    If they removed backpacks!

Jesus Christ... I am mortified that some of you are seriously considering that idiot's idea. Game without backpacks, eh? As someone said before - try game without bandages or make it randomly kill you every now and then, it will make it more challenging. No backpacks = no fixing vehicles, no scavenging (what's the point if you can only carry 1 gun, few mags and some cans and it's at BEST). What exactly would it add to the gameplay? What is wrong with the idea is pretty much everything. Why would I play one life without a backpack? How would that be fun? How do you play that game anyway? Go from coast to elektro and get killed by a sniper every time you aquire something more valuable than an AKM? Also - it's fucking zombie apocalypse, you're on your own, don't trust anyone. Other players are not danger to me. I am the danger, I snipe the shit out of stary looters and NWA barracks hoopers. If you think it would be fun to limit this game to just collecting cans and avoiding gunfight then you probably should think of another way to spend your free time as this game is clearly not for the likes of you.
  2. Hello, First of all I have to say what a game. I have never played anything like DayZ and the emotional response the game gives you as a player is incredible. Truly ground breaking and extremely unusual. There are obviously lots of things to iron out and tweak that I am sure you are aware of (inventory system, bugs etc.) and lots of features that will be added later but what I would like to suggest is a solution to two of the largest issues currently in the game which are unlimited player killing and the economy. I completely agree that the pvp system is essential to the game. The emotional response without it would just not be there. I am in no way suggesting removing it. What I am suggesting is to increase the value of life. Currently, the ability to store equipment seriously devalues life as the only punishment after death is a slight walk. I don't particularly have a problem with storing equipment and I understand why people do it but because some players have lives which are less important than others a system of maniac killing has developed which is detrimental to the ability of players to create the world within which we play. My suggestion to increase the value of life is to massively expand the map. Whilst 250 km2 is a large map, it is only 15 km on each side. As such, you are never that far from your stash or your group. The system as it currently is is similar to Tibia (when your corpse retains your equipped items but you can go back to your stash). A map with for example a 150 km trek to a stash would significantly increase the value of life - as well as the value of vehicles and other such items. I would suggest a map in the order of 10,000 km2 +. The landscape itself is irrelevant, there are large portions of earth with basically the same landscape for thousands of miles (the Eurasian Steppe for example). The key in my opinion is to increase the value of a life without forcing anyone to play in any particular way. Hopefully such a large map is technically feasible. Secondly, the economy does not work (as I am sure you are aware). There is an abundance of survival goods as well as equipment which again, devalues life. It is relatively easy to be fully equipped from scratch an hour or so after death. With the abundance of goods, there is little need to cooperate or collaborate with others [which is unusual as mainstream political theory holds that in a world with an abundance of resources conflict should be minimal, yet here we have a blood fueled anarchy]. Goods need to be far more scarce and I like your ideas on crafting and player created in game goods. It is vital though that the economy functions properly for the realism to hold together: a year after the infection the survivors would have looted almost all of the pre-infection goods and would be hunting, manufacturing etc. their own goods. Finally, I do think it is important that we are given as little information as possible. I do not think that a kill count is of much use - it is surely up to us to remember our kills or not. For the same reason I am delighted to see you removing bandit skins and possibly the humanity system. What has been created here is truly groundbreaking and I really hope that you can create the world which will continue to stimulate a player's emotional response. I think that increasing the value of life is the key to maintaining the unique proposition of the game. Thanks.
  3. restarts on my server happen every 6 hours. vehicles saved stay put past multiple resets without issues. One person has had the same Bus for nearly 2 weeks now. as for the bike always changing into a motorcycle and such, we had been able to save a bike for some time, but it did eventually turn into an ATV. This was crashed so no idea what would have happened beyond that.
  4. Jex =TE= (DayZ)

    Your "hidden" camps.

I always put gear in empty tents, like a meat stake and a can of drink in case someone comes by and finds it and I too come across tents and vehicles a lot. I've found 5 tents in a church in electro and even a tent pitch out in the middle of the ocean lol - i dunno how they managed that one. Most tents i find are empty though.
  5. So you say "its an Alpha version" trololo stuff, that ok, BUT you should know when to use it. as far as I know you are not a part of dev team and you are not a tester for this mod so you have nothing to do with the "Alpha" term. As Maktyr said, there is a problem right now, and I am sure that we are not the only three people who stopped playing DayZ because of the shit they did with the last patch. What if zombie spawn script or PVP system was disabled? would you still have fun playing DayZ and throw the "its Alpha, its Alpha, you are whiny kids" all over the forum? Tents and vehicles worked fine until the 1.7.2.5 patch, so or it was disabled by Rocket or it was somehow broken what I don't see any reason for that to happen. I think it was disabled. Me and friend didn't played DayZ for a week, because there is nothing to do when everything is broken, we found 4 vehicles and we don't have any use for them. maybe if you are a noob who live at the beach you find a lot off interesting stuff to do there trying to find Makarov. My team had another plans but its impossible right now. so just walking around and killing everything is the only thing left, I am not interested in this. Its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha its alpha trololo its alpha

Bandit needing help to become a hero

@RaysGoodLiquor When 90% of all servers are hacked, you're bound to find hacked vehicles. Me and my friend in this image were driving a legit quad bike we found, when suddenly we see a black SUV just sitting behind some trees at NWAF. Even the AS50 I mentioned in my initial post was a thermal scope. There is a ridiculous amount of scripters. http://i.imgur.com/3IIqn.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yo7EW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/b6X5W.jpg
  7. how how many restarts have you been able to save them for? i am sorry but i dont think you have done proper testing. we who have has found the issues consitant, and not random in any way. you found it whit the helikopter, but it is the same whit all other vehicles. example the bicycle will always turn into a motorcycle at restarts. motorcycle will always disapear after one restart. some vehicles can survive multiple restarts whitout changing, but will always disapear after a set number. (atv's maybe not. after one week of testing whit 4 restarts/day they were still there) i hammered 1.7.2.5 for almost 2 weeks whit tests, conclusion its broken. im now back at 1.7.2.4 and life is fine and dandy again, no hero skins, but thats alright. imho i think its more important that players can enjoy their end game.

Bandit needing help to become a hero

Umm, i don't know what to tell you but with a number like that i'd stay way the hell away from you. And the fact that you're driving hacked vehicles around airstrips just confuses me so much. I understand theres a possibility you can find them due to the high number of hackers... but seriously ? You're literally trying to get yourself convincted of hacking with that pic by itself man lol

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

No, I think tents, vehicles and graphical glitches should be the priority. They're they main game breaking experiences for everyone else. Ammo exploits are minor at best and only affect certain weapons anyway.
  10. Vehicles will respawn at the location they were last saved at upon each server restart, in order to save a vehicle, use your scroll menu and select the "Save" option. This also works for tents. Apparently, though I have not personally confirmed this, a vehicle will also despawn after seven days of not being used, but again, I cannot confirm this. As for crossing servers, vehicles and all placed items (Tents, barbed wire, etc.) are saved to each server, not your account, so they do not transfer when switching servers.

    Vehicle respawn during server restart?

We experienced the same bugs. 2 mates and myself were repairing different vehicles (V3S civilian, offroad pickup, motorcycle) on different servers (first we thought it depends on server whether it's saved or not) but to our regret they were never saved and always respawned broken were we found them. Because every server keeps restarting a couple of times per day, I think it's more or less a waste of time to search and repair vehicles (at least we are done with it). I just hope it will get better on 1.7.3.
  12. Frank, I've only been running a server and all the BE DayZ scripts for a week or two, but I'll try to summarize my understanding of the logging. You can find a BE post at the beginning of this thread detailing the new logging, which basically boils down to A. do not log this, B. log this and C. log and kick. The team maintaining the scripts mostly seem to make sure that the legit actions aren't being logged, but for instance are logging the ghillie and the Coyote Backpack in createvehicle.log since hackers are most likely to spawn in the higher tier items. If you see these items followed by [0,0,0] it means the player joined the server with these items in their possession. However, if these items do have a location code (like [12000,3000,100] there's a chance they are spawning them in with a script. createvehicle.log will mostly show people joining the server with the aforementioned equipment. Any other entries deserve more attention and might show people trying to script in certain items. Most legit actions like entering/exiting vehicles, loot spawns and such will not show up in the BE logs. scripts.log will often show people opening the ServerInterface.sqf (sic) and that kind of stuff. Not much to worry about, because these often show up after a server restart (it's mostly the Mission and/or Lobby screen as far as I know). There's a known exploit with remote controlling a server through RCon (password stealing), but right now BE will kick players trying to access this feature. Better safe than sorry. Anything else in scripts.log is worthy of your attention, albeit the fact that most scripts make innocent players show up (for instance when a hacker is teleporting them) which makes researching them a bit harder. Post snippets of those logs here (hide the IP/GUID) for a second opinion. Almost everything in remoteexec.log concerns people being very, very naughty. Again, post any examples here for a second opinion. You will also need to browse through your server_console.log to see if someone got kicked for a script restriction. The actual kick is not logged in the BE logs. The .RPT file which is only accessible when the server is shut down will show you other detailed logging like player inventories. I try to refrain from going through these for obvious reasons, but last week I found a tent on my server with a G36 in it. I can't ban people with "illegal" items in their inventory since they might have found these by accident, but I'm sure as hell not going to allow people to knowingly store them on my server. You can find a list with current DayZ items and their codes (like BAF_AS50_scoped for the AS50) here: http://db.dayzwiki.com/items Check out the links in Vortech's signature for the latest scripts, a link to the Community Ban List (if you have a Google account you can also submit your own ban reviews) and some further info on scripting commands.

    Playing DayZ COMPLETELY Free?

People talk about buying this game (as well as others) instead of pirating and they frequently mention that they have "no regrets". Those people are all children. If you're an adult gamer your know how hard free time is to come by. You have a job, a spouse, a child that deserves your attention, and maybe a long-suffering pet or two that craves the occasional snorgle. Here are my regrets about buying this game and keep in mind that they would not be fewer if I had a pirated version...I totally appreciate that: -finding a server with a low enough ping and correct version. I live in Korea. Fㅂck me, right? What's Rocket gonna do about that? What can he do? Just sayin...it's just one more thing on top of a dozen other things... -getting stuck on each of the half-dozen or so loading screens for an average of ten minutes each time you join a server, even though the game uses the same damn map on pretty much every server. Don't try to blame my IP...I paid extra for a bitchin connection and play at night when almost nobody is online. -the hourglass for death...because we didn't have to wait long enough for all the other crapola in the game, we also have to get penalized for getting smoked by Sgt. Douchetard (or another Hacker that BattleEye missed) every time we loot somewhere that isn't a barn -the bugs, graphic glitches...who do I send money to so that they'll be properly motivated to fix this? -zombies that can see in the dark, have hearing that would shame a dog, and can sprint for 30-40 minutes...some even take a headshot but don't go down... -the hackers seem to outnumber the legit players...very few of them are "white-hat" hackers... -servers that consistently spawn next to no loot/weapons/meds/vehicles but have no trouble spawning the undead by the screaming multitude... -random injured/death spawns, broken bones, ect that just spontaneously occur I've read reddit and the other sites. I know there are millions of fan-boys lined up to simultaneously fellate Gaben and Rocket...but if you're going to projectile vomit rainbows out of both ends about this game, save it for the kids who seem to have endless hours to invest in this game (study much?)...adult consumers (a large if not the majority of the market of the gaming customers) are going to quickly appreciate how different the representation differs from reality. Don't get me wrong, when the game works...it's awesome...but can you, in good conscience run screaming through the interwebs that everyone should pony up for a game that works sorta well about 40% of the time (on a good day)? Just sayin.
  14. Honestly, if a team want to hoard vehicles why not let them? If you actually get off your lazy ass and go look for camps! If you say a "100 player clan" can occupy a server, wouldn't a hundred tents (assuming each member had one tent each) be easy to find? In terms of clans "owning" a server as you put it, why not just kill them? This isn't some game where a player can take 100 bullets to the head without dying, DayZ is actually (well, somewhat) realistic in damage made by weapons. If you really do suck at the game, WHY NOT GO ON A DIFFERENT SERVER??? I don't even...
  15. Whenever the final game version is released: The tents and vehicles HAVE to be wiped EVERY 5-7 days! The players should be able to keep only inventory and backpack items. If the developers really like to keep the game popularity they have to make impossible for a clan to sit on a pile of resources and occupy a server 24/7 without letting other players to login and conquer. I have played EVE a lot and there is common things in gameplay with one big difference - DayZ IS NOT single universe/server. In EVE 50-60000 players can login simultaneously and conquer resources. With DayZ thousands of servers it is very easy for a 100 players clan to occupy a server 24/7 and secure unlimited vehicles and guns. Meanwhile same idiots will "police" noob servers making brutal fun with regular players. The result will be - no new players grouth and a lot of borеd to death veterans.

    Weapon Cleaning and Degrading.

I can definitely get behind guns requiring maintenance and repairs to keep in a working condition! The mechanic should be something along the lines of what's suggested, with weapon degradation increasing weapon spread (meaning your gun becomes less accurate) and decreasing reliability. Some guns could be more reliable and durable than others, while others require more maintenance to keep functional. This could balance, say, the M4 (not very durable) vs the AK-74 (highly durable), although both would still be quite easy to clean. What I can not agree with is this nonsense 16 slot cleaning kit. That's, what... 3 engine blocks of weight? Just because the game is currently in a broken state doesn't mean you have to design new equipment/items around that broken gameplay; what you should be thinking of is how this would work when DayZ is not broken! For example, a cleaning kit should only take up 1 or 2 slots (swabs, a bore snake, and a vial of Hoppes #9 are -not- that heavy), and ought to be able to be placed in tents/vehicles. Even if the current game is broken with items duping and all that crap, weapon degradation will still add another thing that requires taking care of. Don't assume things will still be broken in the future, when this mechanic will see much more use! It's not necessarily mechanical degradation; cleaning a weapon is vital to keeping it functional, especially when you're hiking through kilometres of wet woodland. A weapon that sees no maintenance will start to get dirty pretty damn quickly, in a situation where 99% of the time is spent outdoors.

    Keeping vehicles when changing servers?

    Vehicles don't save cross-server.
  18. One question, V1.8 listed all players who created ammoboxes, inofficial vehicles and pipebomb explosions and so on, the newest version always says "All Clear". But there are enough entries with ammoboxes in the log :/ Tried 2.0, 2.1, several scripts.txt....
  19. Recently I have found a push bike, motor bike and a bus but none of which have saved when I have joined new servers, even when I disconnected to have a break and when I came back it was gone. So to save a vehicle do you have to be in it or within, say 100m too it?
  20. We have not had any issues saving vehicles on my server aside from the random one changing to something else. The heli however will not save no matter what we do. it always ends up back at the island all banged up.
  21. There is quality control on the updates... US. Do you not know what alpha testing is? Lol. Don't use tents or vehicles until they're fixed. How does that sound? To be honest, this game could do with less whiny kids. There will still be plenty of players (and probably a better community...) in a month. Just my two cents...
  22. Item : Cleaning Kit Size : 16 Slots Rules : Cannot be put in Tents or Vehicles or Bags, only held in main inventory. Use : Restores a Gun to full working order cleaning it of any dirt or rust. Found: Military Loot (medium drop rate some where between makarov and sandbags) Gun Rust/Dirt/Ware : Each time you fire your gun, it should lose a little durability, this sounds like an mmo thing but its a real life thing, guns need regular maintenance to keep them working correctly, we should have this modeled, if a player goes to long without cleaning their gun then it should break and jam and become a trash item to be thrown away. Guns should also take Durability loss on player death, the guns take hits during a gun fight as well, so only make sense that if the player dies, his guns should lose a little as well. If this gun state is saved appart from the tent data or vehicle data then a guns state should not save and dupe back to perfect on a reset, this will help get rid of a lot of the duped guns in the game as people use them and then fail to find cleaning kits. It will also add another stress point for the player, do I pick up this cleaning kit which will take up my full inventory and that I cant put in a tent or bag to take back to base and use on my nearly broken AS50 , or do I use it on my current weapon , or do I leave it and look for a new gun. :: WHY :: - lets face it , the risk of death is gone while tents respawn loot on a reset, people dont mind death because they know they can just run back to their tents and get all their stuff back, we need to really bring back that risk, bring back the need to get out in the world and look for more guns and ammo. and not just sit in cherno or a tent farm.
  23. Sort the damn tents and vehicle saving out, in a game without any true objectives these are core elements that you've managed to break in the last patch. The alpha test is going to be burnt to a cinder unless these items are fixed pronto. You should also put some damn quality control into your patches, stop releasing small (buggy) fixes which somehow manage to break massive chunks of the game which keep people addicted. I stopped playing about a week ago, because without tents and vehicles the game is rubbish. I've been watching the Dayzmod homepage every few days and see the players last active within 24 hours dropping by tens of thousands each time I check back. At this pace there will be no players left in a month! Forget all the momentum building up to the standalone when you've pissed off most players and server admins like this!
  24. There is a fix for over 3 weeks out there allready (at least for the vehicles). What takes so long to make it official?
