Never really liked the concept of fortified bases in the mod, The map as it is is too small for hiding vehicles and there isn't enough empty wilderness left imo.

Camp hunting happened a LOT in the mod. It was the best way to get a heli....why check spawns on a 20+ pop server when its bound to be gone. Its not silly to follow logic and check the viable landing sites in the wilderness. Same for cars, check the wilderness. I can only guess you didn't play much of the mod, if vehicles were abundant clans would repair....drive to wilderness....shoot out tyres....and use it for storage. In the SA they may also be able to spray it green. Wether they are abundant or not within a few days f a server going up you will have much more luck in the woods than in the cities. When you amp hunt you do have specific ares in mind....that clearing is big enough to land in....theres thick trees to hide vehicles there and there...ect cct....its an art not a lottery :) Its not silly for clans to hide there cars in the woods..... Its not silly for a lone wolf to instead of spending a couple of hours looting for parts.....in a place he could be shot...to spend that time checking likely camp sites for a fully repaired vehicle. The risk is much lower and the reward much greater....simple logic ;) Guess wel have to agree to disagree on this one....and wait and see how the devs decide to do it :)

Hey guys, Im not a representative of the TrailerParkBoys, but thats a server I'm playing on and enjoy it. The admins are very active and maintain the server really good. They also try to add and change some gimmicks here and there (but no overload). The server isn't fresh so you will explore some bases but its not like the long time players there are cocky and go on freshspawns, new players. Long story short, here is the IP: 37.59.52.178:3103 Some facts: Server: EU Server Start with: G17, Morphine, Food, Drink and a little bag Missions: AI Mission are available with different difficulty levels. There are different type of missions (Weapons, Munitions, Building Supplys, Vehicles etc.). There are also some static Bandit Checkpoints. Self Bloodbag: Yes Free Refuel: Yes Traders: Yes + Safezone of course There are of course more features but I think they are Epoch Standard. The Admins are friendly and do not abuse their power (as far as I have noticed) Come and join! :P

The mod featured inventory space in vehicles; I'm sure the SA will be the same. And I'd guess they will add loot to working vehicles as well.

Well no car even these days charges via solar power.....they need a lot more energy and have to be plugged into a power source. Then you are back to fuelling a genny to provide electricity for the car. It wont be a clan only item....once they fix it it is ready to go on the map somewhere. So its not about it being hard to fix its about tactics. A lone wolf is much better camp hunting to find that clan camp with 8 cars and both bikes....all fixed and ready to use. Clans would be much more effective hunting the spawns. Making it easy to fix it helps solo player, from a fixing a car found at a spawn point of view ....but also helps the clans to amass stupid sized fleets of cars. In the mod one group could have every single car avalible.....but that's never set in stone....alls it takes is one lucky person to stumble across there camp and its all gone....and that one lucky player can cherry pick. This leads to clan wars over the vehicles, something that would be a none issue with an abundance of cars....it destroys the value of having one. As for fuel, im ok with fuelling stations not running out. Its a gameplay thing, theres always a risk in stopping to fuel up....bandits can camp the stations easily. Fuelling a heli alone was the worst...ya looking at 20-30 mins with 3 20L jerrys. So you broadcast to everyone within 1000m that you are heading for fuel, then have to be exposed running back and forth with the cans. The only tweak I think they need with fuel is to make aviation fuelnly at airfields...upping the risk of operating a heli. Then just have the normal gas stations do car fuel :)

Some time after 2009. Possibly present day or very near future. The Arma 2 campaign takes place in 2009, which forms part of the DayZ backstory. There are old vehicles because Chernarus is a post-Soviet backwater. -
But that's pointlessly difficult though it shouldn't outright be that hard to get or run every car, realistically there'd be tens or even hundreds of working ones that might need a bit of gas and be a bit rusty but they'd work. Out of the 10 vehicles there should be like 3 or 4 that require one thing be it fuel, new tire or whatever it shouldn't be difficult for just one person cars aren't that hard to look after only when something goes wrong does it get complicated but day to day function, no problem. The main issue I see is fuel, how much is there in Chernaus? Is every station full? Half full? Empty? Can they all run out? I realize it doesn't quite fit in with the landscape but it would be cool if cars were sustainable in a realistic way like electric ones with solar panels to charge them up. Otherwise how do they maintain the fuel levels? If it was a persistent thing that would run out well what do you need cars for other than to mess around in? And if it didn't run out, well that's just stupid. Is there any realistic way we could make fuel besides solar cells? Because getting it will be almost impossible, clans will just live at stations and vehicles will be a clan only item which is lame.

No, this isnt an ERMAHGERD AD CARZ PLS thread, so yoi can uncrck those knuckles :p What I mean is that with cars becoming a reality, I had an idea. What if cars spawned with a hidden gun (not all of them though, maybe like 1/10 of all cars) that you had to look for in and out of the car? And we would need shooting from vehicles and being able to shoot inside them as well. Imagine running from infected, throwing yourself in and lovking the doors. Theyre bashing the car, the windshield is cracking. You frantically search, finding nothing. Wait! The glove box! Inside is an old 1911 with a full mag, your saved! I also think that maybe you can drop items in the car. As a seperate inventory space, like car-back seat and car- front seat, and car- glovebox. Youd have to be in the front seat or back seat based on what you were searching. Imagine that you just pissed off a bandit clan. Your running down the road, trying to get away. They come around, and fishtail in front of you and hop out to beat you unconcious. You wake up in the nighttime sitting in the back row of an SUV. Theres two in front, and one next to you. They dont know your awake, but theres no escaoe. You look down in despair. Whats that? A CZ75! Crap, only one round chambered... you put on your seatbelt, and shoot the driver, sending the SUV flying. Everything goes black. You wake up again, and crawl out the wreckage. You look back to see 3 dead bandits being eaten by the infected... Whaddo yall think?

Mod Rocks....id say buy it. Pros for mod Vehicles Decent zombie numbers Most things work well Tonnes of other maps to keep you entertained when bored of Chernarus Cons Much more open to hacking (can be stpped by joining a whitelist server) Mods of mods of mods....be sure to find a true vanilla server if you want something like the SA Glitches that will probs never go away....NEVER DRIVE AN ATV OVER ANY BRIDGE LOL I still go to the mod atm, SA just isn't a ZOMBIE game yet. The survival elements already surpass the mods system....but the mods system still works well. Id recommend vanilla dayz, the other mods seem too over the top. The vehicles are a big selling point, fully repairable with a range of parts that can also be individually damaged. One other thing to remember is that although you would be buying for dayz.....Arma 2 is one hell of a game. The editor will let you create pretty much anything you can dream up. Road race from cherno to NWA with ya friends....no probs. Meatgrinder 200 vs 200 in Eloctro with tanks and jets.....you got it. I think BI realised the potential of the editor with what was done during the A2 years, hence why A3 promotes things other than mill missions. To sum up, a big thumbs up for the mod even though SA is catching up quick, and in some places already overtaking :D -

My point was that that sounds like a lot of effort....but in reality when its practiced its no effort at all. If they just had 1 thing to repair clans would have monopoly on the vehicles. The heli (for me) should be damn hard even for a 4 man group to get going. Don't forget a lot of vehicles would be damaged/destroyed in the panic rioting/looting in the early times of the outbreak. 10ish cars per server, hard to fix and maintain seems like the way forward to me. If they are too abundant/easy to fix then there is no accomplishment in finding....repairing....and reaping the rewards of it. No fear of taking it out of base during peak server pop times, no wanting to log in all the time just to make sure its still there. Also no knowing if you loose it its gonna be a major setback. If they everywhere its just meh...il find anther batt and go pick one out from the next town. Another thing I hope is that one person cant carry all the parts to get a heli going. It was possible in the mod.....all be it a bit of a leaky heli lol. Maybe even go that way for cars aswell. Things like pushbikes the motorbike ect are more of a lone wolf goal, but if you aint got a clan your chances of getting a car are, not bad...but not great. A heli....forget it if you are lone wolf....only way would be to steal a functioning one from a camp :)

Maybe the amount of Vehicles shouln`t be limited. There are no 100% Prestine Vehicles with Gasoline on the map, and all you have to do is repair your car. The amount of effort you need to invest is up to the Dev Team but hopefully they will find a good compromiss between GTA and Walking Simulator. I would leave this game forever if they just let 10 Cars randomly spawn on the map.... and you are not able to get an 11th working even if you have the parts to.

I wasnt going to answer this until i tried it for myself, but yes it is ahead in content. It has actually changed my view on vehicles and such, i actually want vehicles in SA now

from what i have seen, there have been few recommendations/ requests for new grenades, so i thought i would make a thread for it. in any case, my suggestion is the eventual implementation of tear gas or smoke grenades. i think when it detonates, it either makes your screen incredibly blurry, or fills your screen with clouds of grey smoke, within a radius of say 15 to 20 meters, being more effective (more dense smoke) in enclosed areas like buildings.. this would also give a legitimate use to the gas mask, as well as offering another kind of escape weapon for bandit encounters.. also, perhaps with the eventual implementation of vehicles, they could put in colored smoke grenades so as to mark an area.

My thoughts are that if there were only a handful of cars, like ten, I would either never get a chance to get in a car. They would all be squirreled away by more active players and groups. Or I would get killed if I tried to drive it on a medium pop server. Probably even a low pop server. I think some form of transportation should definitely be easier to come by. Plus the whole idea of 'just x amount of cars' is a little bit odd, in that if there were ten vehicle types, there would only be one of each. Not that I know if there's going to be ten types or not. I would think it more logical that vehicle's are ranked according to their usefulness. Large transports, Humvee's, fast trucks, things like those would be at the top, meaning they would be very rare. Whereas bicycles, mopeds, gas-guzzlers, fragile or badly damaged sedans, slow cars and the like would be at the bottom making them more common and accessible. I don't think its such a bad thing if you could play for an hour and have a bicycle you can use, that doesn't detract any from finding a jeep and fixing it up and driving off. I would also mention that it would be interesting if all the vehicles had varying states of decay. Higher tiered ones more likely to be damaged (less hitpoints, need to be repaired) as well as more likely to have missing or damaged parts. Making them more of a chore to get into working order (that's not even to mention finding all the required tools and sticking them in a toolbox). That would in a sense make them "Rarer" because it takes more work to actually get them going, making them all the more of a joy to ride when you finally do. I got a few other ideas worth mentioning for vehicles, like gas tank leaks (which are probably already planned) and different levels of storage, but this probably isn't the thread for that.

Really nice server ! Loot are so quick to spawn, and there is no bases yet, so im free to pick my base location, oh and all them vehicles, that is insane :P yeasterday i found 1 armored suv, m2 humvee and a black hawk :D -

You have a well written post, and I agree with some of your points, however others are a little tenuous in terms of something to complain about. I think this really depends on what games you have played before. The idea of pressing the same key for different actions depending on the context seems bizarre to me, but then I am not really a console gamer. I think if you play any game, expecting it to be the same as another game, which is a different genre, and made by a different developer, you're always going to be disappointed. The game has poor controls and UI, terrible optimisation, average graphics, a bucket load of bugs and non-working features, and little to no actual content. However with all those problems, it is somehow a really fun and additive game to play. If a game can be this fun with so little, then it has huge potential to be a really great game. I've spent 50 bucks on fully released games that have been far less enjoyable. I don't want to mention other games, but I have a whole box full of games that are supposed to be great that I've only ever played once for less than two hours. DayZ however has so many hours invested in it, that I hope my girlfriend never see's my steam account as I'd certainly get a lecture about what I'm doing with my life :P For me, I really hope they work on getting the backend stuff fixed rather than more content. I know vehicles and more guns would be great, but optimising the game to run smoothly, and allowing bigger player counts on the servers would be better. I guess however there is a different skill set between those creating the in-game artwork and features and those that are able to work on the optimisation of the game. -
Vehicles already designed and already being programmed for experimental?? I smell the tons of abandoned stable servers soon :D

This is unnecessary. When vehicles are implemented there will be players flying the rare functioning helicopter around that you can follow and shoot down.

There are currently not very many scripts added at the moment until we hear feedback from what you would like to see. Like the vehicles idea but have all of you noticed that all the vehicles in dayz standalone are wrecked up and broken. They should have the pristine and badly damaged way of grouping. And the vehicle spawns should be random like helicopter crash sites.

Per your previous Posts I understand about Claymores, ^_^ I Was Talking about IED's and Trip Mines More at this point and Yeah I Know you Dont Lose anything if Someone Kills you right off the Bat Save for 69 Seconds Respawn Timer But Still they Could Make Spawning Near Towns/Area's of Good Spawn Not Possible with Mines Regardless I Guess there has to be some way to Remedy it and if People want Mines as a Majority i WIll Still Play the Game but my Vote remains a -1 on tripmines/plantable explosives unless they add other Military Loot in as well to Help Even it rather than Catering one play Style while denying another Campers/Snipers/Spawn Killers are Placated to in whats added a Little To Much While ignoring Other possible Aspects if all we Get are Sniper Rifles and Tripmines to Watch their Backs its Like the Most annoying Parts of BF or COD As Someone Who Hates Playing Sniper and Being Sniped it is Just Less and less Fun And Harder and Harder to Survive the More they Cater to that Crowd only <_< already took Me over a Month of Legitimately Playing Before i Found an AKM anymore with all the rarity and Server Hoppers Getting Prime pick Yet Snipers are Getting it easier and Easier with LRS and Mosins practically Spawning in every other Garage now in the Apocolypse with no Weapons Laws and abandon Military Vehicles/Weapons literally everywhere you cant tell me Survivors would Pass on AR's and repairing Armored Vehicles Purely Because it is "to military" expecialy with Hordes of Zombies that are Faster than you and Can Ruin Kevlar in a Single Smack <_< Anyway I am Still all For adding things :thumbsup: But Don't placate to only the Crown of KOS Sniper Favored Greifing Tools Add things that Cater to other crowds who dont do that Play style what i want is to Simulate the Zombie Apocalypse with every tool at our disposal, Have the Weapons and Gear to play your own way ^_^ Not Be Grieved by the Anti-humanity KOS'ers (or if it is even called KOS if its a Landmine) <_< because i am not a Sniper or KoS'er and they dont want to add For anything else
