  1. out of the map borders, most of the vehicles will go boom in 24 hours. Except the push bike, which hasn't gone boom or anything in ages :X

watching for vehicles in my logs

I believe that's normal, if you're at least getting spawns, all the vehicles will spawn over time, you're not going to have 80 vehicles to repair everytime the server restarts, I think they only spawn in a radius of 2 km from any player that logged out up to 30 minutes before the restart, BUT all the other vehicles, may spawn over time, but there is a vehicle cap on the server and also a vehicle type cap, so you won't have 10 helis, or 20 UAZs, in a normal server only 1 huey spawns, and if that huey gets destroyed, another will spawn a week later, and that's about the same with other vehicles, but in a different scale, like if there's 5 URALs on the server no more will spawn until one gets destroyed and 4 hours later one more will spawn and that's how it goes EDIT: I forgot to say that it also spawns saved vehicles

    Vehicles.. Lets be honest

I think a lot of people here are missing the OPs point: vehicles aren't hard to find, the problem is admin abuse on clan owned servers where the admins hoard all the vehicles. I've personally experienced admins resetting their servers to get vehicles back as well as kicking players and locking servers while they get back stolen vehicles etc. Combine that with the fact that admins can also check their logs for all saved vehicle locations and you have the situation where clan-owned servers are hoarding all the vehicles on a permanent basis
  4. **DO NOT*** do this. If you are going to delete in game vehicles, you will need to find them in the "objects table." If you do as this person says you will be permanently deleting spawnable vehicles. Your patience is appreciated - 12-24 hours is the setup time. If you remove the tractor that's spawned from the database it may spawn the same tractor or something else. It's randomized based on spawn chances (look at the "chance" column in "spawns" table) Yes, based on your server settings. No, you'll have to modify the "pos" column in your "objects" table to move the location of the vehicle. I recommend not doing this unless you know exactly what you are doing. We're looking into installing rMod which will allow this. Please research rMod, it's client & server side.
  5. Wow. Looks like you got some serious interest here Venthos. Kewl. I have some ideas, use them or ignore them, especially if they are impossible or stoopid. I am a big boy, I won't be offended. Ideas for flares: Attract zombies like smoke grenades do. Do damage like cans and bottles do (setting zombies on fire would be nice). Ideas for Jerry cans: Shoot them they explode. Pour gas on ground, throw flare at spilled gas, buuuurrn! (setting anything on fire is always nice). Ideas for eating/drinking: Fill water bottle when it rains. Eat fruit off trees in orchards. Drink water from pumps and dams even if you have no water bottle. Eat raw steaks (gives less blood but is an option). Degradation and repair of vehicles (toolbox a requirement to fix vehicles): Regular maintenance with toolbox stops vehicle degradation (once a day or it loses 0.1). Where the vehicle is hidden (in the wilderness loses 0.2 per day it is not used). New item: Oil (10 uses per can, used with toolbox restores some vehicle degradation). Medical system: New Item: Medical kit (rare item, uses backpack slot, unlimited bandages, morphine, epi pen, painkillers, antibiotics and chloroform). Ok, so that is some of the stuff I have thought about over the last 3-4 months. All the folks that have already suggested these to sprocket & Co. Ltd. I didn't steal your idea, we just had the same one independently <----- pre-emptive flame retardation
  6. Adding to that picking up fresh spawns in vehicles is a neat thing to do, don't keep them around long enough for them to shoot you and steal your ride but give them a ride to the town/city/unofficial deathmatch arena of their choice. I know this has been done to death but I still get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when a ghillie suited m107 toting badass gives me a ride in his (I'm not making this up) F***bus.
  7. An excellent server, i've been playing on it for a couple weeks, and it's exceptional. The players are friendly, there are vehicles for everyone, and you can actually say "friendly" without getting turned into a gooey mess.
  8. On the FOURTWOZERO DayZ server we are trying to create an environment, on public hive, that caters for styles of playing that are normally ruined by deathmatching players, scripters, and hackers. On our server you will find we encourage players to take the game a little more seriously. By following a few simple guidelines, we hope to establish a server that offers more opportunities for player bases, trading outposts, supply camps, medics, and more. If this sounds like something that interests you, you’re already someone we’d like to have as a part of this movement. We keep a close watch on our server, and we'd like to attract the right-minded people to play on our server and call it home. Our server is home to a healthy population of regular actual friendlies, some bandits who take their role seriously, trading outposts, supply camps for fresh spawns (also useful for you loot cycling noobs), and more. We encourage a no KoS rule for unarmed players unless they somehow provide an immediate threat (like trying to aggro groups of zombies on to you), but fully support and endorse proper PvP and tense situations - the way they were intended. We will also be launching a DayZ Fallujah Private Hive server soon, with several overpowered military weapons removed and tweaks made to provide a more realistic and balanced survival experience. We don't hoard vehicles, plenty available and plenty of fresh loot spawns. To find out more about playing on our server, please visit: http://fourtwozerogaming.com/fourtwozero-dayz-server/ DayZ Server: 85.236.109.74:2802 Teamspeak 3 Server: 85.236.109.28:12167 Teamspeak 3 Password: amnesia Also forming small fireteams for the server and other servers, along with ArmA 2 for those interested - http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/96765-420fourtwozero-recruiting/
  9. Hello, folks. My name is Chris and I have been playing Dayz for about 4 days now. I bought ArmA specifically for this mod and have no intention of ever playing the ArmA standalone. That said, I guess I lack a lot of the "game experience" that players who've played ArmA extensively must have. However, I pick games up VERY fast, and have played many FPS/MMO games over the last 10 years - 100% of the time in a clan setting. My point? I work well with others and I've never found a game I wasn't good at. The game has everything I could want, but the only element that it's missing is company. I've never played a PC game that wasn't made all the more fun with other players around. I am not fussed as to whether you are Bandits or Survivors, but please don't take this as a demonstration of lack of focus. I know I'd enjoy either play style. The only thing I'm not interested in is sniping fresh spawns in Cherno "for the lulz" and other such activity. I am quite eager to try robbing people, not killing them, but forcing them to down gear, take what we need to survive and letting them go on their merry way. I don't want to steal their pistol when the one I have is better and has more ammo. A Bandit with a little humanity left, if you will. On the other hand, I am happy to scavenge and scrounge, to help others, and fire only when fired upon, etc. I'm 28, have Skype, Teamspeak and Vent. No steam account. At least not one that I can remember the password for. I work fairly regular hours and have weekends off with 1-3 evening shifts a week. If anyone or group is happy to take me under their wing, show me just how deep this game can be - camps, vehicles, etc. - then 100% commitment from myself shall be your payment. PM me. Regards, Chris.
  10. I assume gunshop means you take "donations" to spawn guns/vehicles? SO your not really hack free just official hackers only. Seen a few private hives doing this basically owners hacking things in for players that pony up enough
  11. I cancelled my HFB subscription and because there were no vehicles spawning. We moved over to Vilayer.com. I installed the Falluja map and used the vehicle spawn option that you get in the Vilayer CP. It gives you the option to spawn in 15 up to 80 vehicles. I went ahead and cranked it up to 80. It worked as advertised. There are vehicles and aircraft everywhere on the map. I've flown several types thus far. Plus, when some aircraft or vehicles blow up a new set spawn in. We lost some Hueys this weekend and three MI8's spawned in. Drop by our server and check it out >> DayZFallujah - 1.0 (UTC-6) - (Veteren I 3D:ON I CH ON) FMFclandivision.com oh and the time .bat works aswell unlike HFB which does not.
  12. Hello every1, LU452 is testing a new map guys and we would like players to come and have fun on this new map takistan, loads of vehicles, fun, good community, server team allways helping the new players, free from hackers, passworded :D. If you are a new player or a pró, just join us ! If you wanna join us just add me on steam and will give ya the pwd. Cheers.
  13. Add mechanics that encourage teamwork, which is already being done for standalone. I am not saying force teamwork for being friendly through perks and rewards, just make certain activities fairly impossible to achieve by yourself. As it stands now I tend to die far more often trying to be friendly or walking around with a group (groups attract more attention so called "friendly" survivors make assumptions about groups just like the stupid assumptions players make about Ghillie suits), so besides having someone there to provide a blood bag there is no in game incentive to teamwork. There are obvious benefits to team work that apply to almost every game, you have an extra set of eyes and ears watching your back and you can find and fix up vehicles far quicker. But as far as fixing the mod, probably not going to happen from an official standpoint, but check out some of the community fixes that are being rolled out or discussed in the private hive discussion. The base code for the mod has been made public so we will see some decent community experiments coming out over the next couple of months and maybe one of those will address the "problem" as you see it. Even if a significant amount of incentives were deployed I still think you will have a sizable chunk of the population who will still shoot you for the lolz. Before most of my IRL friends stopped playing I was not all that friendly on any server since I did not require anything teaming up had to offer, now that I find myself alone a good chunk of the time I tend to put myself at risk by being friendly. Sometimes it works out, yesterday I got some NVG on Fallujah by making a side chat trade with a completely random bandit (had the skin) at the airfield, while other times it ends in a murder. If you are really desperate you can always join a non PvP server where people are highly encouraged to work together and KoS is a bannable offense, personally these servers take away a core feature and do not seem all that fun but whatever floats your boat. Also I have been murdered as a direct result of attempting to follow the server rules, saw a helicopter and I had an AS50 that would normally result in the helicopter being destroyed but tried to follow server rules and got myself into a terrible position and was murdered (all in all the server was very nice though, had no idea that it was a non PvP server until someone told me then I checked the rules and it was clearly posted I just never read them since it is usually obvious like no hacking).

    good tent locations?

The following is a Copy/Paste of a post I made about base locations back in August, I don't want to type this all out again. About those tents in the middle of the woods, those are never safe, being a career camp raider I usually know exactly where the good tents are. Armed to the teeth thanks to some extremely well stocked "clan clusters" I will wait at night outside a camp and while eating beans and sipping on some mountain dew waiting for engine noise. Survivor(s) drive up on an atv or bike, or a car if I am lucky, park by the tent headlights on, get off, go to tent, get wiped out. Otherwise I just loot. I would go into more detail but that is not the point I am trying to make. 1. Isalnds are more or less secure if you control most of the easy to get "small boats" especially that rock 12 km out, but holy shit and one bad chopper landing will wipe out your tents in a heartbeat. Never use choppers for islands though because people will see it land and take off from the high pop coast and that is never good. Land by boat and from the side facing away from the coast. 2. Seperate you vehicles from your main camp by at least 2km, and use a bike to travel between them. No engine noise that the wary looter may hear. 3. This may seem crazy but never put your tents at the top of mountains or even in wooden areas that are mostly flat all around. I never spend more than a few hours without high tier gear from easy places like these. Put them in odd locations, not just on the map but in the terrain, (Edit: Yes tents do need flat terrain but look for surrounding terrain that can help conceal tents, I do not recommend rocks for that because they are contrasted to the surrounding terrain and are eye catchers) but seriously, EVERYBODY will find that tent city in the north east corner of the map. Use centeral north and north west if you have absolutely no better place to put them. Use the NW pass for vehicles and keep them in a motor pool away from your camp. City bases last little longer than beans in a backpack so I would only use one if I wanted to start over and go out in a guns blazing atop the battlements fashion. Think alamo.

    HURRRR died again!

5 to 15 players isn't a dead server. I personally think it's much better than joining a 50+ server where any tent or vehicle will be found in a matter of hours unless they're stashed off the map. The game feels more lonely and if there are two opposing teams on a server, rather than a bunch of deathmatching retards, the game really starts to shine. And just because there are only 5-15 players on at any given time doesn't mean there are not 50 people playing on that server, building bases, fixing vehicles, hunting others, etc. There could actually be a community of players that play at different times. This really just comes down to personal preference. I'm having more fun on a low pop private hive server with 3 opposing clans than I ever did playing on a massive server packed with Coddies. Some people want to play an unbalanced and endless deathmatch game. That's cool, it's just not for everyone. Until duping and most of the hacking is stopped the 50+ servers will continue to suck. (can't wait for the tears... the sweet sweet tears of deathmatchers)

I believe I saw VK flying with a chopper today, so perhaps they have it (not sure). However, we lost A LOT of our vehicles. We got so spoiled we just started taking vehicles for granted and so we lost a lot of them. Guess there's nothing left to do but lick our wounds and move on. We'll find some new ones, especially since you added more vehicles, that's awesome.
  17. Perks: - Already 3 clans on the server, along with several random players doing their own thing. - General store near kamenka + komoravo, also a place called UpRiisE's playground north of Komoravo with everything you would ever need (except a vehicle.... well maybe sometimes that too) Otmel has everything you would ever need aswell. - 120+ vehicles on the server including up to 10 choppers (unlikely to have all spawned at once obviously) - Active admins, very solid and quick to remove any and all hackers. - Side chat enabled, including VON allowed - just dont SPAM! - Clans are all against one another, rivalries galore (LBX is the best) - Everyone spawns in with NVGs because night time is enabled and we want to make life slightly easier. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bottom line is we enjoy our server, but would love to add a couple more people to it. Currently the numbers of players are around 10-15 on average. Looking for somewhere around the big 30. If you are interested in joining send me a message and ill let you know what the server name is. Questions are welcome
  18. There's definitely a lot to consider. I need to start a poll and find out what you guys want first. I've got some big ambitions, and everything requires time. I kind of want to spend that time on "new" mechanics vs. trying to balance guns and put in more things that go "bang bang" (Chloroform being a good tip of the iceberg example). -Revamp loot system to be entirely server-side for balance/auto-decay/less "gaming" of the system -Add mechanics for "Admin Events" to be held where I (and other admins on my server) can become super zombies with roaming packs of NPC zombies. Special "event only" loot would drop, and as such the events would be uncommonly held. I bet it'd be an interesting dynamic of people conflicted on "helping" each other defeat the horde vs. wanting the spoils that drops when the event is over. -Add new residential type guns... but I think I'd need a 3D Modeler/Artists help to make this anything cool. I do want to add a "flare gun" though for night ops. -A vehicle "decay" system so you can't hold onto a vehicle forever (thinking to the tune of 2 weeks), keeping new vehicles consistently spawning and giving new players to the server a shot at finding a vehicle. -Chances of "crashed vans" in the forests near Kamenka to make people not entirely loathe the area. Think "heli crashes" for new spawns. Shot at an ALICE pack, AK, or some other low/mid grade loot. And that's just off the top of my head. Hopefully they are things people think they might like. I want to try and get "something cool" into every major bump of the mod. Tweaks/bug fixes in between. It's just a lot of work, for sure, and I'd rather be spending time on things that will have people wanting to play on the server. If something is a bunk idea (hate the admin events, for example?) I'd rather not waste my time unless I think you guys are just seriously wrong and that it'll be awesome ;P If you notice, the things I've mentioned are kind of aimed at keeping you gathering longer as well as having things to do once you are done gathering other than just kill people (always keeping an eye on what may need to be your "next" vehicle, random dynamic admin events, etc). I'm not sure what I'll be starting work on tonight, or if I'll continue my break and play a bit on the server. We'll see. Thanks for the feedback so far, guys. I'm all amped up to work on this mod quite a bit since it seems there's some genuine interest in it.
  19. I completely agree, burt part of the hunt is finding said camps and reclaiming vehicles, starting your own and being at battle. You will always have vehicle hoarders, but with a bit more variety on the chopper department i think it would spice things up. In particular i love the uh60 mev one from fallujah, non-combat but is great for medical evac. Also the old moto would be a nice touch, instead of just the dirtbike.
  20. Hello Server Admin Cheated on EN 988 He bann all players from the server does not make what he wants He has a big camp on the position 000/005 on the mountain, but be careful! 20 tents with arms ammunition and hundreds of sandbags almost all vehicles are up there I was banned because I was not in his opinion! Get him you guys! For policy I was not banned from Battle Eye but from Server Admin (SJ) Killer I want to play because I paid for the game

    Vehicles.. Lets be honest

it would make it easier for the hackers, they simply open their map, see all vehicles and tents and people, then run to one drive it around to the others etc etc etc. You know a fun little thing to pull, goto the very top left or right corner, take 1 car, and like 10 tents, set them all up and wait, I would be willing to bet that on a high traffic server you will have some one heading your way and reaching you within about 30 minutes, and every one that turns up will be hacking, they see that many tents in a single place alone with a car and their little hacker brains go into over drive and they cant resist looking to see what takes so many tents to store.

Nice, Zombian! :) We got a server restart soon, so be sure to check back for some vehicles then! :)
  23. Want a 24/7 server? A server with an active admin? A server that has vehicles in its spawn points. A non-abusive admin? An admin that checks log regularly and keeps the server clean of hackers? Then uk#77 is for you! Hosted in the UK this server uses GMT as its server time, it is 24/7 unless technical difficulties crop up, updates very quickly and is fast to respond. Since we have some new players joining NL101 I have added some extra vehicles. But I had to restart the server for that while most of you were online. My apology for the inconvenience! Happy Gaming! Currently in NL101 we have: 2x Chopper 5x ATV 1x Hatchback 1x Sedan 1x Fishing boat 1x PBX 1X hilux 3x Ikarus 10x Bicycle 1x S1203 3x Skoda 1x SUV 2x Tractor 3x TT650 (bike) 4X UAZ 1x V3S 1x Volha
  25. After recently purchased a server, a few of the regulars on the server told me that they found a chopper but then crashed it - I dont have much interest in the Huey at the moment because of the high probability of it crashing and just something going wrong etc. So they asked me to check if the chopper had respawned (it's been I think about a week or two). I checked some of the server logs and in the arma2oaserver file it's got a list of the vehicles on the server - I THINK ("OBJ: .... "UH1H_DZ"). When the server loads up it has a list of objects which includes a bunch of tents, some wire, and then a bunch of vehicles - including the huey - which I assume are all on the server. Does this mean that the Huey has spawned, or does it just do that each time the server loads? They've told me they checked every spawn site and it's not there which makes me wonder if the log file is including a potential huey spawn.
