Some bullet points on it: - Securing the game from hacking/exploits is the number one priority with the game. - New crossbow looks bad-ass, Rocket hints at a chainsaw. - The game will draw on assets from all of BIS's games, talks about the helicopter mechanics from Take on Helicopters. - Distribution will be a lot more streamlined, so they can push out updates a lot quicker/easier. - The game is going to be a lot more optimized, especially the zombies themselves, which will presumably allow a lot more zombies at once. - Content/Images/Videos to be up on the blog soon. - Focus on authenticity, tension and freedom. Survival vs Wild. He wants to make the players body and nature being the antagonist. Things like broken ribs, different walking stances depending on where you have been injured, diseases (Malaria, Dysentery, Cholera) - Locations with more players will have more chance of spreading disease. - New medical system. - Zombies entirely redeveloped, graphically, animations and AI. - Weapon will have durability, they can jam, NV Goggles will need batteries, if you get shot in the head, the night vision goggles might get damaged for example. - UI removed, talks about a vomiting animation and other cues to show you are sick. - Chernarus Plus is done, new towns, facilities, water fountains balanced, many more fully enterable buildings, eventually all will be enterable. - New Crossbow, new melee items (some may come to the mod) also talks about a bow. - More parts to vehicles, different parts for different effects, for example a battlebus created by adding certain parts to a normal bus. - Timetable (Stable build out this year, November/December for a very low price point, January/February a lot of regular new content. - Working with community to try out new ideas in the mod.

    NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!

    This map was hugely popular on our server in the first week but an influx of hackers detroyed that poularity, teleporting vehicles and players undetected on a map that really needs a bit of teamwork and vehicles to get around in has resulted in a complete disaster. Also vilayer has chosen to remove the abillity to text edit the server cfg file, meaning some important features cannot be enabled, VON ID for example and the biggest kick in the balls is the removal of option to password lock the map. FIX IT.
  5. I like the idea,there could be a few more coastal towns and some more islands like otmel and skalisty to make camps on it would also make the boats alot more useful. And no more off map vehicles just sitting there.

    North and West Shores

    People hoard vehicles outside the map, this way they wouldn't be able to. In the standalone I think the map perimeter will be secured. Not sure exactly how they're doing it but it will.

    Base realism

    A question that has been burning' How realistic is it if you are killed and you know where (from a new player spawn point) your base is? The player who made the base would go through the hard work and if they were shot and re-spawned would not have any clue as to where the base was in a real situation, how could they? a new life means no prior experience of the place and knowledge of a base. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to approach this unreal situation? Would the base be locked upon discovery? wouldn't this be an unfair advantage? wandering around and finding a base is all good and true but to know after a new spawn? Fair enough if a clan has more members and each one know where the base is located(providing one lived). It would only mean you teaming up with friends and finding it again. Could bases be removed from the map when the players involved were killed? (unless other players were in the act of attacking / scouting the area) Vehicles are stolen all the time and this is to be expected, Tents are removed also. They would never stay in the same place. could bases then be removed (Not re-placed somewhere else) Another alternative is gear placed inside bases (using whatever method of storage) is removed after a timer upon death. Player X dies and runs to their base, depending where it is hidden a timer deletes all gear, again this is not realistic but continuous spawning items are not either. Ideas may be hard, but prior knowledge of bases when dead would not exsist to a new life! but it would exsist to non dead players who stumbeled across it as it has been created on the map, can you see the dilemma?
  9. For a small community this could work but not for the whole game. Not everyone will play from day 0 which means someone joining a few months later will be at a disadvantage. Maybe just for weapons,equipment, so there are only a fixed number of items. When one gets destroyed another one can be spawned. But that could turn out the same as vehicles.

    Buggy restarts...

    Has anyone else experienced on their server/home server that sometimes when the server restarts, it wipes all tents and vehicles off the face of the planet until next restart? It's actually getting quite annoying. Anyway, does it happen to anyone?

    Military Base

    A large military base with better spawn ratios of the best gear rather than tin cans High end working vehicles like black suvs and atvs. Zombies spawn in very large mobs 100 per entrance and shamble towards the center. Similar to the green mountain broadcast a signal can be picked up on the same radio frequency at the ne and nw air fields to give the bases coordinates. Idealy this would encourage pvp to move off the coast and create a more challanging area for scavenging and pvp. The location would be the mountain top at (74,12),(73,12),(72,12)

    Zombie "profing" cars

    I think that cars should have customization where you can use scrap metal not only to fix the hull, but reinforce the hull like armor, and also (If a big amount of tools is added and depending on the vehicle) the option to mount light machine guns on vehicles like Urals and so on. I also think that you should be able to make push bars for the front bumpers of all cars and have it be able to push things like washing machines and other small things out of a road and have the car not take damage and for my finial idea, CB radios. They can be found and put in any vehicles and used to for communication between players. I know that there are services like team speak, but this is just for the average gamer. And if it is used in the game, it gives other players ways to tract people talking with them. It will also have players starting to use codes like, Good Off These On Thorn Hair Animal Tiger Hole Only Used Secret Enigma. translation- Go to that house. it would provide a challenge to players. comment what you think.

    Suggestions inspired by The Walking Dead.

    2. 'We are all infected'. Nobody really knows what triggered the zombie-apocalypse in the first place. So let's say we live in a world in which we are all infected with this virus and once dead we become zombies ourselfs. Now the virus has a side-effect which kills you after a big amount of time, and it can only be stopped temporarily by drinking an 'elixer'. This rare item spawns only in one of the 4 improvised command center's,which are set up strategically across the map, right before the outbreak. The fact that you have to actually go and get some of this medicine regularly in order to survive, will cause players never to run out of an objective. It also brings a new element in the game when playing in teams. What do you do when your running out of time while your mate has one elixer in his backpack? Can you still trust eachother? It would have to be "a big amount of time" like every 12 hours of in game life starts the affect and it keeps getting worse until 3 hours later which is when you die. 3. Vehicle vs. zombie interaction. You remember the scene on the highway with all the broken cars? As if now, vehicles can't be damaged by zombie-attacks and are a safe haven for payers while under attack. Wouldn't it be more realistic if zombies we're able to damage a car and the player in it? On the other hand, I would like to add that vehicle should be stronger then they are at the moment. Sometimes running over a stopsign causes the car to explode. Vehicles definitely need to be much stronger althought I can't see them damaging things like the engine or fuel tank, bodywork and windows however would be damaged. This would also give a point to windscreen glass as they would need to break through that first before they could start attacking the players inside. Some idea's; 3.2 Wheeltype's; There should be 2 type of wheels in-game, offroad and regular. Offroad have +50% speed on offroad terrain, and visa verca. The car only works if 4 sets of wheels match. Maybe not +50% but I like the idea except for "The car only works if 4 sets of wheels match". The car wouldn't not work if it had different types of tires. But it should affect different types of vehicles differently, eg: A Skoda (which is front-wheel drive) with two offroad tires on the front and two street tires on the back would have good grip off-road (with slightly increased speed but not as much as if it had all four) while having less speed on the tarmac. A Gaz (Which is rear wheel drive) on the other hand if it had the same tire setup with two offroad tires on the front and two street tires on the back would have accurate turning off-road but the rear would have less traction and tend to slide out or lose grip and not be very fast, on the street it would be faster then having four off-road tires but not as fast as four street tires. 3.3 Toolbox; A toolbox should be required for every single repair. If your saying that you need a new toolbox for every repair, just no. A toolbox doesn't disappear after one use and you shouldn't need one to change the tires or put fuel in (engine, fuel tank, scrap metal and windscreen repairs should require one though). 3.4 Carkeys; Each type of vehicle requires a set of keys which can be found in residential spawnpoints. This way vehicles can't be stolen from campsites without having the right type of key at hand. I like this idea and would add the fact that you can hot-wire a car as long as you have the kit on your tool belt. YOu would be vulnerable while doing this and it wouldn't be a 100% chance of it working every time. Also car alarms could be another thing where if they try and get in without the keys it sets off an alarm which would draw in zombies and players in the area. Maybe even able to fit a car with a gps and you could track it with your own. 4. Zombie characteristics. If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, you proparbly noticed the huge effort that were made by the stylists of the show. You tryna tell me children cant be zombies to? I would like to see different type of zombies, each with their own characteristics. Kid zombies; They can outrun you but are easy to kill. The only problem is the outrage of everyone who doesn't like the depicting of a child being killed (even a zombie child). Just my thoughts on some of the ideas. The ones I missed out I like the way they are and haven't had anything extra to add / suggest.
  16. Yeah, Walking Dead is kickass! Can't help but compare the two, but in the grand scheme of things I'd rather keep my DayZ totally seperate (Walking Dead has got a series of games now anyway) A few points about your suggestions if I may. 1. There's already talk of introducing hordes stalking the forests and hillsides randomly. Probably in the standalone, but it's highly likely to be implemented, the wilderness is too safe. It's kind of obvious, after playing for a while, that Zeds need to be made into way more of a threat. And it would be cool too see them seemingly run out of nowhere to attack if you made enough noise (rifle crack/starting a car) 2. Rocket has stated that the "Zombies" in DayZ are still alive, and infected with a 28 days later kind of virus, so that writes off coming back from the dead. And I guess that means all players are immune to whatever it is anyway. 3. Not much has been said regarding vehicles, apart from there will be customization. (big offroad wheels and a v12 engine on quadbike? yes please) I'm pretty sure the overall mechanics of vehicles is being rewritten for standalone release, but maybe not, it's not a MAJOR thing really, it would be feckin cool though! I like the toolbox idea. Always thought it was daft you can swap out an engine block with your bare hands. 4. Kid Zombies <- Debate rages , Also I think DayZ is going to stick with standard Zeds throughout, no special types/boss zombies. I think soldier Zeds should have proper helmets though, to make headshots just a wee bit harder. Otherwise, welcome to the board
  17. Just my 2 cents. 1. Zombie parade. Just finished watching the final episode of The Walking Dead Season #2, and I came up with this idea which I think would be pretty awesome to implement. If there are any fans of the series here, then you must recall the scene where the chopper attracts this big horde of zombies out the city. In the final episode the horde reaches the 'safe' barn, which is located in the middle of nowhere. Wouldn't it be nice to have horde's of zombies spawn separately all through the map, which you can actually run into while walking in the woods? This horde would require new movement mechanics which determine the direction of movement when no player is around. Like for example, you could have them moving linear towards cities and villages in big groups while always vigilant for sounds and player-movement. 2. 'We are all infected'. Once the sensors are set up and a player gets to close (50m-100m range) the remote device will start bleeping and a that particular location gets higlighted on your map. 6.Military convoi. You remember the scene in the hospital hallways where military personel starts shooting the people during the outbreak? We should have extremely rare military convoi's which shoot at any player and are very hard to beat on your own. The convoi's loot should consist out of 'elixer's', heavy weaponry and vehicles. Beating them could be an team-objective. The meaning of their presence is unknown. See you in Cherno, Gooogle.

    Severe Admin Abuse, Please Read

    Alright, Rakanishu and I have decided to cut our losses, but before we go I'm going to clear up a few things. First of all, ghillies spawn on every single map. In fact, Rakanishu found my ghillie in the school near highway 11 about an hour before the video. Second, and possibly most important, the thermal AS50; There is some truth to the accusations that it was hacked in. I am sure it was. How else would it be on Fallujah? But, that's not where we came in. We retrieved the AS50 from another player we killed at the airfield. It's quite possible that he got his hands on the thermal AS50 in the same manner. At some point though a hacker hacked it into the game and either lost the gun or gave it away. We understand that it's a gun that is not meant to be in the game, but if any of you truly thinks that once a hacker spawns in an AS50 TWS into the game that no one else will ever use it, then you are a fool. I have another AS50 TWS on Chernarus and I'm proud of it, and Rakanishu is proud of his too. Quite simply, we fought for, worked hard for, and searched high and low for our items, vehicles and experiences in this game and we are not ashamed of any of it. Say what you will, but whether you believe it or not, we were banned simply for killing two players. The response was a cowardly admin and his minion misusing their power, simply out of anger. That, quite frankly, is pathetic. As for us, we're off to do what we do best in Day Z; start over.

  20. Hey AU23 My server with HFB had the same problem. It was actually a chenarus server that started with around 20+ vehicles. I contacted HFB servers skype and the admin on there does answer your question, however the only fix they could provide was to remove all vehicles, tents, and gear from the server and reset the vehicles... We then proceeded to find our own dedicated server so we would not have these problems.
  21. Are you allowing any vehicles to be created (spawned) and saved; even ones "exotic" to dayZ on your servers? Will a customer have access to change those whenever he wants? I see you let clients have access to the databases..
  22. I wont lie and say I don't take gear from these tents and vehicles that belong in dayz, but I try to destroy what I don't take if I can. I always destroy hacked in gear but if the tent looks legit I will take what I need and leave the rest. I found two tents up north with very basic gear and checked it a couple days later and it was an active camp but the gear sucked so I left them a DMR with ammo.

  24. One last thing before going to sleep. I ordered DayZtools but I don't know how to enter that panel. Also, how do I enter that phpMyAdmin panel and the map to see if vehicles are correctly where they should be? Thanks!
