    Vehicles

There seems to be a small group of players controlling the vehicles, I have seen Convoys of vehicles driving around shooting the place up, but after getting a map of all the vehicle locations and have been trying on a couple of different servers for over 2 weeks to find just 1 and have not found any. I think the system that allows players to control these vehicles permanently needs to be dropped and there needs to be a time limit, like if the vehicle hasn't been used for 30mins then it re spawns at the location it was taken from. Now i no you few people with vehicles hidden are gonna cry like babies but i think the wider community deserves a chance at the vehicles too.

    admins are abuseing

I had no idea admins had this amount of access to contents of player inventories. Not sure how I feel about that. I'd much rather something like BE keep an eye on my current gear than an actual person who may (or may not) misuse that information. Massios, could you please elaborate? Are you able to check a players current inventory at any time? (I'm not planning to get bitchy about it, this is just news to me and wanted a better understanding on the info you (as an admin) can access about a players gear. Does this extend to tents / vehicles as well?
  3. If I wasnt rolling in a large group already, i'd give you guys some AS-50 or M107 support. Our next goal is to get a convoy going with our vehicles.

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

I already do this. Except I just take what I need, flatten the tents, and blow up the vehicles. I don't want to risk leaving anything on the coast for a bandit to easily find. I have also adopted a shoot-on-sight policy for armed individuals. If you have a hatchet armed, I may make an exception and let you go.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

That'll teach you for having a car showroom. Honestly, hacking sucks but I find it hard to sympathise with someone who has hoarded all these vehicles.
  6. Just found 7 vehicles outside the map. Took me about 3 hours to get em all to my base, but damn, dat guy will be mad.
  7. Quite a few of my friends and I started playing DayZ a few weeks back and we've enjoyed the hell out of the game. Or we were. Now we're all exceptionally frustrated with it's current state, nearly to the point of leaving the game until the stand-alone comes out. If I get killed by someone with a sniper rifle because I ventured into "their" territory, fine. If I get into a gunfight over a can of beans and bleed to death, so be it. If I get careless and aggro a whole mess of zombies, I can accept the consequences. What I can't stand though, is all of the cheating that's going on. Aimbots, ESP, being killed from the map, etc.; the list goes on and it seems like nothing is being done to address it. There are websites dedicated to exploiting this wonderful game, simply because they can, and "It's part of ARMA II" as an explanation doesn't go very far. What's the point of looking for vehicles, searching for supplies, and getting the gear you really want, when it can be taken away in a second due to some game jerk using a hack? Things like this will KILL interest in DayZ, which would be a truly sad thing, as it's one of the most enjoyable games we've played in a long time. Active admins on a server can be a good front-line against this sort of behavior, IF they were able to ban players for this sort of activity... but they can't. In fact, we've heard that admins are getting even more restrictions on what they can do, so what's the point of even hosting a server? All that's doing is providing a place for other people to play in, and if honest players have to put up with the hacks and cheats and exploits... They. Will. Leave. Who's left? The people ruining the game. We started hosting a server, as we were hoping to create a more honest, stable play environment, but then we're told that we can't ban people for using hacks, only if their ping is too high. That's crap. If BattleEye can't catch the things people are doing, it should be up to server admins to do it, even if it only affects their server. We're talking about shutting our server down soon and moving on to a different game, which is highly disappointing, especially with as many people as I've told about this formerly amazing, currently frustrating game.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

This. Same deal with us. 6 vehicles, all miles and miles apart in various remote locations, 10 tents, all gone within hours. Nobody is that lucky or unlucky. Nobody. If you do a bit of google research, you will find that the Arma II engine does most of the work for the hackers. They simply turn on functions already existing in the game. Someone in another thread linked this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQSf3-cYWUo There are hackers in all games, but the problem with Arma II is that there are public downloadable .exe programs b/c BI is severely inadequate.

They are not YOUR vehicles. Glad you lost them.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

To the one that say it's stupid to keep so many vehicles: With my very small group of people, we have 3 vehicles. One of them found and repaired, one that was picked close to a tent, and the last one stolen after shooting the pilot. We hid them well. For the three of those, we made efforts. Repairs, time searched, fighting. We use them frequently. We maintain them as to use them requires fuel. A lot of fuel as to hide them, we have to go far through offroad. They could be stolen any time. When we are logged off, or simply when we're moving them around. People could follow us and find our hiding places thanks to the motor sounds. Now, dare say we don't diserve to use them and should share for the common good, simply because you are annoyed that, as you never stay in the same server, you can't spot the habbits of its inhabitants. And if you do have the same serve all of the time, search better.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

In that second video, when you're on the hill looking at that URAL and other vehicles. Is that before you stole it? Or afterwards. Because if it's afterwards, then you're either using hacked equipment that belonged to someone prior to you, or you were the group that actually scripted it into the game. No gun in the game uses the .338 Lapau Magnum cartridge. The L115 uses it but it's not in DayZ. Let's hope you just stole the vehicle with it already "onboard" so to speak, and even so.. you should of deleted it by now hopefully. Even though you can't be banned for finding hacked equipment, so says Rocket, if you have ethics, you'd of deleted it hopefully,
  12. Hello, I am a member of the S.W.A.G mercenary group, and we offer services to help the modern survivor make it in the wasteland without the feeling of been defenseless. With countless hours spent making sure our shots rival nearly any expectations, we can guarantee that anyone using our services will make it from the run we are covering, no worse for wear. Bandits will not be a problem, and we even offer protection from vehicles, which are a very serious threat to the everyday scavenger. With a squad to cover you, you will no longer have to fear the bandit that stalks the shadows, and will feel confident that your beans will remain YOURS. Based on what the customer finds on said run and the difficulty of keeping security, charges may vary, to help both the customer and the squad running at optimal levels. Please leave a reply or PM me if you have need of said services.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

I'm another person who finds vehicle hoarding laughable. I guess I just don't see the need for 8 vehicles unless you're preventing anyone else on the server from ever having one. I mean, I have 3 or 4 now in our camp, but I have no reason to find any more unless someone steals them. I'm not going to knock you or anyone for having that many, it's just personal opinion.
  14. the reason people shoot on sight is because they dont need each other whatsoever and the risk of the other player shooting you first is always there. thats why you end up shooting them and not worrying about them cause they are of no use to you. what if you could start off with 1 special skill that you choose at the spawning. These skills would allow you to do things that others without the skills cannot do. These skills could be taught to other players by interacting with them thus sharing knowledge. Maybe an action you use on a player and over time of being around them the skill would be learned from being around that other player. Some of these skills could be: Starting a fire (without matches) Gutting and cleaning an animal Mechanics (ability to repair cars and vehicles) Water Purifying (The ability to fill water bottles with water) Melee fighting (the ability to kill zombies with one strike from a melee weapon) Medic (The ability to perform blood transfusions) Sneak (The ability to aggravate zombies less frequently) Anyways. Im not saying that these have to be the skills or that other skills wouldnt be welcome (these are just examples). All I am saying is that it would be a really good reason to promote player interaction when you really need each other to help make things easier for each other. This is just an idea and I dont think its perfect. It's the concept I am trying to promote. Maybe the mechanic to teach a player your skill would be an action you select that enables the teaching and then performing the actual action. For example: If I meet a player and then click on an action on his character called "Teach Fire Starting" it allows the other player to acquire that "Fire Starting" if they are around me when I start a fire.

    Watching a Helicopter Crash

If you go place a chopper in the editor, along with a jeep hidden in a forest (say, at someone's secret campsite), then the chopper can pick up the jeep using it's radar fairly easily... which means that once you find a fuelled chopper, your friends can steal all the other vehicles on the server.

All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?

These kids giving people crap for "hoarding" vehicles are a slight bit on the troll side.
  17. US331 suffers from random server restarts and difficulty changes. Not only that, but me and my friends have also come across a camp that had 20+ ak's, 20+ m16's, 20+ mags for each, plus mass amounts of food and other supplies which we think were duplicated. After destroying the camp, the map was marked with random insults and a mark was placed directly on our camp which said "Home Base". Nothing at our camp had been touched or stolen, and we were very far off grid so I do not believe anyone would just find it and mark it without looting the valuables from it and vehicles.

    Need a Rangefinder!

anyone else willing to trade for some Rangefinders? I guess they can only be found in the barracks of NW airfield from what i've heard, I have yet to see any in game and I've come accross tons of stuff. Also does anyone know if you drop your binoculars to pick up or does it just automatically override them? I don't mind finding another pair obv but don't want to lose the Rangefinders or something stupid if I equip, this game is known for eating items. I have access to the following and would be willing to trade: NVG GPS Entrenching Tool (Don't have any sandbags tho) M249 AS50 DMR M107 M24 M4A1 CCO SD FN FAL ANPV S4 L85A2 AWS M9SD List seems crazy I know but I play with a group so it's a collective, vehicles help that too. It's possible I may be able to spare a clip or two for said guns, but check with me first please. Let me know if interested in a trade, I can be trusted, hope you can too! EDIT: also just remembered I desperately need a ghilie suit too, mine got lost with update. I would trade any of said items above for a ghillie suit as well. Thanks in advance

    Finding Vehicles

My group and I find vehicles on a daily basis. We also lose vehicles every other day. Vehicles exchange hands alot more frequently than you think.
  20. Vehicles both still there. I'd say it's pretty much confirmed that vehicle cleanup isn't working.
  21. A friend and I were really digging the game, then hackers ruined pc games for me again. We were playing on us78 nwo server, had a good spot, campsite, water source, off the beaten path. My friend got lucky and found a motorcycle. A day later I was playing and a shortage of vehicles was being discussed in chat. I mentioned "they are out there because my friend found a bike", then an admin types, "who the f are you and why do you have a bike?" Then the server suddenly reboots, I log back in and whaddya know, the map has changed to pitch darkness and full rain, completely blind for everyone. I actually managed my way back to camp and was about to jump on the bike and take off to prevent the theft when suddenly I am spawned nearly off map in the middle of nowhere. Just tonight I tried another server, us 383. I was going for the heli in rog por, NE of electro and found that interesting castle and decided to explore. Walking up the steps I thought I must have bugged out and fell, breaking my legs. Luckily I had the needed supplies. After patching up I decided to head up the castle steps again, found some loot, and on my way back down I heard footsteps. I could see there was no-one inside so I crouched aiming at the only entrance. Then I hear, "boo" and an invisible player shoots me standing right next to me. I was really enjoying the game but the sociopaths have struck again. Is there some kind of xbox conspiracy to make people hate online pc games? Or are there really that many losers who will sneak around by themselves for hours just to get one hack kill, and get to say their epic little one liner. I think the most profitable pc game could be the one that somehow can fully prevent hacks, but how? Video streaming based? Best they could do with that is some shape or color recognition hack. Oh well, sorry for the downer winy story. I'm bummed man, was having alot of fun. Oh well, hail satan I guess.

Do you think there should be more vehicles?

Do I want there to be more vehicles? Yes. Do I think there should be more vehicles? No. It is their scarcity that makes them so special. If everyone had one, the feeling of pure adrenaline would not be there when you finally heard that engine sound for the first time, or slipped out on to the road and hit 100 kph for the first time. Some things should be rare. It makes them special. And memorable. And DayZ is all about making memories. I will remember my first vehicle forever. Literally. No joke. That first time I glanced over into the trees and saw the glint of the sun off of that Land Rover parked in the pines. My precise Winchester slug that pierced the eardrum of the driver and left him bleeding out while I jumped in and tooted the horn. And that sound. The rum-rum-rum-rum budda-budda-budda and driving out into the sunset and on to the road and nothing I could do could wipe that smile off my face. Let them stay rare. When you finally find one you will thank me. There are no "special" locations. There are just locations. If vehicles are there, you can find them. The map isn't as large as it seems. Grab a couple friends and head to the northern forests. Run around and keep your eyes open. You will be in a vehicle before the sun comes up I promise you.
  23. I would like to see some more. It seems like those that have the vehicles hoard them in a special location. Maybe not trucks but at least ATV's or motobikes
  24. I have no idea if the spawn rates should be increased because on most servers they are being hoarded by clans or small groups so I never get to see/feel out what the spawn rates are actually like! I've seen 1 bus and that was being used by a clan. If anything, I would like to see hoarding addressed and then maybe we can talk about spawn rates. Maybe at least increase ATV/bike amounts of servers to more players a chance to check out what vehicles are like :/
