I don't know the exact number, but it's FAR more than 10. There are more than 10 types so that would mean there isn't even one of every vehicle? My team and I have been in possession, at peak, of ~14 vehicles and we still encountered other groups who had their own on the same server. My guess is probably 35-50. Somewhere in that range.
-
Hello. I would like to ask how many vehicles are there in one server?
-
I think bikes are the best vehicles in the game. All other vehicles are just tents with benefits.
-
Vehicles are capped; you can only find a new one spawned on the map if a current vehicle is destroyed. For parts, you can try The Factory south of Berezino; it's not as popular as many of the other heavy industrial spawn points, though you should still be careful.
-
They do not; those people are called vehicle hoarders. Usually clans hoard a lot of the vehicles at their base not to mention loot. Loot does respawn, however.
-
False ... I see other vehicles driving all the time. And we certainly dont just hide/hoard our vehicles ... we use the shit out of them. The areas most likely to spawn a good amount of car parts ( jerry cans, engine parts, fuel tank parts, scrap metal, glass, and tires ) are the industrial/factory areas. Get a loot map and take a look at where these industrial areas are ... and enjoy ;]

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
[email protected] replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info

Is repairing a car or truck worth the effort? Does one require any more work or parts than the other? (Not reffering to choppers, motor bikes, or ATV's, just normal trucks and sedans) Also is there any specific area where car parts frequently spawn?
-
I found a blue van and wasted about 1 hour repairing it only for it to explode when i hit the left front tire on a debris. Is there are reason why vehicles are so weak? Last time we hit a bus on a tank trap and only the right front wheel was in need of replacement. :/

Inconsistent starting conditions, how is this supposed to work?
Disgraced replied to entelin's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Vehicles and tents are server specific. Gear that one carries should travel with the character. I would say that how it works... is right now it doesn't work. You will hear it time and time again, this is a beta test of a mod, and things like this can happen. I can't say that I've seen this specific issue, but given the flood of 'me too' posts and redundant 'bug reports' going up, I've stopped really paying attention. I suppose that the main question would be when you say the same version, are you talking about the experimental one (1.7.2.1), or the last released set of files (1.7.2). If it's the latter, I would not expect any level of consistency or real playability. That's being fixed now but it isn't yet. So it is probably frustrating, but we just have to ride it out. -
While playing on the US90 server some friends and I have experienced what we think is a group of abusive admins or hackers. Ever since we looted a massive car lot and found the motherload of gear it seemed as if we were being watched. Our camp, which was filled with the stolen loot, was raided shortly after we established it and everything was taken back. This didn't really strike us as odd because we had two big red tractors that could've easily given away our positions. So as any other player would do, we searched the area and ended up finding a few of our vehicles. We proceeded to establish two new camps that were on complete opposite sides of the map from each other, but we were now low on supplies so we had to make runs into towns. The problem was that everytime we were close to a town, a group of people with a yellow hatchback would show up. This happened three or four times. It was like they knew exactly where we were, no matter what town we were in. After about a week and a half of gathering gear, our camps wear doing well. We then discovered that camp A had been completly emptied of all gear and vehicles. This wasn't a big deal because we had our second camp to fall back onto. About an hour later we find a repairable helicopter. So naturally we fly around looking for our missing vehicles. Then we come acrossed a group of survivors and it just so happens that when we get them cornered, the server crashes. When it resets we log back in with no helicopter and have to walk all the way back to camp. After the fourty five minute hike back to camp B, we discover that it has been raided as well. The chances of all these things happening in one session of Dayz is incredibly unlikely and made me stop and think. I thought maybe this was all bad luck until the next day when i logged in. I was stuck in the "Creating Character" menu, so i started to group chat with some random people. One guy tells me that he saw an admin flying a tank around the map. As soon as another player confirms that he saw the same thing, the server crashes. This sealed the deal for me. I'm almost positive that the admins have something to do with it. If not then its a group of hackers and that's not ok either.

Military Offroads Missing in 1.7.2?
Rabbican replied to Macenzie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes our military off-road also disappeared from the middle of our camp, none of our tents or other vehicles were touched, and we had just acquired the off-road 3 days ago (repaired it etc). I hope this awesome vehicle gets hot fixed back in! -
People use vehicles as mobile, death-permanent tents. Should they be removed? No. Barbed wire has its place, even if it is spammed a lot. Take, for instance, Freeside Traders - they've practically made Devil's Castle into a fortress during their trade meets by liberal use of barbed wire, tank traps, and sandbags. Want to get in? Use the guarded front gate or get shot while trying to remove a wall of wire 5 pieces thick. Even better, I once came across a server where a big group (9 people had their clan tag) had barricaded NWA. Yes, all of it - plugged up the fences with wire, and I could hear an ATV on the inside patrolling around. Great use of wire to completely set up shop in an otherwise deadly, high traffic area.
-
my vehicles are stuck on a server that hasnt upgraded yet
-
What you're talking about is a endgame of sorts. Since getting these vehicles practically requires a group, and future base building, electricity grids, etc will require it for sure, its the same thing really, unless you want to get into semantics and be picky. Thats the great thing about sandbox games. Sure there are things which can be construed as being endgame (vehicles, bases, high end equipment, etc) but they don't really matter much without a group. Its all about the group.

Agree or Disagree? Why we kill...
Whattteva replied to bbilbo1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with the OP, cause it sort of depicts how it would be if apocalypse really did happen. Yes, you would get some serial killers, but the majority of the population is simply not like that. Taking someone's life in real life takes balls. Not everyone can just pull the trigger easily. I myself can't even stand the sight of something gruesome too much. I'm pretty sure at least half the people here can't even handle seeing most trauma injuries you see in ER's without throwing up. Besides, you can't survive on your own indefinitely. Eventually, you need people to do things that you have no expertise on. Someone needs to figure out how to build vehicles, how to generate electricity, how to build shelter, how to build weapons/ammo etc.. etc.. The human race got to where it is now because of this very reason. We depend on others to do things that we can't do on our own. Humans are by nature, very social creatures. Of course, this becomes moot in a game where cans of beans, vehicles, ammo, weapons just conveniently spawn out of nothing. As much as some people would like to claim how "realistic" this game is, it just simply isn't. Killing some pixels is far far easier than actually killing a real human unless you are one of those psychopathic serial killers whose brains we still have yet to understand fully. Unlike normal people, they feel neither remorse nor happiness when they kill others... just complete indifference. -
Why do you post this every day, Dallas? When every day I point out the fact that you are wrong? The disadvantage to "deathmatch" game play is death. If death is not a disadvantage in the game, then what is? What, if not death, is the measure of disadvantage? Death means loss of player location, potential loss of gear, wiping of kill stats, survival duration, being separated from friends/partners, etc. Bandits are less than 20% of the players, but account for over 40% of the deaths. That is a disadvantage. You cannot claim otherwise. Please stop trying. Says who? You? "What is DayZ?" tells me that one of the goals is to scavenge, one is to slay zombies and bandits (which implies the presence of bandit-like activities) and one is to survive. It is just as valid to call this a banditry mod as it is to call it a survival mod. Simply because you have some pre-conceived notion that this is a "survival game" and that PvP just happens to be one of the mechanics doesn't that you have the right of it and the rest of the players who might be playing it as a "bandit game" with survival elements have somehow got it wrong. And based on rocket's statements here on the forums and in interviews, he wants people to make up their own minds about what the mod is about. He's not going to tell them and if he's not willing to make that call then you sure as hell shouldn't be trying to on his behalf. That's just absolutely silly. Pure unadulterated silliness. And saying it makes you look silly. I've listed the disadvantages above. The ONLY disadvantageous things in this game are a result of death. And if death isn't a disadvantage, how can PvP POSSIBLY be a problem for anyone? Surely if death is irrelevant then it doesn't matter what anyone does? What percentage of players in this game do you think play as part of a group/clan that is organized enough to replace an entire suit of high-tier gear multiple times per day? Ignoring the ones who are currently exploting tent and item duplication bugs to allow for such? I play constantly with 5-6 players and we loot high value targets all the time. Like, hours a day. We still don't have NVGs for everyone, let alone replacements, we have NO range finders in the group, and the high value weapons we have are mostly 1-2 each, at most. 1 AS50, 1 M107, a couple SAWs. If we die, we lose gear, our next guy isn't going to be kitted out in 3 minutes. And I think that's true of almost everyone who plays this game. You're greatly exaggerating the presence of these mega-corp clans who have unlimited gear and resources. And as I said, most of those that DO exist only get by by exploiting loopholes that will soon be closed. And honestly if they do exist then you need to find their camp, raid their tents and vehicles, and prevent them re-gearing their new members so easily. Now that you cannot store vehicles and tents off-map, there should be no safe haven for these guys to store their unlimited wares.

Boats are pointless atm: - So slow that you can actually run faster. - Your temp drops while on a boat so need to get on land to warm up. - You cant eat food or drink or anything while on a boat so you always need to get off to do this. - Your a sitting duck for other players because you can't shoot back. - And they take more fuel than vehicles do to travel the same distance.

Hello there Desynching whilst in vehicles is a known and common Arma2 issue. I doubt the dayz Devs (although BiS staff) will be able to do anything within the current build. try keeping the pings down of whomever is in the vehicle, although that's not a definite cure all. rgds LoK

I got on last night to find my friends on a very low populated server (2 not including them), so getting a lucky break we all met up in elektro, raided the loots there, then headed north. Even though it was dark, it was pretty fun, for this was the first time I had actually played with it at night. We got to the airfield as the server reached 4AM server time, so there were now 8 others in the game with it getting brighter in the morning. Scouted it out from the southern barracks, and we went for it. Sadly the loot was just fair. Only unique thing we found was one of those assault rifles with attached grenade launcher (and alot of AKM ammo for me). I got a question though. Is it easier to find vehicles up north? Gonna take a while to head back south, so we were searching for a vehicle with no luck before I logged.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
ZedsDeadBaby replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So what you're saying is that spawning without a gun forced you to slow down, familiarize yourself with the mechanics and controls, and then slowly learn how to behave around zombies in order to remain safe? This, as opposed to simply charging headlong into wherever it is you wanted to go with no question or concern for anything because you know you have a trusty gun at your side with plenty of ammo should things go sour? Forgive me, but it sounds like the system is working perfectly. Spawning without a gun is telling you something about the game. It's saying "Hey, Francis, this is not a traditional shooter. This game isn't all about running-and-gunning, killstreaks and headshots. Part of the game is about patience, stealth, careful planning and tactical considerations such as using cover to move from place to place unseen. As a new player you are far better off learning how to safely move around zombies than you are learning how to shoot straight. All this on top of the fact that coastal murder rates between hungry newbies have gone from epidemic proportions to practically non-existent. I can't remember the last time I died on the beach compared to before when the constant din of Makarov fire sounded like rolling thunder on the coast. Remember, if you're new, you're supposed to die. This game is all about killing you. You will find that you learn the most about survival by failing to do so. Even dying to some of the annoying bugs and odd behaviors teaches you something (don't get out of vehicles near walls, don't stand too close to doors when opening/closing, etc.). Anyway, hope this helps. -
Hello, (Edit - Sorry for the lost post, got carried away and did not know it was that long) I typed them here because it saves space making lots of little threads all over the place. This is my first post on this forums. I've not long been playing Dayz and I love it so much, I've not even gone back to BF3 or anything else. Dayz has taken over my life. I watched the video with the Interview with Rocket and got me thinking on something he's said. 1. If the game went to a standalone game I would throw my money at you so fast, you would be blurred. Standalone you could improve upon the game and add things that are more pleasing for a zombie game, and take things out like 90% of the armoured vehicles, heli's because they are not being used. Only some of the vehicles are. Also world increase could be good. Do not worry on the size, Max Payne 3 is 35Gb and campaign not even that long. This would not have a campaign kinda.... So 40Gb of pure content, survival and special things like some of the things I've typed below. 2. Bandits tool. Me and a few friends find each other after many many hours or running alone, and we get some good stash from some raids, only to be killed by some bandits. This is extremely annoying and I know this would be a fact of realism but why not... Something like awareness on bandits. So if a bandit is around they are marked red or something in an area they are located. Like the white marks on the side of the screen for zombies but a bright red one for the location of a bandit. Not the full location just the area around they are. (They are proper proper annoying, players just being total c**ks because they cannot do it themselves) Only for 5 murders and above they show up, so people can avoid them if they wanted too because I would and do not want to play on a server where people murder others... 3. Spawning.... When you first spawn into the game you are random spawned onto the shore or inland and then take hours upon hours finding your friends. Why not a spawn selection BUT area not a specific location. So we could select South West area, and it will spawn us on the shore south west some where. So we still got to find out friends but it is an area not completely jotting all over the place... Also only allow the shores a spawn place... No inland just shore. 4. No objective is good, and no safe zones... BUT... Why not right at the tip top of the map, past the airfield.. Make a base or a wall that is safe.. So you can go in there, get ammo, guns, food etc and then venture back out to look for more survivors. Good idea on the ground that it's a massive run across the map and you'd need to stop and eat, but it is the idea of making the run to safety to find it and only run back out to find others or something you know? 5. If the game went standalone it would be good but needs to have a mission I think. Maybe setup camp, fortify the camp, go out for supplies. If you died then have to get back to your base to rearm up... Unless someone else has taken and raided it. So the ability to baricade windows. Move stuff, knock wood into the windows and doors etc. (That would make alot of noise too) Would have to find steel nails, or make them from a factory press.... That be a long trip for some nails lol. 6. Ability to run our own servers for friends etc, Also allow the ability to take the characters from our servers to others, seeing as Battleye is on why not. I would like to host my own server from my PC. Play online with friends in comfort with battleye protection... and if someone joined and killed one of us. I would ban them, and other players could join in and play too, friendly. If we turned Battleye off then the server should go in offline mode, so the characters cannot be carried to the other servers. Battleye 0 is cheats and no hive mode. Battleye 1 and the hive works and can be taken all over. Only so murderers can be banned so we can enjoy the game for what it is.. I love this game, I really do. If I put aside the bugs and glitches, like the zombies running super fast to catch up, running through walls, or dropping from the sky etc, the list is kinda big. It does not annoy or bother me. It is the bandits that really really REALLY annoy me. If you are a bandit then please get a life... and go play COD or some other game. The game has alot of potential but I do not think Arma is the game for it. Yes it is big, and yes it has alot but look at the game themselves. The Arma games are buggy as hell. I've found alot of them in the game, and the controls are insane. There are sooooo many controls it is insane to even sit there and read them. Massive open world zombie survival has never been done before. There is no game like it, so I think it is unique. Dead Island, Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor etc, the list is big are all VERY linear games. One way of approaching it, and this is the only game I can think of that you can do what you want, got to eat, cook, camp, drink, gets tired etc... Why not add other things like: Cooking time must be a certain time or you can under cook food and become sick, so the character is sick and needs pills to get better... fishing so we chop down a tree, make a line, get cloth and get fishing for food to cook and eat with hunting knife. Digging a hole or trench so we can dig out a hole or gap into a mountain, into the floor or something so that we can dig into a mountain and stop the zombies from climbing up... But then light a fire in the cave would glow out massively and attract them, and they'd wait at the bottom... Try to escape that people... :P (So we could dig kinda deep but a limit you know.. Chat Channels are helping. Global so I can type and see how people are on the other side of the world like. Taking them away was a little silly... They help. Ability to create a shelter.. So using the cloth we've found or taken from zombies we could use to make string or something, and close trees depending on the lenght, we could hang it up and put leaves across it... So like Rocket said (he's from the military) he should know. Making a base without a tent, so we could also use the digging hole trick to set traps. Dig a hole, string and leaves over the dop, people/ zombies walk over, fall in and stuck inside. Easy kill zombie, or survivor found bad accident. Clothes and cloth comes alot of options. So wrap around a steel bolt, set on fire.. Becomes a fire arrow, shoot at zombies, or poor petrol around floor and shoot at that, stop zombies getting through fire, or buildings on fire. Ridable horses, so only in farm lands... We find horses in a barn or something. Saddle on the wall, mount it and ride off. 2 people per horse too, and some barns have 4 horses. Minimum in each barn 2. Ability to climb a tree. So we walk up to a tree and climb right to the top, to look out and get bairings so we know where we are. Also, why not ability to start off with a pistol, but only.... 5 shots in the gun. That is it. Gives you a little chance. So a basic pistol with 5 shots and that is it, but make the gun so you cannot find ammo for it. Like add a special one off 5 shot ammo gun, so something that does not use any other ammo around and once the 5 shots are gone, they are gone. That is it, must find another gun. Radios are useless to me, because I play with friends and we talk over Skype an ingame Radio for other players I mute about 99% of the time, because some peoples voices are annoying and sometimes it's some 13year old kid screaming like a girl. So I prefer to type chat to other players around the game. Playing on an offline server, with cheats enabled is fine. It is offline and their server so they can play it how they like, and should not be bannable because it is their server, their game and it is offline, so if Battleye is turned off.... The game will not go live and only offline, so cheat away. No character carry over. As soon as it goes live and you load it. If you've been on a different server or something online then your character shall be loaded, just saying... I've been on an offline server and cheats just made it SUPER boring and no fun, went back online to a battleye server and doing the game it is ment to be played is just pure amazing. I've got lots and lots of ideas it is just typing them down when my head is full of the ones I am typing down, lol. Well thank you for taking time to read this post. Been writing down off the top of my head, and forgot most of them as I've been thinking how to work something, lol. Hardcore Servers (Veteran) and normal changes Then option for a hardcore server comes in... Hardcore could have nothing on the screen. No markers no food have to relay on sounds. Belly rumbles. Blood spitting out to heal. Thirsty sounds could be grasping for breath. So then that could be nothing on screen for people. Hardcore and normal servers. Heatpacks? I've never ever used a heatpack and never ever had a problem or needed to, so is there is a problem there? Rain should make you colder quicker right? Also needs more zombies. Way more zombies. Need them walking randomly around the forest. Way more in the big cities, like alot more of them. Sorry BF3 but Dayz has beaten you. If you do not like them, then do not post. I have posted this because I think that they are a good idea. Some people are obviously scared on other peoples oppinions than their own, so I do not care. This is what I think would be good, which is why I have posted it here. If you think they are terrible then fine, save your breath because I do not care. Kind Regards, Menphuess!

What do you think about non-hive servers?
bami replied to DeadManDan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I run my own non-hive server. It's for colleagues and friends who I can trust to not disconnect or hack stuff. I usually go play on that when I get killed again for no appearent reason from a sniper half the map away. I also made some tweaks to the zombies so that they don't glitch around all the place and actually post a challenge instead of just being obnoxious, and some other stuff like morphine being part of farm loot instead of just spawning at the coast, vehicles require less things to repair (although they need a refuel so gas cans are in high demand), and some other things that rocket just refuses to do (like giving everyone a weapon, hatchet in this case at spawn). I know this doesn't help development directly but I think I'm personally responsible for around 20-25 sold copies of ArmA2:AO, as people from work joined the server, told other people who bought it etc. That is 20 copies extra sold for Bohemia, money they can use to invest in ArmA3 and DayZ. It's just a far friendlier place (although PvP still happens, just not as random as on public servers), and I ofcourse play on the regular servers and encourage the other players on the server to do the same. Essentially, my main motivation is to get rid of all the dicks, and a private hiveless server does just that. -

Retention and expansion
evolution (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like your ideas and these are very relevant. Now it seems as though players who have acheived everything are finding the game less enjoyable. I think that Dayz should also impliment something to keep players going on even after they have all vehicles/weapons/clothing etc. Im not sure what, no ideas at the moment or I would have posted them xD +1
