I really like this game, appreciate the work you are doing and fully understand that it is still in alpha stage, but what's up with the vehicles? I was so much happy about cars, but when I first got to drive one (yes it takes so much time assembling one), I was really disapointed by the mechanic... My question is the following : have you ever actually drove a car in real life? Because I have never seen a car (even the worst one) with the horse power of a turtle. The bus, I can more or less understand, but cars or trucks? So please, change that and give us real vehicles that can actually work.

Vehicles (and wheels) – spawn, despawn, persistence

Hi gang, I’m trying to figure out a few things about the vehicles: 1) Do we know how many of them spawn each time, out of each kind if it works like that? 2) I believe that a vehicle which was not manipulated with in a given session, despawns and spawns somewhere else. Is it true? If so, how can we prevented a despawn for sure? Will putting a single random item in the trunk make it stay? 3) Apart from the above, what makes a vehicle despawn? I heard that a car ruined in an accident will despawn, but I saw a crashed Volga which was there for a couple of days. On the other hand, a Volga which I hopelessly drove onto a pile of timber despawned. However, a Lada stuck on a rock stayed there for some time. So what’s the rule for despawn due to damage? 4) For how long the vehicles are persistent? Is it 7 days? 5) I see that all the regular items despawn if manipulated, as usual under CLE. However, wheels persist. My question is: are they persistent like the vehicles/barrels? Or is there any other special rule? If I want a wheel to stay there, is it better to manipulate it or leave it be? Do jerry cans follow any similar special rules? 6) I hid a truck among some trees but upon a restart, the truck now faces North. It is not accessible (although the inventory is) and all the double pristine wheels are ruined. If I chop down the nearby trees and replace the wheels, will I retrieve my vehicle? Or is it lost forever and will despawn soon? Thanks guys and have fun cruisin’ around! -
What would be really nice is that they allow the infected to gather in herds wandering around the map (without running) and that they also attack the fences of the bases (with the damage proportional to the number of infected). Like in "The Walking Dead", more or less, but they should first really make this game engine work in multi core (in theory it already is, but in practice it doesn't work for many... many don't even know it or verify it: they play and that's it), otherwise, given that at least 50/80 and even more infected would be needed, the performance of the servers would be greatly affected, other than vehicles in orbit. But if it worked, it would be a big step forward, in my opinion.

well ill be brief and to the point i have setup a 1.8.6.1 server for myself for fun and all is well except no vehicles are spawning at all i have looked all over using the search function and tried every little fix i could find and to no avail still no vehicles in my object_data , just wondering if someone else has had this issue and has fixed it thanks in advance.

Anyone else having trouble handling the cars? Today I put together two hatchbacks and when I drove them it was like I was driving on ice or snow, I had literally no control of the car whatsoever, just drifting all over. I was able to do some pretty sweet donuts though. Rewind to to this morning, I put one together and it was fine, no steering issues. I managed to make it half way down the coast no problem, till I went a little too fast and crashed into a tree. I looked into some of the bug reports and someone reported they "couldn't turn" in the hatchback and I'm guessing that was similar to what I experienced. Also, I put together a couple buses and couldn't even get them to move off the main street of Electro. It was like the tires were stuck halfway in the map terrain and just spinning. Anyways, I hope whoever stole my one good working hatchback enjoys it. :)Still don't know how I missed my shot... I'll be aiming for center of mass rather than the head next time with my Winchester. Consider yourself lucky!!!!!!

I really need help finding better weapons and the vehicles!

New server I just created, PvP oriented with some cave systems. No traders, no tox zones. Keys for vehicles do spawn in, and key grinders are randomly placed in cities. Look fir garage buildings with then red double doors, or the small shops. Code locks also spawn in. Hoping to get some people to join the server. Vehicles are not more important than bows. Vehicles were not even a thing in the beginning. Back then we had more choice in playstyle it wasnt just run in and get gun and pew pew. Lots of stuff should be behind bows in my oppinion. Vehicles, basebuilding, adding a million other guns and remapping airfields are all great examples of this

Hi! Me and my friends have, since 0.59, found three different vehicles. - Bus - V3S Truck - Offroad Hatchback All of these vehicle seems to be moving very very slow. We've tried so many things but they all can't even make it up a semi-steep angle (Imagine the fields west of the power plant in Elektro). What we've tried - Removing all the wheels and then putting them back on. - Made sure that all wheels, spark/glow plug and the battery is pristine. - Made sure there's fuel in the vehicle. - Made sure we're not trying to speed up on either reverse, neutural, second, third etc. Is there anyone else that knows, or had and fixed, this issue? Thanks in advance.

Experimental (with vehicles) is out for over a week or so. Id like to know what fellow survivors think of new vehicles. How do you like looks of them. How do you like required parts? I personally like new cars, I see Lada Niva every day at least one. They are cheap robust and capable off-road cars used by hunters, foresters and everyone that has to drive off roads. GAZ Volga was most luxurius Soviet car. There are also leaked pics of Škoda 1203 van known from mod. I like how cars look, how many parts they have. I especially like the fact that they now have different wheels (compared to mod where same wheel did fit on ATV and URAL truck). My only complain is size of new cars. I think they should be bigger compared to our carachter, at least 25-30%. This is not topic about vehicle handling, that will change in next updates. Remember V3S that lounched in orbit and things like that.

Title. Managed to fix up a few cars in the latest patch, however, each time I log off for the night, my precious car has done the vanishing act when I log on the following morning. Note that I always removed the battery and spark plug before logging out. Its very possible someone stumbled on my secluded hiding places, however I thought id make this thread just to be safe. Has anyone else had their vehicles disappear on server restart? Cheers.

I found 2 offroad and a sedan hopless bugged in some stones on my server. every attempt to get them down there did not work. Can we destroy them in anyway or make them respawn w/o whiping the sever?

The vehicles still drive like poop. The truck is the worst having to smash through gears to climb a hill, on a steep hill you end up with a yellow engine because you cannot go beyond 1st gear. In previous iterations you could pull away in 2nd and engage 4th and happily drive everywhere like that. This was the best version of the gearbox setup in the truck and I implore you to bring it back. In its current set up your watching the rev counter trying not to go into the red (the xbox triggers used for throttle are not user programmable and are incapable of increasing in increments) and not watching where you are going and the gear ratio is set to high. The second worst vehicle is the Humvee and that auto gearbox with Drive, Neutral and Reverse. Over half the time it refuses to engage drive and when it does it performs poorly in AWD and struggles to climb hills either on road or off. After switching off the truck exhaust fumes continue to pour out of the exhaust pipe, this will stop after a server restart or if the player removes the truck battery and reinserts it. There is no way currently of camouflaging vehicles apart from using a car tent for cars. If memory serves on Skalisty island next door to a Vendors hut inside the castle ruins there's a cammo shelter which has enough capacity to camouflage 3 or 4 car type vehicles its a pity this isn't available as a craftable item using the same dimensions as the Skalisty island version. I have used that cammo shelter many times as a base. OR why not add the cammo net icon like you find on fences and watchtowers and add them to vehicles of course some vehicles are larger than others and require more cammo nets OR much like the improvised shelter using sticks cammo a vehicle its like covering a vehicle with branches and forest matter irl.

What do we need to do in order to use the .58 vehicles? Battery, glow plug, tire?, and what else gas? am i missing anything? I havent really played since .54 so some of this is newer to me. Right now, i am just doing the pvp thing without vehicles. thanks

As we all know DayZ is now a masterpiece with all the bug fixes polishing up a perfect game and the vehicles finally fixed in 1.19. There are a lot of whiny weasels that keep complaining because nothing will ever satisfy them. They just want an excuse to complain because they're upset after I ate them for dinner in Kamyshovo. I would like to celebrate the greatness of DayZ by listing 3 things I think are the best designed parts of the game to commemorate the hard work the DayZ developers have put in year after year after year to bring us far more than our money's worth. List your reasons why DayZ is the perfect game below so we can all appreciate the best game developers in gaming history. With that said, here are my top 3 reasons why DayZ is the best game ever made. 1) The vehicles! They are outstanding and feel like driving real cars with amazing gearbox, removable parts and seamless performance. 2) The cosmetics! You get to dress up and be whoever you want to be in DayZ. There are truly no limits if you are creative. We got these wonderful mime masks so you can spook your victims before you eat them for dinner. 3) The guns! You get a wide selection of all the best military weapons you could hope for. Collect lots of mags and ammo so that you can shoot down a base, assassinate the members and eat them for dinner, and then steal all their precious guns and mags and ammo to do it all over again to the next nerdy clan. It really is a dream come true to run around Kamyshovo like a maniac mowing down fresh spawns with an automatic rifle. Why is DayZ the perfect game for you? PS: Haters can go make their own thread to complain. This thread is for appreciating the relentless work ethic of these fantastic developers and their wonderful engagement with the community, bending over backwards to listen to feedback and respond to questions.

Max Speed - 132 Kmph. 23 sec to 100kmph 5 Seats (We also have 10 Seats version) Gasoline - 42lit (11l for 100km) VAZ - 1111 OKA 4х2 Russian (Soveit) hatch-back vehicle. Max speed - 120Kmph 30 sec to 100Kmph 4 seats Gasoline - 30litres.(4 lit for 100km) ZAZ- 968 Zaporozets Soviet car-legend about it there's a lot of old jokes and stories. Soveit Sport Car (Engine in back((Joke)) Max speed - 100Kmph 40 sec to 100 2-4 seats Gasoline - 40l (12 for 100km) AZLK Moscwich Moscwich - Moskvich, i don't know but that car is indestructible. Max speed - 100 24 sec to 100 4 seats Gasoline 50l (4.5 for 100) KAMAZ (ZAMAK) Soveit truck, lighter than URAL but less passable. Max speed 100 40 sec to 100 3 seats in cabin Gasoline - 250l (30l for 100) GAZ-24 Volga Ambulance Just littel faster than original Day Z Volga. if you have nothing helpful to post then why post? The part of the community, such as people like you who are so condescending towards other people, is very tiring. I have simply asked for a server which has easy access vehicles. If you think that is lazy then good for you, I couldn't care less. I don't have that much time and the game is modded, not sure what the problem is. -

You've only got to move to get loot. Choose a server with high loot and you won't have to move as much. There are plenty of servers that even start you with a full loadout, including food and water, so you won't have to move at all for an hour or two. Unfortunately even vehicles require pressing a button to move.
