Don't really like the idea of a new map, but. I do want a lot more "end game content". I got a good primary weapon and ammo for it, got a good pistol and ammo for it, I got an alice pack, I have all the utility items except GPS and range finder, I got a few items of each medical supply, and got plenty of food and water. I found I don't need to really play now, I check in every couple days to see if my guy still has food and drink(cause that drains even while offline if I'm not mistaken). I guess I can kill zombies, but their zigzag running makes it an activity that even a good player can't do that very safely. I'm a good person too, so I don't want to hunt players. I could try to find a gillie suit and GPS - but dat drop rate. I could repair vehicles, but those just make you a target more than they help imo. The best suggestion I can make is a "rebuilding" feature more for houses than vehicles. The ability to put together water purifiers(mater pond water undrinkable without running it though a charcoal and sand filter), building a generator(out of an engine, fuel, and a couple alternators), etc etc.

Dear Rocket, first i was skeptic about DayZ, so i tried it out by buying Arma:CO and it was worth it, but theres one thing that is a bit sucky. I mean the Vehicles. 17 vehicles for such a big map isn't much, especially when a group of 4-8 players hord all the vehicles. Will be there more vehicle spawns in the future? So that even a newbie has a chance getting a vehicle at the start and doesn't has to search for hours on the map end in forests for a vehicle camp. Maybe more UAZ? Or much more Skodas and Wolgas, because they were pretty common in the old UDSSR. What about those damn roadblocks and destroyed vehicles? Isn't there a bit too much of them blocking the entire road so you are forced to drive around the entire town. I hope you will answer my Question. Greetings from Switzerland

How long do cars last, and what is considered "off map?"
dms (DayZ) replied to Mjolnir (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All the blood bags, Stanag mags, m14s in the world arent gonna stop me from stealing your vehicle. Most people have all that, most people dont have vehicles. -

Anyone take a big transport VZ3 civilian truck from a forest on US 382?
Slyguy65 replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
no this was just last night...we hid it and logged now its gone the tent vanished but then the server restarted off schedule and the tent was back...nothing in it...and the truck has yet to reappear...it really feels like servers have just been plain broken recently, but ya like i said. Are there any "safe" servers that don't erase loot like tents and vehicles cause every server i try starting a base on seems to F me over. -
Oh and also, I would really like to add something. I noticed you seem to like "The Walking Dead" series and there is one suggestion I have for you. You know that scene where there is a traffic jam with all the cars? That would be a really nice implementation to the map. Only a few of these cars would be repairable or they could all be non-repairable vehicles some filled with trash some filled with some good loot. This place would have loot that you would imagine people taking when they are fleeing during an apocalypse (food, drinks, maps, knives, backpacks, tents, etc.) Just an idea.

US750 Kicking Players without cause
landshark replied to dark6-6's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Kicking people off a server (forcing them to exit the game) is the highest form of 'stopping that' available. To say otherwise would be insanity. Unfortunately for you, the DayZ server/admin rules were not made up in 'your mind', they were explicitly spelled out by Rocket. I could quote the list of rules that you broke, but someone has already done that in this thread. Ultimately, you very well 100% without any doubt broke the rules. There -zero- reason to dispute that, because it's fact. Please cite the rule that explains how hoarding is not allowed. For all my time spent reading the rules, I've never come across one. At the time of this writing, there isn't one, and again this is fact, so no reason to dispute it with the game players. Disputing it with Rocket would be a better avenue for your frustration and I'm surprised you haven't done so (if you have, then I'm not aware of it). The word "fair" could never be used to describe DayZ. Obviously you have played Dayz, is any of it fair? This game is a sandbox griefers paradise and Rocket is well aware of that, he even boasts it! It's also one of the selling points of DayZ and arguably enhances the excitement while playing, because you never know who to trust, but can still benefit from working together with other players (which is exactly what CQF did). Also, did you bother to even ask the CQF members if you could have some of the vehicles or equipment they were 'hoarding'? If the players on a DayZ server are causing the gameplay to get frustrating for you, there are hundreds of other DayZ servers to join instead. Just like CQF has the option to join any server they want, so do you. All I understand is that some DayZ players weren't playing the game the way you want them to, and so you kicked them off the server. That's really what it comes down to. They did so by not breaking any rules. Instead of switching servers or asking for their help, etc you chose to kick them off. You are the one who ruined it for everyone, because your actions have lead to the server coming down permanently (as you have stated, the server will not be renewed). Had you simply approached them in a mature manner this would have all been worked out for everyone's best interest. CQF is a well known FRIENDLY clan willing to help those who need or ask for it. However, when CQF is approached by hostility (i.e. being kicked off the server) you should expect some kind of retaliation, be it the creation of this thread or having more CQF join your server to cause some in-game havoc. That sounds like it's a great tactic! I'm glad CQF is using it, it means their camps are hopefully safer than if they had placed it somewhere more populated or well traveled. When I join a server, this is my mindset, "I'm going to gather as much helpful equipment as possible in the safest and most efficient way possible. I will then create a base for me to use in case I need to re-supply myself." All of the CQF actions fall within that mindset. The term 'hoarding' is kind of a junk term. The act of efficiently searching an area for supplies is just that, an efficient use of time and a great way to ensure in-game sustainability and character/clan life. The term 'hoarding' is used to describe that efficient use of time. -

I'd keep checking Sly. I've had vehicles disappear and upon a restart they show back up. -
My initial thoughts: Great to hear you're finally logging data on how to fix the disconnect during combat exploit. However, I think that the bad reputation -> warnings -> bans are severely flawed. Unfortunately, the mod just isn't stable enough for this type of system to work. There are many combinations of server settings, some aren't even listed on the server name in the browser (or sometimes, they are just wrong, like when using DayZ Commander) - and sometimes I log in to a server I think will be good, but turns out it is actually 100% blackout dark. Or, crosshairs will be off when they say they are on, etc etc. Sometimes I will connect to a server after a very long time period, only to find that the server is lagged beyond belief and I'm getting 5 fps. Punishing people who are trying to play on a specific type of server doesn't seem right. Also, I'm sure people who are willing to disconnect during a fight would do it every single time they need to, and just take a break while the cooldown expires. A better solution, as discussed would be just the logout delay (I know you have mentioned this is being implemented). I also realize that no bans will be given from disconnecting at this point, I just don't think you should move forward with that solution until there is a way to reduce the amount of false positives it will generate. Suggesting a review ticket system would just be swarmed with thousands of appeals, anywhere within a large spectrum of innocent to guilty. As far as the suicide controversy goes - I'm pretty sure if players want to respawn somewhere near a group/town they're just going to run into the water until they die (you can drown in this game right?), or just aggro some zombies until they kill themselves... Don't see how removing the respawn button prevents constant respawning tbh Glad to hear helicopters and clothing will be returning. Moar vehicles and different skins/paperdolls add a great touch to the mod.

US750 Kicking Players without cause
dark6-6 replied to dark6-6's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So, honestly, I agree with you on a lot of points. I know, as one of our now ex members rented a server on his own and kicked players for doing things he didn't like, that this can blow up in your face really quickly. I believe server admins should have powers to run their stuff as "carebear" as they like. Even have servers with no PvP, where you can all safely go to Cherno if you want and use the NVG's and Mk 48's you farmed to do glorious battle with hordes of undead as you circle overhead in your chopper without fear of getting shot down. The thing I took issue with is the manner my Clan member was addressed. Honestly, CQF is made of people who work cooperatively and enjoy PvE. My group responds to requests for help from people that aren't even in our clan, which I'm sure you can imagine is about as risky as Running through Cherno with a lit flare at night blazing dubstep through direct channel. I joined just to see if I could find an Admin to get more details as to why they were being kicked and take those issues to my superiors if you felt they were being rude or if you'd had a bad experience. If you didn't like what was going on, all that would have been needed is a "Hey, I would appreciate if you would leave vehicles for other players as my smaller group would like to work on them." Not only would I have agreed, I would have posted a notice on our board and then gave you a hand if you'd like. Instead, I get chainkicked and called a faggot by your admin. Honestly, my first instinct would be to go in there and start using your boys for target practice. That isn't my deal though. Instead, I would extend an invite to one of our servers, and if you'd like a chance to play with us to get a feel for how our group works. I'd like a chance to apologize for how our group's actions made you feel. I assure you it wasn't intentional, and I'm the last person to bitch at admins. I hope that you continue to run your server in the manner that you see fit and can continue to enjoy the company of your peers. I also hope that this will help you reconsider your stance on my group, and maybe one of these days, when you get a broken leg and you need some help, maybe I'll be there with a blood bag and some morphine to help you out. That's what the CQF is all about. -
Green Mountain Survivors [GMS] Clan and twitch radio station.

This is an application for three people actually; we are all interested in becoming GMS members Names: Chris / Jason / Patrick Age: 31, 35, 36 In game name: Warlord_Bob / Dax_Scrim / PWheeler Steam Id: War Lord Bob / Dax Scrim / patrick.w.wheeler Desired combat role (Medic, sniper, exc): Long range expedition squad. (multi-role) Why we would like to join: We've been roaming by ourselves with no server or clan to call home. We would love to join a larger community and really get more out of this already great game. We've always had the mindset to avoid talking lives unless required to do so, and even helping the wayward traveler if they allow us to do so. What can you offer to the clan: Defence of Green Mountain. Joining the clan for events and down time as well as providing the community with our services and supplies whenever needed. Reporting locations of crash sites and vehicles. Gathering equipment, supplies and ammo on request (clan wish list). -
Experiment: Hero of Canton's used car give away!
Hero of Canton posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We've had our fun hoarding vehicles on this server and the challenge to keep adding vehicles has worn itself out! So, we wanted to do something fun: To start with we'd like to give away the Red Sedan! We'll park it somewhere very near a shore town around HAPPENING NOW!!! (master servers are down, we'll shoot for 8pm and see how it goes)pm EASTERN (today July 23rd) and announce which server we are on and which town it is near after the car is placed. What I'm hoping for is to see some shore dwellers fight over the car and someone eventually drive it off! And if some people want to camp the spot picking off people as they run to the car, by all means! Hopefully they will start hunting each other too. Bottom line is however exciting or lame it turns out, someone will eventually end up with a vehicle to have some fun with. Any thoughts? I'm afraid I'm not giving enough time for people to prepare or know about it, or that no one will care. But I figure if people have a character they don't mind losing, it would be fun to fight for the vehicle. I'm hoping people don't think so much about the prize of the Red Sedan and more of the mini-game aspect of a sort of king of the hill. I will try to hide somewhere near by and record with FRAPS. -
Bought new cd key but im still banned
jaynich replied to asjak5's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Funny thing is, when cheaters spawn in ammo crates, you can't view what's inside unless you spawned it yourself. Otherwise it's just empty. I know this because I too have been banned for it. But I was using the script on a private server to test weapons and learn to drive the vehicles. Anyway, you're better off with a Retail. Steam likes to make things difficult. -
I think as it stands, the issue that comes up is that night time encourages people to switch servers to avoid the massive number of issues that night time brings up for starting characters. I mean, lets be honest, without a good weapon and night vision goggles, night time becomes a significantly harder experience then day time. And when there is no penalty for switching servers to a day time one (besides perhaps a loss of vehicles should you be so lucky) there is very little reason not to just jump off. Now, I do like how intense it is, and I approve of taking it seriously, but I see this as an issue that should be looked at.

Friend checking in here! Totally happened. I thought i'd glitched out originally because I suddenly clipped through the ground and then was swimming for no reason. EDIT: I just signed on again to check our camp, helicopter is still there, most vehicles sabotaged and the ones that weren't are just plain missing. Then, as I was checking around, with no gunshots heard, I got killed. After that it was a spam of DJFruitbat was killed, so much so I couldn't even get the game to shut down properly. Now, i'm not sure if it's the same guy or not, from all appearances he had been booted as he wasn't in the players list any longer, and considering there was another hacker earlier, it's possible it was another one, or even the same one. No way for me to tell.

So I was teleported, last night, to the roof of a building in the NW airfield, along with everyone else on the server, which turned into a bloodbath for everyone who didn't logout in time... but now that's not an option to prevent people from Alt+F4ing out of combat. Great. How about taking these administrator functions away in this mod? There's no reason to have controls like that, so why not disable them? I won't be playing again until there's some fixes for this, and I won't be buying any Arma 3 : DayZ either unless I'm sure this is taken care of. Looking through the server complains forum, I see this isn't an isolated or even rare incident. There were 20+ people on my server last night who were all teleported to their deaths, and not one of them posted here about it, so I can only assume this is happening pretty damn frequently. This is the #1 issue, not alt+f4ing out of combat or zombie vision or rarity of vehicles.

Tents no longer saving. (Not the usual server restart bug.)
NocturnalS1n posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Okay. Camp gets raided, we decided to pick up and move. The usual. Well until the fact that any new tents we have, won't save items inside. Tons of tents, tons of tries, different conditions, manners, and usual work arounds that will get them to stick. From time to time, the first time you set a tent down, items may not save inside after the first restart, but afterwards they usually do. Usually. Its Alpha, and nothing is ever for certain. I hundred and ten percent get that, however this bug just started popping up, and I've looked and looked for this particular situation and can't find anyone but my friends and I who are having this issue. Like I said, any new tent, and even a few old ones, won't save. They'll always revert back to a previous inventory. For example, have a new tent or a tent with current items, replace current items for DMR Mags, save it, go about your business, server restart, and bam, back to the original empty tent, original items, or even the DMR mags. However if you land with the DMR mags, there will be a catch. You will no longer be able too add anything else, or take away anythign else permanently, as it will be reset again after a server restart. The first items to save successfully in the tent will be the last items to save in the tent after a server restart. Our group is going insane trying to find out what could be wrong. Is the location on the map problematic maybe? Its not out of bounds if thats the case. Too many tents on the server perhaps? Tents, barbed wire, tank traps, and sand bags, don't disappear even if taken down or destroyed currently. They pop right back up after a restart. So perhaps the server is overlaoded with them? And its the only method or storage affected right now. Vehicles and their sotrage is currently the only persistant place we cna store anything as of right now. Its the only thing that saves. Couple of other non-issues. Server is fully up-to-date. It IS connected to the HIVE, so no worries of playing on some form of private server, everythign else we do persists just fine across other servers. Its just tents doing this. I'm wanting to point fingers at a possible HFB problem, as it is a very recent problem that poped up over the weekend. Or perhaps I suggested. some form of "overload." Perhaps I missed something, another thread that ran into this *exact* problem. I'm used to tents messing up, losing items, not saving. But I'm not used to them permanently, and completely breaking. As I already said, I understand its Alpha, but trying to work this out and understand why such an unusual form of a usual problem has appeared. Any suggestions, ideas, or help would be appreciated. If mroe details are needed to nail down a possible cause I'm glad to help. I didn't submit a bug report yet as, well sicne I can't find this issue elsewhere, yet can't be the first ever to hit it, I wanted to ask around first, as looking around failed. Also sorry for making this so long winded, just tired and wanted to get as much info out as possible, as well as at wits end trying to solve this. EDIT: Just remembered, and wanted to clarify. We don't care about losing items, what is lost can nearly always be regained, we just care about the ability to store items, period. We technically could use vehicles to store everything, but we'd prefer not to hog vehicles, for sucha purpose. We're a rather large group so lack of places to stick stuff is a real killer. -
bicycle, unlimited health, silent, takes you anywhere faster then most vehicles...

Anyone else feel that .50 cals....
Flex Plexico replied to infinitegrim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The AS50 is even more powerful...It has the same damage as the M107 but it's quieter, less recoil which can allow you to get back on target much faster, and it does more damage to vehicles than the M107.. -
DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.
sinnful replied to She'llberight's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play on full'ish servers and in the last few weeks there have been at least one hacker on each of the servers with anything from spawned in weapons/vehicles to the last few days of teleporting people into blocked in areas and killing them. Yes, its out of control and if you claim to have seen no hackers or very few, stop server hopping on empty servers then you will encounter them more often than not. -
Those complaining about having to log into "15" different servers to find a good one, please try and make a server(or 2) your constant home. While playing the game the next best thing to live for after your friends is your "server bound" items, your tents, and especially vehicles. If you are jumping from one server to another you cant enjoy the vehicle experience. Things to live for: 1. Brother in arms next to you 2. server bound items(tents, vehicles) 3. The experience 4. not my gear, I can gear up in an hour after death and be a force. Spawn in Kamenka and want to be in Berezino, have your buddy drive your GAZ/ATV/motorbike down to pick you up in 10 minutes flat. Vehicles are server bound, so join 1 server and try to get a vehicle or 5 to use on a regular basis, not hoard.

LU252 Vehciles Teleported off map and players killed
Aitchy791 posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
* LU252 (my server) * Between 13:00- 15:00 GMT * Hackers teleported all vehciles off the map and killed any players unlucky enough to be in one of those vehicles. My groups vehicles dissappeared luckily no one was in any of them at the time, other players who I do not know reported this also on our forums, they also said players in the vehicles were killed by this person/people after they teleported all the vechles to them/off the map. -
What do you consider the definition of a bandit?
Stompopolos replied to theguy8882's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This^ Obviously, if someone is a threat I will kill them, but I much prefer robbing vehicles and tents (yes, I've learnt how to spot a trap the hard way :l).
