  1. Bolded the last bit for emphasis :) On the topic of leadership, I don't really want to lead per-se, and I'm not going to go and declare one. If someone steps up and ends up in a leadership role, I'll pass the ownership of the Steam group (for now I'll just give Kurk and Vul join ownership if possible). I'm also thinking we use officer roles in the group for members, owners for defined leaders (when they arise), and general members for affiliates. For a start grab one of those Urals and drive it to a certain place once a day for a few hours and defend there? Would be good until vehicles get better about sticking around. I agree that it's best to leave leadership fluid for now. As to the initial base: I know you scoffed at using the Balota medical camp as a base, but it's actually a fairly nice setup. On the Pro side, it has triple-gates, no Zeds spawning inside or even being able to get inside, a relatively clear initial area to use as our initial "market" with room to expand as we grow, and four watchtowers. There are clear, flat plains on three sides with a lightly wooded area on a hill to the North, which we could staff with a handful of stealthy sniper-killers if it becomes necessary. Con wise, I know it's near the coast and uncomfortably close to Cherno, but I few well armed guards with nasty attitudes could deter bandits, while newly-spawned Makarov wielders aren't exactly credible threats. Suicidal ghosting with the aforementioned Makarov might be an easy tactic for griefers, though. A big point in our favor for this initial base is that it won't really be that ripe of a target. If we don't initially place any emphasis on long-term storage, then the only thing of value for raiders to try to steal would be the items in the inventories of guards and clients, which guards and clients would all be heavily armed and working together in the face of such a raid, instead of being individually pick-off-able as they normally are. There remains the problem of clients and guards being targeted as they commute, but that's a problem for any set base. Probably the worst thing about a base near the coast is that victorious raiders could camp their fallen comrades' bodies until they jog up from a respawn relatively near by.
  2. dieing in vehicles may be desync. And the hackers are supposed to have been banned for the most part. I still believe it was a bug. I also ran back to my body and it was no longer there. This was on a 25 man server and at night, well hidden in the forest.

    No, it's not selfish to have 6 vehicles to your 12 player squad. That's absolutely fine. I must have misinterpreted the "we" as a lot less players, as in 2 people do not need 5 vehicles. My mistake. It's just that not everyone has a tight knit squad to begin with, and one does not simply walk into clan membership. Maybe the problem lies more with the lack of vehicles around due to the snowball effect of squads finding vehicles, then using the found vehicles to aid their hoarding of more vehicles. Hoarding is fine, and everyone wants to be that person. But I've seen maybe 3 helicopter rotors, 30 tires, 15 engines/parts/etc, 40 scrap metal, and so on, and no vehicles. I could have built a few out vehicles out of -scratch- with how much I've found but unable to use. :huh: Well there's an idea even haha.

    Can we have vehicles spawning from our asshole with an animation with it too?!? Animal to human blood is smart but then it would kill the rarity of blood bags and the steps you need to take to full recover blood. And if this is ever implemented - lets start a new blood system. Type A, B, AB - mix any with different ones and you die. k? k

    Oh didnt see em, tbh though i dont think this is disadvantaging people at all, this pre experience only really applies to advanced playing, when your picking up more sophisticated weaponry/dealing with more extensive injuries/fixing complex vehicles On top of that people who operate in groups effectively understand the abilities everyone brings to it, and so it would also encourage people to work together. Also its closer to a survival scenario, you could even have the office gremlin for the hardcore player who wants people to know hes survived from the remoteness of chance and skill XD

    Large groups turning a blind eye

    I agree, the duping is really terrible in DayZ. With that said, duping is so incredibly prevalent in DayZ that it happens quite often without people even trying to do it on purpose. For example, I've had a clan member who's battle eye stopped responding while he was a passenger in one of our vehicles and his body fell out with all his loot and for all intents and purposes he was dead, completely lootable as a normal dead body. Upon reconnection he was still alive, where he had fallen out, with all of his gear.. so everything on him was completely duped and he didn't even intend for this. Have had similar things happen with us putting equipment in vehicles and then the server crashes/we disconnect to change servers to one that we have a different kind of vehicle on if we are doing a raid with 4+ people and they have loaded into those servers with the gear they had before they put it in the truck sorta thing. That in my opinion sucks even more than the actual dupe glitches people have to go out of their way to do - because most players accept it as the games fault and will keep the items that have been duped on accident to a server reset where as I have only ever met two players in a few hundred hours of DayZ that actually went out of their way to purposefully dupe items, everyone else I have met thinks that completely ruins the fun of the game which it does.
  8. Rough outline of what to expect in the pending update. I will update this as more stuff is put in. Changelog will then follow it. Performance and Optimization - Reduction/elimination of the new server lag. This is caused by the ArmA2 server expecting immediate response from the central server. Vehicles are the main cause of this, as whenever they are damaged everything stops while the server ensures this is recorded in the database. - Bugs fixed that were possibly causing very significant netcode overhead (will need mass-scale testing to verify this).   9. Hey man I think that some of your ideas could be implemented into the game somehow. I really liked the idea of events happening on certain occasions. However... I was attracted to this mod because of it's realistic survival, it's dark aspects of human interaction and a closer representation of firefights than most video games. If you add perks and leveling up then you kinda take out the realistic survival aspect. So many games could of been good survival games (like Fallout) but they seem to take that away when ever they block access to weapons, items and abilities because your level is not high enough. In real life there is nothing stopping a guy from using a weapons just because he is lacking experience. The player acquires new weapons or vehicles and learns to use them. They might end up liking it or hating it, but still they learn to use it and if they choose continue to learn to master it. I love RPG's but that does not mean I want every game I play to have an RPG aspect! So I would rather keep that out of this game since the game industry has a hard time making truly engaging apocalyptic survival games. Oh and there is nothing wrong with tossing ideas around! Sorry that you have been harassed for suggesting new features in the suggestion part of the forum =/

    Until server crashes/resets stop eating my vehicles and tents, I'm going to keep carrying my most important crap on my person. Also, once you can actually hide tents somewhere, instead of putting them in the middle of a dang field.

We took your shit, partied hardy only to have you all spawn nukes and turn off the server. The server didn't return until the next day -- which just so happens Rocket removed everything. Thanks again for the loot, and sorry we made you all nuke your own server and turn it off when your loss was imminent.

    Al right folks, this is the situation regarding Trading station Delta: Kurkistan and I, as VictorMs chosen successors, have jointly decided that a fresh start is necessary in order to rise above some of the confusion in this thread. To that effect, we are merging Trading Station Delta with Publik's (as yet without a spiffy name) Trading Post . This new trading post is still very much in its infancy, inviting discussion that can benefit from the lessons learned in this. Some of you may have received a PM similar to this, and more should be sent to others soon, it's in case some who were interested no longer keep up with this thread, If you receive a PM after reading this, they're pretty much the same thing. I like the concept, and when you put it like that the idea seems sound, we have however merged with Publiks Trading post which probably wouldn't result in an initial small team. Perhaps taking from your idea, a small team of mobile vehicles makes the "deliveries" and we operate from a hidden base of operations? Yeah, my point exactly. That's why a new system needs to be put in place so people can't just move vehicles every 167 hours to keep their collection of farmed vehicles. That's unfair to the rest of the players and you know it. Not all of us have 5 vehicles, let alone had ridden one in Day Z ever before. And no, players should not have to scour the edges of the bloody map as the only consistent way to find vehicles. I don't think Rocket intended the only credible source of vehicles coming from the edges of nowhere, in packs and herds of 5 vehicles at once.. Run for hours amidst the edges of the map with a miniscule chance of finding people's stashes? Terrible. And hell, it's not even very likely since people are being dumb and storing them off the map still (not you but you don't take up the entire population). I for one am not going to destroy my chances of survival by running in the bush for hours on end looking for a vehicle only to die of starvation because there is probably next to no buildings on the edge of the map. Only those with the coords have a chance of finding it without losing tons of food/water/heat supplies in the process. -1 for defending unfair gameplay mechanics to suit your selfish needs Oh, and keep defending your hoard of 5+ vehicles so that some players can never ride a single vehicle and get tired of running around slowly and wean off into another game, thus cutting down on the playerbase and interest in DayZ's future in general. Or accept the reality that it needs a fix and there are many possible solutions.

    Wow very nice. 7 days seems a bit long especially if the vehicle is bugged/not being used/off the map. I think 7 days is fine if the vehicle is "on" the map and not being used, but if its "off" map and not being used maybe the time should be shortened. Has the server restart bug been fixed? IE when server resets sometimes tents disappear with vehicles and server needs to be restarted again to make them reappear. As for clans hoarding them. Most clans I have seen horde them "on" the map with their tents. Which means if you find them you lucked out with new rides and weapons. Makes for a good find and makes the clan, in my opinion, more reputable. As for those clans who horde them "off" the map...seriously what is the point of that?

    Nope bad idea, its bad enough that a few helicopters and vehicles lag the server out and the fact zombies seem to spawn out of no where in highly unrealistic numbers already leds to issues. So now you want to pack them into unseen areas ala Im Am Legend thus blocking players from getting into buildings to pick up loot. Litter the street and buildings with zombies increasing server lag so not only can you be ambushed by zombies when one gun shot goes off but this sets a perfect trap for bandits looking to grief other players. Thus zombies spawning all over the place with no ability to plan a tactical plan in or out. So now if I want some beans I got to shoot my way in and out? Zombies can walk through doors, climb ladders, swim and run crazy fast in unrealistic directions spawn from nothingness right in front of your character, and sometimes just appear behind you because of server lag. That is entertaining enough for me.

I've played for about 30 hours and have yet to see a SINGLE VEHICLE. Why, you ask? Because annoying people like yourself keep hoarding 5+ vehicles in a single spot, off the map or on it, doesn't matter. You don't need that many vehicles, so I'm actually glad you lost your crap. Suffer like the rest of us, at least you EVEN FOUND A VEHICLE. 7 days respawn is WAAAAY too long, should be reset daily to prevent these hoardmongers. And IMO if you get over 3+ (parked) vehicles together it should just reset them back to spawn again. Stop letting clans have garages full of the entire server's vehicle spawn. If they are currently being driven in packs thats legit, but hoarding vehicles by the dozen is a load of crap. They should be driven daily or respawn, that could work and prevent serious hoarding.. Not everyone has even driven a vehicle, much less has the choice of 8 to pick from for the days cruise. I've beta tested like 30 games and I didn't need the experience to tell me that. Btw, Not trying to discredit the update or anything, it's great and I'll take what I can get. Just wanted to one up these QQ'ers.. "oh no I had 5 vehicles and now my gear inside them is gone." Well boohoo I haven't even ridden a bicycle or anything for that matter and I've been playing nonstop for almost a full week. So yeah I lol'd when I read that. But yeah thumbs up to all the fast updates, and the amazing game in general!

Thats about the time it would take a bandit in Stary Sabor to get to his little 'camp' way north after looting me. Plus the time it would take to kill all the zombies he would aggro at the Military Tents. I mean, SERSLAH. He comes back, notices his vehicles are gone. Looks for a second, and then stops the server. And then he trash talks me in chat. Seriously dude, grow up. Silly little acorn. Mature already.

    vehicles is already re addded... since a week i think, just the chopper are not available for now. (It was do with a server-side patch)
