Looking good. Bit less sway could be better but that's not bad really. When I can test how much you can counter that sway wih your mouse then I'm more sure about it. When stamina and weight systems comes in the Chernarus will show its true size. This is how persistent objects and vehicles also becomes really handy because you don't want to keep all the stuff with you always.

There is no need to implement anything before anything else. I rather they implement it early and perfect it long before vehicles are added.

As long they implement vehicles first. I can't imagine slow walking or having to take long breaks during my daily NWAF - Electro sprint.

A few days ago, on a whim, I rented a Dayz 1.8.1 server. I was hungering for an original Dayz experience. No building, no traders, just down and dirty Dayz. So, I set this server up. It's mostly vanilla with only a few small changes. Starting loadout includes a Winchester with 45 rounds, a can of food, canteen of water, some medical supplies and that's it. Other than that, there's no mods and no addons. No bandit AI running around, no extra vehicles either. You can't self-blood bag or deploy a bike. There's no auto refuel or repair. So, if you want a change of pace, give the server a shot. I'm not sure if I'll keep it beyond it's first month, but it is a low maintenance server that is fun to go to from time to time. You will need to have your Arma 2 OA updated to the latest Steam version to play on this server. Join it from the in-game server browser. DayzCommander will not show it. -

Right now we have a Overpoch Chernarus Server up with extra additions to the Airfields and also some Military check points. most definetely! even after getting your military loot, survival ist still your prime concern. Your hatchet breaks sometimes when chopping wood, your water bottles break when boiling them and you need to fix them or find new ones. Sometimes you find animals to hunt, but sometimes meat is hard to come by. I havent even seen a tent yet to build a camp for myself and as far as I can tell vehicles are just as rare as sniper rifles. -
Yes this is something I would like to see implemented.! It would be cool if eventually they could make it a bit more immersive, for example the logo that appears on vehicles, that could be done 'in-game' if you found paper, a knife and spraypaint (craft a stencil)... As for the logo on the clothing that could be done if you found a needle and thread? just an idea..

I've been playing DayZ for over a year now, and I really like the sense of adventure, as well as the morale and discipline importance in combat, that no other game has. In what other game will seeing someone freak you out to the point of running kilometers in the opposite direction on the chance they want to kill you, or cause you to foolishly empty your AK drum magazine with fully automatic fire that you can't properly aim? What other game rewards those who cautiously stalk their targets, then kill them without their knowledge, or who calmly wait out the onslaught of an AK drum magazine while they take you out with one Mosin round to the head? But lately, things seem to have gotten worse. Yes, many more goodies have been added to the game, but the gameplay itself has suffered. Before, I would spawn in the South coast, and then move west to the SW airfield to gear myself up. Through hopping, I could get myself fully geared in about an hour. Electro was always a fun place to find a match, and you ALWAYS had to be excited when seeing other people, either for good or bad encounters. Now, things have gone downhill. It started small, with the spawns moving farther North East. Irritating I thought, there were now vastly fewed people around, it was a ghost town in Cherno, Electro, and the SW airfield. Plus, whenever I died, it added an hour to my running time to re-gear. In short, nothing but a pain, and a large decrease in fun. With the latest patch though, things have gotten worse. Much worse. The North East airfield was annihilated. Single door tents had their loot removed. While before the NE airfield was the new Electro, now there is no clear area to meet people. Without the single tents having loot, the SW airfield is now less valuble in comparison to the North West airfield, or other military instalations to gather loot. The entire map is a ghost town. To add insult to injury, I now need to run even LONGER to reach my gearing areas, and with the reduced loot, and an annoying 99 second spawn time that's actually 300 seconds because of the please wait thing, things are just more irritating. On the horizon, I don't see much hope. The devs are on one hand adding features like Heart Attacks in the name of 'realism', but at the same time, there's not a bicycle to be seen, and apparently despite their demands for realism, adding realistic weapons or ammo types is beyond them. Even on the forum, the rabid anti-fun crowd are demanding reduced movement speeds. Despite the fact the game has no vehicles yet. It seems like the devs are agreeing with them. Still no vehicles to be seen. Overall, despite some nice weapons and such, the fun in the game has gone down sharply. It was already hiking simulator, but this is completely absurd and unacceptable. If it continues, I don't know how much longer I can play. So I ask you forum, what do you think of the ever increasing running time? The incredibly annoying spawn locations?

Epoch is fine. The issues most people claim to have with Epoch relate to what happens to Epoch when the host adds in all the extra crap they and their players want to add in. People have problems with: Just Trading For Whatever You need: Thing is, vanilla Epoch doesn't restock the traders. That means that other than a couple initial being available the Traders won't have anything people didn't find and trade in for Gold. If you don't run a script to refill them people can't have an endless supply of ammo/food/vehicles from them. If you make certain helicopters spawn rarely and don't put any in the traders then someone will have to find one and sell it before anyone can buy one. An active host can actually go in and monitor the stock on traders and alter it if he knows anything about SQL. Safe Zones: Don't exist in vanilla Epoch. There if you go to a trader city you should probably have a friend. You can be shot very easily while in the animation for doing the trade and to trade something like guns(which you can get an okay amount for) you have to have the gun in your hands, meaning you are basically left with a pistol if ambushed. My friend and I used to ONLY go to traders together, one would be guard and the other actually trade. Locked Vehicles:Yes, you can lock your vehicles... and then someone can shoot them, steal the tires off them, or even steal them if they find a rare drop Lockpick Kit. Sure you can't just run up and hop in someone's chopper when the walk away from it, but you can make it so they can't use it, or kill them and steal it, or just steal it... but it takes a bit of time. Vehicles are NOT safe. I have screwed with so many I can't even count anymore. Lots of Loot: Only because hosts add in extra buildings or futz with the loot tables. Rare guns are still rare if they don't up the drop rate and/or stock the traders. The issue is the hosts give in to players and soon everyone is running around with "rare" guns. Same thing with vehicles. Safes: This is probably the only legitimate claim people have. It's the conundrum. You need a LOT of rare items to build a base unless hosts grant you "starter" packages or put in easy missions with lots of building supplies then building something like a base out of Cinder and Metal(wood can be hacked open pretty quick) means stockpiling lots of hard to find items. You need 7 cinder and 2 mortar to make 1 wall and a small base able to protect one car takes about 8 walls so, 56 Cinder and 16 Mortar. On top of that you will need about 4 metal floors which means 64 tank traps and 128 scrap metal. So... how many Tank Traps do you run into and carry around in a daily session? There is also realistic weight so hauling around just 2 Cinderblock will force you to stop and rest about every 30 meters or risk passing out. So some way to protect things you are stockpiling is needed, but I have seen groups with 20-30 safes with spreadsheets and that is just stupid. I've considered setting up an Epoch server with no Safes and upping the spawn rate of lock boxes for zombies. You can't store stupid amounts of items in them and you would have to shoot actual zombies to find them. Basically, Epoch isn't the problem, the problem is all of them are private servers and the people hosting them crank the loot up and the difficulty down. They want people able to make bases that reach to the sky and PVP fests and that is what they set their server up to do. The vanilla ones or ones with a couple simple scripts that don't really affect play are the best ones. -

If you actually think that vehicles are going to be the end all be all of convenience, you're sorrily mistaken. You must find one first, repair it to working order by finding various parts, keep it fuelled up and keep it from being stolen. Just because they ad vehicles does not mean that you will instantly have a means of travel across the map. These people screaming for vehicles really have no clue on how hard it's going be to get one, maintain one and keeping one. OT: I am pretty confident that the SA will not become a game like the others you speak of OP. It is pretty clear by watching Hicks' live streams and Rocket's posts past and present.

When vehicles are added in people are gonna go nuts hopping all over to find one. I would love it if a bit later the devs are like "hey we added in vehicles that you can piece together but totally forgot to spawn in spark plugs" Oh the rivers of tears... epic.

First things first- our characters don't have backgrounds. We can be whatever we fancy. It's called "roleplay", and it's some silly thing people ignore in favor of Berezino deathmatch. If I want to be a random joe, shure! If I want to be trained military personnel, why not! No game mechanic prevents me from doing so. Rare military loot and vehicles should not be a problem of know-how, but of rarity, maintenance, and competition. Yes- you can go to your little shack in the woods, hunt rabbits, and be a peckerwood on your own account. Doesn't mean the game shouldn't also support teamplay! A armed chopper would be incredibly rare, difficult to maintain, and SOUGHT by every other loose organisation. I've said before- factions should develop. After the apocalypse, people would band together, and attempt to control whats left. Why not encourage it, by rewarding sucessful team gameplay with an edge over less competent and organised groups. thats wot i think -
I think the only way to convince people to be friendly and group up is to have a lot of zombies as a major hazard in the game...ATM they are just a nuisance if you find one. If there was hordes of them passing through a town then people might try to help someone in danger of being over run or group up to kill them and then you can loot. The game really is about the pvp at this early stage so just rummaging for supply's to survive is not all that. I know that changes are coming like vehicles but again those will just add more pvp encounters which isn't bad but if you got a car I want it! I hope with the new pathing and barricading systems coming help people want to be friendly. Imagine you come into a town and find a house crawling with zombies and someone is stuck inside. You could create a hole for them to escape. We just need reasons to want to be nice as for now its still kill or be killed. Again not always abad thing I just think the game could be so much more than a open world CoD.

Just wait till vehicles are in and you don't run as fast as you do now. The whine will be epic and you will WANT to see if you can fix up even a crappy ride. I remember my friends and I finding BOTH ATVs on the map and hiding them. I am sure someone dedicated could have hunted them down eventually, but people were under the impression that driving an ATV would kill you nearly every time. I used to tear around the map on it and it was fairly light on gas. Because of that we had them forever and the great thing about that was that if one of us died, "I'll pick you up in about 10 minutes." Epoch now has the Bell helicopters implemented and they are interesting to fly. Something simple like that might be nice as a goal to work towards. If we don't have something to strive for it all becomes a race to gear up, shoot people, and end up back on the coast with nothing else coming into play. -

With the new server rolling and many mods added I realize we need a WIKI if you will to steer new Gamers to help them understand how our server works. Origins houses: All houses must have a Plot Deed to be built. Deeds are available for purchase at both the Hero Vendors and Bandit Vendors. Deeds can also be found in the world, but are very rare. Humanity levels needed: Bandit lvl 1: -3500 Bandit lvl 2: -5000 Bandit lvl 3 : -15000 Hero lvl 1: 3500 Hero lvl 2: 5000 Hero lvl 2 : 15000 Bandit/Hero house must be built in order: Lvl 1 house must be built before a Lvl 2 house Lvl 2 house must be built before a Lvl 3 house Lvl 1 house must be built before a Small Garage Lvl 3 house must be built before a Large Garage You can only build ONE of each building No more. Stronghold needs a Document before building. Documents are available at the Bandit and Hero Vendors, also can be found but are rare. Once a Stronghold has been built you must wait until server restart to access it. REMEMBER THE COMBO GIVEN TO YOU DURING BUILDING PROCESS. Right Click Options: Mozzie, Bike, and Motorcycle can be build via right clicking on the Toolbox. Suicide can be accomplished by right clicking on your sidearm in the gear menu. ONLY WORKS WITH EPOCH SIDEARMS. Self Bloodbag can be used by right clicking on the bloodbag. You have a chance of getting infected by using self bloodbag. %75 chance in the field, %25 chance near a Ambulance, %10 chance in the hospital. Combo Lock Changer: The generate lock code on upgraded block doors, garage doors, wooden doors, lock boxes, safes, can be changed to whatever code you chose. BE WARNED WAIT UNTIL AFTER YOU CHANGE THE CODE BEFORE PLACING ITEMS IN THE GEAR SLOT. Walking Among the Dead: Kill two zombies, gut them, and take their parts. In your gear menu right click on the bag of zombie parts and select "smear guts". This script will let you walk around Zeds without aggroing them. If you fire your rifle or handgun it will temporarily disable this option until you are out of combat. If it starts raining you have 30 seconds to get indoors before the guts are washed away leaving you visible to Zeds. Heli Lifting: Self explanatory Towing: Self explanatory Investigation Menu: This menu can be accessed via your scroll wheel options. You must be with in 5 meters of another player to activate. From this menu you can detain, search, escort, and release other players. Must have a Wire fencing kit in your inventory to detain other players. AI Camps and Missions: There are three missions running at all times within the server. These missions contain numerous AI with loot caches. Check your map often to see where these missions will spawn. THESE AI WILL NOT LEAVE THEIR PREDETERMINED AREAS! Sector B, Ivan's Lab, and Bandit camp are static AI camps that contain a large number of AI and huge loot caches. These areas can be located on the map with a RED MARKER and the name of camp. Be warned these areas are not for the faint of heart. These AI are wicked and ruthless. The pay off worth it if you can defeat these psychopathic bandits! Roaming AI was removed from the server totally, If you want to never see a AI group , no worries you will not. If you have a thing for fighting AI please refer to the above post and look for the Red Markers on the map. With the new server rolling and many mods added I realize we need a WIKI if you will to steer new Gamers to help them understand how our server works. Origins houses: All houses must have a Plot Deed to be built. Deeds are available for purchase at both the Hero Vendors and Bandit Vendors. Deeds can also be found in the world, but are very rare. Humanity levels needed: Bandit lvl 1: -3500 Bandit lvl 2: -5000 Bandit lvl 3 : -15000 Hero lvl 1: 3500 Hero lvl 2: 5000 Hero lvl 2 : 15000 Bandit/Hero house must be built in order: Lvl 1 house must be built before a Lvl 2 house Lvl 2 house must be built before a Lvl 3 house Lvl 1 house must be built before a Small Garage Lvl 3 house must be built before a Large Garage You can only build ONE of each building No more. Stronghold needs a Document before building. Documents are available at the Bandit and Hero Vendors, also can be found but are rare. Once a Stronghold has been built you must wait until server restart to access it. REMEMBER THE COMBO GIVEN TO YOU DURING BUILDING PROCESS. Right Click Options: Mozzie, Bike, and Motorcycle can be build via right clicking on the Toolbox. Suicide can be accomplished by right clicking on your sidearm in the gear menu. ONLY WORKS WITH EPOCH SIDEARMS. Self Bloodbag can be used by right clicking on the bloodbag. You have a chance of getting infected by using self bloodbag. %75 chance in the field, %25 chance near a Ambulance, %10 chance in the hospital. Combo Lock Changer: The generate lock code on upgraded block doors, garage doors, wooden doors, lock boxes, safes, can be changed to whatever code you chose. BE WARNED WAIT UNTIL AFTER YOU CHANGE THE CODE BEFORE PLACING ITEMS IN THE GEAR SLOT. Walking Among the Dead: Kill two zombies, gut them, and take their parts. In your gear menu right click on the bag of zombie parts and select "smear guts". This script will let you walk around Zeds without aggroing them. If you fire your rifle or handgun it will temporarily disable this option until you are out of combat. If it starts raining you have 30 seconds to get indoors before the guts are washed away leaving you visible to Zeds. Heli Lifting: Self explanatory Towing: Self explanatory Investigation Menu: This menu can be accessed via your scroll wheel options. You must be with in 5 meters of another player to activate. From this menu you can detain, search, escort, and release other players. Must have a Wire fencing kit in your inventory to detain other players. AI Camps and Missions: There are three missions running at all times within the server. These missions contain numerous AI with loot caches. Check your map often to see where these missions will spawn. THESE AI WILL NOT LEAVE THEIR PREDETERMINED AREAS! Sector B, Ivan's Lab, and Bandit camp are static AI camps that contain a large number of AI and huge loot caches. These areas can be located on the map with a RED MARKER and the name of camp. Be warned these areas are not for the faint of heart. These AI are wicked and ruthless. The pay off worth it if you can defeat these psychopathic bandits! Roaming AI was removed from the server totally, If you want to never see a AI group , no worries you will not. If you have a thing for fighting AI please refer to the above post and look for the Red Markers on the map. I played heaps of the mod and I find that I now enjoy just running around learning the map. With choppers and cars you usually stick to the roads so you don't ruin your vehicle. (Far to easy to do in the mod.) With choppers you fly from point a to b or go pick up a newly spawned mate and bring them back to your base or their tent. Now I am learning the map on foot and it is completely satisfying. I think if you're going to hand out in one spot the whole time once we do get vehicles you are going to be at a disadvantage. Your car or chopper or bike or horse is going to die. You're going to need to parachute out or dismount or go find a tire or engine and you aren't going to have any idea where you are. Like others said though it sounds like the OP is just in it for the PVP so each to their own but once this games becomes more complete I am going to know soooo much more about the new and existing areas than the rest of my friends who are still playing the mod. A good skill to have.
