    Hey Malarki, Perhaps we might be of interest? We're a small EU Multi-Gaming community, mostly from the UK. We're looking to expand our community & I hope you'll be interested enough to check us out. We're a friendly, experienced bunch looking to become the top clan on the server we're on. It's very active - called Yorkshire Gamers. We've got an established base with several vehicles & plenty of loot ;) We play several other games: World of Tanks, Warthunder & Heroes & Generals.     I think i do understand the point of alpha. But you dont think once those come in and they dont have a substantial amount of landmass things will get boring for ppl fast? I mean unless they plan on putting maybe 3 or 4 vehicles on the entire server once things are tested.

    I dont think you get the purpose of an Alpha... In the Alpha you test stuff, so 'leaving vehicles out' is out of question.

    It does feel small doesn't it? I would love to see some more expansion on the map in general. You think ppl are complaining about the map now? Wait till ppl are able to go around on vehicles and planes. Ppl will really be complaining about how small the map size is than. Thats honestly why i say they should leave all vehicles out until they have a definitively bigger map size to accommodate vehicle speed.
  5. are there any plans to make the world bigger? I mean right now the world is ok for testing and stuff, but once vehicles come in, The world will feel pretty small (after all the world is about 10km², thats not much once you have a car). One thing I really hope for is less Servers therefore bigger Servers with bigger world and more max. players. Cause the game has really a big potential (ITs not even finished and already kicks alot of former "survival" games asses) but the limit to only a small area could make it dull after some time. A bigger world would give so much more options, places for Survivor camps, Maybe a real big City with Skyscrapers... the possibilities are basicly endless.

    Is character movement too responsive ?

    I posted about this before and nobody really saw a problem with it for some reason. I think it is awful that you can zigzag and move all over so quickly. Hopefully it is just temporary until vehicles are added.

    not sure if its the same on every server but I tend to roam supermarkets and loot all the mountain dew/redbull/orange sodas I can find and sell them easier than finding vehicles/weapons and selling them imo
  13. A little heads up we will be hosting server events over this coming weekend (starting Saturday 24th in the evening , with gold, items (building materials) and vehicles as prizes :) As for now? Come join in the fun, I am constantly adding (or removing if needs be!) to the server based on player feedback. Id love to get more input on how people think the server is working, so far 90% of players have had a great experience and are having a great time! Hope to see you all on!

    A Positive Thought

    It's easy to get sucked into the numerous posts with random people popping in and posting things such as: I haven't played in 3 months, I log back in and... no visible development progress! WTF? I heard bad things from friends about the stability of the game, why would I buy this? Flashlights go through walls at night and it's a big effort to fix in the current engine, this is GAME BREAKING and we must abandon ship! Why are you adding more hats and jackets rather than fixing ladders and zombie pathing? Devs need more pressure. I'm not playing again until the fire ax is un-nerfed (LOL, really???)When I first purchased DayZ Standalone and knew little to nothing about it nor it's paid "early access alpha" (new concept to me) I used to chime in on these sort of posts and stoke the fire. I would do this because I honestly liked the game and concept and was completely appalled that issues as big as zombies walking through floors/walls, random zombie noises, and other just general strange quirks were in the game at all. Then a few times after painstakingly attempting to survive and not knowing the map but figuring inland remote areas were safe, got rather geared up and had enjoyed surviving only to seemingly have my character's gear wiped. Then I also dealt with a few incidents which can only be described as "hackers" somehow taking advantage somehow through speed running, teleporting, item duplication/glitching, etc. Dev blogs happening list frequently during this time (they seemed to taper off after 2013) didn't help and added to the impression that not much was happening. As someone who doesn't visit Reddit I assumed what's relevant to DayZ Standalone would be posted on the DayZ Standalone site/forums (I think most people would expect that). Then I matured and evolved as a player and member of the community. I learned where to look for information. I started talking to people in game more about the game (the ones that weren't KOS). I started searching bugs, adding info, voting, and also reporting a few that weren't already reported. I've seen reports of cool things that are happening with hiring a team to work on zombies and zombie pathing related issues alone, tweaks being made to the engine to help achieve the vision, etc. I'm starting to understand what "early access alpha" means, and even though I paid my dues to play it ($30 or whatever it was) I'm being given an opportunity to lock in that very reasonable price (which I can certainly say at 200+ hours I've gotten my money's worth) and also participate in the development processes through feedback and bug reporting. I think there's something very good here, and it's going to be interesting to have the game experience change every week as incremental fixes or tweaks are made, and as major features such as vehicles are finally introduced. My biggest dream is, out of sheer amusement, being able to handcuff and burlap sack zombies. I know that might be a lot to ask, but after having it done to me a bunch of time if I'm on a low pop server and looking for some short term amusement abusing zombies would certainly be awesome. I'm interested in other's thoughts on this. It's so easy online to get lost in negativity, because after all, people are far quicker to complain about something than to praise something - it's human nature.
  15. I apologize for the trader i should have put incomplete for the trader, and vehicles do spawn there is at least one vehicle in each town people just take them so they are moved up north, im sorry i cant fix the players some are nice but some aren't, and what do you mean by instant death?

    Am I the only one seeing this..... People losing faith in the game

    My thoughts are: glad to see those types of people go. Most players I've run into, and I'm talking 80%-90%, are new to the game. If they don't have enough patience to deal with the current state of progress or have the mental fortitude to research why development has slowed (Dean Hall's reddit reveals why and it's nothing out of this world) then we don't want you hanging around whinging about why you don't have your cookie yet. The community is only going to suffer by having these kind of people. These are the kind of people that will be drawn in by the 500+ vehicles, donator loadout's, self bloodbag/saline etc. Impatience ruins something special like DayZ as patience is the biggest element in this game. DayZ doesn't need 10 million whinging babies turning this forum into a cry fest about how OP a weapon is like COD forums have turned into. COD was a great game once upon a time, but the whinging little kids completely ruined it and now the game is catered to them. Reiterating, glad to see them go. Also, I'm playing some other early-access games and DayZ is moving so much faster than any of the others.

    Keep in mind, by the time multiple vehicles have been added (the prime time to implement this), DayZ will have a whole new rendering/graphic engine with Multi-Core/Hyperthreading support, as well as DX11, x64, and support for other modern technology. FPS shouldn't really be a question by then.

    I'd say don't add PIP due to the simple fact that it impacts FPS. As for the need for PIP on hardcore servers, I doubt we will be driving any heavily armored vehicles, the 1st person camera is more than enough for civilian vehicles.
  20. While this isn't essential and shouldn't be a top priority, I feel that PIP (picture in picture) would be a very nice addition for vehicles, especially on Hardcore servers, since there's no third person, meaning mirrors actually have a use.
  21. this. 1 million times this. the more you try to steer the focus away from gear and the struggle between groups for that eqiupment (vehicles included) the more and more Mod vets will just walk. it will always be about the quest for the top level gear, the risk of loosing gear, and the reward of getting more lootz.

    DayZ Mod 1.8.0.3 Hotfix.

    The vehicles need an overhaul all the configs need stripping and redoing from the ground up. We will be looking at doing this for the next patch after 1.8.1 is out Next version will hold this Crafting Continuation, Start of Basebuilding, Vehicles updates, Weapon updates. These 4 areas will be the main goal for the next patch. (once 1.8.1 is out)
  23. Hello, before I get bashed for a re-post. I have searched this issue for the last 2 hours, yes there are similar threads on this but they are all 12+ months old and have no solution for me. So here is everything that is happening. The problem is I get stuck at the loading screen saying "Requesting Character Data." It seems to be only on my "main" server. I can get on other servers ok (I've only tried one other but joined no problem). I was using withSIX, launching the mod, and then manually joining the server through the in game server list. The only thing I have changed since then is I d/l DayZCommander and d/l the appropriate mods (DayZ and Epoch in my case). All of my friends are on this server and I have multiple military vehicles, an exellent base, all the weapons, ammo and gold I could ask for. Please is there anyone that knows how to fix this? Again it loads through everything then stops dead on Requesting Character Data the number still moves to 120 sits there for a while then sends me back to the lobby and says "Log in Timed out! Disconnect and try again!" Also I am still trying it through withSIX because DayZ commander is saying bad version, failed to connect.     I'd suggest another server, firstly. Epoch is difficult with bandits stealing your stuff every few days. However, if you're set on this server, make a small base out of wood and then go around the map lifting/towing abandoned vehicles. Take them to Stary and sell them. Soon enough, you'll have your plot pole.
