That is a classic case of shitty server performance, cars do not behave like that on healthy servers. The server either has too many mods, too many players, shitty hardware or a combination of all three. Once server FPS gets too low, cars will start behaving like you describe. That said, the way a lag spike can cause a car to change direction - without you even touching the keyboard - is something that really needs to be looked at. Vehicles are also way too sensitive to fluctuations in the net, even if the driver himself has good internet, just one nearby player on crappy connection can trigger desync that will cause harry potter events even on a stable server.

Just as an update- as we found out its wasn't DayZ that was broken it was my own brain cell! The very last one and its faulty! I have been playing on my own server and enjoying it although I do miss interactions with real people well ones that don't want to kill me as soon as they spot me- wish folks like that would chill and find out what kind of player they are dealing with before they go all Killzone on me- I mean there are games where that's what you do but I believe DayZ should be about collaboration and surviving this nightmare together. Or at least being helpful and moving on. Anyhoo on the car front I have found a lot of vehicles, many of which are in pretty decent nick, I have two 4x4s at my wonky base and I am at the point I don't even check when I spot another one. I love driving about in my 4x4 bringing up my Izurvive map (yea I was lucky and found an electronic device with a map of the area installed on it in a house in Cherno- honest!) and heading off to a new area and giving it the once over before heading back home to the comfort and safety of my base. I only have 4 slots on my server but I am going to post up and see if anyone is interested in playing on it. If so and there is more interest I may well upgrade and have a bunch of likeminded PVE type survivors. This doesn't mean we couldn't have battles now and again just for giggles- maybe settle disputes etc Not looking for a group just lots of single or small groups who like to explore, clear zeds and build etc but most of all not KOS! I'd like to thank the good people who helped Houndy and myself out with our lack of intellect and got us off to a zooming start upon our return to DayZ- Thanks guys - Stay safe!

You’ve blown the engine, the car is ruined and will disappear when you leave it so don’t leave anything valuable behind. (UAZ is a modded car btw, but blowing the engine works the same on all vehicles.) Use the gears, that’s what they are for...

Actually I think the DayZ team (by all accounts a tiny crew at this point) are working on DayZ features while the larger Enfusion crew are working on what might be the embryo of Arma4. I mean if this as yet unannounced full Enfusion title is not Arma4 I'd be very surprised, but since nothing is announced yet you never know. Anyway the crafted leather items are already in the game files but since you still can't tan pelts into leather they can't be crafted, unless you use a mod to add a way to tan leather and unlock the crafting. Also the bow & arrow is on its way, I'm fairly sure it'll be in before the end of the year. They're nibbling away on the backlog, slowly but surely. As far as I know the only thing from old plans that is (more or less) officially scrapped is flying vehicles - which would be more than relevant for Arma4. I also doubt we will ever see ragdoll physics in DayZ, unless it can be inherited from whatever the Enfusion team are working on. (This is sad, one of the most distracting bugs the game has is bodies falling halfway into walls or hovering in thin air because part of the corpse happens to touch a tiny ledge, rail or windowsill. Imho this should be a priority to fix, not accepted as unavoidable. It looks cheap and unprofessional.) Also interesting that many of the old suggestions in this thread have been implemented or are available in mods. Sadly not a lot of patches/reinforcements for clothes yet, I'd like it if clothes would actually look patched and worn when you repair them, instead of reverting to pristine textures. There's kneepad jeans in some mod, and a few ponchos, hoods etc, but sadly modded gear is dominated by military stuff which is really not needed. -

And please stop by to our first server event tonight (saturday july 18th) ! It's gonna be so much fun! WELCOME! Attention! We heard the corrupt police force of Chernarus will transport the seized fortune they collected in the days of the Virus-Outbreak to safety. We was able to get our hands on a decoded message. The message reads as follows: This saturday at exactly 21:00 UK Time we will drive from the hidden location and transport the money to our designated pick up location. Sadly we wasn't able to decode the whole message and the exact driving route. But we analysed their terretories in the past and are sure this 4 locations we pinned out in the map will be locations the convoy will pass. We don't know how many corrupt police officers are with this convoy. But we know they will be heavily geared. We estimate that at least 500'000 rubles will be transported in this convoy. We also know they will be using heavily armored military vehicles such as Dingos. This is the perfect chance for all of you to get your hands on some fortune and best gear in the game. Their gear and the content of the transport is free to pick for anyone that manages to get his hands on the goods. Who ever will kill the last of the corrupt ex-police force will also be rewarded as "Event Winner" and get a personal label in Discord and our Event-Leaderboard. -

Hello Survivors, The new 1.07 Update brings some important fixes and exciting new elements to the game. We are adding the Repeater Carbine which uses .357 rounds, and the 12ga Rubber Slugs which can be used by any of your favorite shotguns. This new update also focus on important fixes, from small gameplay tweaks to the inventory fixes that were affecting the players experience since the release of the 1.06 Update. Im trying to work on a hardcore vehicles mod that changes the clutch to be manually controlled. IE. user must press a (remappable) button to engage the clutch. Failure to do so would result in the engine stalling if stopped and in gear, and damage to the engine damage zone if shifting while not using the clutch. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the clutch logic code that controls the clutch when the vehicle isn't in motion and/or the transmission is in too high of a gear at slow speed. In fact I can only find very very little code related to the clutch and engine logic. The logic I could find appears to be a Boolean, which seems to only be part of the equation. That cant account for the fact that the game controls the clutch friction variably when starting or going up a steep hill. Is it baked into the p3d file of the vehicles or something? I've been searching for days using the notepad++ "Find in files" function and I cannot find anything for the life of me.

Never mind, I gave it a try and it seems to work really well, I'm just familiarising myself with the new controls. Wow, it really has changed a lot. Hey everyone, I want to try the offline mode I've heard about to practise for a while to relearn the game as I haven't played since 0.59/60 and hopefully get back into the game, but I need a bit of help, please. Is it an official offline mode or a mod? | 1a. If it's a mod, is it safe? (malware, BattleEye banned for using it...) Does the offline mode run the latest version of DayZ, or exp, dev build...? Will it have all the normal mechanics, loot, infected, vehicles that are in the game? Does it run the same or better/worse? i.e. fps, lag... etc. Can you adjust things like food/water/stamina/cold/heat rates to make it a challenge? And lastly, does anyone have a trustworthy and reliable setup guild or video? I watched a video or two about installing it but it looked sketchy. I appreciate the help. Cheers. -

ANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT MADNESS EVENT IS COMING! There is a military coup underway. The OWG terrorists are taking over cities across Chernarus. The resistance has learned their next attack will be on Elektro this Saturday around 9 PM CST. Spies are reporting OWG forces are gathering weapons and vehicles and plan to move to setup a small camp in Elektro to lock it down. All resistance should start preparing for this conflict. OWG must be stopped. Make stashes near Elektro so you can arm yourself quickly this week. Expect heavy fighting. We also have reports of a large shipment of drugs and/or money will be moving with them as well. Be prepared for war. -

Traders remove that basic premise that DayZ is built upon - to search for stuff that you need until you find it, either by scavenging the ruins or by looting or trading with other players that you meet. With AI traders you can basically just run a loop around whatever town you spawn nearest, sell all the crap you pick up and then be geared. I hate that stuff, it automatically breaks the economy on a server and ruins any semblance of balance the game might have. The "if you don't like them don't use them" mantra is false, because if there are traders you'll be at an enormous disadvantage if you don't use them. But to each their own, lots of players like that stuff and the beauty of mod support and public server files is they can have traders on their servers while vanilla and hardcore modded servers don't. Win win. The difference between spawned and bought vehicles you talk about is down to server configuration, if the server owner doesn't configure the files properly spawned (or bought for that matter) vehicles will despawn or spawn where they aren't stable etc.

The Dead Return(TDR) SA is the spiritual successor of The Dead Return for Arma2:DayZMod which has been around since March, 2016. The Dead Return(TDR) SA is a lightly modded server. Mods have been added for variety and enhanced gameplay. TDR allows PVP and KOS, but why not try to interact with other players? There are mos with extra vehicles, guns and gear. I hand-picked some of the more interesting items from the mod packs below. For example, to keep the guns spawns manageable, I’ve stuck mostly to guns that use ammo already in the game (like 7.62×39 and 5.56×54, etc). The extra weapons and gear spawn in limited quantities and/or at heli crashes, so they are still rare. Base destruction and car damage are nerfed for now since those are 2 of the biggest issues in the vanilla game. Finally, of course there are more zombies.
