Weapon Spawn Rate Reduced?

found a heli crash site, fn fal, fn fal with night scope and 3 mags, mk40 with 2 mags. My only problem with spawns is when you drive a vehicle up to any object spawn location(barn/deerstand/house/hangers/atc tower/firestation/church/shacks/warehouse/supermarkets/barracks/hospitals/heli crash sites) NO ITEM SPAWNS until you get out of the vehicle almost 100metres away or further. Then the zombies spawn and bumrush you because of the constant smoke grenade effect vehicles have that attract zeds.... Why can't items spawn if you are driving a vehicle (to) right outside the supermarket for a quick grab and run? -

If you ever watched rocket's interviews on youtube, he states that he doesn't want his mod to be 100% realistic, just believable. Why couldn't someone repair a generator? Doesn't have to be a large scale power plant. But the main point of this idea is it would take a lot of parts so it could give reason for players to group up to rebuild a community and have lights. It really just gives more stuff for players to do. I've already lived for days, fixed vehicles, grouped, soloed. I like more things to do and keep me busy within a game.

Yes. Also if you got good stuff like vehicles and tents on one server then switching server isn't exactly enticing ;)

I'm sorry it's taken so long to give a reply, but if you would of taken it to our forums it would of been looked into much sooner. Though we try to catch issues on here, our forums are a much more direct way to us due to the volume of usage the DayZ forums see. After extensively checking through logs, there is no evidence of foul play in regards to Kriegar or Mirabeau. I can't really comment further on the mass slaying / mass spawning of vehicles as we're still investigating as far as we can with that. I can understand the frustration caused by this and all I can really say is we're doing everything we physically can to catch individuals who wish to spoil the DayZ experience on our servers. If you've got any further issues or queries then just drop a line on our forums and we'll deal with it. -

Agreed, I have a few good ideas for vehicles in my Crazy Idea / Wishlist thread in my signature, check it out. But I like the idea of keys, but I feel you should have to find them via a "clue" system, instead of make them. -
had 2 vehicles, and 3 tents full of ammo/loot for my group. next morning its all gone.

I think once you start having Saves in this game it changes the dynamics completely. Death should strike fear into the player - that disappears once you can go back 5 minutes to a previous save and start again. If you could Save pretty soon you will have all the best weapons, vehicles and gear. After that what would be the point? To be honest i dont even like the idea of being able to get your equipment back once you die in the current DayZ format - running back and looting you old characters body or having your mates grab your stuff. Turns Perma death into semi-perma death. I can see single player being an option in the future, however. Lets just hope it doesnt get dumbed down too much for the masses.

LOL at this thread and the OP, I am the person with the youtube video just posted by Zero, I asked him to post it as that is what happened last night around 530PM EST, here is the time line of the 3 attacks I have witnessed on my server, in ALL 3 attacks our clan mates including me get killed off, so if you think it's because we are doing it on purpose you are an idiot. In 2 of 3 of these cases it's either instant or within a 20 second time frame, that is not enough time for Zero to log out of the game server and remote desktop into the admin console/server host server. Case number 1: Whole server getting nuked. I thought this was a bug and not a hack, later int he night we found out it was a nuke hack, a 3rd of the people on that list are Wolves of War members: Zero was AFK and it wouldn't of mattered even if he was around, how do you stop something that takes 1 second? Case number 2: This was LAST NIGHT at around 530PM EST time, maybe 6ish, the vehicles spawn, and within 20 seconds we are all dead, Zero did not have enough time to switch over and shut the server down until it was too late, he then went into admin chat and found other servers being attacked. Case number 3: Think it was just DayZ issues last night? WRONG, the co-op and normal multi-player servers were under attack as well, I joined a fresh co-op game waiting to see what was going to happen with our dayz server and this shit happened: BTW: I stream on twitch when I play this, so quite a few people outside the clan witness and hear everything we are doing, when this BS goes down, it hurts us, we don't like it and there isn't much of a defense to it, all we can do for now is suck it up and wait for the ARMA guys to put in a patch to fix the security holes. It's not the admin's fault, or my clan's that this game has security measures like a screen door on a submarine. -
I'd like to one-up your idea. Clearly in an apocalyptic situation, there would be no one to run the power plants, and as such, no electricity on any large scale. What if power plants could be repaired and fueled? Much like vehicles? Generators would obviously create a lot of noise, and therefore attract zombies galore. The power plant would also not run at full capacity, meaning it would only provide electricity to a specific radius (whatever that may be). But here are the pros i can think of. 1) A good end-game goal (rocket has stated that these are lacking and he intends to create more) 2) A good team cooperation goal (there are few of these, other than now we have extra meat-shields!) 3) Cities that have been powered would be night-playable (though not impossible now, just terribly difficult without NVGs) 4) ???? Suggestions? Cons: 1) perhaps not possible to implement in arma2's engine? 2) ???? Suggestions?

We play for fun, I am on that side, but beyond those of us who just play for fun, whether that's killing zombies or players or just stealhing, the question is really, why cheat, why hack, why move outside the game to get things in it that aren't real, aren't going to last? I've been on a server and people have mentioned items that were hacked into the game and stuck in tents, I've seen videos of vehicles that aren't supposed to be in the mod, and people were moving things off of the map to keep it from other players. Sounds like a weird way to have fun. Yeah I found a jeep and a car and a land rover and an ATV and I parked them where they can sit and look pretty. What? Explain that bit. It's not like they're real, and not like you're getting your team loaded up and attacking a town like it's a Road Warrior movie. I suppose that my withdrawal has me asking sillier questions by the day.

Well the camps would be per-server so it'd be more server-side (I'd imagine) than network side. Like vehicles. Also there would be a limit for instance if no one was logged on (sleeping) people could raid it, you'd perhaps have some sorta lock mechanic.

haha yeah blame the illuminati they are conspiring against us! Yeah I took one of the hackers choppers, I doubt they will ban everyone that took one of his vehicles and I was desperate to try get my truck of guns safe. -

Hmm. Strange. Maybe the guy who emptied out your tent forgot/didn't know that you can put stuff in vehicles? It happened to me once, I had found a bus which I then drove around in a calm and responsible manner. When I was done I left and walked halfway across the map only to realize that you can loot those things. It still doesn't explain why the car is still there though. -
We've only had one encounter which was the one I just detailed and they lost two people where we lost one.. and they had two vehicles(Which must be rather filled with bullet holes now)/twice as many people as us :P Annnd of course there is the rangefinders/nvgs/thermal scopes they had lol But hey if that's losing, guess we lost!

Random idea: Give bicycles the ability to be packed up into your backpack slot (and of cause make them redeployable as well). (In combination with the common suggestions regarding nerf of bicycle speed and increase of their frequency) Main use would be to EITHER set yourself up as a scout / courier (can enter buildings by packing up the bicycle without getting it stolen, etc) or permit people to story bicycles in other vehicles (realism).

Seeing vehicles off the map can depend on the server weather/fog settings and the players view distance, and ofcourse how far off the map people hide their stuff. I heard stories of people leaving their gear MILES off the edge, unseen. Now picture the poor players searching the map for vehicles that are not there. Or the noob who just spawned and ran off the edge of the map and keeps going... not knowing where to go.

Firstly just want to say good job to Rocket and the DayZ crew. Have been playing Ofp and Arma for years and am glad it is finally being recognised by the wider gaming world. Now I have heard how people are upset with server hopping and disconnecting and these issues need addressing somehow. Another exploit that I have not seen talked about so much is players hiding vehicles off the Northern and Western edges of the map. This is a serious issues that needs addressing I think. It would be all too easy for a clan to find and fix up a Huey (when they were/are in), fly around finding other vehicles using the radar and then proceed to horde and hide said vehicles miles off the edge of the map in the neverending desert of oblivion that no one in their right mind would want to venture... unless they KNEW they would find something. An easy fix for this (maybe it is in, I have not checked) would be to simply make the edges of the map out of bounds and your screen goes black with a warning message to leave otherwise you will be forced to respawn? Now my prefered answer to this would be... a new map. A map made just for DayZ. A large Island... The real Dead Island game. Would eliminate the problem of people hording vehicles off the map if it was endless ocean. More buildings with interiors, cinema, shopping mall, Large urban area in land, skyscrapers? Forest, scary dark bandit swamp etc. Maybe the Island is quarantined and one is killed by military forces if they venture too far out into the ocean?? Custom maps that I have played that come to mind are Island Lingor, Isla Duala and Tropica (great job map makers) Now don't get me wrong I like Chernarus and Rocket has done a great job transforming it but we all know it was not made with DayZ in mind. A few other things to consider but probably not at all new ideas. Safe/Save Zones To avoid server hopping you can only exit the game safely in certain locations? Would add tension when travelling knowing you must make it to your destination to survive. Sleeping bags? Maybe you need one to survive/save?? Just a thought. Air/Supply drops by the military - An ai airdrop with some goodies for people to find. The how and the why I don't know. Maybe if one finds a radio and deploys some kind of signal from the ground, flares and chemlights (certain colour and amount needed), fires etc. Infected dogs/wolves/mutants?? would be welcome to spice things up I think. None are new ideas but I hope maybe they will be considered. Sorry for the long rambling badly written thread. All the best to everyone and cheers!

I'm not a bandit. Except for the couple guys I game with using TS I avoid people like the plague. Was playing DayZ alone one one day and was creeping through one of the small interior towns. Accidently tripped a zombie horde. Madly ran into a small building and had to start shooting to protect myself. That only made it worse. As I loaded up my last Makarov mag, listening to all the shreiking right outside the walls I knew I only had about 1 more minute to live, right? Wrong. Suddenly I hear "honk honk". Now I've seen vehicles from a distance but I've never been in one yet. "Honk honk" OMFG it's getting closer! He's coming closer!! Salvation!! or Salvation?? Obviously he could see the swarm of infected outside my building and heard the shots. I hear him pull up close by. "HONK HONK". So I took a deep breath, had visions of the last scene of the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and burst out of the doorway blasting off my last Makarov mag. There beside me was a glorious white 4x4 pick-up truck. I zig-zagged thru walkers and hoped in. The guy took off and we left town. Long story short we built up a bit of trust and "relationship" as I thanked him profusely. By then I had a team speak buddy online but my new friend refused to pick him up. Guess he didnt like being outnumbered so early in our friendship. I needed food and ammo but again he said no. He was after fuel and parts. Anything else we came across by chance was mine he said. So it was a case of "I saved ur life, u can ride along, but on my terms." LOL I respected that. we parted ways an hour later friends. never saw him again. Hope he's ok.

Thanks for confirming vipeax. Does that mean theyre not in the game or just not spawning? Ah, I really want one... I don't think they should have weaponry on them however, just for transport purposes with my clan. While we're on the subject of vehicles, when do they respawn? If there's a bus in cherno, and someone takes it... does it come back next restart? or if it blows up will it come back next restart? etc (:

1) Yes I like that idea of knocking people out, gives us an alternative to just flat out killing them. 2) Boobytraps are more difficult to agree on. I like the idea about tripwire flares as early warning detection systems but not grenades strapped to loot. That would just get extremely annoying because every time you found a can of beans someone would put a grenade in it and boom. So I'm 50/50 on this one. 3) While there are bikes in the mod I think there should be more. Possibly more vehicles to to cut down on all the vehicle stealing and murder to get your bus. 4) Totally agree with you on this one as well. More animals, make them more frequent and more important make zombies go after them. 5) I do agree with you that medical loot should spawn inside homes, I mean its only common sense that someone would keep those sorts of supplies inside their house right? I also think other items such as tool boxes should spawn more simply because they are common household items.

It disgusts me how in love with this mod i am, and before now i've never really experimented with modding. I really doubt my suggestions will be of any importance and am not expecting to see them in the game, but maybe aspects of them. I feel weird suggesting things for something thats evolving so quickly, especially when it gets better everytime, but here goes... 1. A BIC and some ciggies :) Be awesome to trek into town, casual as, puffin on a dart. Usage causes short term steadier aim while walking, and if abused, causes a subsequent amount of time coughing. Plus its bad ass. 2. Zombie sizes Have fatter zombies that cant keep up with you, everything in between right to the gym junkie that will chase you down like a meth head having his stash stolen. 3. Nicer Dusk and Dawn animations Firstly, like i said before, i love this mod up the butt and the eerie nature of those sequences is not at all bad, but maybe every second, or third day have a nice sunset and sunrise. You know, put some pep in yo step :D 4. Where are the women and children? Yeah, probably not children. 5. More vehicles I know what youre thinking, "STFU N0o8", but really i imagine a zombie holocast much like a chemical weapon attack... Kills all the people but leaves everything intact. I would like to think there would be more cars, not to say make them easier to drive (fixing them/collecting fuel), definately make that harder, just give us more to look at :P (Im aware server limitations) Dont take any of these seriously, theyre just my thoughts while running through the many hours im putting into this mod... Then i fall off a ladder. :dodgy:

Don't forget animal hides, pots and pans, sheet metal from wrecked vehicles (jump up and down on the roof of a wrecked car a few times), old barrels, moss, empty sardine and bean cans, etc. I live in a rainy part of the world. The bigger problem here is how to get water to drain properly, not how to collect it.
