. You will not find Traders, Currency, Base Building, 10,0000 Vehicles or anything that relates to the Epoch Mod at all besides the UI and the carry weight system. There is a day and night cycle 3 1/2 hours of day and 2 1/2 hours of night on a 6 hour reboot. Posted below is the IP and Port. You will need Epoch 1.0.5.1 and Taviana 2.0 to run. I suggest using Dayz Launcher as Dayz Commander fails to find new servers consistently. Thanks! IP 162.223.29.138 Port 2462

A map builder where you have the following: Be able to place buildings Be able to have paint brushes (for grass rock etc) Be able to have height brushes Be able to upload and download your map in a dayz workshop on steam Be able to make percentages of for example: vehicles, military loot, civilian loot etc Be able to have a vegation brush or 2 seperate one for grass and one for trees Be able to download 3d models for your map building in the Workshop Be able to have a spawnpoint brush you can (up to 9 points) place spawns around your map Probably not doable with arma engine :/

It would also have to slow the player down, and increase stamina lost with the player stamina feature that may be added in the future. I think an easier solution would be having vehicles have storage space for the player to access. Also, people would probably choose speed and faster reaction times over being an easy target. Unless there was a group of players to guard the person punching the wheelbarrow or handcart. Even then the people not punching the cart would have to constantly slow down to stay near the cart, making it a slow crawl to where ever they wish to go.

Taviana 2.0 is the last update and is dead as dead. There have been a lot of people looking for a vanilla Taviana server as of late and there are none. We have taken the Epoch mod shell and updated Taviana to reflex its true vanilla experience while updating things that have been lacking from the original vanilla Taviana as best we could, new loot tables, ability to carry weapon in hand and on back, nutrition system, vehicle spawns and other small features that bring it up to date with the current dayz mod. Things you will not find, traders, currency, 100000 vehicles, base building, OP military vehicles or anything related to the Epoch mod in that sense. Hopefully this gains enough support to see it become a full populated server.

New DayZ Epoch server |TANKS|HELIS|CRAFT&BUILD|

I invite you on new DayZ Epoch server. What is on our server? - building and crafting - 3 missions at one time (including one battlefield level) - creating groups using radio - you can find militarized vehicles - best vehicles (ex. abrams) you can get by ending most difficult mission - undestroyable base - safe-zone areas - tow & lift systems - free autorefuel and autorepair We also have teamspeak 3 server. IP: bonzaii.eu -
Agreed, it's things like this that give a "wow" factor for new players and even veterans alike. Take the beached cargo ship on Rify for example. I also thought about what would be the case if a light aircraft crashed into a town. Perhaps a separate building model could be made where it shows a plane crashed into the roof of a supermarket. The same applies for ground vehicles, like finding a bus that had lost control and crashed into a building.

Welcome to Dayz Epoch, hosted by Exposed Gaming. We are dedicated to providing an enjoyable atmosphere for players of all types to have fun. Everyone is welcome to come and join us! Build a base! Visit the added attractions! We have added several new sites, located on the map, for you to explore and loot. Beware, some of them are crawling with AI, either friendly or bandit. Take up one of the missions to kill the AI bandits and recover some great loot! We have the difficulty set to veteran, making gameplay more challenging. 300+ vehicles are scattered around the map, plus you can buy your own at trader cities! Our Chenarus servers are designed to be primarily player vs player (PVP), with limited safe areas around a few traders. The rest of the map is basically anything goes. Also the AI/NPC bandits will roam around, killing anyone they come across. These AI carry some great gear, so hunting season is open year round! These AI are kicked up a notch, so don't be surprised if they take your head off! Our admins are very active on the server and do everything in their power to make sure everyone is having a good time. Several anti-hack programs are running to help prevent hackers from ruining game play. If you suspect someone is cheating, please tell an admin without broadcasting it on the server. We will observe the player in question and determine if a violation has occurred. The admins are not players, so you don't have to worry about unfair advantages. They do provide some extra fun by hosting admin events, such as attack the admin base, treasure hunts, and other fun ways to win some great loot! Our Admins are there to help with glitches, cheaters, and hackers, but if you need help with something else, just ask. They will do what they can, as long as it's fair to everyone. We provide a free Teamspeak server for players, helping you to team up and communicate to give you more depth of play. Several channels are set up so each team can have privacy. Also, admins are available through Teamspeak, so if you have a problem, just pop into the Request Admin channel and let them know. Please note that this channel is for Admins, and players needing Admin help, so we ask you not to sit in the channel if you don't need our help. Please respect the server rules, and the server admins. We do not allow racist, abusive, or foul language. We just want everyone to have fun! No admin abuse, our Admins do not play, they are basicly there to help out. Only time they play is when we hold events. [First suggestion] -> Add a body check option to players that is do-able only when the players get in this position: [http://i.imgur.com/xTxXOYB.jpg]. This could prevent bambis trying to hide a gun in their pants and could add some fun interactions between players. The body check will list all the items the player got in the notification section (just like you got wet etc. it will list every items here). Some items could be still invisible like a very rare foot holster [http://imgur.com/kLdJUMh] or things like that with a percentage chance to be detected of let's say 50% for example. [second Suggestion] -> Normal players shouldn't be able to use the special vehicles only under certain conditions: add some rare forming books on piloting helicoters or tanks or planes findable only in some places. Thoses books will grant you the ability to use thoses vehicles at one condition, you must keep your character alive enough time for them to learn the book. So for example, you obtain the helicopter's training book, you right click on it and press "Start learning". At this moment you will have to wait let's say in real life 3 days before you can use an helicopter, so you must keep your character alive 3 days (even if you don't play dayz it still count as days are passing). So an helicopter pilot will be actually someone with a very valuable life, maybe players won't try to kill them but take them in hostage to avoid precious time lost learning thoses rares books or imagine all the cool situations it could add to the game. If you had for example two books, you can learn only one at a time. Hope you enjoy thoses suggestions, i liked sharing them with you !

More color variations of already in game clothing and a few others
Scarcifer posted a topic in Suggestions
For example/instance; solid pink or blue Balaclava or Boonie hat. other glove color variations like olive green, pink, etc...This should go for a lot of the already in game items, What about a pink .22 or adding a pink stub nosed .38 midnight special to the guns in the game. After vehicles like the v3s are more stable and function-able maybe a mounting system for hi-cap city assault rifles or lmgs(assault weapons sums it up) for better stability. I know its been talked about but i'd like to see it. Also a bi-pod for sniper rifles to go prone for a more stable and accurate shot. Possible a rifle mounted grenade launcher would be sweet as well. Especially after they implement zombie swarms/hordes. Also new animation for just putting a single round into the chamber of your firearm is way beyond needed. I'd like to see some super tall buildings be put in and some kind of rappelling and/or a climbing implement(and/or grappling hooks) as long as it was reasonable and simulated some sort of realistic scale.
