    Are AS50's worth anything anymore?

Well that depends on what value system you are referring to. If you mean are they worth anything as a weapon to use against other player/zombies, then yes the AS50 is a good sniper weapon and very potent against vehicles. If you mean are they worth anything in a monetary or trade by barter sense..... well I can't answer this because trading/buying items in this type of game seems silly. If you mean are they worth picking up because you are worried about getting a hacked weapon, you have no worries there as Rocket has clearly stated that simply having a hacked weapon on you will not be sufficient to result in a ban.
  2. yeah so it seems the server admin took that opportunity to completely wipe the whole server data, rename the server, and start fresh right as he saw us flying above elektro. vehicles/heli/tents are all gone well played :\
  3. To set the scene, I began playing yesterday and spawned a-fresh below the Balota deer stands, after dying late the previous night and deciding to wait until the morrow to continue. My brother and I play together often and on this occasion we decided to meet up at the Northern apartments in Cherno, so that I could give him some med assistance (he was on roughly 2000 blood) and then grab some supplies and head up to our camp. I made a quick trip to the deer stands in the hopes of finding some sort of weapon in case of an emergency on the way to, or at, the apartments. Nearing the south-west deer stand (bottom right facing North), I hear gunshots. AKM. The rounds pierced the air around me, but as I come closer to the deer stand I see a man shooting at the zombies on the ground in front of me, clearing a path. I call out to him on voice chat, asking him if he is in need of bandaging, and he responds with something along the lines of "yeah, can you help me look for some ammo?". We search the other deer stands for ammo for his gun, when he yells "Got an AK-74 for ya over here!" We fix each other's wounds up and I grab the AK and a few rounds for it, and say our goodbye's. He veers off toward the coast as I head toward a mountain for use as cover for the rest of the journey. As I move further into the distance, I hear the snap of his AKM, and look back to see tens of zombies fall and bite the dust. This was the first friendly survivor I had encountered in the game, other than a hatchet man in a barn I had to save from zombies weeks ago. I've been playing for multiple weeks now, and had many many encounters with other survivors and bandits alike. The amount times where an unnecessary murder took place and put me back on the coast is amazing. I totally understand the threat factor, and believe me, I know how much it sucks to have to lose hard earned gear, so I get why many people try to DC to attempt to avoid death, but in many of these encounters I would have been more than happy to offer medical support or food and drink, or even give a newbie a gun. Unfortunately when a hatchet man tries to hack you to bits for your gear it's hard not to put them in their place instead of attempting negotiations, because as many have said before, you really can't trust anyone. After this encounter though, much of my faith in humanity and the Aussie population has been restored, and I hope to encounter this survivor again sometime. So... to the other part of the story... I arrive in Cherno and start to crouch run toward the apartments from the mountain on the west when I spot an oddity in a bush. A parked UAZ sits on the hill next to the apartments, out of fuel and with a totally red engine. I didn't want to stick around to have a bullet put in my face, so I swiftly left, and made my way to heal my brother. We get organised, grab all the meds we can, heal up, and hit the road. I want to take another look at the UAZ, so we pass it and crouch behind it incase of snipers. opening up the boot, I find to my great surprise an M107, 3 mags, plenty of fuel, food, water, some odds and ends, and fuel tank parts. I begin repairs on the car, and refuel with a jerry can (enough to make a quick escape). We chuck our meds in the back, and rev up the engine. She moves. We rocket up the hill I came from at a riveting 3kph, and reach a gravity defying 20kph on the dirt track at the top. Stopping further down the road to refuel in a safer place, my brother takes the M107, we save the vehicle, and continue on toward camp. Passing through Nadezhdino, the road is clear and I speed up. Suddenly out of nowhere, that glitch I read about on the forum happens. "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet". A burnt out truck appears directly in front of me, and I clip it with the UAZ. Boom. Car explodes, we get out just in time to be unconscious and die on the ground beside the car. My brother flips his shit in losing the M107, and decides he won't be playing anymore tonight. I read somewhere on the dev-heaven Issue Tracker about vehicles reappearing at the last saved location on server restart, and I knew one was due that night. I made the trek back to the destroyed UAZ, and happy as Larry, I find my dead brother's body standing up on the road, M107 in hand. I take his loot (my body had disappeared) and head back to camp on foot. Putting the weapon in our of out tents, I see it. Perfect timing. "Global: Server restarting in 5 minutes" I log off and wait for the yellow briefing status to turn to playing, then I hop back in. It's dark out, but moonlit, so the road and houses are visible as I approach Nadezhdino. I take out the binocs, and to my surprise, instead of respawning at the last saved location, my UAZ was repaired and sitting on the road ready to be taken. I get to the UAZ and to my great surprise, all the gear is still inside, and it is in a drive-able state. It takes me a while to hoof it up a hill which blocks my way to my campsite, but eventually I park it nicely in a spot close to my tents, extremely well hidden from the outside world. Now, keep in mind at the time of play it was night, and there were not too many players on the server. In addition to this, most I would assume would be NVG users looting towns in the North, so the chances of someone having followed me is very, very slim. The UAZ had a couple of empty jerry cans so I went to fill them up at the nearest petrol station, roughly 200m from my campsite. I rush up there, fill them all, and rush back. When I arrive back at the site I have a bit of trouble locating the vehicle, so I turn up the gamma a bit to see if that helps to distinguish the car. No dice. I panic and run around in between trees and such trying to find the vehicle. Nope. Gone. Server had another restart within the next couple of minutes (the server often has 2 within half an hour in case shit gets messed up), and to my great unluck, my UAZ was still gone. Now I claim this on hackers, because I had a similar situation happen to me not two weeks ago where I lost a motorbike, then in the following days my quadbike. Pretty pissed off about it, I mean really, it's cool you stole all our vehicles, but do you seriously need that many cars? Come on mate, when will you ever use all that shit you stole? Anyway, it's an alpha and all that so I know you don't have to tell me, and yeah the tents lost nothing so chill haters :P Well that's the story, hope it was a good little (or big) read for you. See you round :D TL;DR: Friendly gave me boom, boom. Found UAZ, stolen by hacker. Sadface.

[Video] PvPing, looting a camp and a suprise!

So what you're saying is that all the vehicles we found yesterday was hacked? I'll put the recording up so you can tell if the gear was hacked or not.

    Saving tents and vehicle issues

It's possible that some or all of the vehicles came from hackers. This doesn't necessarily mean that some of your clan members spawned the vehicles via script, but it's possible that they obtained them from hackers (without knowledge) either by finding them or killing the hackers. Remember the phrase "illegal copies may degrade"? Upon a server restart any vehicle that was spawned via script will disappear. ADD: It's also possible that someone simply stole the vehicles. Hackers have vehicle markers and can spot any vehicle on the map, regardless of how well hidden it is.
  6. It would be interesting if you could find some scrap metal, and maybe a MIG welder, or even plasma/arc if generators are possible, and craft some bicycles, or other rare vehicles/equipment. It would be cool to have a set of individual tools for metal working, like tin snips, hammers, forges, etc, and to make items with them. Now with a vehicle, I think it would need a lot of scrap metal, that way, it still retains balance. It would also be interesting if weapons had durability, and you can increase/retain it by cleaning the weapon from time to time, or if parts are missing/broke, you can replace them; decreasing would be like, crawling around, getting dirt in it, dropping it, firing it, etc.

    DayZ personality list!

A funny list, tho. i needs a few more. Please illustrate the hardcore players, like the type "The role player" , "The skilled survivor" , "The tryhard" (which is the one that try to find all the good loot, but never finds any, who whines on forums about everyone stealing his loot, like server hoppers and the hoarders who takes his vehicles. Also the "The hacker" ... 4 personalities which could be fun to discribe. :D ? what you think.

    Paddleboats and more bicycles?

To add to this, I think It'd be cool to perhaps make it so Bicycles despawn back to their original position after being left unattended for say an hour or so, clans may disagree, but bicycles have no purpose besides to transport seeing they don't carry any gear, perhaps would be better to just have them spawn randomly. That or perhaps don't spawn bicycles into the game, and instead make them a vehicle you can actually create, you just need to find say 2 tires and 3-4 scrap metal and it will combine into a bike.. though idk if that is possible to be done in game and could cause a ton of glitches, I honestly think and wish there was a way to counter the hoarding of at least /some/ vehicles from clans, even a little bicycle.
  9. We've been having our base attacked by some guys using the infinite satchel thing (like this guy) daily (twice today, actually). Satchels go off, I drop the server, I dig through the logs, and when I get back with another cheat report (quickly ignored by the community) our vehicles are back and good as new.
  10. How about every admin with a clan basically kept the sever on pw protected till they horded every heli, UAZ and other vehicles of their choosing before allowing the sever to go public. And even worse the sever US 1340 if u shoot a vehicle it kicks you off the sever and resets the vehicle where it was shot fully healed.

    Losing vehicles to the server

Where's the "vehicle? what vehicle? some muthufucking clan hoards every single vehicle, bycycle included, in every single motherfucking server, there aren't any vehicles left ANYWHERE" option?
  12. There's all this complaint about cheaters and hackers. But what about the Admins abusing there ability to reset a server? I can not count on my fingers the amount of times servers gets reset for no reason. Right at the moment either i or my friend shoots a server related person. Moments server restarts without warning: - Shoot a player that is related to the server. - Steal a vehicle. - Shoot people in vehicle. - Drive off with vehicle. Effects: - Loss All gear. - Friends gear. - Newly obtained gear. - Own Vehicles. - Captured Vehicles. - Tents. - Chance of killing someone. - Feel free to add more to this list. And all this applies to ALL the people that are in the current server being forced to Reset. How is this not worse then cheaters? How is this not a priority. In most occations it happends when i shoot a camping ghillie dude thats related to server owner. This is just sick really. i think its worse then cheaters to be honest. Because the admins are the people who are supposed to make it playable and keep the game fair. Why i post this in Suggestion? Because admins should not be able to reset a server without an automatic countdown (cooldown). If they in any case DO reset servers "the hard way" then they should be blacklisted after a set ammount of times they do that. Why punish players for reconnecting but not admins for abusing there server reset button? Ive been in 60 player public servers where the server resets 3 times in a row after seeing the same player getting shot. i cant believe what i see. When you are in a server and you see the timeout message. Look at who got killed. Because kills dont happen that much in DayZ. And timeouts seem to happen allot right after a kill gets made. or a vehicle gets stolen. Look at the Server report forum. imagine the ammount of people who actually bother to make an account and go post on the forum what happend. then imagine how many of those actually tape whats going on. Now take that in account and see the ammount of threads in the server report forum. that just concludes that it happends in insane amounts. and that for a game where resets and crashes influence the game and the characters gear ALLOT. its sad. Vote for forced timer on server reboots and tracking of hard restart by manual resetting. The whole forum server report and letting people tape that they get disconnected is a total unlogical way of doing this and does not really show allot of support from the hive side. Its such a long way around of catching these admins. As they spoil the game completely for everyone with full servers. Hive should track the way servers are being reset. And if they already do that. Then why is this data not being used? Gp
  13. In an effort to determine whether I have the worst luck when it comes to vehicles, or if server admins are deliberately protecting their clan's vehicles, I put together a little poll. Please take a few seconds to fill it out, I think it would be valuable to know if getting kicked or reset for finding vehicles is a common problem.
  14. The [b-S G] "clan" has hacked in many vehicles and the best loot of the game on themselves in Elecktro and gave themselves invisibility and invincibility. [b-S G] Remus, Phase, Ragnarok, Maisteri, Adama and Ashke are their names. I don't know how to take a screenshot and I don't have a recording program.
  15. Couple days ago we fought nice battle for a chopper and manage to get it, and after few seconds we realized that, second chopper is 200 m away from it. We had enough crew to cover all the MG's and we headed for a trip. Well, found few camps, cars etc. looted them. As we landed we saved all the vehicles/helis. Close to the end of our journey, we spotted another Huey crashed with some newbie body next to it. So it gave 3 Huey on one server. I wont call it a hack or glitch, and I think that it is pretty possible that some servers might spawn more than one heli. As far as i remember Ander said that they'd seed one chopper to test them. We tested them already, why then wouldn't we spawn more? :) Sad thing is that when we splitted, server had restarted (with people in the air). Some of them appeared on the ground the rest in a sea, although luckily every one was alive. But since then, no one ever seen any chopper on that server. We checked every saved locations, even after two restarts. Can someone answer where are they? Safe in heaven or rather burning in hell, while waiting to respawn again - which I won't mind, I'm just curious, I'm not attached to gear. It was a huuuuuuuuuge relief to be on the ground after restart - If it was intended, then DayZdevTeam have done brilliant job solving this problem!

    Server - Weapon Configurations

This is great! What about... - "green" servers where cars and other combustion engine vehicles are disabled and only bicycles or electric cars spawn - vegan servers where cruel and heartless cow and bunny killing is impossible and people only eat tofu - christian servers where everyone huddles together in a church praying for gods intervention (spoiler alert: god doesnt do shit and everyone dies!) Oh imagine the possibilities! No wait, don't imagine - write them down!

    Paddleboats and more bicycles?

Bikes are already in. Making them as common as you say will just nullify running entirely. Paddle Boats or Row Boats i don't mind the idea of, though once again, they should not be as common as you suggest. If you have played for 80 hours and not encountered a single vehicle you obviously aren't looking in the right places. Heck i see flipped ATV's, buses, and sedans like 1 in 10 times i fresh spawn and head into elektro or cherno. Theres hotspot spawns all over the coast, and plenty inland as well. If you have played on the same server for all that time and not found vehicles, i suggest that they may have been hoarded, and you should go hunting for the camp! More common vehicles will make them less valuable, and a lot more gimmicky and create a lot more "lets go run people over in Cherno" moments. However extra modes of water travel would be nice... surfboards anyone? Tip: Go research Vehicle Maps online, theres plenty that have laid out the possible spawns for lots of different vehicles. Maybe do some raids with your friends and search these areas on multiple servers. I guarantee if you search hard enough in the right places, and try around on the servers, you will run into a vehicle in < 5 hours game time. Me and my gang do this everytime we get wiped or lose our vehicles.

    US353 Hacker

On US353, their was a hacker named (COUNTER HACKER) TriCk He killed everyone, along with our base with a bunch of vehicles. I mean, WTF!
  19. Today (August 1st, 2012) at 8:55pm EST and continuing for nearly 30mins+ afterwards, a hacker came into US957 (UTC -6) and headshot everyone I was with near Gorka. He then destroyed our vehicles. After killing us all, we respawned and he teleported everyone into a church (i think it was the one in either Elektro or Cherno) and killed all of us by 1-shotting us. We were unable to see him the entire time. He taunted us through local voice chat and kept killing us every time we respawned. We are unsure who the hacker is/was but provided below is a screenshot of the people on the server when this was happening. Everyone with the tag "/r/" before their name are those that were with me at the time who I know are NOT the hacker in question.

    Thunderdome

Hackers have been an issue in Arma2 for years. BI and Battleye have never worked to deal with them. BI has long since moved on to developing other games. Most of the Arma2 commmunity is pretty mature, plays the simulator games with regular groups of people. The admin on my regular server the past few years bans hackers at least once a week. The reason they are identified is because any new person who joins and suddenly blows everythign up or starts spawning vehicles not in that particular mission is obvious. Hackers in DayZ cause a lot more problems because of the popularity of the mod and the fact that your persistent character takes days to build up. But, Rocket has nothing to do with being able to fix that. DayZ is just a mod for Arma2. Sounds like you have a bit of an anger going on. Read up a bit about the issues and go on the BI or Battleye forums and put pressure on them. The one good thing about community anger is that the suddenly very large DayZ community may be able to convince BI to actually DO something about the hacking issue after three years.

    LU38 Server wipe?

Dear people, Does anyone know if their has been some sort of server wipe on LU38? We had mutiple tents and 2 vehicles stationed on this server, for a litlle while now. they survived mutiple resets, but now, all of a suden, everything has dissapeared. I do now know if its even possible for admins to do a server wipe, but this is one of the few things I can imagine. I'm not sure if I was the only player who saved the vehicles and tents, but could it be that "they" only wiped my saved tents and vehicles? Thank you all in advance. With kind regards, Jorrit
  22. My group of survivors has broken... due to hackers and admin abusers, we have lost everything 3 times now... the fellowship is broken, we have all gone our seperate ways. I will no longer get vehicles or go vehicle hunting. The noob survivors fates, are no longer in our hands, but we will not abandon all survivors to torment or death... I have left everything that I could spare behind... I will travel lightly, and do my part to hunt bandits.
  23. Could be considered unethical if you use it to look for camps and vehicles hidden in the wilderness. Otherwise, there's no problem with it.
  24. I might have, once, but I don't normally keep track. I rarely stick to just one server unless I get tents/vehicles. Just a few days ago I started keeping track of one server that I generally play on. But it really all depends on what time of the day I log in. (no, I'm not a server hopper, before anyone makes that assumption, I just like to play on servers that are almost full, so sometimes, keeping with the same server isn't that easy.) All I'm pointing out to you is that "Kids" are not the only ones who do this. In fact, I once knew a guy who was in his early 20s who purchased hacks for every game he played. He would use them, get people to rage in chat on him. Then he would screen shot their chat and cut just that part out. He then photoshopped an entire Windows Wallpaper of various game chat of people raging and made it his default wallpaper. He used his own money for all of this, and wasn't a kid. I've heard of a few in their 30's and 40's doing stuff with hacks as well. So again, my point is that it's not all kids. Probably less than you think.

Thank you for the post. I will check our logs to see if I can come up with a name. It was probably the same person that was spawning vehicles etc.
