Well from all the fresh fruit on store shelves, the nice and shiny(ish) V3Ss and the lights staying on at night it seems that Day Zero happened recently enough that we would have power and cell systems, possibly internet. But from the cars that are rusted out like their 30 years old and all that suggests that Day Zero took place quite awhile ago. But... And this is my 2¢, what if the burnt out cars and tanks and general crappy quality of things is because Day Zero took place shortly after the events of ArmA 2, explains the wreckage of burnt and rusted out vehicles, as well as why powers on. Too little time for the cleanup to finish, not long enough for power to fail.

With things disappearing from the roadmap, it's more of a case of things being written more broadly. Bikes and boats fall under vehicles. Snow falls under weather. Not everything is going to be listed in the roadmap - that would be ridiculous. As for things taking longer than stated, that has happened a few times, sure. But the roadmap is, essentially, written as 'best case'. That's rather obvious to most, I feel, and saying that the devs should be able to follow a timeline perfectly is ridiculous. Nothing that I can think of was delayed that much (it's mostly been one or two patches later), besides the renderer, which was down for Q1 of this year. That was delayed for a good reason. One that benefits us. (DX11 and 12 support, rather than 9 and 11) I'm not saying that critics can't criticize the game, but it's also just as important for people to be able to point out the flaws in their argument. The idea that the game is being developed slowly is unfounded and just the opposite of reality. It's that simple. What the devs hope for is irrelevant in that, because it just is. It's not really nit picking, you're trying to fault the devs in any way you can, and I'm simply rebutting your arguments. They never said that it was going to be released as beta in 2014. They always maintained the roadmaps as goals, not fact (literally the only way they could lay out a roadmap that was set in stone would be if they could see the future). They've developed this game a whole lot since initial release and they've done it quickly. That's all I'm arguing for.

End Of DayZ is a community on a private hive for with a no KoS rule for roleplayers on our own ARMA 2 OA Mod, with a community attached onto a forum. The Mod includes custom weapons, custom vehicles, custom skins as well as a custom loot table. In addition we have a set of bases built by our map development team. Roleplay on this server takes the forefront, being supported by a strong rule set which are enforced by our experienced staff team. We also have a white list in place which is reasonably quick to complete but also efficient in filtering people who have read the rules. Engine development takes longer, normally. Much longer. I have seen a lot of people complain about how slow DayZ is being developed, in their eyes, and I think that, honestly, the opposite is true. Most original games take two or three years to build, even using a completed engine and just adding on to it with mechanics, asset creation and similar tasks. This means that the game development and release alone takes two years or so for most games. DayZ is not most games, firstly. The servers are smaller than most other MMO's, but DayZ is absolutely comparable, development wise, to other MMO(rpg)'s. MMO's tend to take even longer to develop - more like four or five years at a minimum. But the DayZ dev team isn't even just developing an MMO in the normal way... They're pretty much rebuilding an entire engine while developing the game on this incomplete engine. Look how far the game has come over the last year and a half. You might claim that it's the same, like many, but to name just a few things: Network bubble, increasing performance. CLE, completely changing the looting system. Animals Hunting Farming Fishing Crafting Large scale map changes Zombie AI Animal AI Tonnes of different items Countless bug fixes Incredible Anti-Cheat improvements Vehicles Persistence And that is a just few of the more visible things. Under the hood, there's the physics engine, the multi threading, 64 bit support and new renderer to name a few things that they've been working on almost this whole time. A lot of this is coming fairly close to completion/initial testing release, too. When you actually compare the development of DayZ to anything else, taking in to account the fact that they are building an engine at the same time, for an MMO, it is downright ridiculous to claim that development is slow. Look in to it if you don't believe me. They're actually going pretty damned fast, especially considering that nothing quite like DayZ has ever been done before.

Amazing server. Great and helpful admins. More militarized vehicles and choppers than you can imagine and the missions are really good fun. Do yourself a favor and bring your squad to this server. -

What about oil rigs on sea, you should only be able to get to them if you have a boat, helicopter (once they added these vehicles) or a v3s submarine. The oil rigs should'nt contain much loot but they would be a good place to build your base. What do you guys think?

I was playing BI titles since ARMA1. I believe flashpoint hit the stores same month Max Payne did. I cant complain, Max Payne was a great game for that time with a really nice comic story telling. It looked so real on my Voodoo3 3500. Then there was OPF. I remember reading one of the early interviews with bohemia developers in PCgamer. Open mil sim with enterable vehicles that you can drive, and even see counters on the drivers panel. Balistics and sound delays, squad commands (when you see the flash it's already too late ;) )and so on. Being a...13-14 yr old kid, i didnt even know it's possible to make such a game and when i first tried it...i loved every second of it :) Injuries, broken legs, one shot kills, sway... the "realism" of this game bought me on the spot. Singleplayer campaing was on of the best gaming experiences i ever had and even tho some might find this a bit sentimental, no other tittle made me enjoy being a "just a soldier" in a war noone wants it. The "Armstrong, this is Papa bear, EVAC @zulu x hrs mission be there or GG" was one of my favourites. I was huggin trees, terrified of Armed patrools, BMPs & even some choppers patroling the area whilst you had to sneak thru was really something i strongly missed in arma2. (i got that later with the great addons) I never got that hopeless feeling of a "that's it, we're fu***". It's mostly because you don't get to play the role of the lowest ranking soldier who's everyones bi***. Don't get me wrong it was a great game and i spent yet another thousands of hrs in it. Anyway, not gonna lie, when i was a kid, i could not afford games. I could afford a PCgamer mag. (two old ones for the price of one) and try demos. Or... do the dev:0 pirates:1 thingy. Forgive me and let's pretend i was just a very aware consumer who needed a couple of thousand hr trial :P I always felt like i own BI(well, the people there) to buy the tittles i played for thousands of hrs and spend thousands of hrs in their best-ever-mission-editors. I also wanted the friggin legit copies for the obvious MP. Years passed by when I finaly bought the OPF;GOTY edition and a year later ARMA2+AO. Just when i was about to purchase arma3 after playing alpha (Would anyone believe me, i didnt like the less-clunky arma3?) i saw dayz. I probably saw it on reddit, i dont remember. Watching dayz stream, my first thought was "OPF". Alone, helpless, just trying to survive and get thru the "war". Besides, i was always a fan of hardcore modes(MUD, Diablo, crazy ivan, etc), where you loose EVERYTHING uppon death. Knowing it's a BI tittle i just said "fk it" and cashed out, because despite all the "alpha warnings" i was pretty sure what im getting myself into. (the arma bugs just never got me to the point of quitting. its just different if something buggs out on open world "simulator" then buggin in linear singleplayer pewpewpew game) I was sure im gonna love it and i was right :P 10/10 would buy again. tldr: i bought it 'cause i knew ill enjoy it.

It's already an "authentic" DayZ minus the vehicles and people are not very keen on that. If they leave the idea of looting everything in cities/towns this game will die before you know it. It's already boring when you're fully geared and there is nothing else to do besides PVP. The reason why DayZ will never be like rust or any other game is because of it's mechanics and functionality. Me and my friend spread out in hopes to find something to eat or some kind of loot in general. So that we can meet up and travel. For the farming part. I had water, I had fertilizer but it didn't give me the option to water it or anything. I though I will plat it and disconnect for 10-20 mins to come back and get some fresh vegetables. Ashwood trees are only commonly found in Berezino or NW of the map. And finally They only said they don't want the sky bases not bases in general. Hello there, Been playing DayZ/Zero for the past 3 or 4 years with over 5k hours in total, among other mods. I have a few suggestions that could improve gameplay, and I'd like to share some of them and see the feedback. 1) Fog Fog is not the first in the list because I think it's the most serious or annoying, but simply the first one that came to mind. I don't mind a fog + rain that is so intense you can see only 10m in front of you. In fact I think it rather adds a lot of immersion and tension, adds to the gameplay. However, the feeling lately is that 9 times out of 10 you log in, the fog is restricting your view to 300m or less. Me and my team had the habit of always carrying a sniper as a secondary weapon, however this fog issue is so frequent that we've been leaving the snipers at the stash. Suggestion: Make the fog as intense as you want, but set the frequency similar to real life. I'd say around 15-20% of the time is a good start, and we tune more from there. 2) M14/DMR The M14 variants are semi-automatic weapons, and the rate of fire (in real life) is between 700 and 750 rounds a minute. In game, the rate of fire is very similar, with the weapon being able to empty the 20-round magazine in a little under 2 seconds. However... in game, the recoil is almost non-existent. I've just recorded this to illustrate: This renders the M14: More common than the MK48 More precise than the MK48 A LOT less recoil than the MK48 Much easier to find ammo If you consider the fact the M14 uses a 7.62×51mm NATO, currently the most powerful cartridge in the game, this makes the weapon overpowered in terms of gameplay ballance. There's really no reason to ever use another weapon: you can spray it for close, medium and long range targets with the same effectiveness. No wonder 8 out of every 10 players we come across is carrying an M14/DMR. Suggestion: increase the recoil of the M14/DMR so it's no longer possible to precisely spray 20 rounds in 2 seconds over any distance. Currently, I hardly ever see players going for precise shots, nobody practicing to increase their accuracy, since they can spray-to-win. Cheap strategy being used by most. 3) Ammo relog Sort of linked to the issue above. If players have an infinite amount of ammo, they spray-to-win instead of trying to be accurate. I assume that in a post-apocalyptic scenario, ammo is hard to come by, the game should reflect that. I really like what VJ has done by adding 5 min ghosting to prevent (or at least annoy) players practicing this shameful behavior. I'd, however, make ghosting longer, maybe 15 mins. I'd love to hear from a developer if this can be fixed, as it's the most abused and game-ruining bug/glitch at the moment. 4) Bases It's fairly new, I haven't used it myself, nor am I interested in, but I do like and approve new content. However, making bases indestructible (or close to) can affect the mod negatively. I hope I'm wrong, but I do worry about it quite a bit. I hope not to see most people building their bases and hoarding all vehicles inside, using them only every now and then to go collect supplies. This is not epoch. Nothing more exciting to hear a car coming on the road, or a helicopter dropping some troops to get action in around your area. But lately it seems like people are more interested in protecting their "property", not allowing others to use the vehicles instead of using it themselves. For the mod not to die, we need action. We need people running around, vehicles driving, helicopters flying, things exploding. I've noticed a great decrease of action up north after the latest patches added the option to build bases. Again, I hope I'm wrong, I hope I see some change soon, respect to those who wish to spend their time building, just please don't camp in there all day. (Example from a conversation with a server admin: I thought maybe the hitpoints were too high, when me and a friend used a satchel charge on Vybor base, only 2 walls were destroyed from that huge explosion, and when we got in, we tossed a grenade at a ladder, nothing happened. Then we proceeded to empty several magazines of ammo on it, nothing. And to finish it off, we hacked at it with hatchets for good 5 minutes, both of us simultaneously, and nothing happened. We thought either it's indestructible or just waaaay too high hitpoints, in which case nobody would bother trying to destroy, which is what I tried to say.) Suggestion: Make walls/gates easier to be destroyed, and damage to be carried post-restart. If there's no reason to upkeep your fortress, then what's the point? 5) Temperature system At the moment, it's sketchy. When it was first introduced, everybody was shivering their bones and stuck around fireplaces or inside houses. If the players are not able to worry about anything else other than their temperature and afraid of getting infected, then there's no action. Everybody inside, away, empty fields. Nobody running around NWAF afraid of catching a cold :mrgreen: Seems like the temperature system is a bit better after the latest patches, but it's still inconsistent and weird at times. You can run like a madman for 30 mins straight and still have your temperature dropping like crazy, only to lay prone in the grass 10 minutes later and have your temp rise again. What? Would be nice to have some explanation about the temperature system and how it really works, so we have a clue about how to manage it. Does it increase with the weight you're carrying? I'm assuming if you're running for 20 mins with 20kg of equipment in your back, you'd be overheating regardless of how cold it is. That's it for now, but I can add more if you guys have any other issue/suggestion. Please discuss like gentlemen, let's not start throwing wrenches, everybody is entitled to an opinion. Thank you!

At DN has four servers... DN | Epoch Chernarus DN | Overpoch Chernarus DN | Overpoch Lingor DN | Overpoch Chernarus (ArmA III) The servers are completely unique in that we have a custom map, permanent AI missions (e.g. Bandit Island and Bandit camps), custom trade cities, custom trading system and so on. We currently have a into/from backpack and vehicle system for player's ease and players can select the quantity of items they wish for. I (an admin) am always active on our TeamSpeak channel in which I'm actively available to poke for any help. There are active events such as bounty-hunts and a Zombie Campaign in which players battle to gain the most amount of kills and along the way earn prizes for certain amount of kills they get. The servers are completely unique and are being updated based on players feedback and suggestions every single few days. So even if you come and don't like the server, recommend something to add and we will! Here's a list of features found throughout all four servers... Hello guys, right now im gonna give some idea to developers of this game hope they implement it. Okey lets get started. What was main reason (i mean main quest of the game to close) to play Dayz mod previously? Main quest: 1. Survive on coast, go to middle of the map (Stary sobor) kill contenders, and gear up, go to NWAF - kill contenders, gear up and survive. Next entirely different thing: 2. Go to industrial zone, collect all that you need to repair a car, FIND a car, repair a car, explore all places of the Chernarus in the car! 3. Same thing with a helicopter but much more difficult to achieve at first try. The next big step: 4. Create band of 2-3 people, riding on a car, collect ALL possible cars and vehicles in one place so another 45-47 peoples on the server will be doing Olympic maraphone all the time. 5. Not much usual, survive so much dayZ as possible, couse days you survive is visible to you. 6. Find cars base of that as**es above in punkt 4. and BLOW THEM UP! 7. and much much more. So my idea is: In dayz sa you basically much of the time doing this: looting some houses and running between towns. Lets imagine if your character once created on this server - he cant DISAPPEAR from the server - he become part of this place. So your character just goes down on the ground, sit or sleep while you not connected to the server - and consume the energy, AND eat and drink all stuff you collect with him. Its not first thing in the list to develop RIGHT, i know it, but in short term: you grab some paper and pen, every day your character goes throught, he automatially write: how much days survived, how much peoples encountered, how much zombie killed , ALL stats i mean. SO AFTER you geared up, you gonna loot some houses, kill some animals, defend yourself from bandit encouters and go offline. AND REPEAT TOMORROW. After few days it will be much more harder to throw it away going to death zones. Every day you connect - it will be much more exciting to survive another session of the game. Because the main problem if you solve main quest of the game (right now its collect all military gear) you cant do sh*t literally. You just go to Electro and die randomly to start the quest again. No value in the game. So how do you like this idea people? TL;DR in short: Player create character on particular server. Character cannot disappear from it because its a part of the "world" right now. When player is offline - character consume food and drinks that he have in inventory, and mostly sit and sleep With pen and paper automatically will be recorded most stats of this hero each day.Result: 1) Player have a new goal to achieve: survive as much days as possible. 2) The more days Hero survived, more difficult to throw it away doing some suicidal running to Electro. 3)Each player game session will be more exciting after and after days he survive. Imagine conversation between friends:A: how much days you survive in Dayz?B: 12 atmA: and how much people you meet during survival? (been close to 15-10 meters in 10 seconds or shooting each over at whatever distance)B: 10A: lol i live 30 days and encouner 100 people (hard to believe seriously) Let me know, write your thoughts. and you have every right to do that and if you wanna kill yourself to achieve that goal so be it. but to add spawn or a way to choose your spawn is just weak don't you get more satisfaction out of earning everything not just by looting but from your kills if your were allowed to spawn where you wanted wouldn't it make the game seem shallow and the rewards/battles not as tense or adrenaline filled because hey you can just spawn right back no need to becareful maybe i'm wrong probably thats just the way i would feel plus i'm sure when modders get ahold of this the first thing they add will be the ability to spawn where you want as well as 100+ vehicles and starting gear such as M4 just wait you'll have your day.

My favourite too. Seem to recall the devs dismissing it, however, on the grounds that Chernarus isn't an island. Honestly I'd rather the 'lore' be bent a little bit rather than be faced with an endless nothing. Certainly things like chasms with broken bridges, mountains with blocked tunnels and so on would also be cool, though hardly an obstacle for air vehicles.

I just realized something, try taking all those fireplaces out, stack them around a building so when the next pvp happens you can block them with fireplaces. ive seen it done with vehicles, but I thought of the invisible fireplaces. Works great watching someone run on the spot and you mow them down. lol busted!

The hosting company I am using to host my Dayz 1.8.5 server normally only hosts Epoch so they aren't real familiar with Dayz. They installed all of the SQL functions and procedures and the main thing I was concerned with, vehicle spawns, worked. Since then I updated the "DECLARE MaxVehicles INT DEFAULT" line in the pSpawnVehicles to increase the number of vehicles that should spawn. The problem is that it doesn't appear that any new vehicles have spawned so I am unsure if these functions and procedures are working. How can I ensure they are running? Is changing that line in the SQL all I should need to increase the vehicle count on the server?

I've been playing tons of vanilla Dayz Mod, but im really looking for a server that has custom weapons.Oh and vehicles too. I mean stuff like the Mi-24, VW Golf, C-130s, Lapuna Magnums, gold AKS's and AS-50s. I dont want a overpoch, maybe an epoch, but preferably the orginal mod, and in that case, almost completely vanilla apart from that. Plz, i found a few, but they are from 2012, and dont exist any more.

Map: NAPF Public Server: 40 max players (Mature server) IP: 198.24.184.37 (copy and paste this in DAYZ Launcher) HIGH FPS. ADVANCED TRADING. Dynamic AI missions, (Wicked AI and custom admin missions) Custom Gold Mining mission nodes and roaming AI vehicles (who attack zombies and other AI.) Base raiding encouraged. MORE VEHICLES!! New players are given an SUV and 2 cases of gold as a promotional offer and will be discontinued soon. No plot pole needed to build. Claim any vehicle on the map and use one master key for all vehicles. MAKE COPIES of master key to limit locking yourself out!!! 6 hour restart Day/Night cycle. 4 hrs daytime 2 hours night time. Store coins in safes or hide it in vehicles tents barrels etc. NO BANKS IN ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. AI may have gold, coins or gems randomly. AI skins may be taken. Deploy items using Citrine gems (base items like laptop, table chairs, benches shelves etc.) Light poles deer stands and canvas tops can be built using correct ingredients. Spawn select with custom VIP load-outs and base spawn. Active admin very friendly. I met him a couple months ago. TOTALLY OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. I came to him and asked him about advanced trading and he had it in his server two days later :-) He needs help too if anyone has admin experience and is willing to help. I'm mostly excited for the new technology of the player controller , inventory , and renderer are all put in 100% , when that happens so many good things will come : limping system and our characters won't die from a 6 ft fall , inventory for vehicles and no more inventory Tetris, much smoother client to server response and hopefully better graphics and fps from dx11-12 ! For features I can't wait for : barricading/basebuilding., advanced vehicles , predator animals, aerial animals like birds (big ones for hunting, and flocks) underwater to get an overhaul and complete life added ... And finally hordes of zombies that attack windows and doors ... Also with the new player controller / skeleton being added I can't wait to see things like climbing through windows and jumping off of high heights with a proper fall animation ! Lots of great things to come , also on a holiday note I hope the developers pay more attention to Halloween this year and tie in some spooky Easter eggs into the game :) !
