Dont count on seeing your vehicles and tents full of stuff again after UK41 patched to 1.7.2. All loot inside tents, all vehicles and everything has been resetted and cleared by patching to 1.7.2, and if you'll try to place stuff inside your tents again; they'll simply disappear on the next server restart. If this is old news for you, dont be mad. I'm just trying to warn other players with tents&vehicles, because this has happened to my camp yesterday.

You would be surprised. Up until 4 days ago, the only "easy" and "user friendly" script hack was one developed last year, and had been detected for months. People before now, used small specific scripts to spawn specific things, like vehicles through file editing. This wasnt user friendly. 3-4 days ago, a new hack was released based on the code of the "old one" which allows people to run all kinds of scripts. This is why we see so many videos of hackers at this moment, people spawning things, dropping bombs, teleporting everyone to 1 spot. These things are all results of a popular mod where gear has some form of meaning, and a new hack that allows you to be "on top" of everyone else.

Vehicles are being exploited. First come, first serve.
KWilt replied to deviantdigi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oh, I'm sorry. The time and effort I put into the vehicles I find isn't enough for you? I'll be sure to make a heartfelt apology in this very topic every time my group finds parts, fixes up the vehicles we find, and take them back to our camp. (Which isn't even off the map, so don't even try pulling that bullshit.) If you want a damn vehicle, get off your ass and find it. Sure, there are the fuckers who park a mile off the map, but then there's people like my group who don't. -

Imo 1.7.2 is great. My fps went up by ~10, and i like the increased vision range on the infected. They weren't much of a threat before, and while its harder to avoid them now its still perfectly possible to raid towns without drawing aggro. You just have to use prone if there are infected nearby, generally move slower, and sometimes move back and wait for them to move out of your way. Neither me nor any of my friends have lost any of their gear, tents or vehicles and the servers we usually play on work great. -

Well maybe you should look harder for them then, or do what me and my friends did, create an ambush, we got a GAZ ( Grey ) Which blew up in the ambush and a UAZ ( Red ) from it, and we have about 9 vehicles which we use for storage, collecting loot or to get around -

what Zeds said ... bitching about the fact that you dont have a vehicle is ridiculous. we use all of our 6 vehicles all the time for raiding, looting, picking ppl up on the coast, storage, etc etc etc ... no sure how you think/know ppl are hoarding their vehicles ... -
Id love a screenshot of this email Actually, Battleye allows for a lot of diversity and allows admins to deny scripts themselfs. If any admin actually wanted their server to be more or less safe, they would use Battleeyes feature of disallowing specific scripts by adding them to a .txt file. This instantly denies any script you ad, such as spawn weapons, vehicles or any other shenanigens.

I am really shaky on this whole idea but if its range is to far, say 1km+, there will be some serious issues with logging in. I can see a team setting up a 5km radius of these things around the airfield with a small hole right in the middle where anybody who tried to log in would be shuffled right into the middle. At the rate of people who probably log in near the airfield, I can see this happening easily. This would be manageable with 8 people or so . For the first little while everyone sets up 3 of the 24 or so radio towers necessary that they have looted and stockpiled. Then two people watch the inner area where people will be funneled into, four people run around to the generators filling them up, and two more people take vehicles constantly refilling jerry cans. Everybody who logs into nearly an eighth of the map, a fairly populated area of the map, gets destroyed. -

Agreed, too many jerk offs hoarding vehicles and never using them. Seriously, all you need is 3-4 vehicles. Not every single one. -

Greetings, I think the vehicle's spawn mechanic needs a balancing. To my knowledge vehicles only spawn on server resets and if the vehicle was destroyed. I'm sure there's a timer and a probabilty aspect to spawning but that doesn't really affect the issue. Now I think this is a nice realistic mechanic, but I do not bleleve the majority of the vehicles on a server are being used as they're intended by Dayz. Now this creates an problem, as players that are new to a server are most likely never to find a vehicle at an orginial spawn location. Now you don't want vehicles to common occurance in a survival game. But as the game is currently being played, vehicles are being hoarded and hidden. Usually by shady means like by the server admins and or being placed on the edges of the map. I've been playing this game since v1.7.5, a few weeks. But I've done a lot of traveling, running. In the laps I have done around Chernarus I have only found 2 ATV's on a low pop. server. Its hard to make a suggestion as changing the current vehicle's spawning mechanics would require some serious tweaking. Tweaking that I don't have a clue about nor resource restraints. Don't get me wrong, make your fort. Keep your vehicle. But I'd imagine it would involve a way of anti hoarding or spawning a new vehicle after such vehicle is gone for such time. -
*IF* this is an Alpha then lets act like it
Zakificus replied to Redshift's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only thing I have to say in favor of not wiping the characters, is that it makes testing across all stages of the game that much faster. When a new patch hits, you have the new players, the players just getting the hang of things, the guys with all the rare weapons and vehicles, and everyone in between. This means that as soon as a patch hits, we know what is wrong and right and where. Best example is this last patch. If we wiped everything every time, it could have been quite some time before people realized that the L85 was accidently removed, and that the Ghillie was bugged again. Would these things have been discovered eventually, yeah, but it was almost immediate by leaving people with what they have. That said, I definitely think major releases should have wipes. I would honestly be surprised if there weren't wipes when the mod is declared Beta and when it is released. But those are the obvious times. In between I could see a few big wipes whenever he makes a more substantial change. If like the OP suggested, we start really cranking the mechanics in different directions, a wipe becomes much more necessary to get pure testing results. Otherwise for the time being, not wiping I think, is a little more beneficial since the whole spectrum of players is hit at once. -
Rule, do not hack. Pretty simple if you are making gear appear you will be banned. Who needs a list to know this nonsense. Also, if you are using exploits expect a server ban. Once again if it is cheap do not be surprised about the punishment. If people start being punished just for sheer d baggery then I will be on your side, but excuse me for not feeling bad for some stupid hackers who spawn items and vehicles for an unfair advantage or even worse spawn you in the air to fall to your death. I have been killed by a hacker in my short time playing the game, I did not come on here to whine about it but it was extremely annoying.

When this mod first gained popularity teaming up with strangers was fairly normal because no one really knew what they were doing and everything was brand new. Now there are hundreds of thousands of skilled players who have collected plenty of rare loot plenty of times (and been murdered plenty of times) and realized the only things left to do are repair vehicles and kill other players. I've only murdered 3 people in 80+ hours of playing, but my current character is fully kitted, I bounce from server to server so vehicle repair is out for me, and I'm bored with nothing to do. I'm taking risky raids halfway hoping zeds knock me around a bit so I'll have to go hunt an animal for meat to get my blood level back up. IDunc - Are you the same Tyler I murdered on your first night then ended up teaming up with for awhile shortly thereafter?

Hoarders... The real reason I never seen vehicles in DayZ... -
Didn't think about frags :P Fair point i suppose, but i believe trying to find a secure spot for a camp that is still on map is very difficult and would never provide true security to players and their vehicles...

On the note of giving us cosmetics for our camps, if there's a way, I'd love to have "tree branches" or "brush" to help hide tents and vehicles. -
We've been back don't you worry. ;) I bet it was great fun, when I joined our mumble last night the stories I heard sounded great. To be honest you caught us very unawares and with a few AFK guys in the base it sounds like. And you didn't log out when we shot back which is great. Confusion reined though it sounds like from our side so we didn't really have much of a plan to stop you. Congrats, enjoy your vehicles but we will be looking for you im sure.
-
That's exactly it, it would be hypocritical of us to be annoyed with people for raiding our camp. As long as it was raided fairly and no map hacks were used or something then its all good fun. We had great fun raiding other peoples camps we found and battling with groups around these camps. We had no qualms about shooting people and then stealing everything including the worthless crap out of peoples tents. Even using other peoples camps as M203 launcher practice. All part of the game. Some of our vehicles on the few servers we've played on were taken violently from other people. You found our camp you took our stuff you managed to sneak up on us and take out a few of our players and got yourselves a few vehicles in the process its what the game is about. We've had close encounters with people around the base recently, we've had possible spies joining up with us just to relay our location and its been great fun. And if the stuff you got from us has kitted you out better then awesome it will make our next encounter interesting!

Oh, I'm sorry for my previous post then. I must have misunderstood the OP. Kudos to you guys for playing the game fairly and stashing your vehicles on the actual map.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I love when we get convoys together. Always funny to see a tractor rolling slowly behind this pack of vehicles.

So ive seen a lot of videos of players who claim to be bandits, and most of them are idiots. Being a bandit isnt just about getting a high murder count, its also about stealing guns, equipment, and vehicles so you can get ahead in DayZ. Here is a simple little guide that may help some newer players improve. 1.) get target practice in Cherno. if you are just starting out you should really get some target practice in before you head north. you really dont have much to gain by sticking around in the south but it is the best place to work on your accuracy. I personally suggest the Lee Enfield as your go to weapon. its basically a sniper rifle with iron sights, it will 1 shot anyone and its super common. get on top of one of the tallest industrial buildings and snipe for a while with that lee. I would also check the barns that can spawn CZs and if you find one get some time in with a scoped rifle as well... learn how to zero and lead shots. 2.) once you are comfortable with your aim head north. there is no point to sticking around in the south. sometimes some idiot comes down there with a good gun to snipe noobs spawning in, but for the most part its just those noobs spawning in, and you are wasting your time with them. Starry, Vybor, NWAF, NEAF are obviously the player hotspots so thats where you want to head. 3.) let your victims do the work for you! say you get to the airfield and you have a good spot to snipe from (dont sit in the firehouse or control tower unless you want to die), and you see zombies around. you know someone is in the area. dont shoot at the first player you see. watch them move around. are they laggy? can you hit the shot if they are? how many are there? do they have a sniper covering them? these are all things to consider. Observe for a while before you take the shot. Also, letting them live makes your life easier. they are going to hit all the key buildings in the area and pick up all the good gear, so let them do all the looting while you observe, then kill them and you only need to loot their body for all the good gear they found. 4.) be patient! you just headshot someone and they are dead. you want to run in there to loot your victim... DO NOT MOVE. If your victim has friends (which you should be aware of if you took the time to observe before shooting) they are now aware that you are in the area, and they are looking for you. If their friend had any good gear on him they are going to try to get it, so just watch the body for a while and pick off anyone who tries to loot it. then you have even more gear in one place... its less work for you. just be patient. sometimes i will sit and watch a body for 15-20 minutes after a kill if im alone, by that time anyone who was with my victim usually starts to think "well that sniper is prolly gone now" and then they make a mistake. 5.) dont raid every camp you find (at least not right away). if you come across tents make sure nobody is in the area and move in to check the gear. if they have the goods (NVG, GPS, ghillies, super rare guns) then yeah, raid it and get out, come back and loot the rest asap. If you come across a camp that has a lot of stuff, but nothing amazing, DONT TAKE ANYTHING. Taking stuff from a tent will let players know someone else has been there, and they will move. This goes back to #3... let your victims do the work for you. Write down the server the tents are on, and the location along with some of the gear in those tents. come back in a day or two and see if they put anythign in there worth taking. as long as they keep adding gear to their camp you may as well let them do it until there is something worth taking. this same rule applies to vehicles. unless you find a great vehicle stashed somewhere, dont take it right away unless you have NO vehicles of your own. If you have transportation there is no reason to jack some guys hatchback or anything. check the gear, and leave it. let them use it to bring more gear to you. 6.) camp vehicle areas. not spawn areas, but areas people go with vehicles. Skalka in the north west has an isolated barn that you can refuel at. Lots of people with vehicles like to base up there because its "safe" post up on that main road and watch for people coming and going. dont take the shots right away, see what they have, try to find out WHERE they are parking that vehicle, since they most likely have tents with them. Gas stations are another place to camp. the gas station near Polana, and the high yeild factory just down the road from there are places lots of people go with their vehicles. Since there is nowhere good to hide vehicles/tents in those areas you should just take the shot when you have it, and steal the vehicle. 7.) work with a spotter. playing with a friend who you can trust makes life much easier. If you get a kill they can move in to loot while you cover them. and they can cover you while you snipe. 8.) travel light. Make you you have at least an Alice pack. if you are sniping and you have a spotter, just carry your rifle, a couple mags and food/drink/medical because you want to have room to pickup your victims loot without having to drop something. 9.) night sniping is the most rewarding. people use their NVGs at night. dumb people with NVGs think thats the best time to hit the airfields and stary since nobody can see them. crank your brightness, gamma, and set HDR to very high, you will usually be able to see very well at night like this. go to stary and NWAF at night and kill the idiots who show up with their NVGs =) I hope these tips come in handy for someone. Happy hunting.

[FIXED] The armoury does work if you disable DayZ as an expansion. I believe this is a fix for people being able to spawn loot/vehicles into the game via scripting. I could be wrong though, it has been known.

I'd like all players and tents and vehicles and loot spots and Zombies and oh everything, visible on my in game map so I don't have to do any work finding anything, that would be coool!!! :D -
I think it's ok to repair/hide vehicles on the MAP, I don't see the problem. Also I think it's definitely ok to find anothers camp loot the hell out of it, then levae the spot with the vehicle you fancy and burn the rest down. either way, you have fun:D
